Do you mean one of the Med-Scribes and not Medi-Scribe? What state is your
s
Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need.  I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
You are correct. The state that rules is the state the employee lives in.
My state laws has is spelled out in their Code. If another state does not withhold, they are fined heavily and if they don't withhold for years, their fines are pretty bad. I worked for a Florida co that did not withhold income tax for my state even after I brought it to their attention in the state code. They kept saying that they would eventually and never did. After two plus years and when I left, I made it known to my state all the conversations, the state refunded me all late fees they charged me and then said they were going after the company in Florida because they had many employees in our state. They deserved it. They knew better.
The state you live in or the state where the MTSO is located? nm

If company is in state that has no state taxes
they are not required to take out state taxes.  It's enough to keep up with your own state tax law code, could you imagine having to stay abreast of 49 other state tax codes?  The cost would be huge and ultimately passed on to us by lower line rates.  Regardless of who owes the tax, someone has to pay it.  Just a matter of convenience I guess.
Not state by state, federal labor law - sm
and you don't have to be asked. If you work it, asked or not, they have to pay time and a half OT rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.

Taken right from U.S. Dept of Labor -
An employer who requires or PERMITS an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)MUST receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.

Extra pay for working weekends or nights is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative). The FLSA does not require extra pay for weekend or night work or double time pay.

Different state to state. You would be surprised to find

IC can be defined differently state to state.  Even the IRS cannot come up with a definitive set of rules.  You would be surprised how many ICs actually get unemployment in some states.  If the unemployment claim form asks specifically if you are an independent contractor, do not lie, but if it does not, do not volunteer it.  Let the company prove you are a true IC according to the rules of your state.  All you lose is a few minutes filling out the claim form.  I would only do it as a last resort.  If you can find work fast, by all means go for it, but the way things are now with all the VR and off-shoring, it is a backup if you cannot find work.  No one should go hungry because they are afraid to file for Unemployment as an IC.

They should take out state taxes for the state
nm
It varies from state to state
nm
Varies from state to state
My own state recognizes partial unemployment, too, when your work gets cut down to half of your regular workload/income.
They must deduct FEDERAL taxes.. NOT STATE taxes.. if they took out state taxes.. it would be FLORID
which would only have to be refunded to you for you to pay YOUR state what you owe them which is nothing but a pain... be glad they weren't handling your state tax.. and I think in this case.. if someone at the IRS told you they have to deduct YOUR states taxes.. it is that person who is uneducated... they only have to deduce federal income tax

E-Scribe

Does anyone know how much E-scribe pays per line? I am thinking of applying with them.  What is a good rate to type for?  I was told 8 cpl (65 characters w/spaces) was a good rate. Does anyone pay less or more than that? Is 7 cpl too little?

Able Scribe

I applied for a job a few months ago and it turned out they didn't even have the account, but then MT companies aren't exactly known for their integrity.

Med-Scribe in FL? SM
I was wondering if anyone could give me recent information about this company.  The only information I could find in archives was 2 or more years old.  Anyone currently working there, I would really appreciate some input regarding pay, dictators, benefits, etc.  TIA
RE: Scribe Right
Great company! But only IC status-no benefits, which works great for me as DH as the benefits. Pay always on time. Very happy with them.
Med-Scribe - FL
I have read past posts that have me a bit scared about getting paid if I accept a position with them, but these posts are over a year old.  Have things improved in that respect?  Any new news on this?  Please reply.  Thanks!
Med-Scribe
I have applied with Med-Scribe and am wondering if I can get some feedback from other MTs. I searched the archives, and all the messages were more than 2 years old. I am really, really hoping things have improved since they were posted! I really need to get off the IC and get some insurance. I would love to hear from any current or recent employees. Thanks!
Med-Scribe
There is not a lot of info on this company except for really old posts. Can anyone tell me generally whether they enjoy working for Med-Scribe, how is the pay, how is the work flow and what platform do they use?
Doc-U-Scribe
Medquist and DSG. DSG is hiring.
it is Doc-Q-scribe....

med-scribe
does anyone know how much med-scribe pays?  Thank you!
Med-Scribe
I have just been offered a position with Med-Scribe out of Florida for an ER account (which is what I wanted). Are they a good place to work for, pay on time, pay for spaces, treat employees well, etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
What about Med-Scribe or D&L?

Med-Scribe in NJ
Anyone with current information on this company.  Lots of older stuff found but unable to tell if they are about this one or the one in Florida.  Interested in the NJ Med-Scribe only.  TIA.
SCRIBE
Has anyone worked on the SCRIBE platform?  Seems to be not MT friendly with too much mousing..... ??????
Currently using scribe (sm)
and you do have to use the mouse more so than other platforms I have used. There are some shortcut keys but you have to mouse after entering patient info to start typing the report, which can be annoying. Personally it is my least favorite platform I have used so far, but then again I find it very slow to load between reports as well.
scribe
Is this one in KY or is it another company?
Med-Scribe
Any current or recent Med-Scribers out there?  Curious about the Med-Scribe with ad on board (not sure if Florida or not) - wondered how they are to work for? Pay on time?  Decent to work for?  All info appreciated!
Med-Scribe

I filled out an online application this morning witih Med-scribe and I had time to walk into the kitchen and get a cup of coffee and they called me offering me a job to start to work next week.  Apparently you did not have enough experience in whatever specialty they were needing at the time.  Could not have been nicer on the phone.  So, nice it is a little scary that is why I got on here to see if anybody had anything to say about Med-Scribe before I tell them for sure whether I am going to accept their offer or not.  It could have something to do with I have 30 years experience transcribing also.

MED-SCRIBE JAX
The recruiter offered me a job....led me on...and then did not return my calls promptly....didn't like they way they did business....
Med-Scribe
Can someone tell me if Med-Scribe is mostly straight typing or SR? Thanks in advance!
Med-Scribe
I don't believe they provide equipment. If you visit their website, it will tell you more. Also, check the archives. Good luck!
Med-Scribe
Med-Scribe Florida out of work daily for entire pay period, cannot meet production. I have asked for fourth backup account but no definite yes given. Anyone else notice this ongoing problem over the last year?
Med-Scribe

I am interested in applying to Med-Scribe. I was wondering if there are any current employees or former employees who could tell me their experience good or bad. I currently work for Spheris but I plan on looking at other companies.

Thanks in advance,

Not Scribe
FWIW- MD-IT now uses a proprietary platform.  It looks like they are growing quite a bit.  From their website it looks like they are really trying to preserve the industry.  A former collegue of mine works for them (now) in Seattle- was Pro-Scribe, now MD-IT.
Medscribe or Med-Scribe sm

Has anyone heard of Medscribe or Med-scribe? They both have jobs on MT daily, and I was just wondering if anybody worked for them or knew anything about them?

Thanks!

Anyone familiar with EZ-Scribe? (sm)
Any comments welcome!
Express Scribe

Does anybody know if earphones can be used with Express Scribe?  I can't find any information about this anywhere.  Thanks.

Med-Scribe of Georgia?
Any info, good or bad? TIA!
EXPRESS SCRIBE
had the same problem when I got my new computer. Easiest way is to take it from desktop, and you can drag it into escribe.
Info on Med-Scribe in FL?
I just tested with them and I can't seem to find any info on the boards. Any info would be great. Thanks!
It is funny to run into someone from Med-Scribe here.

You know they never disclose the other MTs to you, so the only Karen I know is in Accounting.  I would love to make the switch to acute care, but the feedback is so limited on how the accounts are to do, and I am not in a place where I can take a pay cut if I would end up in a tough account.

Speaking of, did you take the CPL cut to go from IC to employee or were you hired on as an employee?  Have you heard anything about the new benefit package?  I am also thinking of changing to employee status so I would love some information on that, but the ones in the know are out of the office again.

Anyone work for Med-Scribe
Good or bad please.  Just changed companies and hate it time to shift and go elsewhere again   Really getting tired of the promises these companies make and don't follow through... Any help greatly appreciated
Probably Med-Scribe in Florida. They always have an ad up. nm

Scribe - reply
I worked on it for a very short time because I hated it. Almost any other platform is better than Scribe.
Anyone know anything about Med-Scribe in Utah?

TIA

Med-scribe.com Test

How do you know what your score is, besides a recruiter calling you to let you know you passed?

Can anybody let me know the process?

why is Med-Scribe being slow to pay?
they pay you for doing the work?? I don't understand why they won't pay just like regular payroll.
Do you have Express Scribe......
xx
Trans-Scribe MTs
I saw a job posting for this company but have never heard of them.  If there are any MTs that work for this company, would you please let me know how you like it there?  There's nothing when I do a search on this site.  Thanks!  :)

If anybody's heard of this company or has a history with them, can you post a reply?  I'm wondering how new it is because their website doesn't work yet.
Med-Scribe out of New Jersey --
I'm thinking of responding to an ad from them.
