I couldn't make any money with them
for pretty much the same reason -- and I usually do pretty well with ESL dictators, but combined with the dictation quality it was rough. I think they started at 0.0875 per line, with maybe more per line depending on how many lines you produced. I don't remember for sure about that though.
I went back to transcribing because I could make more money!
They wanted me to wade through pure garbage work the MTs were uploading for 3.5 cents per line and $14 an hour on top of that. Trust me, it was NOT worth it. I am happily transcribing again and making more! Let the MTSO or company edit for peanuts. I have bills to pay here!
Here's a news flash for you... many people make MORE money editing....sm

in the same # of hours in a day than they do straight transcribing.  I know because I and others with the company I work for do.   When I was straight transcribing I averaged making $12 an hour.  Now that I'm editing about 90% of the time I'm averaging making $13.50 an hour.  Now THAT pays the bills faster, and I'm still working the same # of hours a week!

Just because someone posts that VR is the wave of the future doesn't mean they're in management - they're just being realistic about what is happening in this industry (just as they referred to the copier and PCs).

Of course if you think it's really going to hurt you to do VR then perhaps you should go back to an IBM typewriter and get your own accounts.  After all - using a PC and expanders is helping you get paid for work you're not actually transcribing (yup, think about those expanders - I bet you're not fussing over getting paid to have those kick in instead of having to type out those words, or consider the header information that blows in for you from an ADT feed that you're not having to manually type).

Amherst so we make less money and they get more money for MQ and bigger bonuses. Our guidelines came
from Amherst.
You couldn't pay me enough money now.

couldn't find anything in archives, but
I googled them and you can find links about them there.

Couldn't you just ship it back yourself?
Fedex or UPS could probably ship it back for $30-40, is my guess.
PS - the sound was bad, you couldn't back up or anything. Help!

I left a month ago, and couldn't be happier! They are the pits! Good luck. nm

LOL! I couldn't have done it Must have been a really good job for them to make you do that

They said we couldn't have people listen in - sm
nothing at all was said about discussing it afterward, and we were told all things regarding this merger were supposed to be 'open & transparent', & that no one would be kept in the dark. We're all entitled to our opinions.
Or it could be that "your company" couldn't quite make the cut.
eyes wide open
I worked there for awhile, couldn't make any sm
decent money. They changed their QA and guidelines and I made even less due to extra proofing, looking up in their Style book and the BOS which oftentimes conflicted. Their spellchecker was full of misspelled words.  Drugs were way outdated. Couldn't use my own word expander. Took about three weeks to get feedback sheets and sample reports. Wasn't worth it. I figured if I had to produce a superbly quality document, I would go elsewhere for more money.
they have a couple of people in the office that couldn't tell if you -
it was day or night or their hand from a foot - real idiots - yet, if you work there, they will be supervising you. Best of luck.
All you have to do is look back through the archives.

I had to laugh when I saw some positive posts this week or last, can't remember.  They sounded like they were written by the same person.

The CEO and his brother are in the business for the $$.  They have no clue about  the business.   The QA manager that was there when I was there was a joke, always sending out incorrect spellings on things.  Some of the accounts have the worst dictators I've ever seen and I do 85 to 90% ESLs.  The sound quality was terrible.   When I did QA the work I edited was horrible and they continued to make the same mistakes over and over, like typing same for postoperative diagnoses.  I was asked by someone if they offshored work and I said as bad as it was it is quite possible.  I keep hearing how they pay better than most but no one says how much.   It isn't enough whatever it is.

There are much better companies out there.  Webmedx has 3 or 4 new accounts starting soon.   I haven't been there but about 3 weeks, but I am impressed with what I have seen and they pay well with the chance to early up to 2 cpl more with incentives.

Benefits are very good, they have direct deposit and if it falls on a holiday you get paid early.  Six paid holidays, a week PTO that goes up based on years of employment.   I don't know insurance rates because I am not eligible yet, but they pay for things like life insurance, short and long-term disability, accidental death.  They offer paid training and you get 25% above our usual line rate for at least a week after that to compensate for having to learn a new account.

Their platform is Word-based and their Expander is Shorthand, though you may be able to use another, depending on if it will interface with their system.   It is a bit overwhelming at first, but by the third day of training I was pretty comfortable.   They also provide all equipment, though you do need high-speed internet - either DSL or cable, as it is a web-based system and you need to be on-line to work.

This is their normal. If you look back through the archives
in addition to the fact that they offshore, you will find multiple complaints about them not returning calls/e-mails.
Everyone keeps referring back to the archives...sm
there is absolutely NO information about this place. Can you maybe post a little about this place? thanks.
Well, I was thinking I couldn't make enough $$ but I truly didn't stay long enough..SM
to really give it a chance. I know that now. I started but got cold feet and went back to my old job. I really liked their benefits, and I'd be willing to give it time, this time, to get more used to the account and system, etc.

I was just wondering if they ever hired anyone back. Thanks for asking and not flamning. :)
People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check
after insurance deduction. Maybe your bank is holding it. Maybe anything! But we GOT PAID. This is NO LIE. And I am sick of this board. Nothing but disgruntled exemployees arguing with employees who like their job. Ugggg. I am working. BTW: THERE IS WORK (clears throat) remember that? Work?
Search the archives back for the few months.

There' s lots of info on SoftScript.  In my opinion, not a good place to work and I'm glad I didn't accept their offer.

I also got put on 2 atrocious ESL accts with them last year. Couldn't make any lines. These dudes

I left but came back. sm
I was considered a hospital employee.  I left.  They sent me the PL but it took about a month and it was hit heavily with taxes.  I then went back.  I would call your usual POC.  I have found this company to be honest in dealing with me.
You won't be able to make any money there.
Especially if you have to enter ALL of the patient info.
MAKE MONEY ?
How on earth can anybody make a decent pay with this editing crap?? It is not user-friendly...it is slow and they pay is even more crapier !
Can you make any money?

Hi all,

Just wondering if if is possible to make much money doing transcription for these companies at home.  I just started with one and they are very nice, professional, etc. etc., however I feel I am moving along at quite a good pace and am just making a little over $10 an hour.  I was hoping for more like $25.  Is it possible anywhere?  Let me know what the average pay is?

I wish I would get more OPS, always make more money with them.
nm
I think MTs believe NO ONE should make money but them!
If no profit is to be made, no one will be in business - whether it is a small MTSO, an MT on her own, or a national. Heck, even a hospital will close if it isn't making profit!

Business is to make money. Competition is so high for companies/MTSOs. It's not the MTSOs fault, is it? No. They have a right to make a profit for their work.

I'm like you: I don't agree with everything going on in the profession but I am very happy with my work and always have been. I can accept the things that I cannot change. Otherwise, if I am unhappy, I move on. No sense sitting around being glib about something you have every opportunity to change.
Sometimes you make LESS money
Because of having rounded experience, you sometimes get all the crap/scrap work.

How do you make money like this?
Are most of the reports full listens? Does it balance out with lots of reports with only 1 or 2 blanks? I'm considering an offer and need to know if I can make any money with Focus on escription?
How do you make money on VR?
Please tell me how to make $50 an hour with Escription.  I need to be making more than 7cpl.  My husband can't work so I have to take care of my kids.  Please email me any info on how to make money on Escription.  Thanks so much
At TT, can I really make as much money with VR
nm
Put money back from each check. That is how you afford to pay taxes.
:}
I personally know of one MT who left, but came back after...
approximately 5 months of working for another national.  She's been back for a few months and it's going well.
Probably the one who left and came back recently
Heard she was planning to leave again.
I am with you. Left a while back. Very disappointed.

make more money at Wal-Mart
and they give you a piece of the company

Etransplus--can you make money there
Does anyone know about etransplus.  Upon until now the feedback I have gotten has been pretty good looking through the posts.  I was really taken aback by the amount of styles they have.  Wow, what a change for me.  I know I can get used to it, but I know I'm going to probably take some time.  How do their line counts jive with a character count line?  I really liked the fact that they offered insurance for 900 lines a day.  That is great.  I hope I can bang out the lines!
At Spheris, if you want to make more money
you have to go to a higher level account, period.

That is the only fair way to do this, in my opinion.
so why not buy a few shares and make money off them anyway?
x
I make great money there
I do not do radiology, but ER and basic 4, and I make 10 cpl, have tons of work, and make a great living there. That is just my own experience. Others may have had different experiences there.
You can make a lot more money than that at home
NO MSG
MT's often make more money than managers too
.
hard to make money
One account has a rotten platform that doesn't work half the time and has a long record of miscounting lines.  Just about everything is 100% listen which makes it even harder to make money by the line.  Big turnover in account managers lately so expect to work for phone clerks and HR clerks who have been promoted to account manager (cheaper that way) and people who have no acute care experience whatsoever.  You've probably already been told there is no holiday pay, the vacation time sucks, and the insurance is horrible.  If you just need editing experience to move on, that that's the place.
i make more money at home but
you must be disciplined to sit and not get distracted. There are a lot of distractions at home.. I do know I save a lot of money not using my car.
And that might just explain why MTs can't make any money. nm
