I forgot to ask how many lines are on one page with them.  Are there any suggestions needed to know ahead of time?

They work with you to make sure you get the lines required or the amount of lines you want...
I have never had a problem getting more work
Thanks so much. How many lines are required for full time? nm
x
Been working almost 2 months now and almost at required lines. (sm)

Taking me longer to get used to program than I had anticipated.  I know we have 90 days to actually make the grade, but am getting slightly worried.  No one has called me on it, but I am sooo nervous.  I am not a newbie, but maybe I am getting too old to learn new programs/etc.

Of course, checking the boards while I am working is not exactly helping me. I realize that and am only doing so on breaks now.  Any helpful hints?

How do you get your required lines if there was no work at DSG or Keystrokes. Is
that a problem with them if there is no work or what do you do.  Thanks!
Are you required to type 2400 lines in eight hours? Only
aa
They have the accounts set up so that we can BARELY get our minimum lines required in.
If I want to camp out for 15 hours a day as I wait for work to trickle in I can make more. :-(
MDI-MA does not require a set schedule- you do your required lines in 24 hours. nm
nm
Does anyone know the minimum lines required part time for Amphion? Thanks. nm
n
Make sure you ask what the required lines per day is. Could be 1200-1800 or higher. nm
s
Who here is required to type 1800 lines on a daily basis for FT work?
x
Well, what do they do when people dont meet their required lines due to no work. Most ridiculous
thing I ever heard of.  Overhire and then I expect MTs are to work 24/7 to get in required lines.  Nothing like making a total fool out of people.  Hardly worth making minimum wage now is it.
Can anyone tell me the required amount of hours/lines for part time per week for Focus? nm
nm
She told me "average" of about 45 lines per page.

nm

Wow! This means 19 pages in 1 hour! One page has 40 lines.
This I will n e v e r , e v e r believe, only if I see it with my very own 2 blue eyes!

LOL !

Not at all. Worked for the NJ company. Used to pay by the page or partial page. Don't know about

there is a thread further down this page or possibly the next page
I transcribed for Compuscribe years ago. Had no problems, just low pay but no problems.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on a page
number to get the most recent archives and then can do Ctrl F and do a search for WebMedX.   I wouldn't call them a small national.
Page 2, scroll down towards the middle of the page, NM

Silent type....but
you get paid by the page and you have to go to Ft. Lee, NJ for 2 days for training. No set schedule as long as 40 pages are made per day.

A good company to work for & they have benefits, and you can ask for op reports as ur preference. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');

They are not a good company to work for. They produce horrible work and are a terrible company all around. SAVE YOURSELVES....don't work for Silent Type!!!

Does anyone here work for Silent Type - I need info on the company.  Just offered a job with them and I would like to talk to a fellow transcriber.  I know I have to go to NJ to train.  Any help would be appreciated.
silent type
i know they are the ones who got my hospital i had for 14 years because they got the entire network.  They charge a fortune and I hear their work stinks.  An administrator told me she doesn't know how she gets the accounts (Marilyn).  But that's just me!
Silent Type
Yes, you have to pay out-of-pocket for your trip and you are reimbursed somewhere along the line, up to $500. But who has $500 to pay just to be able to work????
Silent Type Inc

Has anyone had any experience with this company? Good, bad, indifferent? Dependable? Is there work? Do they treat their people right????

Thanks!

Silent Type
Any info on Silent Type would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Interviewed with Silent Type today.  Need some more info on them regarding their pay per page, etc.

Silent Type
I also received the same email regarding testing in the past and training at home. I had my interview prior and live in NJ but still would have had to travel 2-1/2 hours for 2 day training in November. Now they will train at home.

Yes they provide computer but the insurance (I'm a single mom) was outrageous and the pay per pay (top rate probably after years) was less than I made per page 12 years ago. I chose to stick with where I am.
thank you for info on Silent
Thank you.  That is about average I would say.
Silent Type
Anyone who started with Silent Type - I am curious about who it's going with the page count and type of system they use for transcription.   TIA.

Hi Anon,

Thanks a lot for the info.  I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Silent Type
I have a good friend who works there and absolutely loves it. She's been there about 4 years now. However, they offshore most of their work which I don't like. That would be my only thing against them.
Silent Type
I tested and interviewed with them.  Even though they claim top wages, they offered me a very low page count pay rate.  They may have upper it since then, this was around December.  Know they provide equipment and also benefits for myself and 2 kids was almost $600 a month.  I didn't accept the job but maybe pay rate has gone up and benefit costs down.  Let me know how you make out.
Silent Type sm
I would appreciate it if you could please e-mail me if you work at Silent Type.  I wonder if it would be better than where I am, although where I am isn't bad, I feel Silent Type may be better.  Thank you.

Does anyone work for Silent Type or know anything about this company?

Does anyone know anything about Silent Type?  They make you go to New Jersey to train.  It is worth it?  I live in another part of the country.  Thanks.

Anyone have any info on Silent Type out of New York?
Silent Type
Anyone with current info regarding Silent Type.  How are they to work for, platform used.  Anything at all you would care to share. Thanks for helping.
Yes - and so is Silent Type
There are a few companies who are ALWAYS looking for MTs.  There is no way they can have that many accounts or they'd be the only transcription company.  They must have a hard time keeping people.  I got a call from Silent Type a couple weeks ago and the lady was very rude.  I've been doing acute care for 6 years and she talked to me in a demeaning manner.  I can see why they can't keep people.  Another company is Soft Script - always looking.
Silent Type
Any opinions on Silent Type would be helpful - how they pay, OT, management, QA, shifts, etc. Have gotten conflicting info.
Silent Type

They pay by the page, and depending on which account you get put on, that may be a good or bad thing.  You have to go to NJ for training at your expense, which to be honest is very rudimentary and could be done on the phone in a couple of hours.  You get reimbursed after 6 months, assuming you are still there.   Insurance is VERY EXPENSIVE.  Very little if any communication...rare feedback, and cryptic when it does come.  You get placed on one account and no backups for when the work is low....sort of a take it or leave it company culture.  Their platform is Word-based, but no whistles or bells, and you are pretty much on your own in terms of information.  If anything else you want to know, you can email me.

Silent type OT
PS - Never pays OT, no matter how many hours you work and yet somehow gets away with putting on your pay stub you have worked 72 hours (I guess to stay out of trouble with the labor folks).

On a positive note, you have 24 hours to get your quota done, which is very easy to get, assuming you can live on that (pay increases per page the more pages you type), but tops out, so really no other incentive to be more productive.

Their PTO is pretty generous.  If you leave, however, good luck on getting paid for PTO due you as they stop answering emails if you question the issue - they also hold your paycheck until you return their manuals, etc., which is not legal, to be honest, but somehow they get away with it.  Hope this helps.  I must admit that I am curious if this is in line with any of the conflicting inforfmation you have already been given.
Silent Type
Very little communication, and cryptic when it is received. Pays by the page. Have to go to NJ for training at your expense, and will reimburse up to $500 after 6 months, assuming you're still there. Training could easily be done in 2 hours on a phone call remotely, so not sure why you have to go there, other than to have you chained to them for 6 months in order to get your $$ back for travel there. Word-based, very basic platform with no whistles or bells, and very little documentation on client specs. Most of the things you learn are on your own by the seat of your pants. It's a my way or the highway type management style, and when you leave, you won't get paid for any PTO or vacation time you have accrued....if you're still interested after all the above, then my prayers are with you. ;)
