I wish I was a fat, lazy, cherry-pickin'

MT who could work when I wanted, do the exact opposite as my company says to do and still keep my job! I am so sick of working with MTs like this. I work my hind of to get my report count for the day, usually having to jump between 4 accounts to get the minimum! Then I work with this girl who gets away with murder and the company does nothing about it! Why are the worst MTs the ones who get all the glory and get to keep their jobs to boot? I'm sick of it. This field is such a joke!

Lazy?? When you have 100's of people to reply to....that isn't lazy
Apparently you've never had your own MT company. There is just sometimes no other option but to use generic replies due to the overwhelming responses to ads run. I wish people who post at this board would put themselves in other people's shoes and quit being so quick to judge. You have no idea what the person running that company might have on her plate. And to the lady who started the post...give the people a break. You didn't get the job. Move on.
Yes. Hospitals, and maybe OSI. Slim pickin's. nm

OK now wait a cotton pickin minute!
Hey, are you related to Tricky?

I've really heard enough innuendo about TransTech. I answered the question about the line counter: I don't use one because I don't see a real discrepancy. But that's not what you want to hear, is it?

Tell me, by the way, what kind of deal did 'I' cut with TT?

If you have a real claim, take it up through due process of law and/or the owner of TT, because it's one thing to ask a question here, but quite another to convict TT of wrongdoing without any proof.

For those MTSOs out there who think all we MTs do is criticize MTSOs, I hope you take note!

Not too lazy?
Okay, so he/she was not TOO LAZY or TOO BUSY to come back 6 weeks later and take the time to send that rude rejection notice that was the subject of my original post.  I stand corrected.
lazy has a lot to do with it

cut out for this job.  Those are the ones who usually have all of the complaints.

No, this GP original post here is not the norm; at least not in my circle.  Sorry you all have such a time with these MTSOs.

Hey I have an idea!  Why don't all you whiners start one up yourselves!

hmmmmm. was that before she got lazy?
xxxxxxxxxx
I'm not too lazy to research this...
The only esoteric element about your postings is how you manage to transcribe with all of these conspiracy theories running rampant through your brain.

What a delightful co-worker you must be.

*YAWN*

I think the employers are just lazy, and don't want to do the taxes. nm

Smile. Nope. I'm in this because I'm too lazy SM
and self indulgent to be management. Also really hate workplace politics. Been there long ago in another industry, done it, moved on. Isolated in the boonies now and loving the no-stress/no responsibility work we do. Haven't traded a word with my account manager (what's that title, anyway?) in months. Intend to keep on as long as allowed.
lazy and cowardly - she gets her lap dog BB to do her dirty work for her
so she doesn't have to deal with it.
She is meaning you will see lazy MTs while doing QA that no longer care
nm
OSI managers are too lazy to keep their own accounts in turn around time
but if my a## were on the line my accounts would stay in Turn Around Time one way or another. Delegating work doesn't mean letting your turn around time go, patients are the ones who suffer the most.
...it can be done! I do this only if I have the wrong foot pedal hooked up & I feel lazy. nm

Oh, you mean CHERRY PICKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
zz
WHAT cherry picking?
You can't reject a job without management knowing about it.
How are they cherry picking?
Dont you have to give a reason for sending a job back?
There's cherry picking going on
The ops aren't divided fairly, so if you get ops, you make the line count.  If you don't get ops, you're out of luck.
Cherry pickers. sm
Does anyone work for a company who will not overlook cherry picking?  Thanks.
Cherry pickers
And if it goes to someone more familiar, how will you ever become familiar with it? That familiar person may leave and you get half a dozen reports you cannot do and you make zilch because you didn't take the time to become familiar.
TT cherry picking
I don't see how cherry picking would even be a possibility at TT, at least the account I work on, which is done on ExText platform, we only get 2 jobs at a time and and there is no way to bypass them.

Cherry picking
I know my company ignores the cherry picking as long as some dope like me comes along and cleans it up. I have total respect for the companies that are on top of that, and if TT is one of them they will be first on my list of companies to check out after the first of the year.

Cherry Pickers
Happening everywhere, also adjustment in lines, not counting this, not counting that. We have some really dishonest greaseball people running things these days. I feel for ya, I really do. I would look elsewhere if I were you.
Cherry pickers and other cherry pickers
my experience is all hospital acute care, 16 years.  So, working for nationals, I think in the last 3 years especially, your supervisors have quotas too, and they are the worst cherry pickers, I don't think the transcriptionists have the ability like your supervisors have to get the better dictation but they do.  If they say they don't they are lying.  How do you think they are able to send you stats, etc., plus if you are ground floor on an account they get the better dictation.  I asked 3 companies if it was first in, first out, they assured me it was but in the first month all I got were mainly ESLs, short short dictations, and slurred speakers.  Give me a break!  Who are they kidding?  Of course they don't care and that is why there is such heavy turnovers.  Women will be women.
cherry pickn
Seems the same ole same ole, in order to get work pushed through more efficiently, the fast get the crap and the slower get the better. Will give it another week, if no change Im outta there too.
how is this cherry picking.....
maybe when I log off, i am logging off on your primary. Aren't you glad I am not typing your primary?

My PS tells me that everyone HATES my account. It is too hard for most MT's. I love it, and type it when it is available.
cherry picking at my last job too!!
It got so out of hand that one second a good job would be up, but when I tried to download it, it would go away. The company's name start with a C and it is listed further down on this page. If you are at this company, cherry picking is like an every day occurence, and you will never make a good living.
Cherry picking
All you have to do when you are in the report is Alt G, click history and it will indeed show you if somebody has cancelled out of the job.
Cherry-picking
Yes, I know how to see the history - that's how I know it is going on.  Like the post below says, there are days I feel I have the luck of the damned and others are good, but it's those days that I seem to get all that everybody else spits out that makes me crazy and I would think we should all have to do them - how else will you ever learn to do the harder docs?
cherry picking
An e-mail came around about cherry picking several months ago.  You are not allowed to do this unless its around the end of your shift and you know you can't finish it. Like the other MT said, get job# and send it to your supervisor. They are supposed to be watching who is doing this if it is a pattern with an MT.
cherry picking
You'd better believe it. Those so-called MTs should be ashamed of themselves. By the way, no matter what the frequency and/or percentage of any ESLs we encounter, the exposure and experience of them renders us more well-rounded, skilled MTs, and we can enjoy the days of good, clear dictators.

Some people are simply born without any integrity and respect for others. To me, it's like somewhat stealing in an office setting, so to speak, as the cherry pickers set up their own scenario.

Bottom line - Cherry pickers are NOT true MTs.
cherry picking...sm
either nobody does it or everybody does it.

Or the ones who do it should be reported to put a stop to it.
Cherry pickers

I have to say it is not like crying someone got a bigger piece of candy, it has to do with you type your fingers to the bone putting up with all the lousy dictators and the cherry pickers end up with higher productivity and possibly better raises.  Sure you type all the lousy reports and you are a better MT because of it, but you can also be a poorer $$ wise MT.

True story...working on-site with 3 of us on the job.  One wanted to come in at 3 a.m. and work until 8 a.m. because of child care issues.  My shift started at 6 a.m. and this person was never there, but her productivity was sky high,,,then we figured it out, there was one doc who read almost all radiology reports as normal.  We realized that none of his reports were ever there when we came in in the a.m. only the ESL and lousy dictators.  So we started watching, sure enough this doc easily read 150 reports and probably 135 of them were normals (or so he said).  So revenge is sweet....after we heard yet again from our sup. how wonderful so and so was and how much work she produced ,so we started hiding his work and leaving her all the lousy dictators......  All of the sudden,  her line count dropped in the toilet and the cat was out of the bag.  The good docs work got done at 6 a.m. and no one was the wiser. Too bad it is not possible when you are working off-site.

Cherry Picking
The cherry picking thread is completely out of control.  I didn't read where anyone was defending it.  No one likes it, but some choose not to worry about it.   Throwing a fit because an MT would rather do their job and not worry if someone cherry picks does not call for accusing them of being a defender.   That is very childish.  Then some of you are going on about calling them a cherry picker too?  Then a troll?  Are we still in grade school?  Can we ever have a mature conversation about anything on here?    Please don't even respond if you are going to try and give another example of how ignoring means defending.  That is pointless and wrong.
cherry pickers
My 2 cents: I've been an MT for 25 years. I've worked in hospitals where cherry picking was always a huge issue for some. There would be accusations filed with the supe, investigations done, department meetings held, and conclusion would usually be: It couldn't be definitely proven. If it was clear that an MT had assigned herself/himself a bunch of good stuff and skipped higher priority jobs, then he/she might be verbally reprimanded but rarely written up (usually because he/she wasn't the only one guilty and could point the finger at others). Most of the times, supe told everybody to MYOB. My best friend still works in-house and has a co-worker who skips any and everything to get only x-rays. When she asked after 3 years of this, if they could have a dept. meeting or do something to work through this, she was told that this person was too valuable to mess with because of her willingness to work late shift. I now work for a national and there is no way to cherry pick on my accounts, short of closing out/shutting down and going back in 15-30 minutes later, which would only cause you to have to make up that time later, and you might even end up with that same job you wanted to skip and it's not worth it. My lead actually routed me a job recently asking for my help and apologizing that she was sending me an op note that several MTs had skipped over. Each MT has to decide how much time/energy to put into fighting cherry picking or whether to try to let it go as one of the many unfair obstacles we face in life.
WILL BE ABLE TO CHERRY-PICK - sm

to your heart's content, if that's your choice and you are fortunate enough to get the kind of Lead job where you have control of work flow & distribution, as they do in my company.  As bad as the Q may have been in some important areas, I always got my lines.  Work was allowed to self-distribute naturally ...THE NEXT FREE MT GOT THE NEXT AVAILABLE JOB.  We had 1 supervisor, not 2 dozen people we had to answer to, as today's top-heavys.

But as long as the same person who assigns/distributes the work (Leads) also types on the accounts & has FIRST CHOICE of jobs -- well, where does leave the rest of us??  With 101% $---t, that's what!  That and being salaried, too!  I'd be a Lead for HALF of the little they're paying us now and I bet I'd get more done if the playing field between Leads and peon MTs were evened out a little.

what makes you think cherry pickers are fat??
x
Cherry picking at its best today!

What do they do about cherry picking at Amphion

No cherry picking allowed

Axolotl's Transcriptionist software (ARTI) is designed specifically to prevent cherry picking. Jobs are assigned within a work pool strictly on the basis of when they are due back to the customer. There is no way for an MT to send a particular job back to the pool. A user can sign off and all of her jobs go back to the pool, but then she will have to wait at least 15 minutes before she can sign on again and get new jobs assigned. If someone has figured out a way to beat the system please let me know so we can fix it; we want to make it fair for all of our employees.

As for difficult ESL dictators, well you're going to get some of those at any MTSO. It probably varies depending on the accounts you're assigned to.

YES! I have been there 3 years. I do not see a lot of cherry picking but sm
the account that I am on really does not need it. It is a great account!
The level of cherry picking that goes on

at Phoenix is outrageous.  They 'ask' that you do certain amount of the easy docs and your share of the others but do not enforce it.  Some get on the system at 4 am just to snatch all the easy ones.  And they 'ask' that you proof read your work but in talking to others who report doing 200-300-400 lines an hour...now you tell me..how much proof reading is really happening?  There are different platforms involved and some pay spaces but at a lower rate.  Yep, they are nice and they pay on time but work there only if you enjoy the daily irritation of being left with hard/crap dictators.

No Cherry picking-who are you kidding?

Obviously you don't know about all the accounts for Keystrokes. You can't possibly know about all accounts unless an insider. Yes, there is cherry-picking going on and don't let anyone fool you. Some of us have seen it with our own eyes and it continues with the response, We can't do anything about it or it is out of our control.  You see, there are hospital in-house girls on some accounts too and they get by with that and more. They assign themselves work when in-house girls think they will run out and the list goes on. You'd think there would be something in the contract that would say differently.  Live and learn! There are lessons here for someone. Some of us are not as stupid as some would think.

Keystrokes qx cherry picking?
Does anyone out there know if the leads assign out work?   As soon as my  line count starts to pick up I start getting really short dictations or impossible dictators that eat up my line count.  Was not like that when I first started out with them.  Im really getting fed up with this.
cherry picking/Keystrokes
I currently work for Keystrokes and on my account, I use a C-phone, no cherrypicking is allowed and I was told that it is reason for termination. The hospital picks up on cherry picking. Talk to your lead right away about it. My lead is great and is always there for us. No, I am not management, just love my account and happy where I am in my job finally after years of searching for a good job. Everyone needs a good count, and have a stable paycheck.
If your question is can you cherry pick
Your queue is preset for your work types and they come in according to TAT. You can't pick and choose what you want to type. That is established beforehand.
definition of a cherry picker
Cherry picking is when you get routed the easiest docs to transcribe from a particular account or when the gals in the office get routed the easier docs and leave the crap for the rest of us to do. I do every single doctor that comes to me on my account and do not pass it on to my coworkers. If I were doing that you better believe I would be hearing it from my coworkers as some of us talk between one another!!! You do not know what you are talking about and I am getting the impression that you are either a newbie or extremely immature. Somehow you seem to think that I owe you good accounts. Go out and find them, they are out there!!! Sounds like you are too afraid to expect more and lack the assertiveness necessary.... All careers have people who make the low end, middle end, and high end pay wise and job wise. I choose, here I use the word again choose to be one of the ones on the top end of the pay scale. It works the same way with for instance my husband's job. He chose to move his way up the ladder while other guys stayed down. What, is he supposed to stay down because they choose to not get ahead??? This is all so infantile... I gotta get back to work or maybe my coworkers will start to feel I am not pulling my weight!! Gee wiz....
So do they cherry pick at Transtech?
nm
Yes, it is cherry-picking proof
MTs are forced to work on jobs in the order they are due back to the customers. There is no way to send a particular job back to the pool.
Cherry picking is the reason for this, I think.

? for Webbers Re Cherry-picking
I have only been with Webmedx a short time, but am starting to see a pattern of reports being skipped; it is typically the more difficult ESL docs.  I don't see any documentation in my paperwork regarding skipping jobs or cherry-picking and wonder if there is a company policy on same?  It's making me nuts as I feel it is unfair and is adversely affecting my lines on days when it happens often during my shift.  I don't mind doing my share, but when it stars pulling from my $$, I have a problem with it.  Is this the norm???  Thanks in advance.
