Rather than worrying about notice here, if my house payment

were in jeopardy, I'd hightail it to another position ASAP. Then, I would not put this company on my resume, and if you were there for a short time, just say you took time off for a brief period to research jobs. To me, my bread and butter need not be played with. And the creditors think that even more. Good luck to you, but whatever you do, remember it is not you, it is there are more cheesy MTSOs in this business than not.

Yes I have been paid. Payment has definitely not been a problem. I received payment on the 19th. nm

Tying payment to their payment is fine
if they tell you that up front. Once bitten, twice shy.
worrying does not change anything
Two hospitals that I worked at..rumor was they were going to oursource.  We were told no way, dont worry about your jobs.  One hospital was reassuring us on Monday, Thursday we had a meeting and were told we were let go, pick up our purses and leave.  The other hospital was reassuring us in the morning and by 11am we were called down to Human Resources and let go.  Corporate is not gonna tell us what they are deciding as they dont want to scare the transcriptionists away and then they wouldnt have transcriptionists.  Plus the management are only workers like us.  Whatever they know, if they tell, they will lose their jobs.  Corporate looks out for making a profit for their stock holders.  I have heard the rumors about MQ also, some from office workers themselves.  If you are a good transcriptionist, dont worry.  MQ isnt gonna get rid of the transcriptionists.  It is the offices they are merging.  The transcriptionists will just have to call in to a different office.  Also, there are many transcription companies out there.  Nothing you can do about corporate decisions.  If you worry so much, you will make yourself sick. Used to be when I first started working, there was loyalty between employer and employee.  That isnt how the American workplace is any more.  Just remember, transcriptionists are in demand.  You will do fine.
Do you work in-house here? I applied last August & was told in-house only and they weren't

Notice is a courtesy, not a rule and they don't give you notice when they fire you
Giving a 2-week notice is common courtesy, and in most all my jobs, I have given them that courtesy; however, a company never gives someone notice when they are firing them. In my opinion, if a company does not treat their employees right, they do not deserve to get any notice at all.

As a matter of fact, I just left a company without notice. I felt horrible about doing it to my team but not to the company. While they never messed up on my pay, I was under constant stress. They treated several other people horribly and also changed all the terms of my employment contract within months of hiring me, which was going to cost me $800 a paycheck. I am the major breadwinner for a family of five and couldn't hang around a second longer losing that kind of money.

The only reason you would not want to quit without notice is if you want to use them as a reference and/or want the chance to go back to them in the future. I was advised by a recruiter that you should never put anything on your resume that is less than a year, so you really don't want to use them as a reference anyway, and you certainly don't want to go back to them.

Messing with someone's money is a big NO-NO, especially when they are costing you $400 for a second time. Heck no, I wouldn't give these people notice. There are some great companies out there hiring right now.

Feel free to contact me by email if you would like some more detailed information about the companies I narrowed my search down to. I was very sceptical about trusting another company with the bad luck I've had (just as you have) in the last few years, but I think I finally found somewhere I can be happy at for a long, long time (of course only time will tell, but I'm feeling very optimistic).

:) Best of luck to you!
payment
They still have not paid me although Sonja Sacoleman made a promise on contacting me for payment but up to now... still nothing!
Alliance Payment Anyone??
Anyone receive payment recently from Alliance?  Waiting for over a month.  Told they pay weekly when hired.  TIA
eScription Payment
Yes, when you become accustomed to editing, you can generally edit at a rate of 400 to 700 lines per hour. It usually takes about a month or two to get used to the editing process. It is important that you learn the eScription shortcuts in the beginning, so that you don't get bad habits. In particular, ALT-K is very important to learn.

Ascend Payment
I am working for Ascend now for three uears. They have a policy of each 15 day pay period paid 15 days after the period is closed. If the disbursement date is on week end it will get delayed. I never had an issue and I average about $0.12 per line.

There are folks who do not complete their paperwork or do not submit their production data on time do get their pay delayed.

Ascend also gave me a loan last year and subtracted agreed upon installment from my earned wages.

I like working for them. Plenty of work, good pay.
Yes, I received my payment
Yes, I have received my payment as promised.
Never payment issues
with TransTech...never.
Payment at DeVenture
I have been working for them for over a year and have never had a late payment.
Demand for payment
Send her a demand for payment letter with 10 days to pay you. Send it certified with return receipt. State that further action will be taken if payment is not received by you in 10 days, and add that interest will begin to accrue on the balance. In the meantime, see if you can find other MTs who are owed money by this same person. If it's only you, they know you won't take the trouble to travel to their state to file in small claims court. If you have several people, you can file a class action suit in federal court. That's what worked for me a few years ago with a company in California.
No payment from MTSO

I was hired my a MTSO without asking for my social security number or driver's license.  I did not sign an IC agreement or HIPPA paperwork.  She only verbally told me what I was and verbally did not want any contracts signed. I was told I was a subcontractor, but I refuse to work anymore for her.  She is now telling me she cannot cut me a check without having my SS#.  I am telling her cut my check and then we can make arrangements for her to pick up her computer.  Who is right?  I have no gurantee that she is going to pay me and why ask for my SS number now?

There were payment issues with them in the past. Don't know about now. nm

But weren't there payment issues??

WRONG! Their payment policy is (sm)
Pay periods run from 1-15th, and 16-30 or 31st of each month. Payment is twice monthly. PLEASE NOTE: For example; If you begin your employment with them today, July 20, you would work from July 20 to 31st (that's 12 days). You THEN add the 30 days, meaning you will be paid after having worked 41 days. If you're going to make a post regarding a subject matter as paramount such as this, make ***** sure it is accurate. I am reporting your post under the guidelines of being defamatory.

There have been payment problems with them. Hayseed
used to work for them but quit.  Don't know if she has posted any of that here or just on another board.
I would send a demand for payment
that you have that as proof.  Give them x amount of days to pay up or you will take further legal action.  Also make note in the letter of the disconnected telephone number.  Then you'd need to file a complaint for the money due.
Payment of taxes question
You don't have to wait and pay your estimated taxes quarterly? I thought it had to be done that way. Please let me know. Thanks.

Should you keep working as an IC when you haven't received payment from last month?
I am working as an IC and still have not received payment from last month.  I also had to pay $75 deposit for their software.  My MTSO recieved my invoice from last month and nothing.  They just keep sending me work and I am still being nice.  My sister said no money, no work and do not do the work until I get my check.  Is she right?  My MTSO has recieved my invoice and let me know they have it.  Any suggestions?
Comments from last year said they were very unorganized and had payment issues. nm

Digital Dictation Services - MARY GLEASON, Stiff on Payment, BEWARE
This is a sole proprietor, who will let you try out for a couple weeks, and then stiff on payment.  She is all nicey nice in the beginning but look out, she will rip you off big time. Do not work for unless you like working for nothing.
Then get an in-house job so there are no
your current position.
In house?

Just curious if that had at-home transcriptionists.  Sorry, I dont know about their testing, but I had thought about applying there before also, so will watch this thread.

In-house
Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I would love to get back into a hospital.
In-house only. sm
They listed the opening on MTjobs.com. Check there for info.
In-House
Yesss...and that is one of the reasons hospitals began outsourcing..
That's in-house only. Tried that already... nm

If you are in house, and they are (sm)
having trouble with the home people now, chances are excellent they will continue to have the problems when you go home until they get someone out to fix it.  If all the home MT's are having trouble, then the clinic needs to get someone in to fix it.  Maybe you might have more to say about that while you're there.  Once you go home, you're stuck like everyone else.
im a in-house MT, BUT
I might sound sneaky and dishonest, but I really think that whether you're an IC or employee, they have no say. Unless it's in the contract. But then again, I really don't think they can find out. I also work for a private office consisting of 4 docs who also dictate for the hospital. That friend whom I mentioned who used to work for a vendor AND our hospitals--she now has her own business and I work under her also as an IC in the clinic setting. Our boss doesn't know this because the 4 docs I type for also dictate for 1 of our hospitals. I fear the conflict interest issue. I make $22 by the actual hour plus incentive for the hospital, but as a single parent, I need more than that. I really don't know if I could get in trouble because during my IC shift, I'm not typing for the hospital.

Good luck, I know where you're coming from as far as really wanting just 1 job but needing to live, pay bills, and eat.
in-house
I left MQ after 20+ years to go in-house. I assumed I'd take a pay cut, but because of all the changes at MQ and constant lowering of pay, I decided I'd trade the money for some security. I was totally surprised that because of my experience, I started at more than $20.00 an hour, plus shift/weekend/holiday differentials and great benefits. I did have to change my schedule slightly (working afternoons/evenings) but again the differential comes into play so made it worthwhile. Only work 1 weekend a month, no holidays (unless I want to) and the pay is hourly, no production, no worries about NJA. The future of making a living with the MTSOs seems to be more and more uncertain so in your shoes, I'd definitely look into going back in-house. Also my employer now sends their MTs home to work after training and I think a lot of other hospitals are looking at doing the same thing. I know it will be an adjustment for you not working at home, but I've never regretted it for a moment.
in-house MT now
Four months ago, I started work for a local hospital and couldn't be happier. I've been a Transcriptionist for 33 years, and this job has been a God-send. No stress, no minimum line counts, paid hourly (excellent pay) exceptional benefits, low cost health care. I had been an at-home transcriptionist for 10 years, and the work had decreased to the point that my last pay check was only $500.00 for a two week period. I was facing foreclosure on my home. On my interview, the director informed me that they had an outside company, but decided to bring transcription back in-house to be more cost effective for the department.
I notice you are on here a lot and I know
for a fact that Spheris does not want its employees to participate on these boards, especially with their equipment. Is that what you are doing?
MQ Notice

My Story:  When I quit MQ a couple of years ago (and I had been employed by MQ for a few years with an account that requested me personally), I was kind enough to give 2 weeks notice and offer training/assistance to another MT to take over my account to ease the transition for the client and MQ.

I was informed that my 2 weeks were not necessary and I was done.  They took me out of the system so I could not get in to work even 1 more day.  They do not care who you are or what you have done for them, your outta there.

notice
BTW, absolutely no correspondence from them since that time. Was FT employee, their computer, still have it with no word on what to do with it!!
I did notice that too.
I wonder why more do not post here about it. I searched the archives and found only a few posts about them.
Anyone else notice..
The job posted on job seeker's..whose pay range was from 4 cpl to 8 cpl depending on experience?? Seriously, if your newbie, do you really think you could eat on 4 cpl..and I thought VR at that pay rate was rough..straight typing at 4 cpl..Wow..glad to see cost of living keeps going on up but wages go down. I think I'm insulted.. LOL
Did you notice
their wonderful command of the English language? Get real!!
Since it was w/o notice
She is supposedly still working here, wonder what she is doing now. Wonder if she is typing now.
