Check on that downtime issue
They are a wonderful company; however, they may not have updated the manual, because they have dc'd paying for no work downtime only recently, I would say within the last few months. They do pay for technical downtime but not for no work any longer. Check with your lead or personnel.
Check your e-mails from yesterday, Fatcat...(sm)
It was announced in an email from Carlotta. It's no longer rumor, it's being implemented.
Sorry, can't relate! I had 2770 lines for yesterday and I have
nm
I'm about 300 lines short daily. I've had some
dictators that were absolutely horrendous and the my reports come back from QA with blanks too, but then I have some really good dictators.   The changes are driving me crazy.   I wish they could explain things one time in a way that the MTs could understand.  I'm sure there are more changes to come, though they have had at least part of the account for a long time so I don't understand all the changes now.
goodness 1000 lines short!!!
It kinda sounds like problems on both sides to me.
Not a good thing. Hope you get paid and the correct amount. Labor Board
The company DOES have a way to figure out how many lines you did FOR SURE. Really think they don't and would depend on the MT for the count. They have all sorts of ways to manipulate the count too.
Great News!! I was able to cash the check yesterday. I called the branch directly and they said-sm

right now it was good.  I do live in another state but her bank was bought by a bank that is local to me.  I went there as soon as I could get there and they cashed the check for me!!!  She owes me another small check ($84 and change) which I still have not received.  I was beginning to think that I was never going to see this $$ (the last time I was able to cash a check from her was back in January).  I guess if I bug her enough I will get my other funds.  I think she just wants me to go away which I will as soon as I get all the funds owed me.  She also owes me a 1099 but I am not going to stress over that.  I still have my records.  Thanks all for your ideas.

Prior complaints of low work loads and only short reports, so struggle to get lines. How about
s
I am on EXTEXT and I get to check my own lines...
I am happy with that. I do about 200 lines an hour, sometimes less, sometimes more.
FYI - If you go there, better double check your lines!!!!!! nm
@
I also received a check from them for lines not counted, but this was
7 or 8 years ago and mine just was not set right. It was not any big deal, my supervisor (who was a good friend) told me that it was not on purpose, just I was running an old program.
I thought someone posted on here about 75 char line, and can't check lines...nm

Downtime? What's that?

Downtime
They pay $12/hr downtime, includes system/platform problems (on their end) and periods of no work. It does not cover things on the MT end, including electric failure and internet failure.
Downtime
Can anyone name a few companies that pay downtime?
downtime
Because I hired on as a FT employee and constantly running out of work which is out of my control - I have to sit here and wait while I pay daycare and not make any money - I need 40 hours a week to live - I wasn't looking for parttime work.  I think all companies should pay downtime when it their fault we have no work
Some do pay downtime, not all like MQ.
.
Downtime
Thanks, and I will check on that this morning. I will come back and post what I'm told. When I was hired and also during training, they went over the procedures for downtime pay, both no-work and technical. I'll definitely put it on here, though, for confirmation. Thanks, Dolfan!
Don't lie about it. They don't pay for downtime.
xx
Downtime (sm)
If you're out of work, you are paid downtime, but you have to keep checking back every 10-15 minutes.

Answering of questions isn't as bad as other poster said. First couple weeks it is great, though, when you really need it.

They were up front with me about no shift differential before I took the position and pay, etc.

Yes, there is a lot of preemployment stuff, but it is the hospital requirement and not DR.

If you live in the tricounty area (Dade, Broward, Palm Beach) the health insurance is very good, so the preemployment is kind of worth it if you need insurance.

Regarding samples. I'm not even sure if the other poster was on this account because with the software, you have access to all reports dictated and transcribed by all physicians or any reports typed on the patient you are transcribing. So no samples are really necessary.

Definitely shift intensive. But every job has it's drawbacks. It's all about a good fit. Maybe DR isn't for you, but I just wanted to correct a few incorrect statements by the other poster.
downtime
Does KS have a lot of downtime? Do they pay you for it?
they don't pay for anything, no downtime..sm
no holidays, NO overtime...8 cpl that is it, nada, nothing more. Owners are making a killing tho....
thanks, I'm gonna try that! sm
Hope it doesn't ruin my day!!!
what cha gonna do if we don't???
nm
What cha gonna do?
Are you serious?

How old are you. I mean I am only 21 but you sound like youre 13 or something.
That's not gonna go over too well, I think.
She won't see it as helpful.  She's upset.  It can be quite catty on here but some are just too sensitive.
I don't think I am gonna take it....
I think that is too low. I was not aware what VR payed. I have never done it and have no friends who do so I thought that was too low but needed to hear from someone who knows.
gotten, ain't, gonna--so what?
All that, and you couldn't even give OP the answer he/she was looking for. SHEESH!
OF COURSE, there are gonna be ones who act
has not been good.  I should say my working experience has not been good as that is the only experience I have had.  But it is what it is and that is all I can base my opinion on.  However, I share my opinion with MANY MTSO and those in management, the ones that deal with these buisness people on a daily basis.
And they don't pay 1 penny of downtime
when the system is down for hours at a time.
I hear they pay for downtime; don't know much else
Never worked there, and of course I would defer to people who have!
So when you say paid for downtime...

do you mean that they actually pay you if no work available, not just for equipment failure on their part?

If compensated for times of no work on your schedule (at what rate?  minumum wage or other?), some of the folks on the MQ Board need to hear this, I think.

What companies pay for downtime? sm
As in, you are an employee (not IC) and you run out of work.
Transolutions Downtime
This is true. They pay both technical and no-work downtime. I was hired a month ago (WONDERFUL company) and have it right here in front of me in the employee handbook. So long as you are a full-time employee, report your downtime to the appropriate person, and haven't refuse work on another account that does have work, you will be paid for downtime. If they have no work on another account for you, you are paid downtime. Have a great day!
Any companies that currently pay downtime?
/
Downtime? hahaha

There has been no mention of that and I'm sure it wont happen.

When the system is fixed, the most we'll get is double the amount of emails telling us how much work there is and how we all need to give us food/sleep/bathroom time to get it caught up.

Yes, I get paid DOWNTIME when

there is no work around and I also get PTO, paid VISION, very good health insurance with company paying 80%, dental for less than 15 per pay period and a great atmosphere.  Yes, I do have to produce 12000 per pay period.

How does TransTech pay out PTO, and do they pay downtime?nm
xx
Paid for downtime...
Paid for downtime with Transcend? We don't. We get told to flex out time out.
Companies that pay downtime
I've seen on the boards that the famous Axolotl pays for downtime when there is no work available.  Are there any other companies that do this?  Thx.
DOWNTIME NOT ALLOWED

I did not get downtime even with a ticket# and having to wait 2 days for another computer. All I got was a BS stating reasons not to give me downtime and that I could take PTO or not get paid for those 2 days.

Thank God I have next week off. I don't think I can stand much more of this BS.

Sorry but if they are gonna slam on someone, they should at least
make sure it sounds right.  It was funny though.  It had me on  the floor and not completely in an insulting way..JUST FUNNY.
It's gonna get worse SM

When someone posted below who cares about construction workers that pretty well summed up the problem in general.  Everything is about 'me.'  Our America is on its way to becoming a Third World Country.  Watch the news sometime.

Yup, and it's gonna come back and
nm
wow, and i was gonna apply with them
/
Not even gonna argue, as I can tell 100% from
your dialect that you are Indian.  So, you don't understand our US point of view.  I do not want to work for an Indian owner, a Japanese owner, or an owner from Mars who has, in their own written and published mission statement, to eliminate the US MTs, as they are inferior to Indian MTs. Not my words, CBay's words, and I don't care if they came from Santa Claus, or Mr. Hoffmann, or Tony Soprano. I ain't gonna work for someone who wants to eliminate me and my coworkers. Buh Bye.
who ya gonna call?
Isn't it against the law for payroll checks to have a delay of over 10 days? Does anyone know who you contact for help? It's mind-boggling that you are expected to provide high-quality, reliable work and get it done...STAT...and then wait and wait for compensation.
I'm probably gonna get reamed for asking but
How precisely does one lose money doing ASR? Is the work not consistent enough to get used to the dictators?

Please, do tell. I'm about to start VR work at Transcend (on BeyondText) and I'm just wondering what I'm in for.
You're probably gonna get more than me...:(
I've been at Oracle long enough now to know that the recruiter is a lying sack of excrement! I left my previous job because of low/no work and accepted a job at Oracle (OTI). The recruiter said over and over how busy this account was and how they're needing somebody bad, etc etc. I've been out of work for 3 days now. In fact, this is not at all unusual because ever since I started I run out of work 4 days out of 5 and that's with 3 accounts. I feel like such a failure for even trying to do this job anymore. I just don't know what it is with these companies?
sure gonna give
it one heck of a shot! I think they want us to think the physicians don't have any say so either but heck if the physician's refuse to dictate there then they will see that they do have a say!
Yep, I think MDIers are gonna get it
This whole thing is right out of the MQ playbook. Get ready to get hit!
MT'S are not gonna like this post
Even though I am on your side, fighting the same things as you, I have a slightly different view.

I don't paint all MTSOs with the same brush, first of all. They are not all fire-breathing mega corporation monsters reaping in huge profits at the expense of their work force. Many are just barely making a profit themselves.

Besides, unlimited profit is what capitalism is all about. Don't expect the mega corporations to limit themselves too much - they are mandated to make as much profit as they can for shareholders. And they shoulder all kinds of legal burdens with the clients they contract with that MTs don't have to be concerned about. They DO have real expenses.

Another point is this: Sometimes we just have to wait up and smell the coffee. The industry IS changing - lots of speculation about *where* it will end up, but this much is clear: They have been training a new work force to do this work (not just offshoring) for a very long time.

It's the old supply and demand construct: When MTs were scarce, our position and talent was more appreciated in actions and in pay. Now the industry has an abundance of good to great workers so employers have more choice and that competition is part of what's driving down wages and opportunities.

So I have read the writing on the wall - diversify *now* while there is still work at current wages because there is a real likelihood with technology, offshoring, and workforce that wages (overall) will continue to be stagnant or even go lower.

But screaming at the MTSOs on the board may make one feel better, but it won't change reality one iota.

Now I have go punch my punching bag and take some prozac.
