M.L. is the reason I turned down the job. Rude & did not
x
She is very rude & nasty. That's why I turned
them down. One of my friends later ended up working for them & said that lady is always like that & she ended up not staying there long. I don't know how she ever gets or keeps employees with her attitude.
It's still 8 cpl. I turned down a position with
Too evasive in their answers to my questions and not willing to take the time to talk with me.
They offered me a position, but I turned it down.
What the recruiter said and what the team leader said was in direct conflict.  Then there is the question of offshoring.
Yes, turned down a position with them last month for this reason.
It's nobody else's business!!:)
Oh, yes, it turned out I didn't need the 1099 after all
Just as said above, when I didn't receive it my accountant just told me to get my own information together and then send the employer a letter telling them that this is how much I earned, this is how much I'm going to claim. I guess I was just letting the OP know that I knew the feeling of not getting a 1099.

To the other poster above, I did get out of there as soon as I could. It was a local MTSO and at that point I was new and even now I didn't want to work for the Nationals so I stayed. The pay was good and as an IC I made my own hours. The only problem basically was the 1099 situation.
I passed it but turned them down. Didn't trust

How is turning you down for a position rude? Are they, or any other company, obligated to give you
No. As a recruiter, I am seeing this more and more. Maybe the hours you were available did not match what they needed. Maybe your equipment or speciality or background did not match. How is it rude not to hire someone? There would be no need for interviews if everyone was just hired because they applied. I did not understand most of this until I started recruiting. The company I work for is spoken well of on this board and then bashed at other times. I see a lot of people that think they are entitled to a position or a shift or a certain account. It is difficult to be on this side.
I'm very sorry! I didn't mean it to be rude, was just - sm
in a funny mood and had this mental picture of an MTSO in the Emerald City. It was all downhill from there.

I wish everyone on this forum was so darned THIN-SKINNED! If ever there was something MTs need these days, it's a sense of humor.
I didn't say she was rude for making more lines
I said she was rude for implying that somehow it was the fault of those who have low volumes and that they should get a life, and I didn't bring up the email because I thought it was inconsiderate. I brought it up because it shows that the company isn't going to acknowledge something that isn't a problem. Besides, if you work there, you know for a fact that a lot of people are posting there about not having work. Are you calling all the people that posted there liars? Why would you come here and act like it's not happening at all? A lot of people that are working other shifts and sit all day long fishing for jobs only to end up using their PTO just to bring in what they're used to. Telling someone to get a life because they have it better than someone else is just plain rude.
Wow. You thought that was rude? I didn't see any name calling or condescending
attitude like a lot of other people's posts. No, Sara Beth and Billy Bob did not ask a legitimate question. It was a flame attempt and you're helping to fuel the fire.
Keystrokes - I thought this was rather rude

I applied at Keystrokes at least 6 weeks ago.  My only communication with them was my sending a resume and them sending back a questionnaire regarding my equipment.  Not asked to test, nothing.

I get this rather unsettling e-mail today (6 weeks later):

Thank you for your interest in the medical transcription position now available at Keystrokes Transcription Service, Inc. We have had the opportunity to review your resume and regret to inform you that we have chosen to pursue other candidates whose skills, background, and length of experience more closely match our needs.

Now, let my just say I have 16 years of experience, acute care, ops and have worked for some large teaching hospitals with always great QA scores.  What the heck is up with this company?

Don't know. I was offered a position with them but didn't
take it.    I know very little about DQS/WebCorrect, but the recruiter told me you get a couple of lines for each report for having to look at a file.   I don't know enough about DQS to understand exactly what they are talking about though.
Not above poster, but I didn't take a position with them
because they offshore.
I was offered a position with TT but didn't

take it so I can't speak for them, but Axolotl is a great company.  I'm making almost 2 cpl more than what TT offered.  Work has been slow lately but they pay downtime and have are adding accounts little by little.  6 paid holidays, PTO, 401K with up to 3% match, free short/long-term disability.  I don't have a need for health insurance, but premiums are more reasonable than most.

They provide all hardware/software.  Great tech support available 24/7.  QA pretty strict, but reasonable.  Almost no flexibility with schedule, though getting off for doctor's appointments and things like that aren't an issue.  I think they only have 90 MTs/QA right now so still a small company, but one that respects its employees.

I've been there a year and like with anything there have been a few ups and downs, but I would highly recommend then.

I was offered a position but didn't accept.

The whole time I was interviewing the recruiter was IMing people, either interrupting to do it or saying out loud what she was sending.  I can understand the need to communicate, but thought it extremely rude.

The account they wanted to put me on was the most wonderful account and I was lucky there was an opening because the MTs on the account just loved it and there was rarely an opening.   She then put me in contact with the lead on the account and she told me that it was an extremely difficult account and that they couldn't keep MTs on the account.  I had worked on the account years ago when I worked on YOG and I knew that it was an extremely difficult account.   The lead also let slip that they offshored work and the good work went offshore and the crap was left here for us to do.

I hate being lied to more than anything and once someone lies and I catch them in it I'm done, no second chances.

If they offered you a position, didn't they give you a pay rate?
nm
Keystrokes Rad position
The pay is $1.10 per report.
Keystrokes position....
I was just offered a position with Keystrokes.....WOOHOOOOOO ...I'm excited but scared too.  Anyone who works for them that can offer some advise I would be extremely grateful.  Have to get high speed internet before the weekend but that shouldn't be a problem and they are sending me a Lanier system to use.  Just have the new job jitters and could use some reassurance from others who work for them.  Thank you.
Keystrokes position
I have decided that I am not going to take this position with Keystrokes. It has been 8 days since contacted, I have faxed back all my employee paperwork and was told that they are waiting on my ID from the hospital that I would be working for. That was 5 days ago and still I haven't heard anything. I got a response back from Becky B. but not from Annette L. who I take it would be my sup. Sorry but I can't raise a family on we are waiting to get your ID and then we will send your Lanier.
I accepted a position with another company making 11 cpl (more than KS) and no minimum requirements who said they could get me started on Monday. Sorry, but I need to make money and can't do that when a company can't even tell you when you can start. To bad too, I was really excited about KS. Oh well, win some, lose some.
Considering position with Keystrokes....

I was offered a position on an account that uses word...I assume this means they do not have a platform.  Also, I will be using a C-phone which I have not used in years.

I have transcribed for a company or two that did not have a platform, and felt like I was not able to get up to full speed.

Anyone out there working for Keystrokes typing in Word and using a C-phone, transcribing over 400 lines per hour?  I saw some posts below, but not sure if that is with a platform such as DocQScribe or Extext.

Thanks for any input.

agree, i didn't take the position because the health insurance stinks
the deductibles are too high
.DCT files for Keystrokes position
I am trying to test for a position at Keystrokes and I cannot open up a .DCT file on my wave player.  Can any MT who works for Keystrokes help me with these types of files? Thanks!
never mind Shasta...sorry...that wasn't you...
I got the posts mixed up...sorry again
I'm thinking about applying at Keystrokes for a radiology position.
Could anyone tell me if they pay per report, how much they start you with and if there are increases along the way. Have seen past post with different amounts and have seen a post in the archives stating 1.25 per report and 1.25 more for reports over 2 minutes long.
I'm on Peace River, Shasta and Carolina Pines. Too much work!!. NM

That's how Keystrokes does it. I didn't like it.

The rude rude rude post is TRUE
.
My only contact with them was rude. The front office person or whomever schedules interviews is rude
This was about a year ago but I set up an interview and either I was supposed to call them or they were to call me at a certain time but I totally spaced off the time change. The lady went off on me and told me that they had no interest in me because I couldn't call on time etc. Rude. There is no way I would ever work for someone like that.
I do not understand the hostility either. I didn't "need" a gift from Keystrokes, sm

but I have to say that I love my t-shirt and the fact that they thought to send it.  Would I still think it is a great company if they had not have sent anything?  You betcha.  And does my feeling of self-worth ride on whether or not I get an atta boy?  Of course not.  But those little things are a nice touch and very much appreciated.  I have not been working at KS long enough to have done anything yet, plus I have been a bit poverty stricken lately, but in the past, I have occasionally sent chocolates or something to the head office to show MY appreciation too.  It is a 2-way street.  When you have a good working relationship, it doesn't hurt every now and then to say thanks ... I appreciate all you do.  Just my opinion.

Hope everyone is having a nice Memorial Day weekend.  Time to forget the nastiness and just relax and enjoy life.

Just be rude..out and out rude so they have just cause to "fire" you.. haha..What a bunch of i
Who would want to work for incompetent people like that. Time to change your phone numbers. They are like bad stalkers.
Rude answer to a rude post. nm
nm
3 words, rude, rude, rude....sm

the owner sends out UGLY and NASTY emails to the MTs. The communication is just a disorganized mess and they hire you as an IC, but pretty much treats you like an employee.  Emdat sucks and pretty much the accounts are not that great.  VERY hard to get your lines in Emdat platform.  They LOVE to FIRE....when in actuality.....(that is the term they use)...you cannot FIRE an IC, you can lock them out of the system and I guess that is firing, but those two words have always been a pet peeve of mine....hearing when MTs are fired as ICs....Just my opinion

Rude, rude posters
Hope you rude posters find a good fit for you.  Don't run down OSi because some of us like them.  No problems either and I have 10 years experience.  No newbies here like you say.  Love the accounts I'm on.  Hope the complainers find a good home, but if not, they will be back and on another company's case.
It is so rude to call QA rude because YOU have
been stuck on QA hold for six months!! And the other poster above - if you are getting QA notes and they are including your supervisor, which you imply is not the norm, then YOU are the one responsible. It matters not if you've been an MT for 1 week or 30 years - if your skills are not up to par, they are not up to par. Many MTs get cleared from QA hold within hours or days at most - companies do NOT want to hold you up from producing, nor do they love to waste their $ on MTs on QA hold. You really need a reality check. And no, I am not rude! It is always, always the MTs lacking in skills who get pissed at QA - no form of feedback is acceptable to that type - even sealed with a kiss and a big bow!
Rude! Recruiter was very rude to me.
She had an attitude right off the bat.
I was turned down

by TRX because I am not a member of the AKC. Disappointed.

I turned them down too
Took a job that paid more. 7.75 cpl was just way too much of a pay cut for me.
I know someone who turned them down
recently because of the low pay. I guess they sent her a contract anyway and didn't even acknowledge that she very clearly stated that she will not work for anyone for that line rate. Then they sent her an email wanting to know why she hadn't filled it out and returned it. Not the brightest bulb in the bunch??
I was turned off of them because..
I applied, immediately heard back and asked to test immediately because they were in a big hurry to fill the positions and liked my resume. I did this and then...NOTHING.. not the courtesy of even telling me I passed or didn't pass (honestly this test was so easy that I would have been shocked if I didnt pass). I even did a follow email to see what was going on and they never even acknowledged me in any shape or form. In my eyes, this is total unprofessionalism and gives me a bird's eye view how they handle their business. No thanks. I moved on.
Turned another one down...
I received another offer today of 8 cpl (from a popular MTSO), no matter the level of experience. Seriously??? So, I would be paid the same rate as a newbie, and I have 22 years of HARD-EARNED experience? I think not. I am going to keep sending in my resume and I'll keep turning them down if they remain low. I may be but a single voice, but it will be heard. They should be ashamed. I made more than 8 cpl when I first started. There's no way I'd go back to lower than that at this point in my career. I'm too good for that.
They tried but KS turned them down. sm
They were not happy when the owners turned them down, but from what I understand, they do socialize together.

The owners of KS are very open about being aggressive with growth and want to be at $50 million. With the way they grow every year, I bet it will happen sooner than later.

I am glad to work for a company that is growing. The MQ and Spheris annual reports are very scary. How can they stay in business with losing millions every year?
be glad you turned it down (sm)
The Baltimore office's "big" oncology account is MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas. To be cleared to work on the account you have to train for weeks with this PA person (not MT, no background in English, etc.) who is comma crazy and keeps changing her mind. Reminds me of OmegaWorst's QA -- people who have never properly learned grammar and syntax, provide no printed style guide, and nit-pick to death. Think the docs care whether there is or is not a comma after the last item in the series?
That's interesting! I just turned SS
xx
The thread turned and

and drifted to another company.  It's not your fault, and it's easy to see how you could have taken it the way you did.  (As an aside, I totally understand and empathize with the late nights!!!)

And I agree with what you said.  It is very helpful to express good experiences with a company.  However, I'm not going to do that unless I've been with a company for a minimum of 1-1/2 years.

I don't know how long you've been with FN.  I can only speak from my own experience, and I came here before as a newbie, bragging about how great a company was, only to discover months later that the negative comments I responded to were completely accurate and warranted, and now I have egg on my face.  ~LOL~

I won't ever post a positive post about a company until well after the honeymoon period, when I'm certain they're for real, even though I know how tempting it is when you think you've struck gold and found the right company, getting good line counts, making lots of money, etc., to want to share that positive experience with the world!

Sometimes I think that's part of the company's reason for the honeymoon period:  So the employees will think the company is so great, they happily and unwittingly become a PR person for the company.

I've recently been burned pretty badly by the company the above poster was referring to, so that's why I responded.  Even though she didn't mention any specific names, those of us who are employed by that company know exactly who she was talking about.

Again, I apologize for confusing the issue.  I totally believe everything you said about FN, and I'm glad you found a company that makes you want to defend it.  There's nothing better than being able to respect and trust your employer.  I hope someday I can find that kind of company, and I just might check FN, based on your comments.

I turned them down for same reason.

As they should have turned you down. Medware has
some hard accounts so even 96% is low. Most companies require 98% accuracy on testing.
I turned them down after seeing the pay scale

I did send them an email and explain that my expectations for transcribing all work types in acute care would be 10 cpl.  They start out at 6.  That's a canyon of difference!

It also bothered me that pay is based on which shift you work.  It seems to me that goes into the gray area of IRS guidelines of control for employee versus IC status.  I need to work split shifts.  Also, I am more inclined to work when there is work and if there is no work during my shift, how can I make money?  I asked if they could negotiate some of these issues with me and they stopped communicating with me.  I'm glad I went with my instinct and did find someone else who gives me the flexibility, line rate and work types I wanted.

Glad you turned them down!! More of us need to do that. NM
