If you looked closely, they were dead on the vine THEN

It was all a ruse, a facade or pretense of caring. It was in an effort to avoid an en masse uprising and, to their credit, it worked.

The ONLY thing given any thought was the amount of $ involved and how long it took to get it to the bank.

I'm going to start watching this more closely also. (sm)
Do you think the lag will get worse as new accounts are added?
Read closely and notice the year, hello!
The transcription business has taken a nose dive from what we used to make to now, look at the year I made this amount. Much happier now with VR because now I have made enough in the past to have a really good social security check coming in this year. I work part time, get retirement and SS and all those combined makes for an excellent income. Very happy now, thanks.
Then you aren't reading yours very closely. Mine is wrong more often than it is right. sm
Missing PTO time and pay is always the case. To make matters worse, their idea of correcting it is to make you wait 2 weeks until the next pay day to get what is due.
Sorry. You're right. I guess I should have read that message more closely.

Short attention span, now listen closely
I have reached the age of retirement. I do not have children to raise. I have a husband who pays for the housing, the vehicles and I pay only small household bills as in gas and electric. I have no debts. That was not the case years ago but now is. I work PART time now, my choice. I do not have to work 2, 3 and 4 jobs, don’t now even have to work part if I do not want to. I have money in the bank, financially well off now and will get in almost $2,000 a month now on social security because of my strong earnings in the past. I do not have to struggle like in years past. What do you not understand now? As my daughter says, don’t hate.
I did notice that one job posting stating exactly that, haven't followed the trend closely, thoug

Yes, GP is dead serious! S/M

While MT Stars will not voluntarily give out personal information, I seriously doubt they would be inclined to defy a court order.  Anyone who thinks their identity is truly annonymous might ought to think again.

It occurs to me that it is very interesting that someone(s) are attacking me as they are.  Could be that someone(s) finds it objectionable that I am standing up for MTs who work under the most difficult and unfair conditions of any group since the coal miners?  Undoubtedly some MTs have better working conditions than the majority.  This board is only one of my sources and the allegations of MTs with 20+ years not being able to find employment, no OT pay, being forced to flex  their schedule to get required lines but flexing only to the benefit of the employer, being fired or forced to quit for speaking up, etc. etc. are true in one form or another for the vast majority of MTs.  That doesn't even touch the subject of people paying good money to attend MT schools and never being able to find employment.  Many do find employment, the majority do not.

Seems like you are kicking a dead dog. (sm)
I assume you have contacted them yourself. Sorry, but I have no idea why they didn't give you work or why you had to pay shipping yourself. I understood the standard was they gave you a shipping label, you called Fed Ex and they picked up and delivered said package.

I assume you did deduct this as a loss from your taxes in the past?
I would! This profession is all but dead
@
You are dead right, my friend
That's right, it did come from an apparently specifically-created email account, so it would not have come back undeliverable. Someone was on the other end of that email account, and apparently the Yahoo Fraud Group contacted them.

Obviously the VP wanted the poster aware of the fact that her 'resignation' had been accepted. In the VPs position, I would have been mortified if an employee informed me they had NOT resigned and that was in fact not their email address. A cursory glance would have proven to the VP that this 'resignation' email came from a different (yet deceptively similar) email account.

I think this entire situation reeks and I hope the OP has all of this documentation printed off and seeks legal counsel. I remember her posting about All Type discontinuing the hourly rate and only paying the per-line rate, and although I have not searched the archives to re-read that post, I certainly do not recall her saying she was resigning because of it, nor do I recall other posted 'rants' as indicated by the 'about seeing an attorney' post. I also do not believe the OP even mentioned All Type by name in her original post about having her hourly salary cut, so I'm wondering how her alleged co-worker even knew that was an All Type employee.

Too many questions with no apparent explanations.
Grammar is dead.
I wish it were not so, because I'm with you - reading some posts almost makes my eyes bleed.  I get such stuff from supervisors, from the owner of my company, from friends and it all drives me nuts!  I think the advent of ''instant communication'' has killed thoughtful written expression.  Don't U disagree?  Nobody takes the time to proofread anymore - just bang out a message, maybe run spellcheck, and hit SEND.  Nobody sees the point that there is a difference between the word then and the word than.  They now are used interchangeably.  Gaaag!  There, their, they're; to, too - all the same, right?
bet you're dead wrong on that one!
!
Its going offshore because so many brain-dead MTs
admittedly don't care if the company they work for offshores. I refuse to work for any company that offshores. I am an AMERICAN and until every American has adequate work, I say, keep our work here. We are being the authors of our own demise by our I have got mine kinds of selfish attitudes.
Beating a dead horse
Not sure about NOW but they used to hire a lot of people M-F who had to work only 1 weekend per month. I chose to work on a weekend day because of more money but a lot of people that were hired still work M-F and rotate weekends.
Dead horse is right, Sharon
These people do not want to listen to reason, do not want reassurance, and quite frankly do want to have to expend the brain cells to LEARN. They'd rather trash the company, VR programs and MTs like us who are successful at it and make good money at it. No point wasting your time or effort.

I say let 'em go...Sounds like TTs better off without them and I'd hate to think I have co-workers of this mentality.

Have a nice dinner out...One of the beauties of working for TT (even on VR, lol) is the extra money for the nicer things in life. At least when all of these posters bail we'll have even more work and even more money to enjoy the finer things in life!
thats 'worth' and...EACH above. sorry, dead hands. NM

Beating a dead horse here, but

If these companies came on here and started naming employees that were bad news, you all would be in a hurry to find a way to make it someone else's fault.

There must be grounds for the poster to be sued by TT or else a lawyer wouldn't have taken the case.  Who wins?  No one.

The poster allegedly being sued came on here to gather up a herd of followers and then closed her thread.  I don't see her posting any longer, do YOU?  But, you are here to defend her?  For what reason?  It makes no sense to me.

Whoever this person being sued in my OPINION has screwed up this board for the last few days.  It is nothing but fighting and bashing!  That poster is gone with the wind now, probably never to return again and we're all at each other's throats.

Can we please quit beating this horse; it's dead; deader than a doornail!

Your post is so dead-on! Agree with everything you said.

Spelling police are dead on these boards now.

They will pry my expander out of my cold dead fingers.
And THEN they'll find out what Cranky REALLY means......
Cannot answer TTS posting below- beating dead horse

Very strange, never saw where you could not reply to a posting, but the ones below to TTS are just like that. First of all, baloney to all- TTS is a great place to work, been there several years now, they do not bother you and how, pray tell, think about it, can you possible work at your own home and have someone miles away KNOWING when you take a bathroom break, get a glass of water - that is unless you had been gone for a longgggggggg time. Who is trying to post and pull someone's leg? I think the board has been hijacked.

Alright, no sense in beating a dead horse so
know what I am able to do and sorry you all are faced with something apparently lots are resistant to. I am leaving for the evening to have a nice dinner out.
Against. Dead/dying for MT now days for sure(30+ years MTing
.
I can't figure out how to use the shorthand properly (brain dead I guess) (sm)
Maybe I haven't taken enough time to learn it (I can be a bit impatient with myself), but I seem to have a mental block and have about given up.  I used to have Smartype with my old system (before DQS) and wonder if it worked with Vianeta.  Anyway, anyone out here, what do you use other than the ShortHand that comes with it?
Maybe the one you got looked better
The one I received appeared childish and not at all professional.
Looked them up.......
and it said there was 1 employee. Maybe it is a 1-woman business and she needs help for a while. That would explain not paying on time (she has to wait to get paid before she can pay anyone else). I would proceed with caution.
have you ever actually looked into this??? SM
YES, you can't get benefits for half, but the coverage is all but worthless! Basically covers a disaster and nothing more. HUGE deductibles, etc. So yes, you can get an insurance policy for half the cost, but for what? Trust me, I have spent hours researching this for my own family when we needed our own benefits. It was awful.
Just looked
At their hospital list and they definitely ARE NOT hospitals that they service, they couldn't possibly, as a lot of the hospitals are accounts that I work on for Medquist
yea i looked
yea i have looked an the job seekers forum but did not see anything. i have no idea where else to look. i really want to find something online though.
Just looked
Don't know anything about SS, but I looked at the posts and they are really stupid and very immature. Also served no purpose whatsoever.
I never really looked at it that way....
xx
Have you looked in the............. sm
yellow pages at the physician listings lately? The Indian physicians are coming to the US where they can make money off of insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid.

I worked for an Indian physician in the 1990s and he told me that he was thrilled to be able to come to America to do his residency where he made $5 an hour reading telemetry strips and EKGs while completing the residency program. He told me that doctors in India make so little because there is no insurance program there, and even if there were, the majority of Indians are so poor they couldn't afford it.

We Americans tend to forget that not every country in the world is as highly developed as we are in terms of health care, technology and even general living conditions.
Well, DUH! Guess I could have looked that up, eh? (LM)

(Smacking myself for being not so smart.)  Thanks!

Well, I DID look it up, and this is what I found for my state.  (I would think that working on a platform that is unreliable and defective, in addition to losing more than half of what I had been making, in addition to management's knowledge for several months now that the program doesn't work and refusal to fix it -- might fit into one of these categories).

VOLUNTARY QUIT

UC Law provides, in part, that a claimant shall be ineligible for benefits for any week in which his/her unemployment is due to voluntarily leaving work without cause of a necessitous and compelling nature. A claimant who voluntarily quits continuing work has the burden of proof in establishing good cause for quitting; and, that such cause was real and substantial, leaving the claimant no other alternative. The burden is on the claimant to show that, prior to quitting continuing employment, he/she made every reasonable effort to maintain the employer-employe relationship.

Following are examples of some common voluntary quit situations.

Due to unsuitable work - When an employe accepts a position, he/she admits to the initial suitability of the position with respect to its wages and the conditions of employment. When a claimant quits because he/she feels the job was unsuitable, the claimant must show there were changes in the conditions of employment, to which he/she did not agree upon, that made the job unsuitable, or there was deception on the part of the employer with regard to the conditions of employment at the time of hire, or he/she shall be considered ineligible. The suitability of the work will be determined by considering factors such as the degree of risk involved to the claimant's health, safety and morals; the claimant's physical fitness; the claimant's prior training and experience; the distance of the available work from the claimant's residence; the prevailing condition of the labor market; and the prevailing wage rates in the trade or occupation.

Job not the same as what was anticipated - To be eligible, the claimant must show that the monetary expectations of employment were not fulfilled through no fault of the claimant. For example, a claimant takes a job selling vacuum cleaners because he/she has been told he/she could make $50,000 per year through commission sales. After three weeks, the claimant quits the job because he/she was unable to make any sales and the personal expenses exceeded the income, thereby warranting the allowance of benefits.

I looked at it and don't thing that gives

I see 206 people have looked at

this post but not one commented back on a specific. Guess that means all is okay out here in MT land. Cuckoo. Cuckoo.

I looked in the Archives.
its in there.
Have you looked for work lately
Evidently you have not changes jobs lately, you are lucky to get 8 with tons of experience.
Exactly why the business is looked upon as
housewives doing not much of anything except just typing. I guess you put the above on your resume, huh, rearing children?
i looked at the article...
and it still does not clear up the line count issue for me at all. : (
I looked inside...

You are wrong on this one.  There is no problem with a company requiring a certain number of lines from an IC.  They cannot tell you which hours to work, but they can require a certain end result.  Get it?  Go back and read the IRS definition of an IC.

duh, I never even looked at your moniker

I would ask for a different primary, but I'm not sure I would go into details with your liason at the risk of jeopardizing a good working relationship with him/her.  Good luck.

Look again. I just looked at their website. SM
It states on the homepage in the first paragraph -- all Encompass employees reside in the United States.

Also states under Why Encompass? U.S. based transcriptionists -- never outsourced overseas.

OP said she looked in archives..
But I will take you up on that as I also thought of applying.
I have just looked at their benefits sm
I work for TT right now and the benefits, incentives, etc. are similar. I am very happy and comfy at TT and will stay there. Nothing worth switching for.
I saw that ad and looked suspicious to me.

Anytime there isn't a legit company name or phone number and/or town, makes me wonder.  Maybe his name is Balla Honor;-) AKA no honor involved at all.

have you looked at the job board

Most you're lucky if you see 8 cpl.   hmmmmm....   this business is going down the tubes quick....

Just had a friend tell me - was offered 5.00 per report for long dictations and 5 cpl for short ones, but need to work weekends as an IC - yeah right.  Are we back in the 80s??????

I too looked hard
for awhile, and came up with nothing better or more promising. This is definitely a tough job market.
I just looked at Transcend's forum,
and I do not see these happy people who posted 2 messages today about how happy they are?  Are you sure you work for the same Transcend I am refering to?  I do not see all those posts you are referring to.  I am looking for them now and do not see them--where are they??!!
