Do you get primary one work type (BORING) or do you get a fairly good mix or how do they set it up?  TIA

work pools
When are companies going to wake up and realize that placing their MTs in pools and giving them a different doc each only cuts down on their productivity and increases their errors?  I have been trying to find work for over a month now and I have had plenty of offers but they all want to stick me in a pool and they say when you log in you get who you get to transcribe.  How in the world do you get good or fast at typing for someone when you have someone different each day.  I think this is the dumbest way to run things and I am hanging on until I find a company that will assign me my own 2-3 docs.  Anyone know of a place like that?  And another thing, are there any companies out there anymore who actually do doctor's office notes instead of clinics or acute care?
work pools
Phoenix does not assign work.  The work is always the oldest work out.  I have been with this company since they started and since starting on the Inscribe platform, work is taken in order, which is always the oldest work.  Once a new MT's is trained on an account, they are moved into the pool as any other MT, so for the first week or so of training they will only be on one account and that is why an account may disappear that was newer to the pool.  Everyone gets the good with the bad once they are off QA.
Which companies have work pools...sm
I am curious.  I would like to find a place to work part-time that has a pool, and when I don't have work at my other job I can do work there.  Any ideas?
MTSOs - Why work pools? - sm

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be more feasible to assign exclusive doctors to MTs, rather than have everyone type out of a pool?

Would it not be better for the client, as well as the MT, to eliminate the pools?  Would it not result in higher production because of familiarity and eliminate cherry picking?

Any thoughts out there on this?

No experience, but was told that work is assigned, no pools, and it's still 8cpl as an IC. nm

I do not work my secondary if it is also low (sm)
which it has been. I know we're told to work secondary if primary is low, but I don't think it's right for me to take away from somebody else's primary account if it's scraping the bottom of the barrel too. I guess that's why I'm spending 12 hours at my computer a day to get my line count.

One of my secondary accts has very little work , but they..sm
stat every blessed report they do, so I always get those immediately. It is TAT, but your STM can explain it in more detail.
Holy Cow -- all 3 of my accounts have work. One even OT. The secondary (sm)

one  had been particularly low for weeks now and today there is a massive quantity.  I wonder if maybe that hospital was trying out another service and just sending us a small amount. Whatever the reason, the work, at least for now has picked up greatly.

We are having KFC for supper so I can get in there and get a few of those OT lines while they last.

Hope everyone else is having good luck with their accounts also.

No work on Edit Script, no work on my primary
I bounce between several accounts and 2 platforms every day and have been for weeks.  I only see my primary maybe one day a week.  I was so excited to start with TT last fall after 11 long years with MQ and today I'm sending my resume out again.  It's makin' me sad.
Usuall plenty of work - demand a secondary or tertiary acct. nm
nm
My primary is caught up, but other accounts have some work. NM
xx
Yeah, and I can bet that account used to be my primary because it rarely has work now!

Company typing pools
The company I currently work has auto pooling and typing pools.  This is the first time I have come across this term.  Would somebody please let me know what this entails?  It sounds like a bad thing.  :(
Thanks for the info - are there set schedules, account pools and is there

a weekend requirement?  You have been very helpful.  Thank you!

Typing pools versus first in, first out, what is difference?

Secondary account
When I first started, I was put on a GREAT ER account that I love, but since it is only ER reports, they wanted to give me a secondary account in case the workload ever gets low on that account. I didn't even have to ask for a backup account. They gave it to me a day or two after I started because they didn't want me to ever run out of work. I got a HUGE hospital account as a backup and never run out of work. They are bot on the ExText platform and I love them both.
OSi because they ignore me about a secondary
.
You must ask for the new account as a secondary
You won't run out of work anytime soon. Ask Debbie about it. They are begging for people to work on it. How did you miss that email?
If it is your secondary that has OT offered how do you do it? nm
.
A few years ago my secondary went to another company and (sm)
evidently some of the office people as well, they in turn gave the new company the names and phone numbers of us who had worked the account and the new company actually called many of us to solicit us as employees. I felt it would have been okay for me to switch, since I had had no control over the account coming or going, but I didn't feel it was right for some of the higher ups to be involved in soliciting us for the new company. If anyone was in the wrong, they were. They shouldn't have shared records and personnel information like that from one company to the other IMO.

No secondary/OT posted too long..

I have also repeatedly asked for a secondary account.  I am told each time, we will get you trained on one of these new accounts when they come aboard.  Well, the new account comes on board, my account gets some work and I never get trained!  Also, my supe loves to posts OT for my primary all the time, and seems soo shocked when the end of the week comes and our account is totally out of work!!  DUH!!  Do not post OT soo soon or for so long!  I have given this company a try for now 9 months.  I'm getting sick of this crap!

Webmedx secondary accounts
If you take on a secondary account, do you bounce back and forth between your primary and secondary based on turn-around times, or do you get work from your secondary only if there's no work on your primary? I'm pretty sure it's the former, but just want to be sure.  TIA.
I have been trying to be patient but have been working on my secondary account so much lately, I am
starting to think it's my primary. Been in the business a long time and understand slow times, but this has been a chronic problem for many months, so I understand poster's point of view. Stick it out if you can, if not, there are lots of other companies out there, but remember, the grass is always greener on the other side and you may be sorry you jumped ship. Hopefully you can find somewhere that will make you happy and feel appreciated.
You weren't offered secondary accounts?
That's unusual.
My secondary account has been slow for weeks
but they gave me another account, so I'm good. My primary account has also been pretty busy these past few weeks. I guess this is just a slow time of year.
Webmedx ? secondary, tertiary accounts. sm
Have a main and secondary and almost always have work, but.. sometimes after OT has been offered (like this morning) I have nada.  Think I need to be assigned a third account or be put on as a helper somewhere.  I suppose I ask my team manager, are we allowed to request an account that looks busy, must it be an account in her Book of Business like with MQ.  Any info before I make the call would be appreciated.
webmedx tertiary secondary accounts
I have 5 accounts with Webmedx. I am always running out of work on the weekends because like you said they call for OT and then there is nothing left for us who do work the weekends to type while everyone else is getting more money for OT.  Not very fair.  Like the other MT said beware of what you wish for.  different accounts with different account specifics is sometimes more trouble than it is worth. Haven't had a full paycheck for quite awhile.
surely they knew your secondary was that low - why did they crosstrain for it? NM
x
I was out a couple of minutes, mostly getting secondary and tertiary accounts. (sm)
I know when I hired on I was excited I could get days so easily, maybe we are just too many on one shift.

I agree, we need our own board where we can chat without being chastised for monopolizing the board.

I think the next time I run out I am switching to my part time job and trying to get back in here this evening.
I've asked repeatedly for a secondary account. nm

primary
My primary is on that list as well but we're still going strong and hard so not sure if I believe that or not. Also a local hospital is on it and I know for sure they don't outsource.
new primary

I was given a different primary once. It was a brand new account. I tried it, and really didn't like it, and when I asked to go back to my old primary they said that was perfectly fine and put me back without any hassle at all.

I have added another secondary a couple of times, without any problem as well.

That was my primary for 5 years (sm)
also and right after the first of the year *poof* into thin air.  It was a peach of an account...dang!
Do you have a primary account - sm
or do you have to work on several different accounts? Do you get a lot of feedback during training? Did it take you very long to start meeting line requirements? Do they have decent insurance? Thanks!
They have several accounts. My primary
runs out regularly, but my primary has an abundance of work.
I've had my same primary....
since I hired on almost 3 years ago and only had to ask for a backup account this summer. Other than that, I've not needed another account.
Has anyone lost their primary?

What happened?  How did your company handle it?  Did they even tell you?  Was anyone quietly pushed out the door only to find out later it was because their primary dropped?

I feel like I am all of a sudden getting pushed out the door, and I know my primary renewal date is coming up shortly.

Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.  Any signs that I should be looking for (both with regards to work itself and how I am being treated)?

Thanks

It was when I worked at YOG -- primary account was 95% ESL. BUT, it's not so bad ...sm

Generally, a lot of times they say the same things in their review of systems and physical examinations, and you can make up little normals for each doc.   Tough way to get your start, though -- sorry.

By the way, I don't think most acute care accounts are that heavy in ESL, but a number of 70-80% wouldn't surprise me.

Good luck!

Mine primary is internet
My primary account is all internet with no phone line. My secondary account uses a C-phone with a phone line. Some of their accounts are internet-based, and others use a C-phone with a phone line. I love them both.
Is this happening on your primary, as well as your back up
accounts? Have you called management regarding your situation?
I don't have to be management to know I have a primary account
that I work on and have backup accounts. If you have problems with ESL doctors on a certain you should let someone know. I had this happen before on a backup account and they removed it from my pool.

I myself find it interesting that people who don't work for them and have never worked for them are posting below bashing the company on heresay.
I wish my primary paid by the minute...
No one ever seems to know what they are talking about on that account and they take FOREVER to get through a report. Some dictators will take 15 minutes to dictate a 50-line report because they are shuffling through papers looking up things or just saying umm..duh.. I also have one dictator who will repeat things constantly, sometimes repeating the same sentence 3 times! I'd be making about $5 more per hour if I were paid by the minute... This wouldn't be a good deal on my secondary account though. There are a bunch of fast talkers and mumblers on that account.
Can you give any hints as to your primary?
like initials or what type of hospital (assuming it's a hospital account) it is?
I love the company too. I have a different primary

account that has been running low, but just when I think I might need a backup account, the primary kicks back in.  I think these smaller companies are the way to go these days.

I think it depends on your primary acct; sm
I've noticed some STMs give more leeway regarding shift windows, and usually it is based on turnaround time for your particular primary account. I think I would approach my STM again and ask more specifically, Why does STM X say this and you say something else? Probably you would get a clearer answer. It never hurts to ask.
Losing primary account.
What happens?  I haven't been working for an MTSO long enough to know (worked in house for the last 5 years).  Could someone please tell me their experiences?  I work for a large MTSO, so I am hoping that I can get placed on another account, but really, I don't think there are enough slots to fill all our positions.  Any thoughts?  Please HELP.
To losing primary account
Can you tell us which company? The moderators say it is okay.
