Keystrokes employees, could I ask some questions? sm

Posted By: NEMT on 2009-06-30

I got an offer from Keystrokes and had some questions for others employed there.

How is the family health insurance?  Expensive?

I will be working on the account that is 80% ESL, easy to meet line requirements?

When the recruiter talks about your 'liscense' please what does that mean?  I'm not entirely clear on that one.

I should be getting my paperwork in a couple days then getting started.  I'm looking forward to working with you all.

Questions for Keystrokes employees--

Keystrokes contacted me early last week about employment and sent me all the pertinent papers to sign and return.  I faxed everything back and was told they would be getting an ID for me for the account I'll be working on.  I haven't heard anything else.  Should I be concerned, or does it just take awhile for things to get moving? I realize there's been a holiday too which slows things down.

Questions for Proscript employees
Looking to change companies.  Are you satisfied with the company?   Do they have a steady flow of work?  Do they offer health benefits, and if so, is the premium exhorbitant for just an employee?  What is their line/hour requirement for full-time and/or part-time?  Are the accounts loaded with ESLs?  Sorry to have so many questions.  Thanks so much for your help.
Precyse employees; questions

Do they offer full-time and part-time? If so, what are line requirements.  Do you have to do your lines within an 8-hour time frame? Is their platform Word based? Audio transferred via internet or phone? Lines calculated 65 characters with spaces? Do they start as high as 10 cents a line? Do you run out of work often? Sorry to have so many questions, but wanted to avoid wasting my time and theirs based on above. Thank you.

Webmedx employees: Two questions (sm)

Do you run out of work a lot?  How is Radiology workload and pay?

TIA

Axolotl employees----have questions about line definition, etc. sm

How does Axolotl define a line?  Do they pay for spaces, headers, footers, & expansions?  Are you docked for blanks or sending things to QA?  If so, how much.

Thanks for the info.

Have a fabulous 4th!

OSI--Would either of you OSI employees mind if I emailed you privately with a couple of questions?

Keystrokes questions...

Hi,

Considering applying at Keystrokes: Do they provide the computer and foot pedal? How are they to work for in general? How flexibe are they with hours? Do you have to work a Tues. -Sat. or a Sun.-Thurs. schedule? Are you required to work any weekend hours?  How is their pay compared with other companies? Do they pay for spaces? What software do they use and is it user friendly?  Do they have benefits and if so do they have reasonable insurance? How often are they paid? Do they have a 401K or some type of retirement plan? What is their testing procedure?

I am looking to leave a well known national and am really afaird to make the jump, but saw their ad and good things on this board about them, so wanted to find out a little more before I applied. I just don't want to go from a frying pain into the fire, yuo know what I mean? Anyone out there who works for them at this time, please share your feelings and frustrations with me.

Thanks!

Keystrokes Questions
I have been there since May and it is wonderful. I have a fantastic lead and they pay good and on time. This is one ship you should not be afraid to jump to!
Keystrokes questions... please sm

For all you Keystrokes MTs... What is the insurance coverage like?  Is it expensive?  How much PTO for FT?

Also, on their new ad for oncology and ortho MTs it says some are web-based, only need wav pedal... does it matter if you have Vista for these accounts?  Some of their other accounts state no Vista. How does the web-based platform work?

Just wondering if anybody knows and would care to share before I contact them with these questions.  I hate to bother them when they busy starting new accounts, hiring new MTs, etc.  Any info is greatly appreicated.... TIA

Keystrokes questions
I have a few questions about Keystrokes if somebody could answer them. Does anybody know what days they hire for? I didn't know if they required a Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday schedule. Are all of their accounts C-phone or do they have internet accounts? Also, can anybody give me a starting pay range for someone with 7-1/2 years of experience doing acute care? If you would prefer to email me the info that is fine. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
I have a few questions about Keystrokes
that I haven't found the answers to doing a search. Do they hire part-time at all? Are you required to work 1 weekend day? How many accounts are you expected to work on? All information greatly appreciated! Holiday blessings to everyone!
Can't speak for all Keystrokes employees but

It was my first experience with at-home transcription and I felt underpaid, overworked, and underappreciated.  As soon as something better came along, I left.

I am working as an IC now and I am much happier. Of course, I am very fortunate that my husband has good benefits/insurance so I don't have to worry about that.

Keystrokes employees using Meditech
Are you guys meeting your line count in 8 hours or less and making a good salary?  How long did it take you, after starting, to meet your line count?  Thanks.
Question for Keystrokes employees
How many lines do you average per payroll, and how long have you been working on your particular account?
I would not say that Keystrokes treats their employees well...
and I doubt that they are over $50 M in revenue. When I was at Keystrokes, they had a few radiology accounts and clinics. This was two years ago. Stranger things have happened - maybe they are bigger than Transcend.

Can anyone answer some questions about Keystrokes?(sm)

I'm starting the job search process and am wondering about the company Keystrokes.  Can anyone answer some specific questions for me, please?

1)  What platform do they work on?  Word, Wordperfect, internet-based?  How difficult/time consuming is the platform to work on?  Is there a separate demographics screen that may or may not be paid for?

2)  Do they use C-phones, Lanier, internet .wav files, etc.?

3)  Do they pay for spaces?  65-character or gross lines?

4) Do they do acute care, clinic accounts, Radiology, etc.?

5) PT/FT, IC/statutory status?

6) How flexible are they with scheduling?

I apologize for all these questions but I'm trying to narrow down some companies.  TIA

Questions about Medware and Keystrokes....sm
How easy/hard are the platforms they each use and how about the flexibility? Thanks!
KEYSTROKES - I can answer questions below (sm)

First ULD - be sure NOT to use ATT.  It is really not unlimited and ATT automatically changed me back to 10 cents a minute!  (Good thing I found out before typing all day).  You can use Charter or Com-Cast.  They did not have the other options in my area, so I can't speak to me.

Secondly, the hospital that required the report at the end of each day.  You put your minutes, mr#, and job# and e-mail it in to the person they gave you.  There is time consuming and hassle after working all day, but you just get used to it.  I have found no real easy way to do this.  At the end, just give total minutes, total reports, total lines.

I have not been here for awhile and just saw the posts down below.  Hope this helps.

Keystrokes.. any feedback from current employees?
xx
To Keystrokes employees: Has anyone heard anything about when a new, less expensive insurance (sm)
is starting?  I was told by a valid source it was to be February 1 but it apparently didn't happen then.  Has anyone else heard a different date?  TIA.
Actually I posted looking for answers to my questions above, not looking to answer questions, but

to here goes...firstly, I don't know about the platform, only that it is Word based. Secondly, I have many years cardio, and thirdly, no the test was not hard. Still looking for any answers to my questions above. Thanks in advance.

Oh for sure employees, but not too often for statutory employees. Sorry for confusion.

Attn: Any Transcend employees or former employees
I have been offered a job with Transcend, but I am not completely sure about it yet and I need some input from you guys.  I have read positives and negatives regarding this company but alot of it was pretty old information.  Can anyone give me some recent feedback on them?    Thanks very much!!!
They have IC and employees, employees get benefits.
Good company. I am very happy there.
Does anyone like it at Precyse? New employees? old employees? nm
nm
Did Keystrokes sell to Transcend? I thought Keystrokes was buying up companies sm
but I heard from another service owner that they sold out to Transcend. Anyone know if that happened?
keystrokes ad..can someone tell keystrokes their banner ad needs a hyphen...quality-minded

Did Keystrokes sell to Transcend? I thought Keystrokes was buying sm

small companies but another service owner told me that she heard that Keystrokes sold to Transcend.  Is this true?

I posted this down below but meant to post it as a new thread.  Before I apply with them, I would like to know as I left Transcend a few months ago and do NOT want to get back into that mess.

Not only that, but I would MUCH rather work for Keystrokes than Spheris as Keystrokes doesn't

Only Keystrokes. Worked at MQ until I came to Keystrokes. Started at sm
Keystrokes PT, liked what I saw and experienced, gave notice to MQ and went FT. Have not look back since. I had previously worked at 2 hospitals, for MDI, Transcend and MRC until bought by MQ. I plan on retiring here as long as they stay as they are.
No, Not with Keystrokes, visiting friend and using her pc, she got job with Keystrokes
I forgot to change the Name. I do not think Keystrokes is hiring anymore now. Would like some info about Diskriter though.
Ditto, Keystrokes is a wonderful company with wonderful people! I love working for Keystrokes!
I am just not making enough money.  They are a great company though, just ask for a back up account.
Been with Keystrokes staying with Keystrokes

I was there for the promises and guess what Keystrokes is making good on those promises.

I get vacation time, 401K, and even AFLAC.  My pay is great, always on time as well as accurate.

I have my main account and have been given back up accounts for which I have been fully trained and am comfortable typing on.  I have great leads, great tech support and plenty of work.

Am I biased???  Yes I am biased.  I am grateful everyday that I was given the opportunity to work for Keystrokes and their team.  I am grateful that my company's owner is a fellow Transcriptionist that goes home at the end of the day and works like the rest of us so she knows what a hard job I have and I know that she is working to make things better for me because unlike other companies I have worked for she understands what it is I do.

Please accept my apologies that you were unhappy with Keystrokes and chose to move on before all of the promises came to fruition but don't begrudge those of us that stayed loyal and are now reaping the benefits of a GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT BENEFITS, LOTS OF WORK AND THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE ARE MANY MORE GREAT THINGS TO COME!

I just want to say Thank you Lee, Jeff, Becky, Karyn, Martha, Annette, Paul and everybody else in the office for all that you do.

Keystrokes does not go by keystrokes, we go by lines. sm
1200 lines per day comes out to 150 lines per hour. Most transcriptionists are able to do 200-250 lines per hour, so this is not unrealistic, nor is it unreasonable. The hospital that I used to work at prior to coming to Keystrokes had a minimum of 185 lines per hour. The service I worked for prior to Keystrokes had a minimum of 200 lines per hour.
which employees are getting this and how much.
I havent heard a work about any incentives.
MQ employees
Quoted: Remember employee = real benefits, not this 3 days a year PTO and insurance that is laughable. Also you must provide the equipment, the internet, and pay for downtime such as weather. A supervisor to authorize your stupid OT

PTO can be up to 18 days per year. As a FTE, I was given a week of vacation PTO and holidays. The insurance is not laughable. Compared to many companies out there, it falls right in the middle somewhere. Who pays you because it snows? (or rains, etc)? I know in our region, many MTs were affected by the hurricanes and received some compensation. And where have you worked that you do not have to have OT APPROVED??

I still think so many of you are so accustomed to be picky that the reality of "real job" is going to scare you off.
Certain new employees get PTO right away but other new

employees have to wait a YEAR?  Isn't that a little unfair and discriminatory???

And since when is $12-15 an hour considered GOOD in this profession?

Is this thread real?  April Fool's Day isn't for another 4-1/2 months!

How to keep employees

Every single MT company is full of BS these days.  They turn our homes into sweat shops, they cut our pay.  They have no consideration for our feelings.  MTs are job hopping just looking for a decent deal.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a company with high standards.  A company who gave so much in the way of decent treatment, time off, flexibility, civilized treatment, appreciation and good pay, and I mean very good pay.  Can you imagine what it would be like to have every MT in this godforsaken lousy business clamoring for a job with your company?  All you have to do is be FAIR, pay decent WAGES, treat people like HUMANS instead of machines.  You would never be posting a help wanted ad.

Man, I wish I could do it myself.  I would have the best, brightest MTs out there becasue I would attract and draw them to my wonderful company instead of nickle and diming them to DEATH.

Why don't you want to know what former employees have to say about OSI?
I think they would serve you better on what you want to know.  I worked for them for four years.  The first couple of years were okay, not many problems to speak of, then it all went down hill from there.  The higher-ups started to get nasty to the transcriptionists, they starting changing accounts around, loosing accounts....it really got bad.  I think they have a revolving door on their main office, so many people come and go.  I would do my research before I jumped the gun with OSI.
no those employees are all over here

throwing muck and personal attacks all over the place, especially at the company (ies) they left.  I also know the company monitors the board which resulted in the formulation of the language of not allowing the company named to be posted.

As for not wanting a good thing to leak out, I've always been a cheerleader and am of the opinion that if I can help my employer grow by being a good employee and bringing other good employess to them, then that adds to my job security and a recognition by the company of my being loyal to them.

Maybe that's the part that has so baffled.

It is so new that most of us employees do not know anything about it yet. nm
nm
MDI-MD....I think all their employees are SE (sm)

I got hired for Radiology not acute care...

I only mentioned that again because there were some posters last week who were running out of work at MDI-MD and were afraid they overhired but I think those were acute care MTs...

An OM did this to both employees and ICs

at a company where I worked for 4-1/2 years from home, then about 10 months in the office.  I ended up leaving  the company because of what I saw happening within the office.  The owner was a great person, but left much of the day-to-day operations to the office manager.  If someone called in and needed extra cash because they wanted to put a child in a private school, she would take work from someone else and give it to the needy person...now keep in mind that the person needing the extra cash didn't actually HAVE to work because of the husband's income and the person whose work was taken away was single and had no other source of income.

This is just one example, but it happened like this A-L-L the time I was in the office.  I lost total respect for the OM and then for the owner for knowing it was happening and allowed it to continue.

They can't keep employees...
They are rude to their employees and they go in and change your time-sheet hours if you are getting paid by the hour and cut your actual work hours in half. That was my experience with them.
They must REALLY need employees
Between yesterday and today I've had 3 phone calls and several emails, after I said no.  I told the guy I'm not interested in a company that has QA in India, especially since they would be deciding whether my work was correct or not.
5 employees?
I do two of mine accounts, and I certainly do not require employees?  No wonder you weren't making any money.  You have to actually do the work yourself not hire people to do it.  My goodness.
employees, I mean
nm
US employees
They said they employ approximately 30 MTs in the US.
Can anyone tell me how many employees
before I make a decision. Thank you.
Any MDI-IT employees out there? sm
How long have you worked at MD-IT?  Do you run out of work?
They don't have employees there??
