MT not what it used to be

I went through the same thing 2 years ago. My position had been outsourced to an Indian company.

My company gave us the same story. They did not want to tell us anything. In fact, we were told not to ask about job security and whether our company would even be willing to retrain us for a different position.

What they wanted me to do was train the MTs that were going to take over my job. I had been there for over 20 years; so, I guess loyalty does not count anymore. And, by the way I refused to train. I figured why should I help them when they could not even tell us that our jobs were going to be outsourced to begin with.

And, by the way the company that I used to work for, which was the largest HMO in Nevada has now been bought out. So, I am thinking that the higher ups that let my department go may be getting a taste of their own medicine.

At this point what I would do is go on the boards and do a little research and find out more info about different companies. Then, once you have found a decent company you might want to see if you can qualify for financial aid so you can go back to school and learn a different trade where you would be able to make a decent income. It is just an option to think about. I believe in the long run it is best to get out of this business. That is what I will be doing as soon as I am able to.

Anyways, I hope everything works out for you.
