You have an excellent point. Somewhere along the line America stopped investing in itself. Our education is sliding fast, we outsource everything, everything we buy is from a third world country (soon to be not so third world), and it feels to me that we are becoming just a shell. It feels like our guts have been scooped out of our country.

We are all to share some responsibility here. We are a nation of consumerism. Yep, our economy is based on that and now we are between a rock and a hard place. Our society is one of quick fixes, instant gratification, give me, give me, give me. Ever wonder if we stopped shopping so much, getting so much and changed our mind set what effect we would have on corporations that exist because of our voluntarily cutting back on buying?

I certainly don't have answers, just observations. This year my focus will be on inner tranquility, more reading, more outdoor activities and less on theater, renting movies, less going out to eat, less buying.
