Insurance Interviews
I have experience doing insurance claims reports for a local insurance company. I get $3.00 a page, so I was a little wary about the $1.50. It is very easy work if the tapes are clear. I was thinking of applying, but I wasn't sure if it would be worth it. Has anyone else applied yet?
Interviews...
On average, I was wondering how long takes to hear back from companies? I just started job-searching as I wanted to get away from MQ, and they apparently want to get rid of me as I just received a written warning. This leaves me a little worried though. I have applied for 5 jobs in the past few days (MedScribe, Phoenix MedCom, Chronicle, Summit and Tarheel), and I'm worried that I might not find a new job in time. I have 11 years of experience, and I have been working for Medquist since 2004. Any info on your job-searching experience would be appreciated :) TIA :)
MT company interviews
Don't be nervous. I don't think an MT company phone interview is like a regular interview in a lot of ways--definitely not worth worrying over.

They want to know your experience. They want to know you'll be able to do the work. If you have both, you have nothing to worry about.

Remember, it's an INTERview, meaning this is not something they do to you, it's something you do with them. Bolster yourself up, lady, and remember you want to know if YOU want to work for them. Get your questions ready! You don't want to get into a bad situation, so you'll talk with them and make sure they're a good fit, right? Writing some questions out might help you get in the right frame of mind as well as help you remember while you're on the phone that you are not powerless here.
two recent interviews

I thought you might enjoy these two tidbits from recent interviews with unnamed companies.  When I asked the first recruiter/owner about the insurance they offered in their ad, I was told that contract had lapsed and there was not a new one signed yet.  She went on to volunteer her opinion that people are better off without health insurance -- that way you can use the free clinics (TRUE story).  The second one advertised 8.5 to 10 cpl transcription and 0.4 to 0.5 VR.  Unfortunately, those positions (although I applied within minutes of the post)  were filled but I was offered 8 cpl transcription and 0.3 VR.  Bait and switch much?

Have interviews with Axolotl and Webmedx. Need opinions from CURRENT MTs about their future

I have interviews for an Acute Care MT position (employee, not IC) with both Axolotl and Webmedx and would like some CURRENT feedback before I make a decision.  Have been an Acute Care MT for over 30 years and want to “plant” myself at my LAST job before retirement.    Getting too old to keep going through these testing/interview processes.

I have researched both Axolotl and Webmedx and to no surprise the poster either hates 'em or loves 'em.  It seems like both companies have gone through some major changes during 2006 and plan more changes in the future – good or bad – depending on who is replying.  From preliminary information, they seem to be comparable in pay, both provide the computer, insurance is reasonable at both, and other benefits are close to identical, which is making it hard for me to swing one way or the other without more information.

I would really appreciate either a post or E-Mail from CURRENT (or newly former) employees of Axolotl and Webmedx with their opinion as to if they feel reasonably confident they can continue to make a comfortable living over the next few years (or at least not have drastic downward changes in their future incomes), where they think their employers are going in the future, if they are comfortable with the direction they are taking (job security), and if they think they will still be working for the company in say 5 to 10 years (or at least plan to, baring unforeseen circumstances).   Any information you care to share on ESL and achieving/maintaining minimum lines per pay period would also be helpful.   Any other information you would care to share would also be greatly appreciated in my attempt to decide the PROS and CONS of these two companies.

Needless to say, I would love to hear any negatives in case I need to go in a totally different direction.    Any former employees who would care to share why they left would be very insightful too.

Any information you have will certainly help in my decision making.  Thank you in advance.

My only contact with them was rude. The front office person or whomever schedules interviews is rude
This was about a year ago but I set up an interview and either I was supposed to call them or they were to call me at a certain time but I totally spaced off the time change. The lady went off on me and told me that they had no interest in me because I couldn't call on time etc. Rude. There is no way I would ever work for someone like that.
401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
Insurance sucks compared to my old insurance... sm
The insurance seems like they don't want to cover anything, even simple prescriptions I used to pay 4 or 10 dollars on I now pay 20 to 43 dollars.  I like the company/people so far, just don't like the insurance.
of course, scheduled. All interviews are Scheduled.

Insurance Questions: Can you tell me what you pay for insurance through your

MTSO, which MTSO it is and whether the coverage is decent?  I currently pay $92.00 a pay period for decent coverage but am trying to figure out if I am getting a good deal or if I could do better elsewhere.

TIA.

You may be better off going directly to the source, so to speak. I do not have the insurance, but I have seen the rates, and they are reasonable, even affordable! I believe it's through either Blue Cross or UHC, or it may be both, you get to choose.  Anyways, I do get the eye insurance for my family, which is at no cost to me.  As I said before, your best source is to ask MQ itself.  Good luck, and don't count MQ out just because of all of the negative posts on this board! I'm very happy w/them, and have been for over four years now!
MQ insurance

I don't know if it's still the same, but when I worked for MQ, I cancelled my insurance and went to IC status when the family coverage went up to $900/month.  I asked them how could that be with the largest transcription company in the world, and they claimed it was based on the area I lived in.

Insurance
They don't let you go, they make you a statutory employee. If they let you go, then they would put themselves in a situation to where they may have to pay unemployment. If they move you to statutory and take all your benefits, then they don't have to pay your insurance or PTO days. Working off the clock is just free labor for them. So basically, it is going to benefit them either way.
insurance

I carry myself and my husband and it costs me between $30 and $40 monthly.  This is for an HMO.  I think they told me  the PPO was between $80 and 120 monthly, but the HMO had more providers in my area so I went with it.    There were several choices between HMO and PPO.  Like I said before, this will vary depending on which hospital.  I work for a hospital in PA. I'm not sure about details for the Florida hospitals.

For the insurance directly through Diskriter (if you work for them directly),   I think they quoted me around $300 a month for two people.

PT Insurance
There is a company in WI who offers insurance at 30 or 32 hours a week. For the life of me I can't remember the name but out of Waukesha, WI. Hopefully someone can jump in and give you the name.
PT Insurance
I keep wondering why more companies don't offer an option like the hospitals where you pay a little more as PT, but can at least obtain insurance as part of their group. Or for that matter, why AAMT cannot offer a group option for insurance for all the ICs, etc.
insurance
You get to choose full time with benefits, full time with limited benefits, or part time.

Now, tell me about the insurance. I may sm
still look into this.Thanks!

Check with IRBA on the internet. It is a group for small business owners and then you get a group rate. You join IRBA and then there are different insurance companies.

insurance

I checked into the self employed insurance (Mega Life) and the deductibles are high -- which I could tolerate -- but if you go into the hospital the deductible must be met for each occurence.   So if you have two surgeries -- I broke my leg and had surgery for placement of a rod and plate, etc.   Ten months later it comes out -- deductible for each has to be met.   I have worked insurance also and their plan is hard to understand what each covers.  You pay for your basic and add on -- chemotherapy, outpatient labs, etc.   I went with a high deductible but where I put money in a tax free account to pay the deductible should I need it.  I am self employed so it works for me.  Most of the docs I type for give me free office visits and labs done in their office as well as prescrition samples.   But then have only been to the doctor three times in the past 3 years.     But do a search for medical insurance and you will get a lot of info.   But with the difference of over $200 for a $2000 deductible, I saved that in a year and like I said it is pre tax account.

Poster below gave you good info - WMX probably has best, most affordable ins. of all MTSOs.
I know several IC's, over 50, with no insurance. SM
They rave to me about all the money they make, however, they cannot afford to see a doctor and rarely do, one goes to hospital when they run those studies.

Yeah, they make more than I do, but you cannot enjoy the money if your are dead.

Sorry, like I said, this rant is directed at older (over 40) IC's.
Insurance sm
I am over 50 and have insurance through AARP - 118.50 per month. I also have an arrangement with my personal physician to pay cash at a much lower price than he would normally charge for someone with insurance. Also, because I am IC, I have multiple tax deductions that lowers my income so that I can qualify for cheap drugs, free mammograms, etc. I also have additional accident coverage in case I am in an accident or fall or something that would be more than my AARP insurance coverage. This has worked well for me for about 13 years. Most disease can be prevented and if you take care of yourself, you are unlikely to have an emergency.
insurance
Why can't people just pay for their own insurance? IF you make good money it is affordable.

insurance
After changing jobs and realizing I couldnt'afford the new company's insurance, my husband and I attempted to buy our own insurance. Guess what, no reputable health insurance company in our state would even accept us at any price because of our physical condition. They only want you if you're young and/or healthy. So buying your own insurance is not always an option. I would advise anyone to go ahead and buy their own insurance before they get too old or in too bad of health and not count on any company's insurance, because if you lose it, you won't have any. At least that's been my experience.
insurance
please tell us what website to go to.
Insurance
If you find someone that gives good insurance coverage the pay usually goes down.  We need to something about these insurance rates as no one is getting rich but the insurance companies.
It's not so much about the insurance -
I believe that by law (?) new insurance cannot turn preexisting claims if you have proof of creditable coverage from your prior carrier without a lapse of more than 63(?) days. If you were not so previously covered, I think some companies do make you wait a certain amount of time before they cover you for preexisting.

MW has excellent insurance through United. I suggest you either give your recruiter a call and ask (they usually don't mind giving you specifics as this is as much compensation as money is) and/or look up United Health care on line to see if there are any leads. Good luck to you.
OSi insurance

Are you talking about Opti-Script, Inc., or Outsourcing Solutions?  Both have the same logo.  If Opti-Script in State College, PA, please give me a call at 814.404.8805.  Additionally, we are recruiting for full- and part-time employee MT positions,  If interested, please give me a call.

blame it on the republicans
Insurance
Sure, be glad to share. Webmedx had fabulous insurance coverage. I just got the info this week and jumped on it. The best I have seen in the industry yet! They are worth checking out!
Insurance
For myself and 2 kids I pay $400 per month. I'm in Florida, and this is for the PPO plan. (United) It has been good for us. I had surgery last year and had no unexpected expenses from it at all. The plans and rates vary as to where you live, but they are similar all around.
Insurance
I don't remember their insurance rates as I did not need coverage through them.  They do have 3 plans to choose from with different rates.  Pay is average, maybe slightly better.  They do request you stick to a schedule, require weekends and 3 holidays a year.
INSURANCE
Can anyone give me some information on this company's benefits?  Thanks.
insurance
anyone willing to share the name of the insurance company Transtech offers?  I wanted to look up their website.  Thank you!
E & O Insurance
I paid about $300 for a year.
E & O insurance
Are all MT companies now requiring E & O insurance?  Is it required if you are an MTE?  Where can you purchase an E & O policy other than AAMT and what are the premiums running?  Thanks for the info.
changes in insurance
Again, it is too soon to tell if the new insurance will be of much help to me. Yes, I am under 35 but not by much.

If I ONLY have a few sick visits and 1 monthly prescription, it MIGHT be decent.
insurance
Does anyone work for a company that has affordable health insurance?  I have had lots of job offers but have had to turn them down to extremely high premiums for health insurance.  Any info would be helpful.
MQ: PTO for PT but not insurance. Don't know of
nm
Insurance better?
I completely agree with everything you said.....:)

While SPI's insurance premiums went up for the MTs and the mgmt employees, they had to replace the prior plan that was costing too much money on the corporate financial side. There's no sense in worrying or griping about it - take a look at some other major manufacturing companies in the US who have completely DONE AWAY with their insurance that is provided to employees. All over the United States companies of all types are cutting back. In the MTSO industry the profit margin is so thin to begin with that there is no room for error. Even taking the employee out-of-pocket cost into consideration and actually worrying that it would be affordable to the MTs makes SPI unique. I know of a couple of other MTSOs that provide better premiums, but the line rate suffers, or the vacation time suffers, etc. We all want it back the way it used to be - companies paid for all insurance, they provided pensions and retirement, you could actually take a vacation without worrying that your job might disappear while you were gone. That isn't going to happen folks - not in the MTSO world and not in corporate America in general.
KS insurance (sm)

I'd like to know too.  Do you think you could e-mail me when you find out?  Thanks, have a great day!

does anyone have their insurance? sm
can you email me with the costs for family plan if you happen to know. thank you.
How is the insurance at TT?
What is the company they carry it with?
KS Insurance
I believe you are eligible for health insurance coverage after 90 days of employment. Yes, the insurance is costly, in my opinion. It is through Unicare. I have health insurance just for me and it is about $350 a month, or $175 a check. The owner is currently researching a less expensive group plan but I have not heard more about that in the last few months. Wish it would be soon!
As for insurance - sm
We used to both be self-employed and we covered ourselves which was VERY expensive. Then DH sold his business and now he works with someone else and so we are covered that way. Before that, I worked at home for a local hospital and I covered us while he was independent. We are taking turns, I guess!
About the insurance
The hospital brochure says 80% of the allowed allowance  I don't think DR mangement knew that that meant, 80% of the allowed allowance is 80% of what medicare pays.  I don't think they knew, it is a very confusing book to read.
Insurance
I was very recently hired on the same account and they were up front about the 80% of the Medicare allowance. They also informed me that if I didn't live in the tricounty area (Miami-Dade, Broward, PBC), that I would be responsible for 20%.

They were pretty up front about everything and I appreciated that.

They are very professional, yet friendly and approachable.

TT insurance
Yes they do. They offer 9 different insurance plans. If you search here, you'll find info on it.
