Yes, raises are hard to come by at this moment. But nurses in particular are easily making $20K more than they were even ten years ago. A lot of teachers, nursing, police, etc., even if they are not getting merit raises, do receive COLA raises.

I called my son to get his input on deciding between a couple transcription opportunities (as he had put himself through college doing one of these types of report, although he has since moved to greener pastures). I explained what the different places would pay. He was horrified when I told him the cpl, as it was what he was making 15 years ago.

So please name for me a profession that requires the knowledge base our does, the ongoing continuing education, the flexibility of hours, sporadic work flow, etc., that pays the same now as it did 15 years ago (in reality more like 25 years ago).
