I work for Keystrokes and have never heard that you had to have digital phone service (sm)

I used Embarq for about 3 months and made the change to digital because I got the letter from Embarq saying I was wasn't allowed to use the unlimited long distance that much.  I also switched to digital because it is cheaper and truly is unlimited long distance at the same rate every month.  I was never once told by Keystrokes that I had to have digital.  The only thing they ever told me was I had to have unlimited long distance.

You don't have to have digital phone, there are

other options.   There are multiple long distance carriers and I don't think it is up to the MTSO to research them all and see which ones do/do not offer an unlimited plan.  AT&T sells their plan as unlimited, but unlimited to them is 5000 minutes, and that isn't enough if you work full-time.

A C-phone is a digital transcriber. You use it to dial into
a system, possibly you dial directly into the hospital system or possibly the office system and you use the foot pedal connected to the C-phone to control the dictation, the same as you would any type of food pedal.   C-phone is the term you hear most often just like you hear Kleenex for tissues.  There are many such units that are compatible with multiple systems.   A C-phone will usually cost you $200+, but you can sometimes find a good deal on the equipment board here or on e-bay.   You need to have a surge protector on the phone line as well as on the power supply, or disconnect every time there is a storm.  Also avoid having any fluids near the C-phone, especially if they have sugar in them - ask me how I know.
I work at Keystrokes using a C-phone and Meditech. Admittedly, I wasn't sm

fond of Meditech when I first started using it, but now I do not mind it at all.  You can look up patient data such as medications, prior reports, etc., which can be quite helpful.  And Keystrokes uses a formula to count the lines which I think turns out very favorable for the MT.  I don't think that must be my C-phone account, thought, because I'm pretty sure there are more than 35% ESLs!

Good luck to you.  Don't let the naysayers get to you.  Try it for yourself and see.  It might be a great fit.

contact phone service
Many times it is just pushing a code on your phone - inside cover of phone book. Once they get the complaint from the phone company they should stop - otherwise the cops come knocking - bet they stop then. Just document your contact with them. No further contact by you needs to be done - just keep pushing the code - the more complaints the faster they have the fines levied and possible legal problems.

Just like getting harassing calls from regular Joes - put in a complaint and push he codes - one you tell them to stop if they keep doing it, it is harassment.
Good point. Who do I get on the phone if I have to call customer service
for my credit cards, or software questions, or whatever?  I get someone who I can barely communicate with in the freakin Philippines, or wherever.  It is so WRONG.
Is this a service with an ad somewhere? Never heard of them. nm

Anyone heard of Wilson Transcription Service
Is it safe to work for a company that does not require a contract to sign; you just let them know when you're ready to work.
Comment on Keystrokes Transcription Service
I am an employee at Keystrokes for less than a year. I am a Lead Transcriptionist with 27 years experience. I do work from my home (though not my living room - smile). I have worked for a lot of major (and smaller) transcription companies, as well as 2 major hospitals on site and several large medical clinics as an MT and also in management. I said all that to let you know that I really do have a lot of experience in this field.

I love working for Keystrokes. They are a smaller company, but are growing so fast that it is hard for them to keep up with everything. Yes, there have been a lot of changes - the good news is that the changes are to better the company and are beneficial to the employess/ICs.

It is true that it sometimes takes a couple of weeks to get going on an account. That is hard when you want to start tomorrow, but KS does not overhire. Therefore, when they need an MT, they hire that person and then have to get the paperwork back, get clearance and IDs on the account they were hird for, install account-specific software on the MTs computer, and arrange for training from the account Lead. Believe me, when someone is hired, I want them to start today, but it is not possible. However, if they are hired for a specific account, they have a place on that account and the work is there for them. If not, people are placed on secondary accounts.

Like I said, there have been changes. But, unlike some of the companies that make MTs miserable, the changes are things that make KS a better place to work and give added benefits to the MTs. I have not seen one thing taken from MTs. I am a Lead. I try to be available, fair, and friendly. Everyone I answer to does the same thing. If you would like to email me, I have left my email address. I will answer any questions I can.

To those who just want to flame a good company, you should be ashamed. You make many really good MTs decide not to check KS out - which is your intention.

Open to email or questions - happy KS'ER

KeystrokePro and Keystrokes Transcription Service are two different companies. sm
I have worked for Keystrokes Transcription for 4 years. They are in Illinois and our hospital uses them for both Radiology and Medical Records. The other one is on the east coast and called us this week at work. If you are looking for a company to do your radiology work, the "real" Keystrokes' web site is www.WeTypeXray.com.

the MT service you are referring to is Keystrokes, so you are fine with keystroke :)

Keystrokes/C-Phone
Just talked to a very nice woman from Keystrokes and am waiting to actually talk to the recruiter about job details (rates, etc.), but sounds like the position is mine if I chose to take it. However, it requires a C-phone, and I don't think I have ever used one in my life. I see there are several models. I want to pick up a used one, but will any old C-phone do? I hate to sound stupid, but I honestly don't have a clue! I guess I can wait to talk to the recruiter, but I wanted to start getting some ideas about price first.

Thanks.

I am told this account has a ton of work, which is just what I need. I am having trouble getting 500 lines a day and I just can't live on that!
keystrokes C-phone
Does anybody know if Keystrokes does anything but C-phone dictations?  I wanted to submit a resume, but I don't have a C-phone. Thanks
Keystrokes requires C-phone? NM
NM
What other companies besides Keystrokes uses a C-phone? TIA nm
nm
Well, I never heard back from them, even after I sent tons of e-mail and personal phone calls
And, I am sure I nearly aced the test. Very simple.
Anyone work for Digital Transcription Services or DTS? (sm)
I can't find anything in the archives.  I have a couple questions if someone would care to e-mail me.  I think they are based in Oklahoma. TIA.
Anyone work for Digital Records Corp in California? sm
Do you work per LPH requirements or line counts per payperiods, have to clock in.  What platform is used.  Is it Word Based.  It is set up in a pool fashion or you are assigned work from a particular group of doctors.  Is pay good?  Thanks for replying.
Anyone work for Digital Transcription Systems in Oklahoma City

Can you tell me about them and your experience?

I heard Keystrokes is looking for MTs....
I work there and was told that they are looking for MTs for another big account they have acquired.  I've been in this business for a LONG time and this is the best company I have ever worked for.  If any of you are unhappy at the nationals that treat you like machines, check out Keystrokes.
How many of you actually work for more than one service
and would you recommend doing so to others? I am very seriously considering working for two separate MTSOs PT. One would be day shift and the other evenings. I am wondering if others do this and find that they have better paychecks than when working for one MTSO full-time.
To Keystrokes employees: Has anyone heard anything about when a new, less expensive insurance (sm)
is starting?  I was told by a valid source it was to be February 1 but it apparently didn't happen then.  Has anyone else heard a different date?  TIA.
anyone work for D&L Typing Service?

Do they seem to have alot of accounts?  Is pay still low?

anyone work for D&L Typing Service lately?
Looking for new info on this company.  They had recent adds
Who is LK -- know TT did send some work to another service, but

but please let me know what you are saying because we TT'ers are very interested in what you are saying to us all -- I just know there is something very wrong with my line count.  I have been doing this too long to not know how many lines I can get.  I cannot put my finger on the problem -- I just know it does fall in my lap.

This is really disturbing to me.

If you work for a service, you are more likely to have all the specialties; however,
If an MT has for example only worked in house or for one hospital their specialties might be more limited. For instance, my first in-house job was for a hospital that specialized in high-risk OB and ortho, but the cardiology procedures and neurosurgeries were done at a sister hospital.

Now that I have worked for a service, there isn't a specialty in the hospital setting I haven't done.

Another thought - maybe, just maybe they are trying to match MTs up with the specialties they like best, not just have knowledge of - Now wouldn't THAT be a plus!

Just curious, do you work for a service? SM
I would love a 12-hour window of time.
Um, who said I worked for SS? I work for no service.

I've gotten out of the MT service ghetto.  I work for a hospital.  And guess what...

There are rude people here too ----> GASP!

Maybe I should quit my $18 an hour, 800 line minimum requirement with 0.06 cpl incentive for anything over 1000 lines a day, awesome health and dental benefits, work at home job because I shouldn't have to deal with rude people, should I?

Don't work for a service who offshores. Let them find someone else
nm
So all MTs that work for a large service are bad MTs compared to those sm
that work for a smaller company? That could not be further from the truth. Some of the larger companies can attract better MTs with benefits, higher pay, etc than a smaller company ever can.

I think it depends on the MTs, not the service, as to the quality of the work.

I work for one of the companies the OP mentioned and the QA standards are MUCH more strict than smaller companies I have worked for in the past.

Talking about the ones who say you cannot work for another national MT service. nm
nm
Word ZPressed or Keystrokes? Any info on either company? I have heard both are reputable
thanks
Heard Keystrokes was getting better benefits, medical insurance etc.. Anyone care to elaborate? I
ready for a change.
I work for MedQuest, a radiology service provider--sm
based in GA.
Transtech DID have a service help out with their work -- I know for a fact -- about a year ago.
How long have you been with TT?  Anyone in mgmt will tell you that they outsourced work to another service in the past.
did you have to purchase equipment for this service to work or do they supply - nm
x
Not only that, but I would MUCH rather work for Keystrokes than Spheris as Keystrokes doesn't

Viva Transcription Company out of California. Does anyone work for this service. If so,
would you be willing to share what they pay?
Surgical Notes transcription service out of Texas...anyone work there?
Do they hire employes or IC? Platform? Thanks in advance ;0
Used to need a second phone line to work there. Does anyone know about now? nm
s
No, you don't need C-phone or a second line, and yes, I believe we do have clinic work. nm
x
This obviously all boils down to choices. If your willing to use a C-phone, then there is work but
if you want to work for an account that you were hired for, say using editing, or basically internet-based, the work load can be somewhat fluctuating and this could be due to the fact that many were hired on these editing accounts so it keeps the work load down most of the time. It also depends on the hospital your working on. Some have more work than others.  Just be aware of what you will need and want in order to keep working. I still stand by the fact that sometimes things promised never materialize and emails are delayed in being answered. Other than that, pay is on time and for some that is enough to keep them happy. I say, try it out. Only you can decide what works for you or what is acceptable. Again, it is about choices.
C-phone accounts have tons of work
but you have to have unlimited long distance
I don't think you'll find any work here..unless you have a C-phone...
Not much work here to keep me busy or even make my line requirements.
Just depends on the account. I work for MDI, don't use a c-phone but also don't have Bayscrib

internet or extra phone line work? - nm

All of the WORK RELATED emails, IMs, phone calls, etc...sm
Up until 05/13, I was a production paid MT that was expected to work a very structured, 6.5-hour shift that was to be performed from 9a-4p. HOWEVER, the constant disruptions that came from my supervisor and other staff members (mandatory IMs, emails, phone calls, on-line meetings, etc) was considered non-productive and had to be made up. It took me 8 to 10 hours a day (on a good day) to get in 6.5 hours of transcription! I was then accused of not sticking to my schedule because many of those hours were done in the evening (after the office went home) and I was finally left alone.

Could you even try to imagine anyone else (regardless of profession)being told to stay after their shift was over to make up any time spent performing work related tasks? It doesn't happen and never will!

Why are we expected to be so grateful to be at home when the only difference is demographics? Oh, and maybe a water cooler...

Thank you. I went to Walmart today, and guess what, they had one phone and it didn't work!. Go
NM
Worked on C-phone for 10 years with 1 phone line
nn
You'll work as an employee, not IC. Need your own C-phone and pay for your own long distance line
s
C-phone accounts aren't any better, not enough work to make line counts there either. Sigh
nm
C-phone - I purchased a c-phone from someone in Oklahoma but never got it. *sm*
First she told me her grandmother died. Then she told me she mailed it. Then she told me her daughter was having chemotherapy. Call me naive, but I thought she was sincere and cannot imagine anyone using their daughter as an excuse. If this is the same person from Oklahoma, I sure would like to know about it because now I want my money back.
