I think there's about it takes about 2 weeks...

In Reply to: I'm asking because - jt

There's a processing time of about 2 weeks I believe, paperwork has to be sent to certain people and equipment has to be ordered and sent out to you. I'm not aware of it being based according to pay period. Just a side note, be sure you have DSL and if you don't, you'll need to order it right away to enable you to start on time.

Wow, in the non-MT world it can takes weeks to hear. nm
nm
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
It takes a while (nm)

Only takes a second
Only takes a quick second to post a message if you have your MTStars alert set up to Radiology, Keystrokes or whatever company interested in, etc.  It is not that time consuming.  Gets interesting on occasion.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get (sm)
equipment deposit of $300 back from Spheris once you return their equipment? I don't know who to contact. All I get is a voice mail without a return call. Thank you.
Anyone know how long it takes to

get test results back from Precyse Solutions. Are they as good as their website claims?

I like it - takes some getting used to - new drugs, etc.
nm
It's not too bad but it takes some getting used to. My lines were down for about the first
month and then have surpassed what I was doing before. The accuracy is actually pretty good. I would say probably 80% or so. There is some editing of words and stuff but most of what I have found is punctuation and the like.
It takes time but can be done
First find where your templates are kept by clicking on Tools, Options, File Location where it will show you where your templates are stored.

Open your template. Click on Format, Style and then Modify then Format then font. After you modify the font size to what you want, click OK. Now you are back to Modify Style and check apply to template.

And I'm sure that's clear as mud! Good luck!
too much going in and out.....takes up too much time.

Takes you 8 hours to do what? nm

Anyone know how long it takes
quitting Spheris?  Thanks!
I can't tell you what to do as I have just started and it takes a while to
get to know your account and how things go, so I won't just jump on the bandwagon. However, if Webmedx has not returned your calls or email, why not give it a shot. Its not like you can't change your mind should Webmedx ever get back to you. I have changed jobs 3 or 4 times over the last year trying to find just the right spot that works for me. Time will tell if TT is the place for me or not.
Whatever it takes for family first IMO. (sm)
TT has more work coming on, these are good people who really care about us.

We still have to work some holidays but I saw a memo allowing us to flex our time that day to allow us to enjoy our family. The 2 major holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas you rotate, work one one year, the other the next. But it really is no problem if you can flex it around your family activities.

Good luck to you whichever way you choose.

It takes special ppl to do what we do. Either you have it or you don't. sm
Not everyone is cut out for this field. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you because it definitely has it's perks! Like sitting in my PJs as I type this, while my hubby sits in traffic. It took him 5 hours to get home the other night from an ice storm. I'd list more bonuses, but there are just way too many and I have to get back to work.
This takes the cake!

I recently replied to an ad for an MT.  The person offered me 1 cpl.  I wrote back that 1 cpl was an insult to a newbie, let alone an MT with my experience and expertise.  Here is what I got back:

I bet you are not as good as you think you are.  Believe me I have been in this business for over 20 years and I get these emails and resumes from girls who want more money and thay have all this experience but when they are given the editing test they cannot even pass.  I guarantee you would not pass my editing test either. And by the way after a 30 day trial period I do pay more.  Good luck!

(Should I have written back that 30 day needs a hyphen?)

First time here, or what?  It's only been two days, and the wound is still fresh.  Wait til somebody drops a house on YOU and we'll see how fast you shake off the injury.
That takes money and they know it.
Heck, D IS an attorney.  They know that the working person doesn't have the funds to retain an attorney, pay expenses, and a ridiculously high hourly rate (even higher when it goes to court), and then do this for years while they drag it all out with motions and postponements.  This whole financial system is set up to protect big business.
Whatever it takes to keep our paychecks low
They put us on ISR so we'll be faster, then confuse us with multiaccount specifics x2.  By the time we get it all straight, the account leaves.  Its just a sneaky ploy to keep our production low as we have to stop and refer to account specifics and fiddle with QA picking at us.  Heaven forbid they should put 1 person on 1 account done a single way with 1 set of rules - she might get fast enough to actually make money.  Lets put 20 people on 10 accounts with 20 sets of rules, then nobody will make squat, except maybe QA.
It takes no more time at all

to behave in a respectful manner towards anyone - no more.

I think the problem is communication through e-mail - cowards hide behind it and spew out orders in a way that they never could face-to-face.  Ahh, power!

The cowards are given no rules for sending out e-mails to the people they - the cowards - consider their employees.

we have actually been told in the past to not post about them -- it's THAT BAD.  Womanizing horrible ignorant piece of crap company that doesn't give a rip about you.  If you like being treated like an idiot -- go for it!

I love it when someone takes on Typinfool!
As, if there is an egocentric carbon-based lifeform on this planet, she is IT. I've dealt with her personally, and the ONLY opinion she will listen to is her own. She'll hack people apart without provocation or common sense. Congratulations to you for seeing her for the person she is.

It takes guts to boast about that on

a public forum.  Your co-workers who have been there for several years must think very highly of you--NOT.

Did my time card too, takes a while. (sm)
I have been keeping my logs of job numbers and in and out times/total lines in a spiral notebook and then transferring them to a template for time cards on the computer and attaching to E-mail. There has to be a simplier way. I spent 45 minutes this morning getting this all done and totalled up.

All suggestions welcome.

Don't get upset, then, when offshore takes your job.
If we are not willing to give coverage nights and weekends, they certainly will be.

For what it's worth, I don't see the message you posted from your company anything near being a tyrant. Not a threat. Not a bully. Just stating facts. You can exercise your option to leave, just as you state you will be doing.

this editor takes the time because...
that's what I've been told to do and if I don't take the time to add those apostrophes, then the docs want to know WHY.

Not all QAs make changes just for the fun of it or because we've got an overwhelming desire to find something to correct. We do it because we have a boss too and if we don't do things the way the client wants it done, then that client goes to our boss, who in turn comes to us to find out why we're not doing things the client's way.

I am sure it takes a few days. The CEO does not process sm
the paperwork, the HR department does. If she has been doing hiring, then I am sure she is getting a lot done quickly, which means that HR might be backed up. I have been a lead for a while and realize that once the CEO steps in, everyone jumps as she moves faster than most others and makes sure that it is all completed.
The inner circle takes care of itself...
One of the inner circle had a death in her family and the world stopped for everyone else in the inner circle to do whatever. Everyone else in the company seem to be the foster child or step-child.
It takes just as much time & knowledge, and in
many cases can be much more time consuming. The only reason it pays less is so the MTSOs can make a larger profit. It s*cks and is a rip-off for MTs. You have to do basically triple the number of lines to make the same amount of pay as regular, and that's impossible to do. You can't listen to reports at triple speeds, and even if you could, it takes way too long to make all the corrections of that ASR mess.
No way. It takes just as much time in many cases
to do VR as to do straight transcription, so that would be about 1/3 of regular pay for the same amount of work/time. THAT'S RIDICULOUS! We have to stand up to these companies. I wonder how many charge the client the same amount but just cheat the MT?

I just finished my first hour of VRing and I did 561 lines, that is at 4 cents a line and that equals to over $22 for that hour. I could never straight transcribe that many lines in 1 hour.
Yeah. It takes about 8 months to end the honeymoon.

Yes, 6 cpl is low but three years is NOT a lot of experience. It takes that long to become sm
semi-proficient and we look for at least 5 years because of that. I would not go higher than 7 cpl with only three years experience and I think this is starting to be the norm.

Think of other fields ... plumbing apprentices, electrician apprentices, printing apprentices, etc. It takes 5 years to be a journeyman. They start at $8.00/hour and move to cap which is around $30/hour but it takes 10 years to get there.

Even teachers ... it takes 5-10 years to get top pay.

Any field.
If an MT takes time to go through the testing process...
MTSOs should take the time to respond, even if it's an auto-response, letting the MT know that either they did not cut the mustard or that the position was filled already. It's the decent thing to do. That's the benefit of computers. It's not the personal touch most would prefer, but it sure beats sitting around waiting for an answer.
Diskriter interview takes 1-1/2 hours? sm
How can an interview take so long?  Or is this the testing process? Thanks

Ditto - SoftScript takes the cake
I worked for SoftScript briefly and was stunned at the errors in grammar and spelling from Management. Unfreakinbelievable.
Depends on how long it takes to get your ID from the facility. SM
Once that happens, they get you installed and going pretty quickly.

You can probably call them about the Lanier unit to see if they have any to rent to own.

When I worked with them, the insurance was very expensive and not very good. They have promised to get better, but that has been going on for a long, long time.
