Is this by any chance a company that starts with "M"??? nm

The company sounds wonderful, by chance....
do you need a really dedicated Radiology MT????
Work not taken-Give company a chance

I have been with Transcend for almost 6 years and while they are not a perfect company they are better than most.  There have been mergers in the past-I actually came from the other MDI (which was a much more laid back company).  As far as I've seen with past mergers you get to keep your work.  They don't take you off it and give it to someone else.  That makes no sense to have to train new MTs for your accts and you on something else.  I know you are unhappy that you have to make a change but give Transcend a chance.  They are a good company. Is it a good fit for everyone?  No, but you won't know until you give it a chance with an open mind.  And before the bashers get on and say I am management, I am not, just another in the trenches MT who has worked for other services in the past. As far as outsourcing, I know it is done but as far as I can tell it is not a lot.  I work on 2 different platforms and both have plenty of work and have had for quite a while now.

Is Caretech a company located in Michigan by any chance. nm
;
By chance, are these people calling "non-Americans" I worked for a company
who shall remain nameless but their supervisors were in India and would IM me constantly to do a STAT. Even though, I would try tellin them I was not working that day or that I was going somewhere. They continued to ask. It was bizarre. I kept think, what part of English DONT you understand..NO..I thought meant the same everywhere. They are just the only poeple I have dealt with that just doesnt comprehend rejection of any sort, but that's just me.
Best Company in the MT World
Stat-Med in Missouri - Pay is excellent, always, always on time. Owner is the best person to work for and I absolutely love it.

Greenlight - Pay is absolutely great. Owner is SUPER and again love working for them.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BEING A MT....
I would not go so far as to say they cannot be beat. sm
There are several services out there offering 10 cents a line AND they pay full benefits, PTO, 401K, holiday pay etc, AND they have direct deposit, which FN has for only a very select few.  Who wants to pay $25.00 a pay day to have your check overnighted?  Not me.  Otherwise, you wait for the mail which could take over a week to get to you.  Not very technologically advanced in my opinion. Plus, the ESLs really are the worst ever.  I am glad I left and got a REAL job with REAL benefits.
Beat you both....
I am 66 years old and still working full time at home. Worked as a legal Transcriptionist for over 30 years, but had always been interested in medical, so I took a course, and been working ever since. Just wish they had telecommuting many years ago!
Don't beat yourself up
I have a 5-year-old who is prone to ever respiratory illness known to man it seems, which terrifies me after him being born with CDH and one lung not fully functioning. Anyway, even at this age, he knows my work is important but that I'm here for him if he needs me. I actually have my office set up with a small sofa in it. If he's sick, he lays in here with me where I can keep an eye on him. I don't believe your child will be traumatized with you having to work while he's sick. Just the sight of mommy makes things seem better, and at least he has that. :)
Oh I can beat that one...
How bout they email to say there's no work...then close with, Take this slow time to get some Christmas shopping done or to do something nice for yourself! Excuse me, if I aint making cha-ching...I aint Christmas shopping and I certainly aint gonna waste money on a massage or a manicure...Puhleeze!!!
do not beat yourself up

I took the test for the WMX and did pass (they would not accept the schedule I needed).  I do believe that I left a blank on one of the reports, could not hear what was said and I belive I left blank lines for any MD name listed.

It might have been something else, like maybe you did not hyphenate (5-cm incision), or maybe it was a wrong medical word.

No one ever tells you what you did wrong.  Maybe you could e-mail them back and find out what it was.  Just tell them you would like to learn from your mistakes so that you could re-apply in the future.

You beat me to the punch. - nm
hehehe
I think you are both saying the same thing. Why beat each other up? nm
nm
Wow. That's really beat. There's a butt for
.
SHOULD HAVE BEAT THEM AT THEIR OWN GAME...SM
Sounded like a backstabbing, dirty trick to play.  But if you had known (and the NEXT time they ask you for a list of worst dictators) you will know what to do...thanks for the tip for the rest of us:  Just do a turnabout and give them a list of your BEST one...they'll send the worst to India!!! Kind of like switching drinks with someone who's spiking your drink when they're not looking (LOL)
BEAT FEET!
I agree with everyone. If this is an example of how they treat you in the beginning, just think of what it will be like after a few months!
IMO, TT is hard to beat
Nice people, including the nicest QA people I've ever encountered, low-key, let the MTs do their work without micromanagement, great communication, and a really generous bonus plan.

The account I'm on is on Escription but they have other platforms, too. I love my account and actually look forward to working every day.

I haven't been there very long, but I just can't say anything negative at all.

TT pretty much is the best I've worked for.
You are right. It is hard to beat the experience of having someone sm

right there to listen for you.  I worked in a department where there were ladies with 20+ years of experience.  It was amazing to me that they could listen once and knew what it was.  Unfortunately, not many places offer inhouse training programs anymore, and even when offered, it seems that most people want to start working at home immediately.  I have tried to mentor people by having them call me and play the dictation over the phone, but it is still not the same.

Nice to meet a fellow TTer

Not to beat the break thing

to death, but I just read the responses to my question about the lunch/breaks and think I might have been misunderstood.

It is line-based pay (not hourly).  I don't expect to be paid for lunch (that is voided out like other jobs).  We work the extra time to have the lunch so doesn't affect our line count

It just seems like if workers are legally supposed to have 2, 15-minute breaks during an 8 hour shift but line count is based on 8 hours, then it's sort of like we really don't get the breaks (like if in an hourly-wage job, people got pay deducted if they took their breaks).

Am I making any more sense wording it this way?

New accts. Can I beat myself with a stick now? A-G-G-H
nm
Oh yeah...I can beat that one...How about the IT guy who tells who...
that the company has massively overhired on the account that you were just hired for. Hmm...could that be the reason why I have no money to buy my kids any Christmas gifts this year???!!! 9 months to go and I will never go near this transcription bullcrap ever again!!! This is my last Christmas ever again that I can't buy my kids any Christmas gifts!!!
I got that beat - three days to figure out it wasn't for me (sm)
Spent more time flipping through paperwork trying to figure out spellings for carbon copies.  (CC to everybody! referring doc, primary doc, all docs on speciality team).  Spent more time arrowing up and down the prefilled headings looking for the one the doc was dictating.  Had to delete headings not used by dictator (but prefilled on form).  WASTE of my time.  Hopefully they've fixed all this mess.
I have worked at MQ before and I would say that HIS has them beat when it comes to playing dirty!!
nm
Trying to beat the mass exodus. May be hard to

What world is that? Wally World?
nm
I be wlling to bett you my $200,000+ house here in Georgia will beat
anything like that in California. I watch HGTV and cannot believe what kind of crappy looking homes you get there for a price that is so over the top. I have a stand alone 4 bedroom, 4 bath, stucco house with over 600 square feet great room and a huge fireplace. I was in Sacremento about 2 years ago and what gives with the homes connecting onto 1 another? That was really strange for me. We live in Georgia also and with his salary and mine we have gone to the $90,000 salary per year. I would take my home here any ole day than what is offered there for 4 or 5 times the price of mine.
I think I beat the dictators on that made-up term -- deductionable ! Oops ! nm
l
I'd do it in a heartbeat. You'll never beat a hospital's benefits or job security.

I like the idea of going to my job every day, doing it well, and being done with it. You are not penalized pay-wise if you dont happen to meet your line count and the incentives are nice. I'd say jump from that sinking ship and jump aboard job security.

If you timed in for WEbinar let them know so they can take it off time card. Doesn't that beat a
.
sorry - chance - the end got cut off..nm

Not a chance. nm. been there, ya da da
nm
By any chance...
Was this company called Proficient Transcription? If so, you need to look at the posts on the New MT board. She has been ripping off newbies for a while now.
DON'T TAKE A CHANCE

Pay is consistently late--and comes with a boat load of excuses.  Not worth it.  I am still waiting for payments.

Were you an IC by any chance? sm
I'm in the mid $20 per hour range myself but have long experience on 2-3 of my accounts. Good benefits make up for any loss in line rate you may see.
by any chance
was the wife's name Faye?
Any chance of getting a new sup and
I was the one who was so excited about the company I called it Axolotl, a Bright light in a dim universe. Some people even applied because I was so excited. Then, I was so disappointed about my experience. I still mourn over leaving but living life that way is not acceptable, micromanaged by a person who is so controlling was not my idea of a great work experience. So wish we could all go back and do it over again with just a bit better experience!
I did get a chance to do that once sm
My son's dermatologist happened to be a doctor I was typing at the time.  He was in a large clinic system and when I saw him name come up I wasn't a big fan.  He talked way too fast and never spelled any doctors names at all.  We got to talking and I mentioned that I sometimes got his work and he asked if he was good.  I told him he was okay but if he could slow down and maybe spell the occasional referring physician's name that would be great.  I never get his work anymore so I don't really know if he ever improved or not but it sure was nice to tell him about it!
By any chance
Could/would you share the name of this company? Sounds IDEAL.

TIA.
Do you by any chance
work on VR and if so, which system do you use?
did you mean by chance Indian
.
Fred,, are you in GA by any chance? nm

They will cut you off at the knees if given the chance sm
When you start they treat you like a queen. They then disappear and at any moment could e-mail to tell you its not working out. I left their on my own, but this happened to several others. They also tried not to pay one person for her wor just because she put in her notice.
In Texas by any chance?

nm

Yes, I say give them a chance... SM
Because overall they ARE a good company. I cannot say that they are the very best, and will fit every single person, because they're not and will not. The QA dept really isn't too bad either, but they are very... sensitive I guess. You may never ever have a problem with any of them, and I know that most of them below the manager and a particular team lead are perfecly competent and nice. So don't even let that worry you. :) I wish you luck with your new position!

any chance all DRCers could get to know one another?
Really wish I knew who you all are who are on this board. It would be nice to be able to correspond a little less publicly about all this new info we got today. If anyone is interested, I would be the first to give my name and the account I work on. I'm willing to give Acusis a chance, but it just hurts so much that this has all been going on behind the scenes for months and months and months and I just kept blythely typing along, thinking everything was secure. My biggest worry is what happens after the 100 days? Words are just words and the fact that he says he has no desire to shuffle things while perhaps meant to assay our fears, truly just made me more nervous. My loyalty was always to DRC but I'm not so sure anymore that their loyalty was to their employees. I have to chew on that for a while.
Only have dial-up, no chance
of ever getting high-speed internet access where I live... my only other option is satellite, haven't wanted to shell out the bucks for that up to now, but may have to.   Can anyone tell me what companies still use dial-up or allow satellite connections?  I hate to apply at companies, etc only to find out that they won't allow dial-up or satellite.   Thanks so much for any suggestion about where to begin.
Oh, I would jump at that chance if available!!
nm
Give em a chance
I have been with Transcend for over 2 years now and I love it.  They will assign more accounts for you as needed when you are out of work.  There are more options than just jumping ship.  They are a very good company to work for.
Is there a chance of me getting 9 cpl at Medscribe?
I am with Medquist currently and after three days of no work coming over, I am ready to head 'em up and move 'em out...I know a lot of companies pay very low, even for MTs with lots of experience, and I would like to avoid those companies.  How well does Medscribe pay?  I have no idea, and they won't say.  By the way, I do mostly ER reports...Any negatives on the company?  Thanks!
