32 year RNY veteran
I had surgery 32 years ago and have maintained a 200+ weight loss all those years. Here is a piece and a big piece of the problem. The surgery does not come with the correct psych help to give you the tools to deal with the problems that put you in the OR. There are so many times I have cheated in terms of what I have eaten to get so sick death would be an improvement. I have learned and I'd say it is more like I have been conditioned, to know what not to do so that my surgery continues to work. There are so many things that we can't be sure of in this life that if we take a chance on a surgery then we had pretty much better be ready for some results we perhaps were not expecting. There used to be a weight loss surgery bulletin board years back and we all got together. Everyone was postop. We even had the surgeon from VA who did a lot of the surgeries visit us. As a nurse he and I talked some shop about the whole deal and we agreed that the thing in that house that struck us the most was the amount of food that was there. Lots of junk and lots of liquor. Take stock of your reasons before you do a surgery. In this day and age just looking at a hospital is a risk!!
Resume response

I am having a horrible time getting lines in my current job, and I have sent out my resume to AT LEAST 10 companies with no response.  I have 11 years' experience!

Is anyone else having difficulty finding a position?  Im about to pull out my hair!!!!

Resume response.

I sent a resume to Keystrokes and 2 days later I received a questionaire.  I promptly completed it and returned.

I received no further correspondence. I would have preferred no response  at all.  The return of the questionaire was never acknowledged  with even a generic rejection or keep your name on file etc.

I understand  companies  cannot employ every person who sends a resume.   I had read so many positive things about Keystrokes such as I love it,  they are great etc I was disappointed they did not at least respond.

I thinks it demonstrates a total lack of courtesy.

Agree or disagree?

resume response

Thanks for your suggestions!

I am not sure I made the point clearly though.

A lack of respone to a resume would not upset me because it was unsolicited. It was the lack of respone to a questionaire THEY sent me.

I also followed up numerous times over several weeks with appopriate thanks etc.

Hi KS lead! I did not mean to hurt your company's reputation. I was merely tyring to help someone by letting them know of my experience. I have read mostly positive things about Keystrokes and I am sure it is a good company.

The only way I have of knowing my response would be received would be if my email bounced back but it did not.  Followup attempts  also were neither returned to my mailbox or acknowledged by Keystrokes.

Now I am going to drop it and I hope you will too. I PROMISE never to state my opinion again.

That does not mean I should or should not get a response to my resume for a job opening. Please - y

I've sent my resume and gotten no response at all. nm

No response from TT in 2 weeks...

I tested and submitted resume over 2 weeks ago ... no word one way or the other yet.  Is this common?  Or is no news bad news, and I need to move on the to next company on the list?

I sent them my resume 3 years ago and am still waiting for a response!

Abbicorp--Did anyone ever hear from them. I sent a resume and NO response.

What's up with that.. LOL

Do you think you get a better response to post your resume on here or answer ads on here. Which one
seems to give the best result.
Anyone else have problem getting response to resume submission?

There was an ad placed on August 29.  I submitted my resume to them on September 1.  I had some questions and received a response on September 4.  I have sent 2 emails (one on Thursday and one on Friday) since then stating that I would like to talk with her about testing for their company.  I have yet to receive a response.  I have offers from a few others companies, but I really want to speak to this one first.  I have 15 years experience in a multitude of specialities.  I can't imagine that they wouldn't be interested in at least having me test for them.  Am I being too impatient or should I take a hint that they aren't interested?

I've considered emailing again, but it makes me feel like a stalker or something.  I also looked up their website and thought about calling.  However, their ad didn't list the phone number, so I'm assuming they wish not to have calls.  Today is my day off and would be the perfect time to test.

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hang in there, it took me about 2 weeks to get 1st response, then...sm
a couple of days later a couple of more responses, and even over a month later I got another response, and I have a lot of years experience like you (15+).  It just takes time, especially the time of year it is.  Another thing you can do if you haven't yet is go on the websites and test.  I seemed to get faster responses from those companies.  I was able to finally change jobs and I am very happy with my choice, but it did take some time and weighing options to pick what was best for me.  If you are patient, you can really make the best choice for you from a variety.  I know patience doesn't pay the bills and I am not saying to not take whatever is offered for now, but it takes time to find a good match.  Hope you find a company you like.
hi karen, i sent out a resume and got a response, but not working for them yet. ad on job board. nm

The only response was a negative one when I asked about them a few weeks ago. nm

It took over 2 weeks for me to get my response..but I did e-mail here again last Thursday and
finally got a response.  As far as I know, they are not done yet with everyone's schedules so please try again.  If not Lee, call or e-mail Martha or Becky or call your lead Transcriptionist and tell them.  I know they are busy with the new insurance changes and Aflac coming on board but I would definitely try someone else in the office.  Good Luck!
Has anyone who sent a resume to TypeToo in response to their ad for a psych MT heard back from them

you probably sent a resume about a year ago
and there were quite a few that were set aside - and now they are contacting you.
So it's about 3 weeks PTO each year
.
good point!!!! summer off plus 5 weeks during the year
if i had my life to live over.... a teacher has the best life
With all due respect, with your husband making $100,000 a year, you may not need a response. sm

Your kids aren't carrying the weight of a household on their shoulders.  A lot of MTs are in a position where they are the sole breadwinner, single moms.   Nationals run out of work, offshore.  Hospitals offshore or go to nationals.  Things happen fast.  Makes people desperate and edgy.  Please have some compassion.  I am not in this situation myself, but I empathize.  With all the automation these days, truly how difficult is it for a recruiter/company to pop out an email saying the candidate did not qualify, etc.?

Concerned about the low work at WebMedx over the past few weeks. Typical for this time of year?
I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.
Could some of you more veteran MDI-ers tell us
what you're using for LD? I'm fairly new to MDI, just a few months old, and I really like it a lot. I just got dropped from my LD plan this week though because they said I was using it for 'dictation'. Anyhow, I'm switching to MCI. I've heard there are no issues w/that and MCI said they have no issue w/it but I'm wondering if that will change. What do you do for LD and what is your cost for it? BTW, MDI training was decent and the staff is super nice.
I am not your dear! I am a veteran MT who has never taken
their test but I am telling you what I know from QA. I definitely am not your dear and will never be. I think you need to come off your high horse.
I'm not a newbie nor veteran...sm
I've only been doing transcription for 10 years. However, with any job, I have always been the type to accept criticism with all the different jobs I've held, newbie or not. I am also the type that knows when to cut a company loose when I truly believe it is time because my sanity is more important. Especially in this field, there are more companies to go with; it is not like transcription is limited to just a few companies. I, myself, would take the loss from training like the MT said below and move on.
question for veteran MDI people.

Have you ever been given a new primary account that you did not want?

Have you ever been denied another backup account?

Thanks Veteran!!! I knew I was not the only one who thought this.

I probably just did not deliver my presentation in the best fashion.

I did not mean to be nasty to anyone.  Just truthful.

Thanks again!

I didn't know about the Veteran's Trust Fund
My ex is retired Navy, but I myself am the possessor of my own DD214, honorably discharged and everything, but I was only in for about a year (back in the day, you got out when you got pregnant).

I had a lot of very bad things go wrong in my life and was somewhat surprised at the fact that there was no place to turn. My sincere goal is that if/when I get myself dug out of this whole, I have a few things that I'm going to volunteer/advocate for.

Thank you for the info on the Vet Fund. I'll be looking that one up tonight.

Zilch, zilch, waiting. I get an average of 10-12 a day with 3 different accounts (ESLs) mostly.

Same here. Nothing, zip, nada.

Hunh? I have been with Proscript for over 5 years and I didn't get a pen...or anything!
Nada (sm)

Thanks so much for posting and I am so very sorry about your situation.  I was hoping, and still hoping for you, that they have cleaned up their act and will keep my fingers crossed for you.  If they have not I believe that all of us need to email the moderator to stop this company from posting here again.  They try and stop the scams from posting, warn of the scams, etc., and when a company continues to do employees like this I believe that they should no longer be able to post here and put someone else through he11.  Just my opinion.

Again, thanks so much for posting and I truly hope that you receive the money that you have earned!!!  Keep us posted.

Nope..nothing..nada... Just my 2 cents..
Maybe lost in the mail
Have sent 2 requests, but heard nada from them
Oh well, it's their loss.

I really think it's pretty rude to place job postings that you have no intention of acting on though.
De nada. Donde esta la biblioteca?
Imagine?!  Four years of Spanish and that's all I remember.  Good luck in your job hunt!
Ditto. Goose egg. Nada. Oh well, they can't afford s/m
an X-mas bonus for us, after buying that MT school, etc. :-/
How long does it take TransHealth to get back to someone when you send a resume? I sent a resume
x
Has anyone gotten a job from any company not posting regularly from their resume in the resume
s
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
Apparently, you got a call back.. Not me.. over 9 years of ortho experience and nada
Oh well, best wishes to you. Let me know how it goes once your through the process. I had asked before about information on them but no one seems to have any.
Nada...... Can't complain though, great line rate is worth no extra gifts at X-mas. nm

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

No but I sent them a resume - sm
They never responded to it.  I have a ton of experience, too.  Doesn't bode well for them to me.
sent resume
I sent a resume to MDtalknet and am waiting for a response, I even live in the same town, not that that really makes a difference.
Sent my resume in...sm

2 weeks ago and have not received an e-mail regarding testing.  I have 25+ years of experience, mainly acute care, 6 in radiology.  Wonder if they wanted more radiology experience.

Are you sure they got your resume? I know that they are
hiring for ortho right now. I have been there 3 years and the account I am on is expanding and I know of at least two new accounts.

If you did not hear, I would either call or re-email.
