Same thing happened at TT the year before in October, too.

Posted By: You better pass on TransTech if you don't like on 2008-10-13
In Reply to: 20 acute care MTs wanted now - What the?

For those of us left with TT for 2 year, there is hardly ever sufficient work to work your negotiated shift.  Always asked to flex and move right into the weekends to get enough lines, if possible to even on weekends for everyone trying.

Same thing happened to me last year and when it picked up, it was crazy sm
For the rest of the year.
Actually, my hire date was October 9 last year
but since it was my first new job in almost 28 years, it was a BIG thing. I left the old job because my beloved boss closed down his practice to join another one, and the other group declined to hire me. Their loss. I was hired by a medium-sized national that just got acquired by a large national. We're 1 month into the new regime (so if we want to get technical, I actually have started a new job in the last 30 days) and the only thing that has really changed so far is the pay period is now twice a month instead of every 2 weeks. I still work the same shift, the same accounts, the same pay rates, the same supervisors and QA people, the same platform, everything.

There's been some grumbling on this board about the new company and how they lure you in with big promises and then you always seem to run out of work, coincidentally just before you achieve the gross pay required per period to be considered full time and thus eligible for benefits. Of course I can only speak for myself, but I haven't seen any such thing, and the only times I have run out of work (briefly) have been on or around holidays. If the work is coming in slowly at any other time, our people actually call the clients and ask them what's going on. (And then they send out e-mails to let us know what's happening.) I work a 32-hour week (by my choice) but probably at least 9 days out of 10, there is enough work that I could work a full 8 hours if I wanted to. (And this pay period I came in at 25 percent over the gross minimum--and I know for a fact my own pay rate is actually on the lower end of the scale, so reaching that minimum is NOT exactly difficult. At least not for me.)

We don't get a lot of extraneous e-mails, only necessary announcements and requests, and we're all on IM so we can always find somebody to help if we have a question. We are also not only encouraged but strongly urged to send ANYTHING doubtful to QA, even if we have to leave 100 blanks in a report. They'd rather have a QA blank than a guess. And QA has NEVER gotten the least bit snarky with me; even when it's been a real duh! mistake on my part, the worst I might get is a smiley face with a gently-worded note pointing out the error.

I have a co-worker who was hired the same day I was, on the same account. She has a neighbor who works for the company that just acquired us, and LOVES it; in fact, she was encouraging my co-worker to jump ship and c'mon over, until we all found out we were all comin' on over anyway, as of April 1.
No, they built a new one last year and moved into it in October or November. sm
I think they have a really big office now, from what I heard.

Same thing in October, then accounts went to voice recognition,

causing low work situations at times.  They push those jobs through VR and Exspeech rapidly and I found Exspeech to be one of the worst editing platforms I had ever used.

Hopefully, TT will pick up accounts in order to keep all those 25+ MT's they are advertising for busy -- because the jobs on these new accounts go through VR at a rapid rate, and regular transcribing disappears in a hurry.  If these 25+ MT's don't like Exspeech method of editing, then you will most likely end up with lack of work very soon.  It happened with the *big hiring spree* back in October last year !  The mass hiring of MT's are used to *train* dictators for Exspeech.   The pay reduction is at the rate of 50% less for editing.

I suppose most companies in this business are going in that direction now to make larger profits.

You are not alone. This has happened to me this year.
Matter of fact, got so ignored job seemed to fall through on 2 occasions, never got correct set up date, etc. Probably sales force (recruiters) way ahead of labor needs. Good luck to you!
This happened to me in January of this year... SM

You have every right to feel paranoid and betrayed.  That is exactly how I felt.  My employer, knew well in advance that they were going to outsource the entire department and yet our supervisor told us in a meeting that they were looking at outside services for overflow work only and that we should not be worried, our jobs were safe.

I was worried and said as much to the other MTs at the Christmas party.  Some agreed with me, but others said there was no way this hospital would even consider outsourcing transcription.  The doctors would hate it and complain.

Next thing you know, we get an email saying in lieu of our quarterly department meeting, we were going to be scheduled for one on one meetings with the boss.  The first person went in and came back home, emailed us and said guess what, we're fired.  It was horrible, horrible, horrible!  I know that management knew months before that this was in the works.  They knew at our last meeting when they looked us in the eyes and told us not to worry.

They acted like we should be grateful that the service that had decided to go with was offering us all jobs.  We went from hourly with incentive and excellent benefits to per line, crappy benefits, and facing the possibility of working on other accounts because ours kept running out which meant low production which meant a pay cut.

I refused to go with the service.  Maybe I'm too prideful or too bitter, but I couldn't do it, especially since the service they went with offshores.  So I channeled my bitterness into making it known to the community that their beloved community hospital was now offshoring medical info to India.  I wrote letters to all the local papers, had an interview with a local reporter, and put the hospital administrator on the hot seat for a while because he kept having to talk to the papers telling them he requested his hospital's work not be offshored.

They will not soon forget me and that helped me get over it.  Now, I'm working as an Editor and love it.  I've moved on, but as you can see, I still have bad memories.

You have every right to feel the way you do and you should be very cautious whatever you decide.  I will never be lured into a false sense of security ever again.  I have come to realize there is no job security in transcription anymore.

Hope everything works out for you!

Same thing just happened to me.
I worked for another company. This industry can be so security conscious at the wrong times when so much of our personal information is shipped overseas. I guess giving a notice is not possible in some cases. I know you were trying to do the right thing. So was I. Oh well, we tried. That's how I look at it. Have a good one.:)
The same thing happened to me. I would
look elsewhere for a job now.
Same thing happened to me - but don't
When I wasn't even thinking about it any longer, I received a somewhat apologetic phone call. The recruiter in question is, I believe, inundated - not her fault, I think. If you can, you might want to wait a bit, though I understand your frustration. I think she's really trying to get back to everyone. JMO. Good luck.
The same thing happened to me..
I was hired by someone last year (can't remember the name right now) who still posts ads for MTs on MTStars.  She got all my information, but whenever I went into the platform, there was never any work in there or should I say 2 or 3 jobs.  Of course, I wouldn't even bother to type with 2 jobs in the queue, but when I would go back in and check later that day or a few days later, the same 2 or 3 jobs would still be in the queue.  I was then told my the owner that the acct broke their contract and there would be no more work from them and never heard from her again.  Makes you wonder!!
Same thing happened to me -
Once established in my new job, I told the manager I found another position that was keeping me busy full time.  I didn't give notice and never put them on my resume.  If you've only been there 6 weeks, there should be no problem.  Good Luck!
Same thing happened to me...
I have almost 20 years' experience, most of it working at a hospital, and they didn't call me back either for weeks. I ended up calling the recruiter when they posted yet another round of ads on the board and asked about my previous application and test. She said it was probably a technical glitch. Well, to make a long story short, I got hired, stayed for 6 months, but ended up leaving because there was such a lack of work. I was logging in at all hours of the day to find work. Great people, platform and benefits though...just couldn't make a decent paycheck.
same thing happened to me.
I posted a reply about the awful way the QA and management treated their employees.  (this company had their own forum) all people that posted a reply to the original post was let go the next week.  all though these forums are supposed to be incognito, you still have to give out info to sign up.  that is how they know who you are,
same thing happened
when Microsoft went to XP. You just have to wait it out.
Same thing happened to me.
That is why I quit Amphion. There was too much mandatory overtime as well as out of work and had to flex my time to make up the work. I have kids too. They never really cared what kind of schedule I kept, just that I typed. It never ends, and you can't get out of it unless you are bleeding to death or something like that. I finally got sick of it and moved on. One of many gripes about Amphion.
Same thing happened to me

I worked for them a few years ago and had a terrible time understanding what the techs were saying.  About two months after I quit I got a phone call early one Saturday morning and it was a tech from India asking me if I was having problems connecting to their system (as others were also having this problem).  I said (as nice as possible) that I was not having problems, that I had deleted their software from my computer and did not work there any longer. He still did not get it...

So you're not typing?

No.  I have not worked for your company for two months....I quit.

So your internet connection is okay?

Yes.

So you're not ever going to get on the system again?

I mean....OMG....working with foreign techs is SO frustrating!

The same thing just happened to me...sm
All of a sudden, the headers/footers are not counted nor paid for, whereas it had been in the past 5 years. It is at least 6 lines less per report which averages, for me, about $150 less per week if not more.

I noticed it a few weeks ago. If ES is not counting it, the hospital is not paying for it, thus, we are not paid for it.

Honestly, I understand that; however, I do not understand why no one would be up front about it and just let us know the line count will change or has changed. They wait and see and hope nobody will notice, I guess. That really got my goat!!

I could accept the change better it they were honest about it and just let me know, rather than me finding it and getting a quick, short answer...like how dare I ask!!!!

In business, honesty is the best policy; however, it is so difficult and such a struggle to find honest people with honest business practices!!
Same thing happened to me - sm
Yammered on and on about needing some ASAP and e-mailed back and forth for at least a week but always had an excuse as to why things weren't up and running yet and never got to the test part, thank goodness.  Seemed like a huge red flag and I ran away from this place in a hurry.  Very, very strange.  Always seemed to be some sort of problem occurring.
same thing happened to me...

This has happened to me with another company.  I think sometimes they are overhiring or they lose the account.  That is what happened in my case, but they never called to tell me that.  I had to call them.  Pretty ironic that I just got an email from DeVenture, that someone has recommended my name to them.  Their benefits look better than what I have, since I do not have a 401K, but I love the company I am with and have great accounts already.  I think I better stay where I am right now.

Same thing happened to me
All most 3 weeks ago, I accepted a position with a company that promised me a start date, but had no login IDs when it was time to start.  The following week when I received a login ID, they were not activated.  So, now it is going on 3 weeks and they are unable to show me my line count on the system and said they were working on it.  Finally got going good on the account and the work started drying up,and I was told it was because the hospital was only releasing one worktype at a time.  I gave them my word when I started that I would adhere to their schedule, which included one weekend day, I was prepared to start, dealt with their many delays, and now no work.  I have accepted another job and even though the dictators are good, I spell more trouble and I am moving on.  If by chance, this new gig is not up to par, I guess I have to keep going until I find the right fit.  At this current time, I am looking to get out of this business.
Same thing happened to me
then heard nothing at all from them!  Very frustrating for us transcriptionists and very rude!
The same thing has happened to me..sm
I've applied twice AND tested! I have 20+ years of experience and haven't heard a word. :(
Same thing happened to me with different

Same thing happened to me
As soon as I saw their ad, I immediately sent my resume (I also have many years of hem/onc experience) but to no avail, they haven't contacted me either.  I sent my resume to them not too long ago from an ad on here and didn't hear from them then either!  Maybe that's a sign and I should just keep looking if they are this rude to everyone!
the same thing happened to me. sm
I had 35 years experience but had not worked in just over two years. They tested, I passed, they interviewed and then decided since I hadn't worked for two years they didn't want me. Big waste of my time. After a couple of those scenarios I started asking and making sure they knew this before I tested.

Some companies will bypass that 2 year requirement if you have many years experience and other companies don't even say anything about two years.

There are companies out there that will hire you, hang in there! You don't want to work for the ones that did this to you anyway!
Same thing happened to me.
I quickly returned the questionnaire and then nothing. That was last week. I understand people get busy but they could even set up an auto-reply, We have received your information and will get back to you when we have a chance to review it as we have had many applicants etc.. but when you hear nothing, it totally burns me out and I would probably not respond if I ever did hear back. It gives me too much of a disorganization taste in my mouth.
Same thing happened to me.
I sat here and waited and he never called.  Then he called 2 weeks later, but I had already taken a position, so I never returned his call.
About 2 months ago, the same thing happened to me.
I needed a core Codecs file located in Windows XP as the one I had was corrupt. You can get the codecs off of your Windows CD.

No audio device will work until you download the Codecs file you need.

Note: This may happen once in a while as files get corrupt from time to time.

Hope that helps.
Same thing happened to me, but it's been years.nm

Yes!! The exact same thing happened to me when
my family and I first moved to our town. I took my daughter to the dr and he had the same thing. I was absolutely stunned. Even I had to admit how great it was!
The exact same thing happened -
to me.  Please email me.  I wonder if it is the same company.
Same thing happened to me, and when I kept calling
hired me went on vacation for 3 weeks. Ridiculous. I had to move on and get work with someone else. Cannot waste time waiting around for people like this - how long will you wait around when you have a problem. Nope ... move on.
The exact same thing happened to me
??
this exact thing happened to me...
but the name of the company was different.  Very inconsistent with pay....then finally no pay and being blasted for too many corrections.  This company also had two people involved.  The name of the company I worked for was GK Transcription and they were in Michigan.
OMG! The exact thing happened to me!
I've never had a QA score below 98%, have typed radiology for 4 years, and I also got a score of 88% with an email saying I didn't meet their standards. I can tell you, I was HIGHLY offended! I don't think they're grading their test correctly, and I almost sent an email telling them that but then got 2 job offers from other, better companies. Life has a way of working out perfectly!
Same thing happened to me about 3-4 years ago
Company ended up filing bankruptcy so no one got paid
Same thing happened to me 2 months ago.
they suck bad

LOTS of favoritism and other unmentionables.
Ditto, same thing happened to me
what a disappointment.
goodness, same thing happened to me.
I still wasn't set up after 3 weeks, and something they put in there (or did in there) caused problems I could not get rid of...I had to unload completely and reload my whole computer.

p.s. they are global, mostly outside this country.

RUN, DON'T LOOK BACK
Same exact thing happened to me - sm
Lady VERY scattered and very unorganized.  I didn't pursue; I was afraid to!
Same thing happened to me just today
and I turned down the job offered because of it. There is no reason in the world that I can see for a company to require that from a home-based MT. Besides, it isn't any of their business to say the least.
Same thing happened to me. I gave up.
I took the test and know I passed it. But I never heard from them. I had sent my resume several times, and got a response last year to take the test. I finally took the test, I know I did well. I followed up with the e mail from last year even, and still no response. Again e mailed with resume, no response. Figured it was me. I have over 20 years' experience, and really thought I'd do well with this company. Sounds just right. Every time I see the ad, I always wish they would e mail me again. Sorry I missed out on when they did contact me. DOn't feel like a stalker, or if you do you are not alone. I am always disappointed I missed out on this one. Good luck, hope you get some response.
Exact same thing happened to me.
I passed their testing, but the interview made me uncomfortable as well.  They offered 0.075.  I said I would not work for less than 0.09.  She said she would get back to me.  About a week later, I received the same email you did.  At this point, I would not work for them at any price. Their tactics stinks.  If the compensation I asked for was too high, why not just say so?
Same thing happened to me and after alot of
investigation and time on the phone with the labor dept and visiting various attorneys - YOU DON'T HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON.  Legally companies can do that.  They DO NOT have to pay you overtime - that's why some people are salaried!
The same exact thing happened with us
All inhouse and within a 2-3 period VR was spewing forth excellent results, I was amazed, thought I had plenty of time to stay on straight because thought I would fail at this. Now with all that do on this with outsourcing, VR is just a hot mess sometimes.
Same thing happened to me. Distrustful Company
d
the drug thing happened with Kforce too
a couple of travelers that I personally knew were transporting drugs through rental cars, i.e. leaving one state and driving back to their home state to pick up drugs. One traveler actually had crystal meth Fed Ex'd directly to the hospital! The dealer got caught and the traveler was fired of course, but get this -- the traveler always managed to pass the drug tests!
Same thing happened to me......oh well, found something just as good..nm
