The state you live in or the state where the MTSO is located? nm
nm
No. What state are they located in? nm

Anyone know where (what state) ROI is located??
Rapid Outsource imaging.  Anything else about the company...pay, platform, would be great!
What state are you located in?
xx
Look it up in the state the company is located. sm
You should be able to download a form or they'll send you one.
What company is this? Or at least tell us the state in which it is located, please.

Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need.  I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
You are correct. The state that rules is the state the employee lives in.
My state laws has is spelled out in their Code. If another state does not withhold, they are fined heavily and if they don't withhold for years, their fines are pretty bad. I worked for a Florida co that did not withhold income tax for my state even after I brought it to their attention in the state code. They kept saying that they would eventually and never did. After two plus years and when I left, I made it known to my state all the conversations, the state refunded me all late fees they charged me and then said they were going after the company in Florida because they had many employees in our state. They deserved it. They knew better.
There is at least 1 facility that requires US MTs only.
It is actually their largest account. I worked for them a few years ago and worked another service that did this same hospital. This hospital is very picky and absolutely will not allow any offshore work. I guess they will have to keep all US MTs on that particular account in order to keep it.

I would invite all DRC MTs to come on over to TransTech, you will find a home here.
Facility at fault?
If the facility has in-house MTs, they often outsource the crap work to the MTSO. It's another good reason why working inhouse might be better, if the jobs were available, and if we really wanted to go outside our homes, that is.
Contact the facility...
I don't think people are supposed to be sharing that information here.
I would call the HR for each facility and ask.
If it isn't done in-house or by their own home transcriptionists, they will usually tell you which company has the account.
I do not agree with what the facility...
is doing, either, and if you bothered to read my post above you would see that I said exactly that. But we cannot control what the facility does, we can only control what we do. Two wrongs don't make one right. That means, the MT either negotiates higher pay, finds a new job or gets out of the industry completely. By continuing to work the way she is, she is putting patients at risk.

All right, I've made my point here. We will have to agree to disagree. Have a nice day.
Medware does. Has their own training facility over there. nm

Any acute care facility. sm
That's the thing about hospitals - they run 24/7 - 365.
Regarding no work - if a facility is running
low on work and they have an inhouse staff, they will withhold work from MTSOs to keep their own employees busy. Just makes common sense.
P.S....or if facility is closing and provided that
Which they almost certainly would in most cases. This law has NOT proven to provide the protection for laid off workers that you seem to imagine.
Anyone ever hear of Spine One Medical Facility?

nm

More than 1/2 the time you don't get actual facility samples, tho, just
s
Or to work in an outside facility. Good luck to ya! :) nm

Depends on how long it takes to get your ID from the facility. SM
Once that happens, they get you installed and going pretty quickly.

You can probably call them about the Lanier unit to see if they have any to rent to own.

When I worked with them, the insurance was very expensive and not very good. They have promised to get better, but that has been going on for a long, long time.
General Facility with a cast of TTers.

If company is in state that has no state taxes
they are not required to take out state taxes.  It's enough to keep up with your own state tax law code, could you imagine having to stay abreast of 49 other state tax codes?  The cost would be huge and ultimately passed on to us by lower line rates.  Regardless of who owes the tax, someone has to pay it.  Just a matter of convenience I guess.
Not state by state, federal labor law - sm
and you don't have to be asked. If you work it, asked or not, they have to pay time and a half OT rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.

Taken right from U.S. Dept of Labor -
An employer who requires or PERMITS an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)MUST receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.

Extra pay for working weekends or nights is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative). The FLSA does not require extra pay for weekend or night work or double time pay.

Different state to state. You would be surprised to find

IC can be defined differently state to state.  Even the IRS cannot come up with a definitive set of rules.  You would be surprised how many ICs actually get unemployment in some states.  If the unemployment claim form asks specifically if you are an independent contractor, do not lie, but if it does not, do not volunteer it.  Let the company prove you are a true IC according to the rules of your state.  All you lose is a few minutes filling out the claim form.  I would only do it as a last resort.  If you can find work fast, by all means go for it, but the way things are now with all the VR and off-shoring, it is a backup if you cannot find work.  No one should go hungry because they are afraid to file for Unemployment as an IC.

Does any facility hire MT directly as IC or employee for eScription? sm

I do not want to work through a service again.  I am tired of running out of work. If anybody knows of any leads, even if they aren't hiring right now, please e-mail me privately.  All responses will be confidential.  I am looking for something for myself, not to be posted to others.

Thank you in advance.

MW has it's own training in facility in India, so offshoring is growing with them. nm
MW India
I looked facility up on line - checked careers and found they had a current opening for MT there. (
That pretty much told me they did have inhouse. It was an MT position for acute care, not just one of the ancillary departments.

They should take out state taxes for the state
nm
It varies from state to state
nm
Varies from state to state
My own state recognizes partial unemployment, too, when your work gets cut down to half of your regular workload/income.
They must deduct FEDERAL taxes.. NOT STATE taxes.. if they took out state taxes.. it would be FLORID
which would only have to be refunded to you for you to pay YOUR state what you owe them which is nothing but a pain... be glad they weren't handling your state tax.. and I think in this case.. if someone at the IRS told you they have to deduct YOUR states taxes.. it is that person who is uneducated... they only have to deduce federal income tax

There was an article about how "wonderful" this company is in the Baltimore Business Journal earlier this year. Wonderful, my hiney!! The checks bounce, they are an Indian-owned company, the work is beyond horrible. They also have a couple of American companies that they use as a backdoor, and use an American as the representative front person.
They are located in Ohio....sm
An offshoot of one of the major health systems here in the Akron area. Were just recently started and are trying to get their feet wet in the national arena. Primarily were doing nothing but local work just a few months ago and very disorganized at the time. Don't know what they're like now. Benefits seemed good, comparable, but were just getting started. Originally wanted 150 lph with 98% quality and a rather harsh grading scale. For instance, medical word misuse was minus 5 percentage points, omitted (consequential) dictation minus 5 points, medical misspelling minus 3 points, and so on.... Hope this helps!
