Do you know what the right of free speech is?
It does not apply to private company matters, etc.

    Geez.

I, too, think free speech is very important! - sm
Although, as the moderator said, I don't base my company application decisions on what any one person says, I DO go back and read archives, compare notes, read between-the-lines, and decide for myself whether the post I read is truthful or not. Even more important is the number of posts on a company. Almost without a doubt, the more that is written about a company, the less likely I would be to apply there, as they obviously have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Also, reading & posting on a forum on the internet is a lot more interesting when you can really say what you need to, and read what others really need to say. If this board were to become so censored and whitewashed that everyone had to walk on eggs and tiptoe around, trying not to offend anyone or alert others to a situation they truly should avoid, then pretty soon there'd be no posters left, except for a very thin-skinned few.

I agree, we all cross the line sometimes, but for the most part, I think this is a fun and interesting board. I've probably learned more about my own profession HERE, than I ever have on my many years (and still counting) on the job.

None of that bothers me, but that's probably because
Surveillance is just the way things are now. Technology always has a downside, and this is one of them. Still, who would want to go back to the days of no Internet, no computers, no ATM cards, no eBay, no debit cards, no pay-at-the-pump gas stations, no Google (and UGH! having to trudge into town to the library every time you need information). The list is endless.

Free enterprise. You are free to re-educate and retrain, as well!!!!
    What's the complaint?!

What bothers me is hiring new MTs

for internet accounts (the ad running) while others who have been there are mostly on dial-up accounts waiting for them to transition I suppose.  That doesn't make sense.  If they are taking on new accounts, give them to the people already working there.

I have to say this is the best company I have ever worked for and I will never leave there but every time I get a second job the work picks up and then when I let the other account(s) go the work slows down so I just can't seem to get on board with them solely or figure out how to balance things.  Other than work slowing down and being low at times (and seemingly cherry picking unbelievably which I've never seen before here honestly but which I am seeing lately - unless it is a system issue with work popping up that wasn't there or getting reports that were seemingly skipped) I still think the company on a whole is heading in an even better direction with the things they are implementing and it is already the best around save for the problems lately.

The only thing that really bothers me - sm
about FN is the direct deposit thing. I really don't want to pay $25/pay period just to get my check on time. I'm having a rough time making my decision.
It's your attitude that bothers me. I have just as much experience as you do and I also
am much in demand, yet I do not happen to carry the attitude you have. This profession has enough prima donnas.
It bothers me because the mistakes I hear about

are stupid mistakes, like typing cereal instead of serial, or misspelling a doctor's name when we have a doctor's list, etc.   This is carelessness that could potentiall cause the account to be lost.  All the ones I've heard about were mistakes I know I wasn't making and it bothers me that I have no control over it and that 1 or 2 people who produce sloppy work jeopardize the account.   I haven't really had a doctor do a correction in an ugly way, but then again I'm not sensitive to them that much because I know I'm not the one doing these.  I'm not saying my work isn't being corrected, just that I have never head a correction dictated that I was guilty of.

I also dislike it when the QA dept. sends out a stern e-mail to the entire company about stupid errors, when I know I wasn't making the errors.

If I'm signing my name to a document I want it perfect so I don't blame the doctors for going over the reports with a fine tooth comb.  The reports are a legal document and could also mean the difference in life or death of a patient if there are errors in the report.

They offshore to India, if that bothers you.

It is true. But, what bothers me is the possibility
that I will again be given the run around in an MT job this year. This would be the third time, and I do not know if I am willing to go through that again! I know taking any job into the unknown is a risk, maybe I am not prepared for any risk at this time in my job. Maybe it is not just the posts here, but the fact that it is a bad time to try again. Bird in hand worth 2 in bush and all that.
What bothers me the most is making total fools out of us to sit and
wait on work.  That really gets to me.  I think we all discussed this before but to expect people to sit around and make no money waiting on work to keep everything on the second is absolutely bizzare and then complain when you dont get lines in.  Well, wheres the work.
I dont answer the mass emails she sends out. What bothers me is we are not anywhere
near out of TAT and she just then sends out these mass emails and everyone piles on and runs the account out.  Then when you get a few more reports she does it again.  It just keeps going on like that.  I have no idea what the problem is.  I dont acknowledge the emails at all I just cant get a grip on why someone would function like that.  It is almost like she isnt happy until she runs the account out and then expect all the ICs which we are to sit around until it comes back in and then be at her beck and call.  It seems to be getting worse and worse lately with this.  She has taken the word control to extremes especially with ICs.  She expects you to let her know if you are going to move your butt of your computer for a half hour.  I just dont get it but it gets extremely old I must say.
I think the public would want to be alerted
that their ss#'s and all other personal information is going to another country! With all the identity theft today, whose to know what is happening over there?

SPI opens BPO centre in Mangalore

Mysore, Feb.20-InSpinity (SPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Software Paradigms International Group LLC, has signed a large contract with MedQuist, the largest provider of Medical Transcription services in the world.

As per the agreement, SPI will provide medical transcription services to Medquist up to two million lines per month within the next six months. To achieve this operationally, SPI will employ and train more than 600 new Medical Transcriptionists (MTs) at its delivery centers in Mysore and Mangalore. At present, SPI employs around 350 MTs.

Headquartered in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, MedQuist Inc transcribes more than two billion lines of text annually.

To augment its ambitious growth plans, Mysore’s IT major SPI is opening new Development/BPO centre in Mangalore by starting operations in incubation center provided by STPI. During first year’s operation, SPI plans to employ around 200 resources in the IT and ITeS field.

Sid Mookerji, CEO & MD of SPI, considers this to be a validation of the aggressive growth and productivity focused strategy adopted by InSpinity.

He said, MedQuist is a very important customer for us and we are pleased to have them on board. We expect to readily deal with MedQuist’s stringent quality and security requirements along with the planned rapid growth thanks to our well established processes and training mechanisms in the Medical Transcription area.”

    V. Madhukar, Vice President – Operations, SPI, addressing a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday, announced the terms of contract between the two companies and future plans about Mangalore expansion.

He said Clinching this large deal in these times of recession is a great morale booster not only for SPI but also for the entire IT industry. SPI is adding to its headcount and wants to increase employee base of our MT division from 350 to 1000 MTs in the next 18 months which in fact is a bigger challenge for us.

In future, SPI plans to provide Medical Transcription services to MedQuist to the tune of 6 million lines per month by 2011. To achieve this target, SPI plans to ramp up its capacity to 1000 medical transcriptionists for Med

They are a public company - they cannot lie about percentages...
If they say 20, it's 20. I have never been without work and I love it there. If you think that most companies out there are not offshoring, you are kidding yourself.

I believe them when they say it will never take the place of domestic MTs. They are growing faster than any company out there - read their financials, all public record.
One thing to inform the public - Another to

come across as stalker/unstable.  As someone who BTDT with an MTSO failing to pay as agreed (but did in fact pay late), I can appreciate a fair warning about a company.  I do disagree when the warning stops being fair and starts coming across as the poster having some personal issues that this board cannot cure.

In my situation, I read this board about an MTSO who failed to pay - posted by one person who seemed to be fair in the posting.  I still took a position with the MTSO.  There was incredible disorganization with the owner and my pay was late.  I let them know that I could not invest more of my skills until the pay was rec'd.  They got it to me and I returned their equipment.  The warning had me prepared not to lose my shirt, but did not keep me from giving the MTSO a fair shot.  I have seen that MTSO move into a more trustworthy category than when I had my experience with them and would even like to think I had something to do with that.  However, I do not feel that would have happened if I had come across in a fanatical manner or if I had in fact done anything but acted in a way I could be proud of.

Just saying, I don't see that happening with this poster about this particular MTSO and this particular situation.  Just saying, is all, that if an MT wants others to give fair consideration to an allegation, that MT has the responsibility of behaving in a way that would keep people listen and giving credence to the facts.  People stop listening when the postings become unbalanced and start projecting that perception towards the original poster.  Just saying, is all.  Good luck with whatever the OP decides, but I hope that poster finds some balance in his/her life.

Free sure. There are free on-line fax

There's an old saying in life, justme- a wanna-be public defender...
it's better to be silent and be thought of as an idiot, than to speak and remove all doubt. Now, you removed all doubt....
If your facts are true, make them public. You've nothing to lose and everything to gain.
How can you be putting your head on the chopping block when you are anonymous here?

Details have not been given in your posts. Please show us ALL the details.

Why would you be putting your head on the block by pointing out supposed anomalies in the raise structure?
Any recruiter can give out that information because it's the same for everyone. Any MLS can go to the website and see it. I have it here in front of me. I would like to see you defend your statements, because I'm not seeing the proof here.

Why would you be putting your head on the block regarding incentives?
Any recruiter can give out that information, if it exists. That information also can be seen in the job boards and on the website, as it's public knowledge. I sure don't see any out there, nor have I for months.

Why would you be putting your head on the block regarding enticements?
You say they are readily viewed on job boards, but yet you can't give details. Any recruiter can give that information, too, as they post the ads on the boards. They can also be seen on the website. However, looking back over a lot of weeks of posts on various boards, I don't see one "enticement," so we're going to need YOU to point them out to us.

If the enticement is the pay structure, then you're benefitting the same as everyone else. If the enticement is the ads, well, you get the same opportunity for shift differentials, the same CMT pay, the same benefits, the same production incentives, don't you? What don't you get that you deserve?

Also in regard to enticements, I've got to ask for clarification on a statement you made:

"...look at past and future ads on MT Jobs, etc."

Do you have details on what the company is offering in the future? If so, let us all in on it so people who don't work at Transcend know what to wait for.

Finally, no one should need to email you, because all of YOUR information should be made public IF IT EXISTS, and you shouldn't fear making it public, IF IT'S TRUE. Having people email simply allows you to privately promote your version without having to publically defend the truth of of your claims.

If you can't back up your claims, then please concentrate on making the best out of your own situation, okay? It's not right to make statements that can't be supported with facts. It doesn't help the company and it doesn't help you. If you're a loyal employee you should be trying to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Maybe you could offer your assistance on the quality council.

What are the advantages to going to speech recognition?  It it cumbersome to work without the foot pedal.  What about switching back and forth?

Can you say what VR system you use? I have used Dictaphone and love it and MQs ASR and lose so much time and money with that.
    Speech
Am curious.  If speech is supposted to save the clients money, who takes the hit?  The MTs?  What are companies paying MTs for speech recognition?  Are there any very productive text transcriptionists out there who have switched to speech and made more on speech?  MT replies only, please.  Thanks!
    TT speech
Is that because of the speech program?  What is the approximate percentage of speech/regular transcription that you do?  I hope I don't end up with all speech.  It would bore me to death.
    TT Speech
Has anybody who started speech with TT in the last 2 weeks seen any increase in their speed/line count.  Just getting my bill ready to send tonight, and it is not pretty.  I did start to get faster as the days went on, but don't think I am going to get a heck of a lot faster, but I guess the workload hasn't helped much either.
