I think that when you said

** I don't see other people posting about nice bonuses - usually cheesy gifts** it is understandable that others would think you were bragging.  You seemed to be comparing your bonus to their cheesy gifts and your caring employer to their uncaring, cheesy-gift-giving employers.  Just because other companies don't send a cash bonus does not mean they don't care.  I'm glad you got a bonus and I am sure you deserved it!  Merry Christmas!
