Anyone else finding their work drying up in the NE region. Are you sticking around or moving out. I
am not sure what to do yet.
If you tried moving the arrow over and it doesn't work , contact support. They will help you.

No news is good news for me. I check my audited reports all the time
If I need to talk with one of them, I call or IM them.  But, no, I have learned that if I am doing a good job, they leave you alone to do your work.  They are not in any way a company that micromanages as long as you do what you are supposed to.  If you give them a reason to think you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing, they will keep an eye out on your work, etc.
I thought no news is good news, too. Then got email about

True but I got news for ya - you aren't going to get steady work anywhere that way.-
An MTSO has an account to cover. Period. She will give the work to whomever is willing to be flexible enough to cover the account. Even an IC has to work within some framework, not just whenever I feel like it, right?
Anyone work for Superior Global? sm

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how this company is to work for.....Thanks

I receive an anonymous email from someone that had a friend go to work for them and it was bad news.
Glad I passed it up. It sounded awful, no communication and no work etc..
Anyone work for Global Transcription Network
I just got hired on at Global Transcription Network in Arlington, TX. Does anyone know anything about them? They seem real nice and guarantee 800 lines/day. I just dont want set myself up for disappointment if there is something I shoud know about them before I start.
Global Transcription Services is not Superior Global.

I guess no news is good news! :-)
Thanks anyway!
If no news is good news why is a person
.
I agree - no news is good news - sm
They are busy making sure you have work and want you to stay productive and busy.  What is there to talk about?  I personally like being left alone to do my work.  As long as you get a check and the work keeps flowing, just do your thing!
Is this news should have been labeled NEWS ALERT ...
This is breathtaking information and everyone who works at TT or is considering has the right to know. It will be buried with a title like is this news? It seems as if you are responding to the first poster's complaint of no work.
Sometimes.....NO news is Good news. sm
Maybe you are doing just fine and everything is correct. Maybe they do no feel you need feedback because your quality is excellent!!

Good thought for the day :-) !!
good news and bad news ----
Good - plenty of work, just landed a new acct.

Bad - Check posts from a few weeks back. Out of the blue, everyone got a huge pay cut.
moving that way
We are starting a new platform called MModal that will eventually lead to ASR so I am told. I believe some MTs are already doing this. I imagine they will do the same thing MQ does with the reduced pay for ASR.
moving to KS
Yes, I've spoken to many people and they all say Meditech Magic is very easy to learn and they have no problems getting their line count! It sounds like we are making a great move and, hopefully, a permanent one!

Good luck to you to!
All acounts are moving to ASR

Webmedx is going to be converting all its accounts to ASR as soon as they can.  Whatever they offer you now will be cut 30% when your accounts are converted.  If you are Acute Care, you may be stuck with heavy ESL accounts now and depending on how much you like ESL you may have a hard time reaching the minimum 150 lines per hour because you will be training on up to 6 different accounts with different account specifics.  In my opinion, I would ask lots of questions of the recruiter to find out what type of accounts they are hiring for and how long before they convert those accounts to ASR.  Really depends on your frustration level.  If you want consistent and hastle-free work, WMX may not be the best place for you.  GOOD LUCK.

moving on is telling it like it is
I too have had horrible experiences. I think we both were previously working for the same company, a company highly recommended on this board. It was a huge disappointment as far as lines. It was impossible, too many foreign dictators and something funny going on with the line count. You wrote me and told me about Keystrokes. As well, I read your many posts about KS. I took a chance with your advice and accepted a job with them. You were speaking the truth and not just another recruiter. Thank you so much for recommending them and posting your experience with them:)
when vague, keep moving (I WOULD)
.
moving to the country
I'm moving to the country and will not have broadband or DSL available for who knows how long.  I have not been in this situation before and would like to know if any of you know of any companies that do not require either of these - I will have access to dial-up and possibly some sort of high-speed that is brought in by a radio receiver on the top of my house.  It's a good move - just maybe not a good move for an MT - any help with companies that do not require high-speed with cable or dsl would be appreciated.
moving to home
You might want to find out who your hospital is outsourcing to and check into them since you already know the dictators at your hospital well.

There is a lot of difference between companies. You just need to narrow down what you are looking for and which companies offer that. You need F/T with benefits, so that narrows it down some. Some companies pay just a base rate (per line) and others with a base rate with incentives depending on what time of day you work, what volume of work you do, or others. If you have any way of figuring out how many lines a day you type, or at the very least, how many hours you work and at what speed (and maybe someone on here can give you an estimate on lines per hour), then you can compare pay plans. You also need to make sure you find out how a line is defined at the companies you apply to. The standard is 65 characters per line. If a certain company defines a line as 55 characters per line then they can pay less per line because it doesn't take as many Keystrokes to get a line. Hope that makes sense. Most companies do go by 65 cpl, though.

There is no one-fits-all company, so don't be discouraged if the first company you go to doesn't work out. The second may.

Here are some companies that generally have good things posted about them and have benefits (as far as I'm aware): Keystrokes, TransTech, Webmedx... I'm drawing a blank on others. I would recommend staying away from Medquist, Spheris, SPi, Softscript.
Thanks for clearing that up....now I'm moving on ;) nm

there it is - MDI accounts moving to VR
We expect the integration with Transcend, including the conversion of some of MDI's business to Transcend's speech recognition-enabled BeyondTXT platform, to increase MDI's earnings...
That is where numerous Spheris MT's are moving. They are getting a very
There is message board made of Spheris employees, which now has recruiters from Webmedx on encouraging people to quit Spheris. Believe me, Spheris is no bed of roses, but going on another company's board is hitting pretty low.
My apologies on moving the post (SM)
I moved this post originally to the Medquist board, by mistake.

This is not Medquist but a totally different company.

Yes - you won't regret moving to TransTech
:)
DeVenture moving to biweekly pay.
I just went through and changed all my auto payments since we are moving to biweekly payments.  Just wanted to remind those of us that had that weekly DD!

Moving this to Company Board

Very interesting article about Indians running a scam that could affect the entire notion of Americans sending work there...

where can I get info on moving to Portland?
nm
At least Ireland is a country we could consider moving to.

fatcat, I am moving in tandem
with you. I've been quickly researching, putting out resumes and making phone calls, calling on all network contacts. I am not about to make their move any more smooth and not going to sell my job downsteam with a smile. Going with T is doing just that. You're a pro and I am sure you will do well in your next move.
MDI = Moving Dictation to India

Since we are beating this dead horse, let's at least have fun with it.  Can anyone think of any others?  For MDI or any other MTSO's?

I have heard that some savvy Americans are moving
.
I'm moving to Hawaii!!! Here in PA our hospital sent the MTs home but
they must do 100 minutes a shift. They also have to go to meetings once a month at the hospital which they do not get paid for, then have to go home and make up that time. Pay isn't that great either.
No...the post from Moving On makes no sense to me
nm
Is everyone that is job hunting finding jobs available with all the MTs moving around right now. I
am thinking of looking but not sure of the job market right now.
We are moving more into the philosophy or political categories here, but
I have always understood the ultimate goal of technology is to perform the mundane tasks, freeing up human time to pursue more pleasurable activities. The challenge is to find a way to support ourselves...how did they do it on Star Trek?
And to think a few years back, I considered moving
Interesting that they're being fed the same line: 'Not enough medical secretaries in the UK' to do the work. (They must have attended that 'MTSO-For-Dummies' workshop in India, as well.)

This Indian transcription error totally cracked me up and made my day: Below knee amputation became baloney amputation.

I sure as he11 hope I never have to have a baloney amputation......

Spheris, huh? I had missed a few of their interview calls while moving, etc. sm
And lost information about the contacts.  Would anyone know who I could contact?  I filled out an online questionnaire, etc., and they were calling me for an interview.  Maybe I made the wrong decision with this over company.  But, again, everything was completely messed up while moving...Any information would greatly be appreciated!
That account has now added clinic and there are 2 other accounts moving to it. Not sure why they
want the experience, except maybe they need to get them started quickly, and that is easier if they know it in advance.

BTW: The account did get easier as they added work types.
That's news to me???
Have been an employee for many, many years and have never been reimbursed for any long distance charges.
here's news.
Well, Transtech now has Tracy B from MQ and then down the crapper to Heartland at the helm as their new CEO.  How long do you think that will be a good place to work????  About 30 seconds!
But it's such old news
The same two arguments keep coming up again and again...that e-mail and the opinions about the QA director.  The QA director seems to stir up ire.  I don't know. I haven't had to deal with her.  I just know that neither of those points are hindering my job as an MT at OSi.  I'm making more than I ever have and am furthering my career.  I might possibly think twice about ever applying for a QA position with them, but I know that right now I'm really happy with OSi, with the people I deal with, with the amount of money I'm making with them, with my benefits, etc.
Now for the bad news...
I had an offer from them, and while thinking about it (actually debating say with MQ or go with them - their pay, PTO, benefits, healthcare company - EVERYTHING is exactly the same except for $300 equipment deposit) a computer appeared on my doorstep, the trainer called me, tech support ... all of this happened, yet, they did not even have a formal offer acceptance! It's been over 2 weeks now and the computer is still here ... are we starting to see a pattern here? Sound MQ-esq????
Run away before you do ... bad news.

Boy news to me
Like I said I could be wrong, never heard of it before.  Then tell this poster where you got it and what it cost you and help  her out.  What company do you work for?
Bad news sm

I worked there.  The manager is extremely nice in the beginning and then is really mean and rude after you've been there awhile.  I would never consider working for her again even if she paid .15 a line.  It's just not worth it to me.

Feel free to do a search on this board.   I thought maybe things had gotten better, but there are others who had the same experience with them.

Good luck!
