Nicholas Test

Yes, I did.  I was not a difficult test, basic knowledge of grammar.  The dictations were clear and not too difficult.  One was a little tricky.  I'm thinking if the test was clear, then their sound quality should be to, if I were to work for them.

I just don't like most of these internet based platforms for the simple reason of the sound quality - the handful I've worked on can't be slowed down or tweaked.  ExText could but not the rest.  You can email me privately if you want.

I applied with them and do hope to hear from them.
Re: Nicholas Transciption

The owner is wonderful.  They have great accounts.  You are not in a pool.  You get your own dictators.  The pay is on time.  The support is great.  Overall, a wonderful company.

Nicholas Transcription??
Does anyone know anything about this company? They have an ad for an Editor, but would like any positive/negative info before applying. Thanks!

I did the test on Sunday. There were a few blanks which I thought were rather difficult but overall I thought that I did pretty well. I still have not heard from them. I have been a MT for over 11 years. Is it possible that I did that poorly or does it take a while for a response? Thanks for any help.

Anyone have any experience with Nicholas Transcription?

Any info on this company?  Thanks a bunch.

Hello,

Did you test with them yet?? I was contemplating taking the test, but do not know much about them.

Thanks,

Maryb

Does anyone work for or know anything about Nicholas Transcription Company?  I checked the archives, but nothing since 2004.
Nicholas Transcription...sm
Any current information on this company?
Nicholas Transcription

This company does not use a platform. You work with templates in MS Word. It is impossible to crash a computer using a template. Templates do not break hardware. If you were unhappy with the line rate than why agree to work with the company. When you are interviewed with this company it is explained up front what is expected of you and you are given a contract to sign again with what is expected of you in writing. If you can't live up to what is expected then do not sign the contract or agree to work for this company. This company works with each MT and if a problem arises and you can not meet your 24 hour TAT all you have to do is talk to them. They will work with you by extending additional time for you to complete the work, or have it reassigned. In regards to a $2 fee for the direct deposit. That is your choice, it is not required. You can receive a check in the mail, its your choice. If you feel that a company that provides samples, answers their own phone and email, works with each and every MT, requires no line minimun, has plenty of work, allows you to work on the same provider and not pull work from a pool, and allows you to complete your work at your convenience in a 24 hour TAT is a bad company to work for then perhaps its a good thing you are not working for them.

Anyone with information on Nicholas Transcription in NH? Thank you! (NM)

I always got paid on time at Nicholas..sm
I think there were possibly a couple of times where it was 2-3 days late, but she always let us know what was going on ... she's a nice lady to work for, friendly and flexible.

Biggest drawback for me was pay was only 7 cpl at the time (about 4-5 years ago), and there was slight disorganization due to rapid growth. New tech issues, specs, staff changes, etc. Decent dictators, though, and I liked working there. I left due to the pay.

All that being said, I now have my own MT service, and I personally do not agree with paying ICs when an MTSO gets paid. I consider that a business expense like any other, and I allow for and recoup those costs from the clients accordingly. An MTSO's collection issues/methods should not be the IC's problem, IMO. I believe an IC has the right to expect regular payment for services rendered.

If you can accept the payment arrangement knowing there MIGHT be times you'll have to wait, it's a nice place to work, though.
Nicholas Transcription/not Valentine
My head must have left me...I was wondering about Nicholas Transcription in New Hampshire not about Valentine Transcription.  Anyone heard anything about them or has anyone worked for them.  JMD
Nicholas Transcription FTP question..

I'm just wondering which File Transfer Protocol they use.  I don't mean to sound like I'm prying, but the last couple I've used I had a problem slowing down the dictation, meaning you could absolutely not slow the voice down, or even adjust it.  It was the way it was.  Now, how in the world can you start a new account without being able to slow down occassionally?

Anybody else had this problem?  Are they all like this?  I'm on C-phone right now.  Not perfect, but I like it okay.

Playback Software at Nicholas

Gotcha!  Getting my terms straight here   So, I did my research and the software used to 'play' the voice is Professional Digital Transcription Playback Software )DTPS).

The few I've worked with always have that annoying feature where you can't modify the voice speed.  Are they all like that?

I'm just wondering what the PDTPS is like at Nicholas.  BTW - I made up that abbreviation - may not be accurate!

Thanks for letting me pick your brain!!!

It doesn't look like you'll get paid by Nicholas
you don't know when you'll get paid.  The others I have no idea.  Just my 2 cents.
I looked into Nicholas, but I felt that it was too risky

I took a test for a company and my foot pedal would work with the test and I had keep going back
over the dictation time and again to get all the words because I couldnt stop and start it by the foot pedal.  What can I do about this.
Just took the test myself. No actual dictation to transcribe. Just a written test.
For 13 cpl, I might do it if the dictators aren't a total horror.
I just took the test today - thought it was a great test of MT skills.

There is no written test. Must have been a different company. I took their ortho test sm
and it was easy. You had to know your terminology but it was easy to understand AND I used my foot pedal.
Is the test through mttest.com a timed test? Thanks. nm

Anyone work for Oak Transcription or Nicholas Transcription- please e-mail me nm

MQ Test
How long does it take MedQuist to get back to applicants once they have completed the test??  It has been a week for me now and have heard nothing.  Is that good or bad????  TIA
What are they asking you to do? What is the test?
MTStars? Maybe there are some posts that may tell you something.

Took their test once.
Short ER test. Easy as it gets. They claimed I didn't pass their test and was therefore unqualified to work for them.

After doing MT for 10+ years at some of the top medical centers in the country (including currently) and ERs for 3+ years, it was obvious they were screwed up pretty bad.

Has anyone taken a test using
on MT Test are using Cscribe.  I think it stinks, but maybe a foot pedal would help.  Thanks.
I did a test for them.........sm
I did a test file for this company.  I never heard back from them.  The lady said they required 98% to pass.  I know I didn't get 98% because I had to rush through the fairly large test file, and I was working for MQ.  With my job at MQ there were some strange requirements that I carried into those reports without time to check the BOS.  However, after working about 4 hours on the test file they never even had the courtesy to reply.  I do not think that this is professional, JMO.

I took their test.
I did AWFUL.  I'm not sure why.  I've taken dozens of other employer tests and got anywhere from a 96 to a 100 on ALL of them.  On Medware's test I got a 43 out of 50, which is basically an 86.  I can't understand it!!  It didn't seem that difficult, if I recall, and I've done so well on everyone else's test.  Needless to say, I didn't get offered a job.  LOL!
I did take the test,
but at the time I was offered a position with another company that I decided to take. I have over 25 years of experience in this business. The test is not timed and it is open book. They tell you that at the beginning. You may think it is over the top, and that may be true; however, they may be wanting to see just how good we (as MTs) are at doing research and such. I'm not saying I agree with the test, I'm just saying that each company has their own way of doing things. If you want the job, you have to do what it takes to get it.
Did you take the test?
.
How did you do on the test?
.
So, how did you do on the test?
.
I took their test also.

They told me I didn't pass either.  I requested to see what mistakes I made and wanted to know what my test score was, and they never told me even after sending several emails to them asking for this information.

I wanted to see what mistakes I made as I didn't have any problem taking their test at all, and I don't understand it.

Test???
I haven't had to take a test with them. I applied through the job seekers board here, got a call the next day, offered the job and was told they would be send me the Lanier system and my lead would get in touch with me on Wednesday when she gets back from training on this new account. I hope there isn't a test, I don't like tests, please don't make me take a test, I don't wanna, I don't wanna. LOL.
I never got to take the test but
another poster gave me some very helpful information on who to talk to when I call, which was very much appreciated.
I took the test but not sure it went thru..

DRC test
Yes, it's difficult if you don't have the required experience. No reference books allowed. Tester will also ask you questions which you will have to answer off the top of your head. If you don't know your stuff, it's hard to fake it. Not trying to discourage you from testing -- just being honest with you.
Test.
I agree.  Back when we had to fax tests, I would have a job offer on my answering machine by the time I returned home.  Not bragging, really not.  Been doing this for close to 20 years, better be able to pass tests.  On my tests I will transcribe verbatim but point out troubling points.  I.E.  One time dictated: Spinal cord removed.  I put it but put an * and put I hate to type this, but this is what he said.  Companies take notice of that.
Look around. Take a test. Get a better job. They are out there.

I did test with them
but I wanted to know more about them like how much work they have.
