were from disgruntled ex-employees or if they had valid complaints.  It's really easy to say the sky's not falling with 4 weeks under your belt.  It's an almost sure bet that you won't be there in 4 years, maybe even 40 weeks.   General concensus is after 6 months, attitudes start to change, if it takes that long.  I gave it 4 years before I quit believing the posts praising Transcend and telling me to hang in there, it gets better.  I figured after 4 years of not seeing it get better I had enough proof I wasn't a disgruntled employee.

I've been there for about 6 weeks now sm
I'm not disappointed. Plenty of work. Pay on time. Good feedback. Nice platform, easy to use. My account has good dictators-I'm not sure about the others. I know they have several accounts and a few different platforms. You are IC. They give you 24 hours to get your work in, I believe.
I've only been there about 6 weeks, but

so far I haven't had any issues with them watching my every move.   You are paid on how many lph you type.  While I HATE punching in and out it helps keep me focused and helps increase my line count.  I have worked an hour or two off my schedule and there hasn't been an issue, especially since there is a lot of work and they have offered OT.

They have many accounts.  I know there are some with a very high level of ESLs on them.  The account I am on says per contract ESLs are 40%, but based on the work I get I would say that is a low number.  Most of them aren't horrible, but do slow you down.

My biggest issue is with their platform.  I find it to be slow.  Twice since I've been there my supervisor has sent e-mails out that the system was slow, today it was even down altogether, though not long.  About every other day the system freezes up and I lose a job.   I think the first part of October they are doing an upgrade that is supposed to address some of the issues.

They have 2 new accounts coming on-line very soon, one large account that recently came on-line.  Work has been sporadic, but seems to have picked back up and with the new accounts coming on-line there should be plenty of work.

Their platform is Word based and they use Shorthand, which I totally dislike.

Everyone seems willing to help, even the tech department is helpful and friendly, at least from what I have seen so far.   I work my shift, I produce a client ready product, and I don't hear from anyone.  I don't know if that is because I'm doing okay or they are stretched with all the new accounts.

I don't know if I answered all the questions or not, I've got a migraine and my brain isn't processing very well.

They may be better out there, but there are a lot worse out there too.  I would recommend them.

From what I've seen, in a few weeks
MT-30+ will be on here ripping KS apart on her own, just like she ripped LM all over the place earlier in the week.

Talk about burning bridges, MT30+. Perhaps you should consider practicing what you preach?
I've been working there for a few weeks sm
I like it so far. Their system is a little clunky to me but I came from a job with a great system, so I'm used to the best in technology. From what I hear, MedScribe's system is like many out there. I like my accounts; I have two. Their people are pleasant and helpful. They have a great incentive system. So far, so good.
For the entire 8 weeks you've been there?!

Speaking strictly for weekends, she's probably not working, and has forwarded her calls to the help desk, where they could put you in touch with the weekend supervisors, if need be.  But I truly doubt she's ignored you the whole time you've worked there.  She's simply not like that.  She has answered every email I've ever sent her, and always answers her phone during her normal weekday.  My supe has an usual name that starts with D, same as yours, right?

I've been there a few weeks (Oregon)...
and you can feel free to e-mail me with specific questions, be glad to tell you what I know to this point.
I've heard others say they wait 2 weeks

They use ancient equipment anyway.  Get with a company that is with the times.  Furthmore KS'ers on this board seem like recruiters to me or else they get paid to put nice things about that company.  I think they're 9 cents short of a dime.  I can feel it in my gut.  No company is that great.

Oh, I also heard they start everyone at 9 cpl, which is a lie!  That was told on this board as well.  Don't believe everything you read.  I'd rather work for Transcend or MQ!  HAHAHAHAHAHA

I've applied to 15 places here in 2 weeks and
nm
No they're not. I quit 2 weeks ago
NM
We've lived your yesterday for 4 weeks straight

Don't believe for one minute that they don't know why there's no work - they just don't want to tell you because you'll start looking for another job.  Mass quantities of work don't just disappear without a reason - and that reason is usually profitable to someone other than an MT!  How long can you survive getting 4 hours a day (sitting there trying for a total of 12 hours), 6-7 days a week, for 1/3 of your former paycheck?  Beware, your occasional day of no work might turn into a whole month of it!

Like somebody said below, this used to be a real job.  Not anymore.

I've worked for Ubiqus for 2 years now and I get paid every two weeks.
I really enjoy the work because it's advisory board meetings, round table discussions, and big conferences of all fields of medicine.  I started with them right after I graduated and I've never done any of the doctor dictation, I like this work better.
Call your supervisor and tell them you're giving two weeks
notice if they need it.
I've BTDT. I'm sorry you're going SM

through the same thing.  Here is my advice (for what it's worth).  I would not actually quit until you find a new job.  Then, respectfully, let the old company know that although you feel bad about leaving them that you have to give 2 weeks notice because there is just not enough work to pay your bills.  You could also say that if they do not need you due to low work volume that you could quit effective immediately, but that due to professional courtesy you would be happy to complete 2 weeks (something along those lines).  Just be polite about it.  They know that the majority of us work for a living and cannot expect us to continue to work for a company that does not have work.

Good luck to you!

Only comment I've ever seen is that your pay will never go up from what you're
s
I know where you're coming from. I've done QA (sm)
and it's frustrating. I'd rather do transcription than QA.

But at any rate, you might want to check out Precyse or Axolotl.
you're in the minority if you've gotten all those raises...
You're the only person I've ever heard of who has gotten not only *a* raise, but raises every year. Even management people will tell you that they do not give regular or scheduled raises. I've asked every year I have been with Cymed and now with SPi and have gotten a grand total of 1 raise, and that was only because there were extenuating circumstances. More power to you, Jamilynn! :D

They're working on it? You've waited on them for 6

forget them.  Unless, of course, you like being strug along.

Of those, I've only worked for MDI-MD, and they're GREAT...
Good luck on your decision. Sounds like you have some great opportunities from which to choose. Go with your instincts and I'm sure you'll do fine.
You're correct when you say we've allowed ourselves
to be doormats. I think we're ALL guilty of that.

The big question is, HAVE WE ALLOWED THIS TO GO ON FOR TOO LONG? Have we reached the point where, even if we all join forces and stand up to the MTSO's, things won't ever change?

No one knows the answer to that yet, as we all still allow them to push us around, and haven't yet started to push back.

The only way to learn the answer to that question is to START PUSHING BACK.

'But, I might lose my job!'

So what? You're ALREADY losing it. To India. To Pakistan. To The Philippines. And soon, to China. You're losing your job by being PRICED OUT OF IT. When your wage reaches a point (if it hasn't already) that you bring in les than it takes to pay your bills each month, you will LEAVE MT and do something else.

But what if you love MT? What if you're good at it? Just loving MT is no reason whatsoever to settle for being paid practically nothing to do it. Your love and dedication to the profession is something that your employer knows you have, and is taking 100% advantage of.

The only thing they've proven is that they're

QT Medical is an awsome company and seems to be what you're looking for, from what you've said

The many negatives? You're the only one I've seen bash it. Not every place is for everyone.

Marilyn - I think we're on the same account...I've been with KS for over a year (sm)
and was given this as a backup account...I can't make ANY lines on it at all...I've already given up for today.
Yes, they offer I think 4 weeks at full pay or 8 weeks at half pay. Call the office
and talk to them about it. You wont lose your job. They aren't like that.
I hope you're right. I've been waiting 4 wks for an ID - still waiting! nm

What good does it do? They've lied, they've betrayed us.

They've taken all they are going to take from me.   I am not going to waste any more time being angry.   I hate the way things ended, but I refuse to accept the blame for any part of it because I know that was a lie too, even though they did try to blame the MTs.  I know part of the problem was quality issues, but QA wasn't to blame for that either, although they have been.

It is time to pick up and move on.   I think mgmt will reap what they sow.   For those who worked on the main account Webmedx is still hiring, though the best time slots have already been taken.

What the heck? I've never heard that in the 8 yrs I've worked here. sm
Go back to your STM or over his or her head.
Hope you're enjoying those slave wages you're earning.

So you guys feel you're getting paid what you're worth with VR?
I'm not trying to be snarky. I've never done VR, so I'm trying to understand.

You're happy with your paycheck with VR? Do you find the files to be as bad as the original post implied?
So you're telling me, basically, they're bad news?
They offered me 0.095/line and you know - it sounded too good to be true, but I SWEAR the recruiter told me they do not outsource. Oh brother... I just wish they'd be honest. I really don't know what to do.
Not the OP, but they're supposed to take out all the other taxes as you're an employee with th
s
No, they're not losing money....they're gaining!
If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.

ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.

Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!

This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!
Since you've brought it up, I've stopped SM

giving the negative info because every time I have in the past I am called a disgruntled ex-employee or told that my experience has no relation to what the company is like today.

I won't repeat the information I've given in the past, anyone can find it on searches.  I've decided to just let the people have their experience with the company and that experience will validate everything I've ever said about those people.

The same people own and run that company--they may have new names doing the management, but it still runs the same way.

You've got it ~ you've hit the nail on the head....

I can Google until dawn and still not find John Smith in NY - you know the neurologist...  Cut me a break!  I've now learned to ask my online company for a list of referring physicians (since none of the accounts are in my state) and also ask for websites for the hospitals, but I still don't take more than 5 min of my own time to find referring physicians.  I send it right through with a verify cc:...

As far as making an educated guess, I would only do that if it was my own account and I know the dictator well.  For the online company, it is their responsibility to make that educated guess as it is their client, not mine.  I leave that up to the company to make assumptions; this way it is on their back, not mine when it comes to the legality of the report.  Ultimately, the physician is responsible when signing that report or there should be clause on those reports that state dictated but not read.  If that clause is not there, then it is the physician's responsibility to know the content, not the MT.  An MT can only transcribe what they hear and really should not be making educated guesses on anyone since we live in a world of sue-happy patients and their malpractice insurance is so high.  If there is a question, it needs to go the dictator to resolve.

JMO - been doing this for over 20 years.

I've been a QA 15 years and I've never heard
of any company only paying for the actual Keystrokes of the blank. You would literally make less than minimum wage that way. Waaay less.
Hey, you're in luck then. They're hiring! (nm)

We're not 'so scared' of it. We're trying to help
you to not make a huge mistake, but I guess you're determined to learn the hard way, so good luck with that.
If you're in the 37% tax bracket, you're making over
100K per year. Quit complaining.
Also a few weeks for me sm
The real problem has not been getting used to DQS, but the fact that so many transcriptionists are doing the accounts, I may have to type from 5 or 6 different hospitals to get my lines in each day. The switching has slowed me down much more than the DQS itself.
It took 2 weeks to get an ID, but they kept following up sm
with me until it came in. They told me this upfront, so it was not a surprise. I was working out my notice at another company during that time, so it was a smooth transition for me. If you do not get something you need, call the office. They have always responded well for me and taken care of things quickly.
2 weeks' for nothing
Its hard to believe that when in the last few months we have been barely having work and we are not compensated in any way whatsoever. Just like its not your fault that the account you are to work on its not our fault that we are running out of work. I say lets give the loyal employees who keep sticking with TT through this very dry drought some kind of compensation if for nothing else than for sticking around.
Pay is ever 2 weeks
Not twice a month like most companies, doesn't seem like much of a difference but it's at least 2 more pay checks a year. Payperiods end on a Sunday and the check is in the bank the next Saturday.
i got one a few weeks ago
I got one a few weeks ago. I just told her that I had a position and only wanted radiology right now. I have also as someone else replied gotten a postcard before, I believe last year or the year before.
2 weeks

when you put in a 2 week notice, do most of the MTOS just let you go right then.......or do they let you finish out your 2 weeks?  Just curious.

It took me about three weeks,
but was well worth the wait, I love working at Keystrokes!   They treat their employees like human beings and not just a number.  I never run out of work either
2 weeks
Usually they let you finish your out your 2 weeks.

If you don't give 2 weeks...most times they mark your termination papers as not to rehire.

Hope this helps
Every 2 weeks. nm
