I though unions not legal in some states (right-to-work states) nm

I cannot believe that representatives from any company would come on to this or any other board
and call a poster a liar! My God, that is truly the most unprofessional thing ever. If this person worked for my company, they would be terminated before they could bat an eye! That KS thinks that this is acceptable makes my head hurt. The thing with these boards is that you pretty much have to just ignore what's being said about you. Every single company in this business has, or will have, something bad posted about them at some point. Ignore it and move on. By coming to the board to publically refute the allegations you are just lending credence to the issue and dragging it out. Not to mention looking like a classless, tactless idiot.
ask your senators and representatives to support this bill
One thing you can do is contact your senators and representatives and encourage them to vote for the following bill:

S. 810/H.R. 1653
Clinton (D-NY)/Markey (D-MA)
Prohibits American businesses and health care organizations from sharing consumers’ personal information with foreign affiliates or subcontractors without consent from consumers. Allows consumers to “opt out” of having their personal information processed overseas and bars companies from denying service or charging consumers more as a result.

oh,and when I say, "work belongs to someone else"...
I am referring to the MTs who claim that other MTs are taking work from them (if you read the other posts before you decided to get all high and mighty). C'mon now, understand the concept here! CHEERS!
No. Then you get the great "work for us directly"
xxx
The "work" belongs to the company

If you want consistent work, then hit the pavement and get some accounts for yourself.

Nothing is guaranteed in this profession.  No one has stakes on work given out by a company whether it be to an employee or IC.  Now, the employee should get at least a base rate if there really truly is no work to be given during that agreed upon shift and none of this check back later which is constantly abused in this profession.  ICs are not guaranteed work, I need say no more on that issue, but will state one thing:  If you are an IC and run out of work, get another IC job...  It's that simple.  ICs are free to work for as many companies as they'd like no matter how they like to say set schedule.  If they have no work, you as an IC are forced to take matters into your own hands and find several companies to get work from to make a living.  Cheers!

Virtual job fair

I received an e-mail from Advance announcing their virtual job fairs.  I have no idea if they are for on-site jobs, primarily jobs other than MT, or what, but I thought some here might be interested.  Here is the link:  http://health-care-job-fairs.advanceweb.com/Attendee/default.aspx

your post says you "work for someone else" then says you "have no trouble from them." F
xx
It is not efficient, you are right. However, companies that are all virtual seem to have
I've been working from home for over 15 years. I would say you'll have to toughen up a bit and learn to be extremely watchful and promote yourself and your intentions more.

Unorganized? Maybe a bit.

Uncaring? What the heck do you want? LOL It's a job. They made a mistake. If you want caring, go find a little hole-in-the-wall 1-MT clinic where you can get to know everyone and work. Sounds like you're probably young or never have worked in the real world before.

Remember this about their mistakes: Mistakes happen and I'm betting YOU will make them, too. Do you want them blasting you for it? Do you want them to call you unorganized and uncaring? Do you want them to take the same impression of you as you are taking of them? I doubt it.

Good - they use their virtual office
setting to treat people like crap because they don't have to actually see them face to face.  When they come here they get to see how many people who work for them are unhappy, and um, real people.
I got a gorgeous virtual E-card from the owner
A lot of thought was put into this special card. It was not just any E-card, either. It was specially made by an artist and it was really wonderful. I appreciated this gesture a lot.
VBC= virtual black character link

a bit hard to understand but those out there are sure using the calculators.  This was on the internet and note this VBC listed on a job listing.on MTStars.  Not only have to provide expensive Lanier equip and provide free long distance to their clients but lower line pay.  See how they keep lowering their business client cost. and pass it on to the MT

I thought she meant to a customer because her
friend lost a customer because she thought Keystrokes charged less.
I've been a Verizon customer many years. (sm)
While my job requires having an unlimited long distance calling plan, I had been contemplating making that upgrade to my plan anyway, as I have friends and family scattered throughout the U.S. that I keep in touch with often.  So the change has actually been to my benefit, and my F & F enjoy hearing from me more often as well.
I am a Verizon customer. I have unlimited LD about $40 a month. nm

BCBS customer service number sm
Can someone email me with the BCBS customer service number for health insurance through Webmedx? I am thinking of signing on with them but want to ask them a question about coverage first.

Thanks!
To All Account Managers or Customer Service Personnel

Why is it when we Transcriptionist send you an e-mail asking asking for a backup account when the work has run out....You don't send a reply.... but as soon as the work builds up and you're out of turn-around-time, we are swamped with e-mails.  It would seem common courtesy to send a reply, whether it is a negative response or not.   I have experienced this with more than one company.

Just need to vent this morning, as I am out of work.  Nothing else to do.

Keystrokes accounts are stable. The company treats every customer
like their only. No accounts have been lost. I have been there for 3-1/2 years. Same accounts plus double since I started.
Good point. Who do I get on the phone if I have to call customer service
for my credit cards, or software questions, or whatever?  I get someone who I can barely communicate with in the freakin Philippines, or wherever.  It is so WRONG.
In the early days, MedQuist said working at home was a benefit, therefore at-home sm
employees did not receive as many benefits as those working in-house.  As I believe, it was something like at-home employees got 3 days off a year versus 10 days for the in-office employees -- WHAT?!!!  I told them it made no sense to me, since by working at home I was saving them money -- no need to provide office space, equipment, references, utilities, etc. -- yet I get shafted.  I was only part-time when they took over the previous company with their great policies, and I told them to kiss where I can't.
Why don't you TRY listing them,

the reasons that VR is so great.  Bet you can't think of a thing, can you?

Thought so.

company listing
I know there is a site that lists MT companies but I did not bookmark it.  Can anyone tell me that site please?  Thanks
I don't see any job listing for them on either this site or
the other one. Am I missing something?
I could only find a business listing - sm
Here is a link - search the page for their listing, it's near the bottom of the page.

MQ has typo on its MT job listing web page.
It is only a double period, but still.

Gearplayer on E-bay with one hour to go and only $2.50!! SM for listing #
For those that may not know, Gearplayer is a program that plays voicefiles. The I just bought my Gearplayer in August and it was $90.00. Mine is the newer version 3.3.4. The one listed is a 2.6 version, but you can install the upgrades off the computer. It's in perfect condition. The listing number is below. Good luck!

I noticed their listing on the job board...
and was just wondering about them.  Searched the archives and found nada.
When I clicked on the web site for the job listing at
Vision Infonet Inc that is listed on the Job Seeker's Board, my antivirus program would not let me go any further because the site was apparently trying to download a Trojan horse virus onto my computer.  BEWARE!!!
Data Entry Specialist job listing?

Does anyone know anything about the data entry specialist job listing on the job board?  Is this one of those scam or is it a real job?  I applied for it, but have not heard anything yet.  Has anyone here heard anything about it?

Thanks

Data Entry Specialist Listing

I was wondering if anyone had heard back from this job listing yet?  I got an email today from Stanford Executive Recruitment today with the same information as the job listing and so am assuming that is them.  They want a $14.00 registration fee so I am smelling SCAM.  Just wondering what you all thought or have experienced with this one.

Thanks

Requirements Must have one year of experience in medical transcription

I wanted to apply for a position with a current job listing.

But, they really did not provide much information.  I e-mailed asking for the range of compensation and platform information since the test they want completed is pretty involved.  I never heard anything from them.  Are that many really willing to spend an hour or more testing without the most basic of information being given?  I really did not think it was asking too much.  Makes me wonder ... either enough MTs are willing to test first, find out later or the company is not comfortable enough with what it has to offer to include it in the ad or respond to an e-mail.  Oh well.

Then that distinction needs to be made in this listing of "What All MTs Should be Paid" - sm
There should be a distinction between pay rates for ICs vs those wanting benefits.

11 cpl is not out of range for an IC, but high if you expect me to provide insurance and paid vacation, etc.
Is there a listing anywhere that shows # of employees or size of company? nm )

.

Their listing on mtjobs.com (#11) still has them in Wisconsin. A contact likes working for them,
s
It's not being done here in the states!
..
Unfortunately some states do allow this! sm
Depending on the state in which you live and/or the state in which the company resides, mandatory OT is permissible. Isn't that infuriating? Also, laws state that if you do not follow their mandatory OT ruling, it could be legal grounds for dismissal by the company! Ah, our justice system in the US these days - isn't it just wonderful? NOOOOOOOOOOT!
OSI not hiring in certain states

Has anyone else ever had OSi contact them back to say they are not hiring MTs from their state?  Does this seem like discrimination?  Isn't that kind of like we aren't hiring Caucasians at this time?

OSI not hiring in certain states
I got the same message.   I live in California.
OSI not hiring in certain states
Well that makes no sense that they don't hire people in California. I doubt they have to be licensed in EVERY state. That would cost them a TON of money, but wait...
They DO outsource to India. What does that tell you? huh
3 states away? try to be realistic
nm
Is OSI still in business in the States?
xx
that's fine if the CP states that, but...
NONE of mine state little details like that. Bottom line, you're darned if you do, you're darned if you don't!!
exactly what my post states sm
I said you had to learn a new skill set if you wanted to ever make money on VR, and explained what that new skill set was (manual skills).  Any MT can do VR, but a MT who has no desire how to learn those new skills will never be proficient on it, and will keep coming here complaining about how little money they make.  And if your pay is too low to make any money now matter how much you learn, then that means it is time to switch companies, because either way it is nobodies fault but your own.  They are companies who pay decent livable wages.  You are pretty much responsible for what you allow people to pay you.  If you don't like it you go somewhere else.  If there is nobody offering the pay you want then you are most likely in the wrong career and should go back to school, and began in a field that has higher pay. That is the way it works in a capitalist-free market.
Do you think nationals have licenses in all 50 states? Not. nm

Take a look at the reply above... that states don't take this the wrong way but...
Com'on talk about a smack in the face. Proofing my reply? What is that?

Sounds like critisism.

No, I like the idea of uping my line count by 40%. Trying to use the Expander was good advice. I did not knock that at all. I think I said thanks for the advice on that. My reply was solely for the person who proofed what I wrote.

No critisism towards an expander : )
In most states, if you voluntarily quit
even if you know you are losing your job in X amount of days, you cannot collect unemployment. If the people at Heartland want to be able to collect unemployment, unfortunately, they need to stay.
they hire in all states; depending on what
state you are in, determines if you can be SE if that is what you are looking for.
I actually meant this generally, I do not think it's all that different in other states....
from what I've been reading and hearing from others. My husband and I have separate insurance each with our own employer and pay a fair rate of 100 a month or so and they are very good plans and not that HMO garbage. BUT we don't have kids. We have an excellent income and live on the east coast too but that would not make it *okay* for me if we had to pay those rates. So, right now I'm thinking of definitely nixing that whole having a family idea we've been discussing. I was hesitant anyway because I feel this world is just not a nice safe place anymore. So this may just seal the deal for me. What a country, huh? : (
