Meditech is horrible.
I plugged away on Meditech for 15 years on-site hourly rate thank goodness.  That Meditech system is absolutely NOT TRANSCRIPTION FRIENDLY!!  I don't care what others say, it is horrible and I speak from years of experience.  There is no medical spell check.  You have to go through tons and tons of screens and learn F keys.  It is bad, really bad!
I am not the OP either but another KS Rad MT. I also have a Meditech account and sm
average in the 17-18 report per hour range. I was also on a different Meditech account when I started with them a few years back and also did about the same.

Keystrokes has a LOT of Meditech accounts. How do you know which one that poster works on?

Hint: If you have a problem, talk to KB or BB in the office, not your lead. They will take care of you!
Yes, they got an MQ account, a horrible one. nm

Every account is not Meditech -
I currently work for STS and every account is not Meditech. It depends on the hospital.

I think they are a very good company to work for. I have been there on and off now for 9 years.
Someone still has to do that horrible account
though.
I worked an account on MediTech
for over 3 years and the account had its own built-in templates, which were very useful, plus I used PC ShortHand for my expander. That was the best job and pay I have ever made. I was making right at $30 per hour. Those were the good old days...now I work in ExText and the account if work on is very difficult...the highest production I have gotten thus far is about 1300 lines per day!!! Go figure!!!!
Is their Meditech account out of work too?

I was thinking about applying because I know the platform and could use a big sign-on bonus.

I know that feeling. The account I do now is Meditech
and that is absolutely the MOST user unfriendly platform. It takes me at least 8 hours to do what I could in less than 6 on DQS. I am currently looking for something else, though. I absolutely HATE Meditech. I dread getting up and starting work every morning.
My account is on Meditech, which at first I HATED, but now I do not mind so much. sm

You can look up old reports by the same doctor, information about the patient such as lab tests, medications, etc.  It just took some getting used to for me.

Like the other poster said, from the email that was sent out the other day, it sounds like they are phasing out part-time people, although I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if you want to work a shift where they happen to need coverage.

Good luck!

I work on a Meditech account (not with Keystrokes)
and they have also prohibited cutting and pasting.  Just because it looks okay on your screen doesn't mean it comes out okay on their end, I guess.
I had the same experience. Horrible account, nonexistent communication. What's wrong with these
nm
These are cardiac procedure notes that will only be 1-liners or 2 on a horrible new account.
That does not even begin to compensate the MT for the demo fill-ins and the time that it takes to type those short reports.  But hope some TT MT makes money on these reports this weekend.
I just started with Keystrokes full time and am on a Meditech account. sm

I would not call it my favorite platform by any means -- I think it is rather slow and cumbersome -- but with the addition of ShortHand and getting used to how things are done, I am picking up speed and hope to be at my normal level soon.   One of the pluses to Meditech is that you can access the patient's chart and see other reports dictated, plus lab reports, x-rays, etc.

how horrible but Acusis/DRC outsources to India, just what Spheris will do with that easy account. n
,
New radiology account - sm
Good luck recruiting new STAFF with that attitude! So glad you clarified that so nicely.
Was this a Radiology account?

I will be working on Radiology and thought being paid per minute would be better than cpl pay.  Am I wrong??

Horrible, horrible, horrible place. Unlike the other poster
I actually worked there.   Sound quality is horrendous.  The account I had was the worst ESL I've ever had and I do 85% ESL so I have no problems doing ESL.   Frequent management turnover.   When I was doing QA the work was so bad that I pretty much had to redo every report.  I hear about how well they pay, but they don't pay that well and certainly not enough to compensate for all the other stuff.
I am on a radiology account that is by the line because they have sm
a lot of newer radiologists who talk and talk and talk and talk. For the other account that I work for fill in, by the report is better but definitely by the line. They pay both ways. I make 0.10 per line for the account I am on. Hope this helps!
I'm afraid to ask, but how is the radiology account at
Softscript?  I already know their acute care sucks.  TIA
They just got a very big voice recognition account in radiology. sm
they are also in the running for a 20-hospital account. They must be doing something right. This is not gossip but fact. If they are bad, the accounts are going to be in big trouble. I would laugh if they fail because the hospital I work for GSH is going to them and letting the two other services go and not taking any of us.
Radiology by the line for one account and by the report sm
for another. I make more by the report though.
Has any worked for QT Medical for radiology? They got an account that I was working sm

on for another company and I want to apply, but cannot find anything about them.  I am currently with Peachtree and am tired of being an IC and I need steady work.  Can you give me any good, bad or other information?  TIA

They are not promoting it; one account has it, that's all except a few radiology Powerscribe acco
I know they do not like it!
There are few account for editing Powerscribe. Not for medical records or for most radiology sm
accounts. There are few accounts that ditched VR, which is nice. I think that is going to help set Keystrokes apart; being open to the idea of it but not pushing it.
Hmm..If this is the radiology account, I thought they were paying on a per-report basis..sm

I worked for them for a little over a week and we were being paid per report.  Must be a different account they were recenting hiring for or either they changed the pay structure.

At any rate, my experience was less than grand as well.

I work on the radiology account they are hiring for at Southern Transcription Services
and always have work. I have only run out a work a handful of times. It is a very busy account. It is a very good company to work for.
Worked there 2 years ago..horrible, horrible, horrible.
Would totally avoid them at all costs.
SoftScript is the worst - horrible accounts, horrible management, don't go there! nm
nm
horrible, horrible contact person! Worst experience ever. SM
Turned it down because of the arrogance and attitude.

That was not long ago. Ads run every 2 - 3 months.
There are two types of Meditech. One is Meditech Magic, which has a blue sm
screen and is like WP5.1. It is a bit cumbersome but not bad once you get used to it.

The other is Meditech Client, which is WONDERFUL. It opens into Word and populates the demographics for you.

Neither are bad once you get used to them. I make great money using Magic and a lot of others complain about it.
Horrible accounts, horrible sound quality, etc
The only time SoftScript would not be wonderful is if you aren't doing your job. They are an extremely professional company. Sounds like someone may not have lived up to their standards.
Horrible, horrible place. Lots in the archives.

Horrible company, horrible dictators, ESL
at its absolute worst, sound quality horrible.  The MTs I did QA for were horrendous.  They made up words, obviously didn't use a spellchecker, couldn't get the hang of something as simple as copying and pasting Preop diagnoses to postop diagnoses and would type same again and again.  QA manager would send out updates for new drugs, equipment and have things misspelled, frequently got e-mails that evidently were sent because someone wanted to feel important, absolutely no useful information, management problems, lots and lots of turnover, including management.    The CEO has no clue about transcription and is in it for the money.  After talking with him you feel like you need a shower.
Horrible platform. Horrible communication.
Horrible people who say one thing and then when you do what they say, they get mad and act ugly.

Enough of a bone?
Keystrokes has the best radiology accounts IMO. I have plenty of work and radiology only. nm
I make a good living and rarely run out of work. When I do, it is for a few minutes at a time and usually because the rads have not started early enough. No other complaints!
Keystrokes for radiology. They are the biggest for radiology out of all of the companies out there.
I have been there 2 years and have been very happy. I make a lot more money than when I worked for Edix/Spheris.
Keystrokes has a radiology division. They used to be radiology only but their sm
customers started referring other departments to them.

I know that they just got a bunch of new accounts!
For radiology, Keystrokes is the way to go. They seem to have the most radiology accounts. sm
I have been very, very busy since starting with them 19 months ago. No complaints at all other than one or two of the radiologists who speak at the speed of light and expect us to be able to transcribe what sounds to be a mouse on a treadmill!
If radiology is going to VR, why are there so many job openings for radiology MTs? nm
nm
Ascend Radiology & MDI Radiology?
Is anyone currently working on or know anything about Ascend radiology or MDI radiology accounts?  What platforms do they use?  Do they have a lot of ESLs or crappy dictators?  Thanks in advance
That account in Texas was not a MQ account. They did not use DQS on that account until KS started.
They are moving 3 other accounts to DQS between now and January 1st. I asked. The MQ accounts they have gotten in the past did not go to DQS. I followed my old account, which is how I know, and it was Meditech. The account is still run by KS and is a big account too.
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
Then when we MT's are **thrown on** an account because of lack of work on our account

What is so hard to understand about that?

Then we have that account info filed away in a folder in our Outlook Express by name of account and can look at past emails sent out regarding that account.  Not fun to be tossed on an account that you have never seen NOR ever received an email on.  Sounds like business to me.

You are wrong about the account. KS dumped the account for several reasons. sm
It happened quickly and was unexpected but it was really for the best. Keystrokes does not string people along or lie to you. After being with MQ for too long, I am happy there, although it is not for everyone.

I really would give them a call as the other poster suggested. That whole situation was a nightmare for everyone including management but the account pulled a fast one on them.

I have the facts on this because I have a good friend at the hospital and what she told me matched what my manager did.

I know that they are trying to give more when so many companies are giving less and taking away more.
Meditech
Will anyone having typed on Meditech system please tell me what it's like?  Is it user friendly?  Thank you very much.
Meditech
Meditech is okay once you are used to it AND if you can use Instant Text rather than those clumsy combinatio keys to do your macros. I think it has improved since I used it about 6 years ago. It is a BIG change from WP or MSWord, sort of like taking a giant step backwards.
meditech
I thank you for all of your comments. I do use Instant Text so would definitely want to be able to use that with Meditech system.  But it actually doesn't sound like something I'd really like doing, from what I've read.  More negatives than positives so far.
Meditech Rad
I use Meditech for radiology for windows, have been for 10 years.  Over the years we have upgraded the program several times.  I think it just depends on if the hospital is up to date on the programming.  I took a second account that used Meditech and I don't know if the hospital was behind or the MTSO just did not understand the program like I do.  For rad, after each report you do have to go through a series of screens before the report is saved.  But that is just me.  Another hospital could be different.
I can't believe how horrible this all is.
I never thought it was decent of MQ to prevent you from seeing your line count after each and every chart like all other programs and companies I've worked for. I guess this explains it! - it really makes me sick at heart to think they are that criminal, that they are deliberately cheating us. All those cheery notes from our supervisors - thanks a lot guys for helping the company pick our pockets and lower the standards for the entire industry. Before you know it every national will be doing the same thing and we will never be paid fairly by any of them! Whatever happened to fair labor practices anyway? Are all big businesses staffed with nothing but unpricipled dirty greedy backstabbing cheats?

Sorry for going off but man, thinking of all I've sacrificed over the years and the extra above-the-norm effort I've put in to keep my line counts high and accounts within TAT - and for what? To find this out is like a real sock in the kisser.

QA is horrible
They WILL nitpick you to death. I have over 20 years experience and got an 88 on my QA and it was COMMAS....some places they took them out, some they put in. There is ONE person who has final QA say and even the team leader I had would warn about how ridiculous it is. The QA varies from account to account as well. They say they go by AAMT but they don't. The old DOS platform sucks big time. You get 40 pounds of books to look through with hundreds of pages of doctors to go through. If you take the time to find something in the manual, you lose lines and you lose money. If you don't take the time to look and put a blank, they take of a percentage for that. There isn't even a way to look for a doctor when you are in the text typing!! The spellcheck leaves a lot to be desired.

Expect to be given 3 accounts at once and have to switch back and forth frequently between them and of course memorize all the QA differences between them. You will find that the QA booklet they give has gross errors in it, and even if you document the errors, such as a medication spelling, they say they "do it their way." Expect loads of ESLs and of course you get dinged for blanks for those as well, no matter how difficult the dictator is. I have never ever seen a company work so hard at taking money from you like they do. They swear they pay hourly...well good luck. Out of 8 people I knew from training, 7 quit.
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible
accounts, support, managment etc.
