As I pointed out below in another post, it is not all 24/7. Many departments are closed, others are open on a very limited basis. There is no justifiable reason for an MTSO to maintain full staffing on weekends when most of those people are doing the same thumb-twiddling on Saturday afternoon that they are on Tuesday afternoon. Maybe you've had too much of the MTSO Kool-Aid if you are so willing to buy into the 24/7 full staffing requirement.

Go try to get yourself a routine chest x-ray or have a mole removed at 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning, and see how many people are there to take care of the perceived 24/7 need.
