other than that one account, I get a great line count on my main one, but I still say I'd dump any job with a big line count discrepancy. Why frazzle yourself.

I went to MDI-MD immediately after that (I refuse to work for MQ).  D made a few remarks about Carole, how she always said she would never sell and then did ...... and now I guess D heard the call of the almighty dollar as well.  I can't honestly blame them.  If I had worked hard all of my life and built up something and someone offered me a gazillion $$$ for it, I would figure I had earned it, sell, and enjoy the fruits of my labor.  Still, I feel sorry for the MDI folks now.  I am now at Keystrokes, praying that they are not the next company to be gobbled up. 
Ironically, an "employee" would sing the praises of CIT when they were hiring and then I found
the real poster was the manager so I believe this also is management. I think it is pretty low for a manager to pretend to be an employee trying to recruit other people under false pretenses.
Any companies out there that start you at .09 cpl

companies who start off with a bad impression

Sometimes we MTs have tunnel vision about a job and will persevere until we get it, thinking we are getting what we want, only to realize that the warning signs were there from the get-go. 


If a company is rude to begin with, there is no logic in thinking it is going to get better after you are hired.  I now listen to my gut (a show on Discovery Channel pontificated that we have a *second brain* there, a warning brain) and see with my eyes what is real and what is rose-colored.  Those *funny feelings* about things are there to keep us from making mistakes.  Listen to them. 


And I hope you find a soft place to land. 


Are there any companies out there who provide benefits at start....sm
instead of having to wait 90 days?  If so, how are they to work for?
My advice to you is start applying with other companies
Cobra is extremely expensive and you have to qualify for Medicaid.  It is usually for indigent people.  I think it also takes a while to get qualified.  If you get on with a new company and you currently have insurance, you usually don't have a waiting period with your new insurance coverage like you do if you let it lapse.  I've seen ads inviting displaced Heartland MTs to apply with companies. 
What are some easy companies for a remote transcriptionist to start with?
I have been a Transcriptionist for 5 years.  Are there any easy companies out there to start with as a remote MT.  I have tried to work with one company at home but the training process was very complicated and required A LOT of computer knowledge.  I need to know some good companies to check out and some of the ones to stay away from. 
A lot of companies are brand new start-ups, so we won't know anything about them. New places open

I have an idea..we should all start a list of MT companies that are no payers, bad payers, and late
but it is even worse when no one knows their record until they find out the hard way as they sit around waiting to get paid. I think it's rude to bounce checks, pay people late or not at all. We're not all working for free because we wanted to donate our time. We need to work to survive and those companies just prey on people. If they are getting paid, yet they can't pay their MTs, I'd say that someone doesn't know how to manage money. I just find it sad.
Start looking and get out. Yes, they do route the best work
to the favs. No, I don't believe it happens at all companies. The supervision at OSi have wayyyyy to much time on their hands.

slowing down, like not many jobs around? Mine has been off since October and only started at the end of May this past year.


We always dreamed of taking our vacations in the middle of winter when he was off, too, but every year, the work is less and less for him.  Yet his broker has given what little work there is to his favorite guys and he was told some of them are working a day or two a week. It's frustrating. For his type of work (federal and state highways), he needs a broker and there is only one around here. Plus, he still hasn't been paid for work he did in October (2 whole days). We're afraid the broker is going under and, if that's the case, I guess DH will be forced to retire early.

I'm sorry, but as a recruiter it's hard to believe that a company looks at your testing and assumes that you'll buy in to what they're selling before having a long discussion between the two of you. Something's fishy here.
Not out of work here...it was a slow start yesterday

FOR THE LAST TIME....IF YOU ARE A TRUE IC, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A SCHEDULE!!! Whether you emailed them or not is NOT the point. Sheesh!

If you have scheduled hours/a scheduled start and stop time, YOU ARE BEING TREATED LIKE AN EMPLOYEE. GET A CLUE!
I think majority of negative comments start when work is low and
they start looking for another job. I, for one, would rather be too busy and have to work an extra hour or 2 than not to have any work. Overhiring is the death of all of us, since we do not have a guaranteed income unless you are a team leader or hourly employee.

Failure to pay on time is another large problem that will produce negative comments.

If companies were actually above-board with the problems at their company before the hiring process is completed, a lot of this could be avoided.

I missed the earlier posts because I've been working and haven't had a chance to read much on here. I left there about 2 years ago and am glad I did. I feel for those who are still there, especially dealing with the cesspool, and now this, if it is true.

It wasn't me actually. It was someone else and the story they told me. I just wondered if there wasn't something more than just the 97-something percent, one time review that was the reason. It doesn't really make sense.

I have wondered
the same thing myself...what happens to other benefits when there is little to no work?
I have dial-up and make money. I download my work and I can start transcribing

as soon as the first report has downloaded.  Once I download I disconnect, do my work, then connect and send my completed work.   I usually start my download in the morning then go take my shower, feed all the animals, grab myself something to drink and I'm ready to go.   Once the work is downloaded what type of connection you have doesn't matter.  


Sure it is safe to post your resume on the net, provided it is a reputable site.  I would not just post it anywhere, but post it on the job boards here and other reputable sites.   Most sites have some type of safeguards in place so that you have to have registered with the site and/or paid a usage fee to view information like addresses and phone numbers, so that not just anyone can view the information. 


Another option may be an account that has C-phone or similar accounts, where you aren't downloading, but dialing directly into the system. 


 


OMG!!! I wondered why I didn't see her on IM.
She told me that she did not like using the IM but to still always let her or anyone in quality know if we had a question. She was very patient with me and gave me so much feedback, like all the time. It was a hard account, lot of ESL but she knew all about it. She was awesome. I don't know who to ask now for questions.

the transcriptionists that do 2000 lines a day are not rushing through for production sake and sending reports in with mistakes and not looking things up.  I verify everything and fix the template to look neat and tidy since the template I work on needs a lot of fixing before I can even start typing.  I always wondered if being too obsessive about it was one of the reason I never seem to make any lines.  Also, when I have first started with a few different companies and they sent me example reports I have spotted mistakes in them, and then I figured the initials on the bottom of the example report must be from one of their high producers.

At W I only make 7.5 cpl doing rad, but I didn't have much experience, so I thought it was fair.
We band together and start our own company offering our services to the hospitals we've been work

on already and take our accounts back from Transcend.  I haven't signed any noncompete contract with Transcend.  Would the MDI one be null and void? If my pay rate is null and void, so must my noncompete.  They can't have it both ways.

Why offshore to save money if you're just going to have to hire editors to correct the mistakes? Sounds like it DUH-feats the whole purpose of it to me!

Sure has been quiet since they started bouncing checks, not paying their MTs at all, etc.  I just assumed they had changed their name and were incognito somewhere here.

I've wondered about the same thing if...
the IT guy came in remotely and cleaned off anything related to the company and its activities so you were just left with a clean system. Sometime you just like a computer that works great and it would be nice to own it for cheap when leaving a company rather than them paying for shipping back and doing who knows what with it as a used computer when they get it back. Just my thoughts, nothing I have ever done or asked for.
Wondered where my better dictators were when I got on at 3 a.m. this morning.
It is really irritating when pets are put the good/best dictators in their pool and I am put the worst.  Glad you GOT your lines, because I took the beating doing what we should have been sharing, report-wise, rather than leads filling pools of their pets with the good stuff!

Can you give us a clue who you are talking about. I think it is who I also work for if their name just has initials. If it is, then I will tell you what a big part is...they are overhiring for the wrong accounts and acting desperate on other accounts. Ridiculous. Someone does not know how to organize the work flow.

I do not work for them, but I have done recruiting for companies of their type of work
It is A LOT different than regular medical transcription. The pay is a little less (unless you are proficient and fast), but the work is harder in that there are multiple people speaking and the nature of the medical advisory boards are quite detailed. I receive quite a few resumes of medical transcriptionists wanting to do this type of work, but when you test them, it is a whole different ballgame.
