They want you to keep your schedule for TAT purposes but will work with you to find a good schedule
I love working there.
paperwork
Hi, Not with this company, but if they are overwhelemed it will take time -- also, Fed Ex and UPS are recovering from the holidays and may have subsitutes on the routes -- ie -- I live in rural FL and my roommate FREAKED today because she thought someone was in the mailbox -- sub carrier -- they a lot of times are NOT familiar with the route and the BEST thing that I can suggest to ANYONE is to call the company and get the tracking # -- I did it and most are very accommodating and that way you can see if it is in transit -- if it says delivered and a time and its not under a doormat, in the yard, in a mailbox, etc THEN worry
paperwork
Did you get yours via email? How long did it take to receive it? I was half expecting to get it today because everything else went to quickly.........
Paperwork
Yes, I got an e-mail with attachments to print out all the paperwork required. Then, I filled it all out and faxed it back.
I have already gotten a call from their IS to check my computer system, which they did, and now just waiting for the ID #'s from hosp and then IS will call me back to load software into my comp. Heard from them today, said I should be good to go by end of this week.
Paperwork
My God....that was pretty quick...wished I owned my on computer....would apply....
Paperwork?
When did you receive that paperwork?  I've received nothing in the mail at all from Transcend.  From the communications I've gotten, it's just going to transfer over, which I would hope means all of our information as well.  I know they are supposed to be sending us the policy and procedures manual.  Is that what you are talking about?
Can you check you paperwork again
it was Sten-Tel in MA. To my knowledge, they email all paperwork as attachments. That is how I received mine. Most companies don't go through the expense of mailing this. They refer you to their website if you are just inquiring. If you have been hired, they email the info to you.

What you have said does not sound like Sten-Tel in Springfield, MA - AT ALL.
New hire paperwork
Did you mail or fax back all the new hire paperwork? I had to pay Kinko's $1.50 per page to fax back 15 pages as I don't have a fax machine and don't know anyone who does. It would be nice if they would mail the paperwork and allow MTs to mail it back as opposed to them emailing it and placing the responsibility on the MT to print out several pages and then find a way to fax it all in....expensive if you don't have a fax machine.
In all paperwork sent before hire, probably are
x
The current paperwork
they gave me mentions that very thing and how if the doctor changes Dear Dr X to Dear Bob, if it is not changed MTs don't get paid. This must be a big issue with the docs so they are sticklers on this I guess. So I guess I have no excuse and should not have that problem.
I actually switched from a M-F schedule to a S-T schedule...sm
because of the financial situation.  I was offered a lot better money to work this schedule on a particularly picky account.  I can live with working on Sunday evenings because that is when my 2 teenage kids, also very active in sports, band, church, driving, dating, social life, etc., etc., are vegging on the couch, relaxing for the evening before it all starts again.  It was worth the sacrifice to me to be able to afford all the activities, and it really is not much different than working the M-F shift.  I do have Fridays off to kind of catch my breath while the kids are at school or go and take care of business.  I do not feel I have given up any of my life to work on Sundays.  Most companies will be flexible on the schedule for Sunday because of church, family dinner, whatever.  The way I look at it is later on, I may be able to switch to a M-F schedule if I am willing to give a little now.  Even if I don't, to me it was worth it for the extra money and mommy time I get on Fridays.  I am widowed so I do put a lot of time into my kids.  This is just what works for me.  On the other hand, it is ok to only want to work M-F, there is nothing wrong with that.  You have to do what is best for you.
Sorry, meant 'your paperwork'

that does sound like a lot of paperwork...just curious though
I applied for the orthopedic position and was sent an email with 4 pages to download. After reading the info, my computer met only 1 requirement. Did your computer meet all the requirements needed to work for them? CONGRATS!
Ditto here just sent back all my new paperwork!
Good riddance to OSi.
You get paid for the shuffling paperwork.
Maybe it makes up for the motormouths who dictated a full page in 1 minute. Actually if you are a fast (and accurate) Transcriptionist you can probably make $25 to $30 an hour.
I don't remember filling out all that paperwork.

I remember how peeved everyone was about having to do it and I think it was resolved without the background checks, etc. I could be wrong, 'cause that was about 2 years ago and my memory fails me after 1-1/2 days. LOL

I surely would like some truth for a change and not inuendos or plain old hate towards the company from posters. They never really answer the questions posted on where they get their facts, so I question if their posts are truthful or if they just want to cause trouble, or rile everyone up like they have been doing.

I was hired, called by Becky, sent the paperwork, sent it in sm
and waited two weeks for an ID. I have been working for three weeks now and it is great. Obviously, your situation was unique as I came to KS on the recommendation of two of my ex-co-workers and they had no problems either, both with KS for a few years. Get over it. If you want to work for them, call and talk to them. If you don't, move on. Why are you rehashing the same thing over and over. What do you want the outcome to be?
How long does it usually take to get started once you fill out paperwork for MDI-FL? sm.
I filled out my paperwork about a week ago and have not heard from anyone.  Does anyone know how long it usually takes to start with MDI-FL?  Or has anyone had any problems hearing back from there once they said You are hired?
Ugly! Don't know about Rad, but a bud of mine was overwhelmed with paperwork, pay was low, and it
s
I filled out the paperwork and late the same day they called
to setup an interview the next day and I was immediately offered a position.   They have a large account coming on-line very soon and are trying to train several people too, so there may be a backlog.  I was hired 2 weeks ago and start training later this week.
I think the new hires really need to read thier paperwork. They get a ton of it.
sdf
Didn't you get paperwork, offer letter, etc? sm
If they offered you a position and are already so far as setting you up with your account I would have thought you would have already filled out the required paperwork and sent in copies of your Social Security card, etc. (so you would know which company hired you).  That said, there is only one Keystrokes of which I am aware.  I would call them.
Just filled out my new hire paperwork today-sm
I'm glad to hear encouraging things. I'm really excited! I'm just P/T so all the OT stuff and what not does not apply to me anyway.
You'll get employment paperwork via email. sm
The HR person is out emergently today and yesterday, so there may be a delay. Storm on its way to Illinois today too!
read again; not only does the paperwork say Hard Wire ....

Anyone currently with Oracle? Do they still drown you with paperwork and endless acct.

Let me check my paperwork and I'll shoot you an email. NM

I applied, tested, returned my paperwork and NOTHING.. no followup ...NOTHING

Disorganization is my number 1 pet peeve and reason for NOT going any further with a company. I used my time to apply and test and fax paperwork back so you'd think they could have done their part and at least followed up. I could even assume that maybe they didn't get my paperwork, that does happen with fax machines, but you would have thought someone would have emailed, called, something to ask where it was. I would not accept a position with a company like that. My thoughts are this....if they are so unorganized that they cannot receive the paperwork and get you going, then am I sure that I will get my checks on time and that they will not get ignored or put aside. So, for me, I'd give them a thumbs down.

I can't find the exact paperwork now, but thought there was a choice sm
between $500 deductible and $1500 deductible, with about a $20 difference in the premiums each pay period.  Otherwise, both plans are identical with a $20 or $30 copay for doctor visits.  However, I could be wrong about both -- wouldn't swear to it.
Not just MT, any computer skills, paperwork, etc. could be difficult. I am just guessing. (nm)
.
If you read your paperwork, you'll see that is an option they have. Also, the state of Illinois
does not have right to work law, any employer can fire you at any time without cause.
Recent contact who was there said they were unorganized, paid low, & flooded you with paperwork.
s
anyone have trouble with focus infomatics sending hire paperwork
or trouble getting paid?  I am not off to a good start with them in that regard ... they won't/haven't sent me any paperwork and i refuse to work for free.  thanks.
Company emails and paperwork with lots of typos and misspellings
I recently started working with a small MTSO. In just about every email from the owner, I see typos, misspelled and misused words. Also, the same goes for all paperwork I have received. Even the QA manager does the same thing.

Would you bring such things to their attention?
An acquaintance told me acct specs and reams of paperwork were ridiculous.
s
I was told this morning that it is in the works, final paperwork signed last Friday. sm
My single coverage is only $184 a month. I do not know where you heard over $500.
Form an LLC (limited liability corporation) if you are an IC by filing legal paperwork SM
that way no one can sue your personal assets away, only those of your business entity, even if it is only your IC company in your name. This can be done through a lawyer or at companies such as legalzoom. this limits your liability and protects your personal assets. otherwise, they can take away all your assets, including your joint assets of your spouse.
schedule
Do you give them a set schedule or a window of when you will work? What confuses me about the "set schedule" is that we are contracted to produce certain # lines, not hours. So if you are satisfied with your line count but are scheduled for 8 hours, do you still have to complete all 8?

Also, I haven't asked them yet, but are we allowed to work extra hours/days outside our schedules?

How are they with time off? How much notice would you give for a 1-week vacation?
Right now I have no set schedule, so I will
nm
I never ever have the same schedule sm
and it's worked fine for years now. I don't know what I can do - this flexibility is the only reason I have stuck with MQ this long.
schedule

I read through all the posts below yesterday, and a couple of them mention a grid with all days and hours listed and you have to mark what hours you will work (but that this has to be approved by supervisor).  It didn't sound like it had to be continuous hours and you could work several split shifts.

I agree about needing the flexibility.  It's the only reason I have stayed with MQ.  I  am a part time SE too and I have another full time job.  Half of the time I am available to work, there is no work to do,  so I have had to be flexible to even get in my quota.  I know if I give them a set schedule, there won't be work half the time, so what do you do then?   Another thing, my schedule changes from week to week, and from what I read below, it sounds like it is just one grid, so that would mean that your schedule would have to stay the same from week to week -- doesn't work for me either.

It's too bad -- they are going to lose a lot of good MTs over this

No, not still with them. No set schedule.
You are an IC with them. You have 24 hours to complete your work and return via FTP site. At least that was my routine on my account. Don't know if every account is the same.

I no longer work for them as I went out and got my own accounts and the account I was on with them was lost to a larger national - go figure!

They are pretty decent company, but I don't know what kind of work load they have - you will have to talk with them.

Like I said, pay is always on time, correct and accurate, and you work as an IC, last I knew.

All you can do is give them a try.

As far as work load, 1200 lines a day +/-. Not enough for me!

Not too bad, if you like a schedule
I worked for them for about 2 years.  I had worked as an IC and thought I would try switching to employee status.  They were great in the fact that they sent all my equipment, training was even fun (great trainers), supervisor and tech support always responded quickly.  However, once you set a schedule you must adhere to it.  You are actually only allowed to deviate once a month, depends on your supervisor though.  For me, that was a problem.  After being an IC for many years it was hard to go back to a schedule.  I'm working as an IC again now and hope I never have to go back to being an employee.  I wish you luck!
They ask you the schedule you will be
working. It works out well for me because I work in the morning and again at night.
MDI-MD schedule
When I was hired, I was told I could make my own schedule as long as I worked two Saturdays a month. It works for me. They get the needed coverage and I get time with my family.
Do ICs have a set schedule? sm

I've never really worked as an IC but now am considering PT IC work but honestly doubt I could adhere to a set schedule because I have a FT QA job as an employee.  Are there companies that hire without having one?

Thanks!

schedule (sm)
It is really not that rigid.  They would like to know when you are on; for example, should they have a stat or something and want to route it to you.  I have never encountered a problem there even though I have been there less than a year.  I take a lot of breaks, but not really long ones.  If I have to go out for something, they only want you to let them know.  I guess the main reason would be, like if you are scheduled for 5 a.m. start and you work on preops, that could potentially cause a problem if you don't get on till 7. I have never had a problem with this, though.
schedule (sm)
I pretty much stick to my schedule also.  I do take a lot of breaks, cause at my age, I stiffen up if I don't - LOL - there have been several occasions where something has come up and they have always been nice about it and let me make it up.  I'm also happy there.
There's some that let you schedule...sm
8 hours in a 12-hour window. Maybe someone else knows more.
Schedule
They like a schedule or idea when your are going to be working so they can staff the account properly but sometimes I will work a few hours in the morning, take off a few hours and come back in the evening. In other words, your not tied to sitting there 8 hours straight. The jobs are put in your queue when you ask for them. They usually just come up a few at a time and say you had 3 in the queue. You finished one and had to go somewhere then it'd just throw the other two back into the queue for someone else to pick up. Not a big deal. I have never worked for a company so flexible. I love it. I get my lines in but I do it around my schedule with kids and other things in my life. Hope that helps some.
