As a whole.. nice people to work for, decent benefits but the get off/on the system, work/no work,
is maddening. I couldnt pay my bills or even work the schedule I was assigned. They would ask us not to work until work built up in the evenings and I specifically wanted to work days as I have kids etc. It just didnt work out for me but to each his own. It just seems there has to be a better balance in this business that what is happening.
Can anyone provide a name of a good smaller company to work for that offers decent benefits..
I want to get away from the "nationals". I know there are smaller transcription companies out there looking for a good MT.. Hopefully someone will have some good advice for me.
WOULD LIKE TO FIND A COMPANY THAT HAS DECENT FAMILY INS. BENEFITS AND PTO
I have been working in-house at a hospital and would like to go home to work, but I am having a hard time finding a company out there that offers decent insurance benefits and PTO.. Any ideas are appreciated..
Companies are hardly offer FT employees any decent benefits so I think is going to be rare to find
them for PT employees. I would love that too, unfortunately, I work too much just to get below average benefits. Best of luck in your search. Honestly, I think the only place you'll find benefits for part-timers is going in-house at a hospital.
The OP is saying she has no decent work, which
obviously seems lack of work. Your post sounds more like a confessional to clear your own guilt - apples and oranges! You have oodles of work, and the OP doesn't! Get it?
Decent for PT work
I worked for them for several months.  It was OK.  The work was pretty difficult and I have a lot of experience with ESLs.  I always got paid, but not always on time.  QA is a b***h, but that was just my experience.  I'd personally keep looking.
Do you know if they are decent to work for or anything about them?
Thanks
Best company to work for as an IC. Decent cpl etc...nm
nm
When I find decent people who know the value of decent wages, I will!
tyvm
Thanks. Can you make any decent pay with them and are the accounts decent. What is your feeling
that. Thank you.
What companies have a decent platform to work on, .

have employee status, lots of work, and minimal confusion and disorganization?   Can do the big 4 for acute care.

I work for All Type. They are a decent company.
Check them out. I am an IC but if you live in certain states you can be an employee or SE. Not sure if they need anyone right now though.
Good, decent company. Pay on time. Low on work. nm
x
They DON'T pay a decent wage or provide ample work.
They're sending it all to India. That's the point.
I do Rad for TT. Pay is good, tons of work, decent accounts. I know they are hiring a few more
Rad MTs now. I would highly recommend.
Decent place to work - the owner is fair and reasonable.
I have known GG, the owner, for a long time. I worked for her as an IC and never had a problem, except for the no work syndrome, but that was about 5 years ago. Hope they are busier now.

If I had to go back and work for a company, JLG would be the place.

I am a remote employee directly for a hospital now, so no need to work for a company.

I can vouch for JLG anytime. Pay is always on time, their staff is friendly and professional, never had a problem with QA.

sad part is, those decent docs likely have no idea their work is being sent overseas. nm

Decent company, good people, pay on time, work low sometimes. nm

I wouldn't quit a decent company for seasonal low work volume.
I'd hang around and see what the New Year brings. I wouldn't say that if you were working for MQ, but I would for a company with a decent reputation. If it is still slow in January, I'd talk to my supervisor and find out what her take is on the situation.
you have to have work to pay for the benefits
I started with them and had NO work for an entire week. I gave up and quit and then they didn't pay the training bonus pay and I had to go to the attorney general!
No benefits and lately no work...NM
NM
Does MDI-Fl have steady work? Are there benefits
nm
Great benefits don't help if the work isn't there.
It's been a while and maybe they've gotten better. The recruiter at the time was less than above-board with me. Try to find current employees to talk to.
Sounds like you want to work PT, but get the benefits of FT!

There are minimum requirements so that the employee must work in order to get health insurance, PTO, etc.  Why on earth would an employer offer someone a FT employee status, but then not put any kind of line requirement on them?  That's just absurd.

As a manager of a transcription department at a hospital that pays their MTs hourly plus incentive, if I didn't have minimum production standards in place, I'd have a bunch of hourly employees taking a million breaks and surfing the internet all shift long!  And still walking out with a nice paycheck and benefits to boot!  And my minutes would be through the roof with doctors screaming at me every minute of every day!

I feel sorry for the company that gives you a job.  You're looking to get off easy!

No, that's not true. They work with you. Yes, you have to be FT to get benefits. sm
but that is anywhere. They define FT by 12000 lines per period. They average it out. They take into consideration accounts, volume, slow periods, etc. If you are working FT and not getting the lines you need, they work with you to get there.

Someone is just trying to stir things up here, and I am not sure why, but it is very disheartening to see half-truths and lies about so many companies. I love working for Keystrokes. I average 2500-2700 lines per day but I have been doing this a long time and use my Expander for everything. I have an account that is considered a nightmare to some people, but I think that they come into it with a bad attitude. IMO, any account can be great once you get used to it, with Keystrokes or with any company, as long as the line count is accurate.
For IC work? 8 cpl is OK if you are an employee and getting benefits, but for an IC it's awful!
s
I work for them...benefits this year suck
God help us if we get sick. They deductible is sky high and no meds coverage. I can't believe they boinked us that way. I'm checking into other companies.
I work part-time for them, so I cannot help you regarding benefits. sm

The pay scale seems a bit on the low side (I started at 0.0825), but you are an employee, so they take out taxes and such, which is a plus for me, and you can raise your rate of pay according to how many lines per hour you type.  I do not have the tier right in front of me, but it is something like 150-170, add .015 per line; 171-215, .035; 216-230, .05; and so on.   I type 300 LPH on my full-time job but cannot seem to average more than 250 at Webmedx, so not sure if it is the way they count lines, or maybe I am just not used to my account yet.  The sound quality on some of the hospitals on my account is absolutely AWFUL, and no one seems to be addressing that, so that is a down side.

They have their own platform and supply the computers.  Someone said you have the option of using your own computer, but when I asked, they said I had to use theirs, so I don't really know.  I would much prefer mine, but I did get a switch so I only have to use one monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

They charge a $125 deposit for the computer, taken out in installments of $25 per pay period, refundable when you quit and return the computer.

The pay is direct deposit and always on time.

I know they have benefits such as medical, dental, and vision, and a 401k, but I do not know the details.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

It is IC work, no benefits, make your own schedule. sm

The pay is a bit on the low side for IC work, but the work is easy, the people are great, and the pay is always on time, once a week, direct deposit.  Hope this helps.

It's IC work-- no benefits, although they do pay self-employment tax portion.
Technically, we're hired as SE status (statutory employee status), which means that MDI pays our self-employment taxes to keep us from getting that double tax whammy.
Anyone work for Axolotl? Curious as to cpl & benefits
I've been an MT for 15 years with local clinics & am looking nationally now.  Any info would be great....cpl range, insurance costs, PTO, etc.  Thanks!
They had great benefits and little work. I lasted three
nm
Great benefits, plenty of work, pay on time
Depending on experience, slightly above-average pay. I used to be with a company where I would have given my right arm for those few simple things. As for the posts below regarding line count, IF this (or any other concern) was affecting my work, there's a new invention called a telephone that comes in handy when wanting to address concerns (and their phone number is on their website).
Agree. Had to leave. Loved it there but no work and no benefits.
nm
I get no benefits where I work and I do 1500-1700 rad reports a pay period. sm
This is the norm, not the exception. If a rad Transcriptionist cannot do 20-25 reports an hour, they need to look at a different field.
Any current information on Medware such as work load, pay, benefits, etc.
Thanks for anything you have.. the good, bad, and ugly.
Good luck to you. Hope they are lenient with the benefits with all the low work. nm
.
Where I work I was told I had to get them in or be put back to PT status and lose benefits. nm

Transhealth editors? Anyone with information on pay, work schedule, benefits, platform
I would appreciate any information before taking their test without knowing the scoop.  Thanks!
Well it sounds like no work happens a lot at DSG. How are the accounts as far as decent accounts
and their QA.
WEBMEDX???? It's a small national, right? Benefits, running out of work, what kind of accounts,

flexible schedule (as in working EVERY weekend mandatory?

Any opinions on the company would be appreciated.  Found some in the archives but all mostly from 2004 and 1 recent post but not much info.  Thanks.

Need current info on ETransPlus i.e. work load, line rate (ballpark), cost of benefits, SM
and overall treatment of their MTs.  I found archived opinions but all old.  Is anyone there now that can comment?  Thanks!!
What would you consider a decent (sm)
line pay? 8, 9, 12 (well, we can dream, right?)
What is a decent
hourly starting wage for QA anyhow, or are we allowed to talk about that here.  I have been doing transcription for 11 years, and like you all mentioned, Im starting to just ache.  I can do about two hours at a time, and then I have to take a break.  I had done some editing here and there, and was thinking this time about going to QA full time, but I get confused with all the pay rates.  Some are offering 3 to 4 cents a line, some are offering hourly rate, and I have no idea what a decent pay rate is for this position.
Decent cpl pay.

Does it seem like escription accounts want to pay less because you can produce more with the editing?

Never take less than 4cpl for editing.  That's the highest I've seen.  I personally won't take less than 9/10 cpl for the straight typing with those accounts either.

Don't know about decent, but here are some

Accurate Typing of Suffolk, NY - use Word and Hyperterminal.  Dependable Transcription of Florida - use Word, FTP, DSS files.  Documed of NJ - Word and email of files.  EFD of Alabama, but you need a Lanier or Cphone. Use Word and PCAnywhere.  First Choice - use Word and FTP.  Heim's in Pennsylvania - use Word Perfect 9 or higher and FTP.  LML Transcription in Illinois - use Word with DocShuttle and FTP.  Medscribe in Pennsylvania - only 7 cpl, use Word with DocShuttle.  Metro in Georgia - use Word and FTP.  MRT Services in Georgia - use Word and FTP.  MTs in Mass. - 7 cpl, pay weekly, use Word and FTP.  PRN Transcription in New Mexico - use Word Perfect and email, 7 cpl.  Transcription Connection in Ohio - 8 cpl, use Word and maybe ExText. (posters don't have much good to say about them, though).  There may be others and some of this info may even have changed in the interim, but it's a place for you to start from. Good Luck! ... Wanderer

A decent MT should be getting off QA sm
by the third full day of work, an excellent one sooner.  Congrats to you.  And yes everyone, I am saying that under most circumstances (unless the company has a strict QA time period of a week, 2 weeks) you should be off!
Decent job
Just changed jobs, went through a Med Tran headhunter type of service.  This has turned out to be a total disaster.  So, looking for new employment and am very interested in getting hooked up with a company that uses EditScrpt platform by eScription.  I have two years experience in that platform and love it.  Any suggestions?  Not willing to try this headhunter service again as they were less than truthful with me.  Actually just looking for a job with a decent company that pays more than slave wages.
Is there a decent IC job anywhere
Cannot find 1 IC job that pays decently with 24 hour turn around, and only 1 day on the weekend required. Scoured the ads left and right.  Any ideas? Not MDI-MD please (BTDT), anywhere else would be appreciated.  TIA
very decent company
Everybody is great and helpful. Wish you the best..
First of all, have a decent attitude
Lets face it, working for a living sucks.  Unless you're doing whatever your passion is and getting big bucks to boot.  MT is not my passion, but I still put all I can into it, in order to get a paycheck and stay on the good side of my supervisors.  Simply a good attitude, work when i'm scheduled to do so, focus so the quality is above 98%.  I agree, its getting bad in this industry, you can complain all you want, but some of us are working hard to hold onto our positions...at least until we have something better to fall back on.  I don't have hubby to pick up my slack so I do what i'm told and collect my paycheck.
