It's usually pretty slow this time of the year and TT is no different. The new accounts

they are hiring for will be starting next month and from what I understand they will need to hire more than 120 MTs between now and the end of the year for the four new hospitals, so I am not too worried about it.

It is slow this time of the year EVERY - anybody that has done......sm
transcription for any length of time knows that.
Is this a slow time of year or what?
?
I think work is typically slow this time of year sm
and I am surmising they are not wanting a backlog to build because a lot of MTs are also taking time off for the holidays leaving a skeleton crew on some accounts. I am sure it will all be busier than ever in a week or so.  I have been able to get my line counts and then some everyday so far.  Everywhere I have ever worked gets a little slow towards the holidays.
Slow time of year = no work. Basically the same. If
x
I would wait it out because it is slow this time of year anways...
then after the holidays, if no better, time to start looking...good luck and hang in there!!!
Webmedx work pretty low. Typical for this time of year? sm
I'm fairly new, so just wondering. Having come from the evil Q, it makes me nervous. While at the Q and a couple other companies, this is not the time of year I typically ran out of work--Christmas, T-giving, 4th of July, yes, now, no. Thanks.
It's neither. It's ALWAYS slow this time of year, between Spring Break and Easter.
By the week after next we'll be drowning in work.
always slow this time of year...doctors take extra days off, et cetera.
it will pick back up again soon...
Yes, pay on time. We give a 2-week schedule. Accounts pretty good

I have 4 accounts, doing all work types, and I usually have enough work but this is the slow time of
year so we are scrambling a little for lines.  Easy platform, paychecks DD, always on time.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)
x
No - it is not always slow! Depends on the company and hospital. I have never been slow this time
Slow time is usually in September when everyone is back to work/school from the summer months.

Been doing this 24 years and never slow this time of year. Actually, I am drowning in work - can't keep up.
Definitely pretty slow here
Yup, it's definitely pretty slow here and it has been all week. At least the hospital account that I work on has psychiatry docs and I have been getting a few long reports from them to get a decent amount of lines in, but hopefully it will pick up next week.
Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

Wow! The new year slow down at TT sure seems to be over!

We are up to our necks in work!  Holy Schmoley!

It's always some excuse with TT. It's been slow for over a year.
nm
Yes! Still waiting for mine..really slow this year...nm
nm
Slow is normal from Thanksgiving through New Year's. (nm)
x
Okay are all the Rad accounts slow?
nm
Several accounts are slow right now
Mostly due to the time of year it is, with winter being almost over, but I'm not at all worried. I have been there a little over a year and have never totally run out of work. It will pick back up soon.
It's not just the platform and accounts that slow you down.

I haven’t worked for WebMedX for a couple of years, but the numbers I had to work with then were as follows (DISCLAIMER:  Just as I was leaving, they were thinking about totally revamping their bonus system, so the numbers below are probably not currently accurate, but will give you some idea of what WMX thinks their MTs are capable of):

140 lines per hour average minimum.  New employees placed on 90 day probationary status to learn platform and account specifics.  Expected to reach 150 lines per hour average after 4 weeks.  Line defined as 65-character line, which includes all body characters and spaces inclusive of formatting characters such as bold, italics, underlines, caps and tabs.  Header and footer characters are not included in the line count.

Bonus paid as follows (in addition to your base pay per line):

Average lines/hr   Bonus per line

160 to 180  =        .0015

181 to 220  =        .0030

221 to 250  =        .0050

251 to 275  =        .0075

276 to 299  =        .0100

300+           =        .0150

This is for the average for the entire two week pay period, so if you have a really great day and hit 500 lines per hour, then have several really bad days at 100 lines per hour, they take the average over those two weeks.

HOWEVER, if you fall below 140 lines per hour average, they DEDUCT pay:

0 to 124     = - .005

125 to 139 = - .0025

WMX is definitely looking to make a profit, so my way of thinking is they feel confident in offering a bonus that will not affect their bottom line and, as far as they are concerned, not going to be achieved by the majority of the MTs working for them.  In fact, when I left, many MTs were complaining that they were no longer getting the same bonuses as they had just a few months prior and they were MTs who had worked for WMX for several years and were already very familiar with the platform and accounts.

As far as getting back up to speed, there are several factors that prevent smooth transition.  First, you are on 100% QA review for the first couple of weeks, at least, and depending on the Editors you get, you may have to completely rethink what you have learned before.  Then, there is the dreaded time clock.  It is totally automatic.    From the minute you log on to get your first report, you are on the clock.  If you stop to look up a drug or find a new surgical instrument, your line count is affected.   They tell you to log out for everything when you are not actually typing.  That means even 2 minutes to stretch or go get a drink from the kitchen.  Next, they seemed to have a lot of platform slowness.  There were times when you could sit for a minute or more just to switch from the demographics page to the actual transcription page, or when trying to release the report.  Sometimes, the platform would just freeze altogether, and you had to reboot.  And they do periodically run out of work, depending on the accounts you have.  So, if you want to keep your line count up, you have to keep logging off, which makes an 8 hour shift turn into a 10 to 12 hour day.  Some people with families just don’t have the time for that.  Not to mention, if they are in overtime, if you already have to put in a 10 hour day to get an 8 hour shift in, overtime will probably have to be on your days off.  Also, most of their accounts are now going to ASR/Speech Recognition, and that system has many bugs left to be worked out that has caused many MTs to complain that they are not making as much money as they were before.

I am sure there are WebMedX MTs just itching to correct me and let you know how great WMX is.  The above are my personal observations/opinions while working for them, just to give you another perspective.

Good luck.

My accounts were pretty decent today

I got almost all of my lines in by 1:00, which is quite a feat for hump day.  I would have finished them then but I promised my kids we'd go swimming.  My accounts were also pretty low the last few weeks, so I'm glad to see them finally picking up.  Maybe the docs really were on vacation.  Who knows?  I just hope it stays this way and I hope everyone else's work picks up soon.

Of course, I'm not putting my blinders on just yet.

It was slow on one of my accounts this summer but picked up. sm
If I were you, I would go to Karyn or Becky, not Martha. Both of them will help you. I think Martha is too busy with new hires but the other two are great with back-up accounts or at least getting the names in front of Martha. Just a friendly tip, not meant to offend or cause flames.
Are they losing accounts. Do most of their accounts stay for long period of time. I have
heard pros and cons about the quality of their work.  I guess it is much cheaper than other companies can offer.
I work for Transcend, love them, but right now a few accounts are slow..so depending on which you
were hired for, do not get your expectations too high. The work can flucuate the key is flexibiltiy. If you have to have a set schedule, I would double check on the work flow for your shift on your account. I would hope that they could be honest, and if I know them, they will be.
has been pretty much on time for me
I've been with SoftScript for over a year and have only had my check deposited late a couple of times. It was deposited early an equal amount of times. Apparently if all timesheets would have been done on time, checks would have been sent out and deposited today.
Yes, but the only slow time for me...sm
was around the holidays for a couple of weeks, but now they are dictating like crazy, I guess they are taking on a lot of new patients. I still worry about this profession tho....I jsut pray daily that the account i work on does not go to EMR.
35K part-time pretty much.

I'm lucky to work as an IC.  Hubby has benefits and makes quite a bit more than me.  However, it is difficult to make a lot if you are working for a national.  There are so many variables in this business.

I've read where people say that ICs make more than employees, and I'm beginning to think that is not true.  As far as I'm concerned, acute care should pay more than clinic, but I do clinic.  I have many years of experience (20+).  I love the flexibility of working from home as an IC though with 2 kids.  Later in life, I may think differentially.  Who knows?

Yes, I am. Things are slow right now, but I have been able to get it every time (sm)

I don't know for sure, but since they are advertising for 44 MTs for the new acct, I'm assuming some are already being hired, and that's why it is slow.  But we will be inundated soon, so I can live with it.  I like to do more than minimum, but I can manage on the minimum.  It will pick up real soon!

How long does this slow time last. nm
:
This is normally a slow time of season
in this field. No one wants to be in the hospital during the holidays, a lot of doctors are out, etc. Also, I think many companies are just overwhelmed with the responses they get to an ad.
I have been with co for a long time. I have it pretty good, but new
xx
Did this for 3 years. No slow time encountered. (nm)
.
Is Future-Net Techology slow to pay all the time?
I've been waiting since last week for my check, still not here. Invoice submitted on 12/14.   I guess, no pay, no work from me.   Blah!
Knowing that the only time work is slow is during
is wonderful and I will flex my schedule any time to keep my job at Transtech.
Goes to show neither of you have been in the MT buisiness very long - It is always slow this time..

of the year..... nm

And they are pushing for year end for all accounts to be on DQS so they can get more work on ASR,
more work overseas and then begin to push EMR. This is the beginning of MQ not needing MTs like they did and that is why they now eliminated SE because everyhing is in place. That is the game plan.
No, full-time only. This is pretty standard whether in transcription or any other field. nm
nm
Litt to no work since Thanksgiving, slow time and overstaffed too????nm

x

The only time I have ever been slow is during X-mas time...
when most other companies are slow too...but I have never run out
beds full at the 4 hospitals I type in Texas (this is never a slow time)

It is not just a slow time....they lost a huge acct and moved many MTs to other accts.......
nm
For the first time in over a year I am
having problems with Vonage. Can anyone tell me what other companies actually allow unlimited LD for work? Embarq (Sprint) informed me a while back that I was not allowed to use my unlimited LD for data processing. TIA
Have been with them for over a year and pay always on time
Talked to a few others and none are having any problems except for you and the other one posted below - you didn't state how long it has been since they haven't paid you - was it this year, last year, last month, etc. - you are not very specific
Yes, this is the 3rd time in 1 year (sm)
since I have been with them that it has been like this.

Sorry.
Yes. I was told it is the time of year.
mtmtmt
and....they always pay on time....4-year employee--nm
nm
Looks normal to me, especially this time of year nm

Isn't this a strange time of year to be out of work?....
I am working for a certain company in Florida and float over 4 accounts and am running out of work constantly and this has been the case for a least a month now.  I am used to being out of work during the Christmas/New Year holiday weeks and even the start of summer or 4th of July, but to me this just seems like the time of year that would be very busy due to kids back in school needing physicals, etc.  Is anyone else experiencing low work with their company or has this one just overhired?  Thanks.
It's just that time of year. Everything is starting to pick up though. nm
xx
TWS 3.8, just seems strange for this time of year. I have 3 accts. NM
