QA vs. transcription

I have done QA for about 4 years and left the company, and I would like to do transcription, but I only type about 55-60 words a minute. Should I try different companies to see if they will hire me. And will speed come? I have enough medical terminology, but it's the speed I'm concerned about.

Webinar -Evolving Medical Transcription: Technology's impact on traditional transcription process
Hey everyone, check out this link. This is what we are up against. Be sure and note how 3M or whoever is the sponsor of this webinar throws in that dictation and transcription is time-consuming. Nevermind that EMR and VR take more time and money to be successful and it only takes 38 seconds to dictate a returning patient and 2 minutes to dictate a new patient versus 500 clicks on a point and click EMR or the mess VR makes and having to have an Editor come in and clean up the mess. Propaganda that we should know about.

I am looking for a new home and have applied and accepted by one of these companies. Hoping to hear from the other very soon. Can anyone tell me the good/bad of these 2 companies. Soap is out of Michigan and US Transcription is out of Iowa.
Thanks in adance for your help/support.
Do you mean TMT Transcription or Tidewater Medical Transcription sm
known as TMT. Their tactics are to look for you so it sounds like them.
TRS Transcription (Transcription Relief Services)
Please let me know if you work for this company and what you think of them. I am testing right now and hope they are a good company! :)
Chase transcription/USA transcription
Does anyone work as an indepedent contractor for either of these companies? If so, could you tell me a little bit about them.
Don't confuse CC Transcription with C&C Transcription
Please don't confuse CC Transcription with C&C Transcription, they are two totally separate companies. Also C&C Transcription does NOT offer direct deposit.
Can anyone tell me anything about D&L Transcription?? Just wondering and curious.... THANKS!
TM Transcription - sm
Anyone ever work for TM Transcription? I think it is Transcription Mommies which is kind of scary but I'm looking for a smaller co.
I started last week working for them. I was promised my main account would be radiology. Of course, lied to again. They have ME on five accounts. I have only done VA. The instructions for the account are absolutely ridiculous. Who has time to review 18 pages of dialogue for an account??? Then some have templates, and VA you have to fill in headers and footers, and use periods in MD and other stupid stuff. Then you have to do a monthly schedule, and I have had nothing but trouble with that. I sent it as an attachment, as required, but it is not the "right" format. I am supposed to have tech support fix my email, and the account manager is snooty as heck. I am literally shaking I am so frustrated and angry with this place. I took a chance and re-contacted my job I just resigned from, and I got my job back. eTransPlus is a great place. I highly recommend applying there.
QA vs. transcription
As you probably already know, quality is much more important than speed in transcription. Just keep plugging away with quality as your #1 goal, and the speed will come with practice. Also, I suggest trying one of those typing test websites to work on your speed. Good luck!
Is there anybody out there that would be willing to mentor an MT. I try to find MT friends but have no luck, as nobody wants to give me their name. I like these boards but sometimes I need longer explanations about things. I was just wondering if there was a group or something or individuals who do that.
help with ICD-9 transcription
can anyone tell me--what is the proper style of typing the ICD-9 or CPT code when it is dicatated on a chart? Thanks!!
Ever hear of TM Transcription?
I do transcription

Key Transcription, anyone?
They have an ad on the job board for oncology MTs, but they require up to 2000 lines a day.....seems a bit much to me. Anyone know anything about this company? Thanks!
A to Z Transcription
Does anyone have any information on A to Z Transcription Services? I can't seem to find anything. Thanks.
Anyone heard of this company?
What is the status of this company? Have they gone under yet? I hear they are losing accounts left and right, just curious if any one is left working for them.
Actually it is SW Transcription....nm
Transcription at Its Best
... does anybody have any info on this company. I work for a psychiatric hospital and am considering working at home. I saw their ad in MT jobs but can't find anything in archives. Please help. Thanks.
I did work for PJ for months and you might as well go back to school, cause at least then you dont expect pay, with PJ you wont get paid either. I did give notice and never recieved anything except experience. good luck
All is works for as we speak. Your right, there is no excuse for it, and others will get caught in it too which is a shame to take advantage of new MTs.
I have nothing to gain from this posting. This business owner has already stolen over $500 from me and I will have to fight to get it back -- might get ugly. I do not take pleasure in demoralizing anyone. Just don't want it to happen to anyone else -- so here we go....word of mouth. By the way, congratulations on your business ownership -- it's quite an accompliment to run an honest, productive business.
Does this company have radiology and urology? If this is the one I am thinking of, I was going to start working for them, but then the girl training me admitted that she didn't like certain reports or dictators and would skip them - that was all I needed to hear - of course that is what would be left for me to do - the crap work - and I have done all of that kind of work for most of the past 15 years - and I am tired of it - ESLs, long reports for little pay, etc. If you have the names of someone with the company - I would be happy to confirm if this is one in the same.
I tried this address and it says not found.
Anyone have any info on Professional Dictation Association, out of Ohio? Thanks.
Yes, worked for them. Good pay, on time, lots of work.
Anyone know anything about ABC Transcription? nm
in Dubuque IA and it looks like Madison Wi. Anybody know anything current about them? Only stuff I can find is pretty old. I'm thinking of applying there because of lack of work where I am.
DOes anyone know anything about MAG TRanscription
There is a TON of work. The people are very nice to work for. Very happy there.
QA not transcription
She's talking about QA for $4000.00 a month at 1.5 cents a line, not transcription.
Is anyone employed by this company or know of someone who is? Is it the real deal?
VR and Transcription
Can anyone recommend a good company where I can perform both voice recognition and transcription? Thank You
Perhaps you are confusing C&C Transcription with CC Transcription - there are a couple of C&C's in Florida - C&C Transcription in Orlando, has not contracted anyone new in over a year. Any and all correspondence with them would have relayed this message. They have had a freeze on all new IC's -C&C is still doing medical transcription and has been for over 14 years but has now branched off into DVDs, CDs, VHS, anykind of tape and any and all forms of convention and business dictation.
They are real because my company that I work for deals with them.
However, I have tried writing to them on there website and have never gotten a reply. Perhaps it doesn't work?!
US Transcription sm
I haven't worked there, but I've seen the work that comes from there. It's for crap. Seriously. I wonder if they hire mostly all new MT grads; which is fine, grads have to start somewhere. But I can't say much for their QA program then. I know they have some experienced people working for them, but most of the work I've seen is slop. I wouldn't work for them.
Has anybody worked for this company? Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.
I am starting to get that impression also. I realized that they never asked me for my information (i.e., SS#, etc.). Also, every time I e-mail them a question, I never get an answer back. Strange company. I think I am going to have second thoughts with this one. Thanks for your input.
I have not been able to find anything on this company. I don't recall submitting my resume to them (but I sent out a lot of them so it is possible). Thanks!
Has anyone ever worked for this co or know anything about them?
Anyone heard of KMM Transcription in Missouri? How are they to work for? Thanks for any info.
Anyone know anything about T-C Transcription, good and bad please?
Anybody know anything about them?
Does anybody know anything about Lee Transcription?
Hi! Can someone please provide some insight as to VA transcription? Is there much of a difference between VA and clinic? Any iinfo appreciated.
I have done VA in the past. There are still clinic and inpatient reports, just like with any client. The VA tends to have tons of different doctors, and a LOT of ESL when I was doing it. But, having said that, the VA system has had an overhaul with a main database-type system where all records are in the same system regardless of state, which is great for the patient. In my experience though, I have to say I saw reports that shouldn't have passed QA but did, so I hope companies who take them on today will have better QA for those patient reports. I had a company (15 years ago) that didn't seem to care about the report, just how many lines were done for that day.
