Pays for downtime when work runs out and benefits are pretty decent.

Glad to hear things are better. Hang in there. I know how hard it can be... this profession just isn't what it used to be.

Good luck to you!!

Florida Hospital Diskriter Position sm

I have been looking through the archives..  I was interested in applying to the Diskriter Florida hospital position but I had heard that you had to take a drug test, credit check, criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.

Is that true?  Especially about the preemployment physical.  I just find that completely weird..

Hosp's. would HAVE to pay more if we could stem
by continuing to sound off to anyone in this country that will listen. Why should the US worker subsidize offshore companies by sitting and watching their futures in MT dry up?
No ESL's? Maybe a clinic, but never a hosp or MTSO.
In this business, it'd be rare to find an account/hospital/MTSO without ESLs. It's part of reality. And keep in mind that whitebread docs can be worse that ESLs, by far. If you REALLY don't want to do ESLs, cruise the clinics in your vicinity, interview each doc to listen to them speak (ideally get them to do a test dictation for you), and make them an offer they can't refuse.

Seriously, though, you might look for companies that have midwest accounts/are located in the midwest, as the ESL ratio often is lower in the midwest states.

And if that doesn't work out you might look into legal transcription. Anyone notice that there seem to be fewer ESL lawyers than doctors? Lol....
If a lot of MTs, hosp. personnel, & docs are on all
s
Yes, it came from hosp. And doesnt matter what
x
Don't work there, though was offered a position.
They do offshore work, though I caught them in a lie about it.  The recruiter was IM someone the whole time she was talking to me, very distracting and rude I thought.   They have a base pay, a shift differential, a level of difficulty of account, years of experience, etc., so pay range can very 2 to 3 cpl.   I would never work for them.
Go to hosp. web site & apply on line, then
nm
hosp I worked for paid IC MTs $1.25/min for 2000 min/mo and
??
MY experience was my hosp. fired Spheris
)
What I meant was, is the ESL account unbearable. You don't have to tell me name of hosp. Thx
nm
1 hosp starts 7/16, but the only people getting that acct....sm
Are the ones who lost their main hospital on 6/3. Good for them. Not great for the rest of us. :(
Anyone work at Diskriter, who can tell me how it's like, pay, work load, supes, etc. Thanks

Wanna work for an hourly QA position?

1.  The reason it is hourly is so they can pay you on a 1980's pay scale.  It is nothing more than bait to use as an excuse to pay you less.

2.  Many hourly QAs tend to dump jobs they don't want for someone else to do the dirty work.  The high producers who care about their work end up doing most of the work.

3.  If you get paid by the line you make at least 50% more.  I left an hourly QA job about a month ago for one that pays by the line and I doubled my income within two weeks.  By working on the long jobs other QAs don't want, I make a lot of money.

4.  Hourly QAs make about half of what good MTs make.

5.  QA in general is one of the most thankless jobs around.  I left MT for QA so I could share my knowledge.  What a joke.  The MTs argue with you and never stop making the same mistakes.  Not only did I lose a lot of income, I hated coming to work every day to get the same reports from the same lazy MTs and then get nasty emails from the same MTs.  I got stuck with the jobs the other hourly QAs didn't know how to do or didn't want to do.  Why should they care?  They get paid no matter what.

Does anyone know what services the Hosp. of Univ. of Pa. uses or who to contact there for info of MT
work.
ho ho ho but the hosp can play Russian Roulette w/going to court with

Those medical records became cheaper for hospitals how?  When they go to court with those expensive incorrect records and LOSE, wonder if they think it was cheaper?

So, I just accepted a position with MDI-FI. Are there really people running out of work?
I need to know. I turned down a job at a hospital to accept this job at MDI because the pay was better, but if you do not have work, then there is no money so I might have been better off taking the hospital job...
I was offered a position editing offshore work that

was also Surprisingly good.   I knew without being told that the work was being done offshore as it was not that good.

If I were to go to India, or any other non-English speaking company I would not be able to do the work either, but then I'm not trying to compete with native MTs.  If I say I have a first rate product, then I need to be able to prove it and thus far I haven't seen it.

Have things gotten better at Amphion? Is there work now? nm

How are things going with Futurenet? Is there still no work> sm

Futurenet work has slowed down majorly.  Has anyone else's picked back up yet?  I thought we had new accounts coming on?  If so, are they are going to hire some people?  Does anyone know what we can expect?

Don't worry, things will work out. nm

My primary account is a hosp in new orleans so I'm wondering if we'll have more charts in a fe
x
I can see a lot of problems in this way of doing things. That sounds to me like everyone's work i
up for grabs so that would push those MTs that have their acccounts grabbed up go onto other accounts. If you think this doesnt affect quality I think you are totally crazy. There are a lot of people that simply cannot do a good job on accounts this way and they are very good MTs. Very bad way to do business. I am sure quality is hughly compromised. It is always always best for quality and line counts to keep people with what they know. Even the hospitals can see who is in there and they know there are a lot of unknown MTs in their accounts and if the quality goes down or a lot of work is tied up in QA those hospitals are gone to another company.
I work there and things apparently have changed since you were there.
Not all the people you named are still there nor is the dental plan Delta. It is Guardian. Insurance is excellent.

Now, they hire employees and not ICs. They do that for a reason. They can better schedule and meet TATs that way. I think employee status warrants meeting your hours, but what I do know is that they do allow some flexibility and if you need it, all you need to do is say it as long as it is not 12-hr flexibility. If you have to run out and get the kids, tell them.

This company is a good company. The people are quite nice. Their QA staff is good. They do follow the BOS to a tee.

It's a personal choice, but if someone did not at least check them out, I think they are missing out. They are very good. Best QA staff I have ever worked with.
But that is why she has people who work for her, to take care of other things when she has

mmmmm

Because you keep thinking things will get better with hard work, not always.
nm
My how things have changed. I am now drowning in work from
the new clients, I guess, and they are bringing on two more this week.  Hip, hip, hooray!  Might even get a bonus!!!
I work for Diskriter.
They're fair, they pay on time, they have plenty of work.
I used to work for Diskriter...
and, I agree, they are a great company to work for, but I'm not going to knock another MT if she states she had a bad experience there. Diskriter did have their fair share of problems in the past with management, the overtime issue, etc. Good to hear people are happy there because theren't many places we can say that about anymore.
Does anyone work for Diskriter?sm
They sure have a lot of ads and I was just wonder if anyone had any experience working for them and why so many ads.
I work for Diskriter
I have worked for them since July 2006 and so far they have been great. Very professional, excellent help, excellent pay and great benefits (a little pricy, but worth it.) I would recommend them to anyone.
Anybody work for Diskriter?
I looked through the posts but didn't find anything recent.  Any info?
What's it like to work for Diskriter?

nm

The DQS is an IC position and the Dictaphone EXtext is an employee position....
both part time...both making 9.5 cents per line...which is better IC or employee?
Thanks :)
Unless things have changed drastically, they are NOT nice to work for.
You will get calls at all hours to work, mostly because no one has enough sense to realize that there is a big time difference between the east coast where they are and the west coast where I am. I routinely got calls from Rose between 4 and 5 a.m. to see why I was not working when my schedule was for 7 a.m. pacific time. The accounts were awful. And the recruiter is just that - do not believe all the praise and glory she heaps out. She may be sweet but don't fall for her line of bs.
I work for Diskriter, no complaints
give it a shot - - can't hurt to talk to them, everyone can say they have had a poor experience at one place or another - -no problems with management, pay, everyone is nice, communicate with other MTs on my account daily, my 2 cents
Try going to Diskriter. Plenty of work
nm
How is Diskriter as a company to work for? Thanks. nm
x
What is work load and pay like for Diskriter?
nm
Maybe they dont answer because there is no work to get.Best way to avoid things I guess.
:
Just how are they to work for as far as accounts, ESLs, etc. The usual things such as how they treat
the MTs and so on.
Diskriter used to be a great company to work for
but I do not know what happened. They lost a LOT of office staff, as well as transcriptionists, and I am one of them. The management became horrible, the work was either there or not there on days, mandatory overtime, etc. I doubt they have changed. After 5 years I had to let go and move on.
Diskriter. NEW information on pay, work, QA, good, bad? NM
,
Re Diskriter, anyone work for the PA teaching hospital they have? SM
If so, can you post your opinion here?  Or you may email me if you'd like.  Thanks.
anyone work as hospital employee for/through Diskriter?
Was wondering how that works out, if that setup is better than working for a service. Better benefits, workload?
Is Diskriter a good company to work for?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Diskriter ? about work flow and VR pay rate

Tired of hopping around and trying to find a place with enough work to keep everyone busy and not overhire for future use   So just wanting to check out work flow, and was also wondering basic range for VR.

? That's kind of a blanket statement; things are fine on the accts I work on. sm
Yes, it was slow a couple weeks ago but started picking up last week.

PS - Yes, they pay for spaces.
So does anyone work on the acct that DiskRiter is hiring for now? It's in Florida
xxx
Then you should be fine at Diskriter if that's where you choose to work, Jeannal.
There are angry, negative people all over this board and, unfortunately, this line of work affords people the opportunity to job jump a lot more than most others. You will see negativity about any company on this business if you inquire on a message board, but the best thing to do is what is best for you.

Again, I'm very happy at Diskriter and would highly recommend them to anyone. I can only speak for myself.

Best of luck wherever you decide to work.

:)
Only if you work directly for their hospitals, not as a Diskriter employee. nm
