Like Bill Clinton read the big bible...
he used to tote around on Sunday photo ops!
I agree. The line counter is a pain, but I've checked lots of reports against MS Word

Ms. Tessier
Was she an MT, Supervisor or what?  Who did she work for previously?
'our own' Claudia Tessier is far from OUR OWN. She's now a digital suckup.
l
Lots of promises, no follow through. Lots and lots of internal sm
problems. She is recruiting heavy right now as she has a CHANCE at getting a big account back. Even if they get it back, they'll blow it again from poor management.
our own Claudia Tessier in 2003...she is executive director of Mobile Health Care Alliance. check t

this is, in fact, doing away with medical transcription as we know it. rather than free text, there will be standardized text at point-of-service. even coders and billers will be replaced by the computers.

this is at the MOHCA site as well.
Surgical Notes
This is a company based in Dallas, Texas. They do surgery centers. QA staff are just ordinary clerks--not transcriptionists. There is a lot of orthopedic, plastic surgery, ENT, and GI surgery. Any work up to 5 p.m. is due by the next day--usually by 9 or 10 a.m. This is for weekdays M-T. Friday's work up to 5 p.m. is due back Monday. After 5 and Sat and Sun due back Tue. Pay is always on time and is very good, 0.09 to 0.12 cents a line.
Surgical Notes
Yes-- I worked for them indirectly. I subcontracted to a contracting MTSO. Their virtual private network is just horrible. It is slow and you get kicked off frequently. I know of MTs who worked an entire week and only made $10.00 because of the system. They have an FTP site system that I loved. You could just download the voice file and type in Word then return it; however, when they changed over to this new program everything went down hill very quickly. My doctors were not happy with it either. SN raised the rates, went to this system -- by the way you need to buy a 15-pin pedal and forget any tech help. When I was there it was also lacking. Anyway my doctors took their accounts and walked away. I ended up leaving for that and other reasons. I haven't worked indirectly for them since July of 2006.
Surgical Notes
I should also add when I was working for them indirectly, for several English was second language.

Any info on this company from IC's currently or recently?

I worked on a surgical orthopaedic
Decent doctors, decent pay.  Really quite easy.  I would still be there if they had changed some of their policies.
I worked in a surgical clinic with 50
physicians and their dictations certainly were not as complex as those in a hospital. Guess every clinic is different.
Has anyone heard of Surgical Notes in Dallas
Texas. Any information would be appreciated.
Info about Surgical Notes in Dallas please

6 cents a line for surgical reports

I just saw that ad for 6 cents a line for heavily, fast-speaking ESL doc.  I love to do surgery, and I have done this for 30 years, but there is no way I would tackle that, no less than 10 cents a line and really more than 10 cents a line.  Would the person seeking an MT for that position do it!!!  I think not.  Our pay is going backwards instead of forward.

Surgical Notes Transcription wages
Their offered wages are more than the $12 hour I was paid in a rural hospital.
Looking for info on company called Surgical Notes...sm

Would like to talk to anyone who has worked for them or is working for them.  Please e-mail me.

6 cents a line for surgical reports for an ESL dictator? Are you NUTS??

I'm just absolutely appalled and disgusted...

Surgical Notes transcription service out of Texas...anyone work there?
Do they hire employes or IC? Platform? Thanks in advance ;0
I totally agree, your story is mine and lots, and lots of others, please
believe me when I say Keystrokes has been honest like we used to have in this profession. If I can help one Transcriptionist avoid what we have, this will all be worth it. I worked parttime for Keystrokes at the time I was fulltime with ____ and quit, 2 years later I begged them to take me back after once again my paycheck was cut in half, and they did with open arms. I don't mean to run down anyone but a lot of these transcription companies are getting obscenely rich while paying below minimum wage to transcriptionists, playing with dictation and after working for a couple of them you know who is honest and who is not. Sorry I came down so hard but the reality is there are single mothers out there that I bet cry themselves to sleep not able to give their children a decent life because it is easier to steal from us. When companies have millions of dollar to pay for other transcription companies, open transcription schools in other countries, ect., ect., you know there is a lot of money in it. That is all I am saying.
I don't think we work at the same place, but I have been working lots and lots of hours.
Very thankful to have a decent job.
The platform is Word. Their program works with Word but does not change how Word works. nm
The benefits just changed the first part of this month. I don't have them but I remember them being reasonabl for a single person. Family and spouse was not reasonable in any way (in my opinion).
Lots and lots of recent stuff in archives.

ExText is integrated with Word. Auto correct is a part of Word.
ExText is a Word based platform. When the page opens for you to type the document it will be just like you are typing in MS Word.

What law? There's no law. There was a book (sm)
by a conservative that came out, which is what started this whole heightened nonsense over Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays. That book has effected a nice smokescreen to get away from the real issues plaguing the party, such as illegal wiretapping.

You use your own expander. Overall I feel it is user friendly and I like it.
Be patient...they always get
Well, this too has happened at my place of employment. This one girl would run her mouth about how great she was and how she was the best and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!!!!  Well, she was fired yesterday! She was doing things worse than cherry picking...gossiping. She lived off of it. One by one, all the women in the office realized how she was and one by one she has been left out in the cold by us all. She started missing work...having every excuse in the book from her poor old sick grandmother to her poor sick daughter to her poor sick self....which of course she has ulcers (so she says) probably from all the lies and deceipt. She thought her job was SO secure but even the "best" finally get found out. Now this place of employment will hopefully turn into a nice environment to work as she kept it upset all the time. So, my message is to be patient and eventually they all figure it out. Just do the best job you can do with what you got! Happy typing!
I think you just need to be patient,
I talked to her yesterday after waiting over a week and she is just overwhelmed trying to get back to people, she was very nice.
I'd be a bit more patient.
I had about a 24 hour lag between emailing and my offer. I think that most companies get swamped with resumes every time they post here and it just takes time to get through it all.
Be patient
Don't worry. You will hear back from them within 5 days. That's about how long it took for me to hear back from them. From what I've heard from others it's been about the same for them. Good luck.
Please be patient. SM
When mergers and other events occur in this industry and between companies, it is natural for those who are impacted to want to discuss.

If you have something you want to ask about or discuss, just post about it. You need to also keep in mind that everyone is not sitting here 24/7 waiting to respond to posts. Give it a little time.

It is NOT too difficult to read down through the page and read the different posts that are about MDI/Transcend versus other topics.

Thanks.

What are you writing, a book
x
About the book/tests - have you not ever sm
done any in-depth research into the field you are working in?  Had you done that, you would have probably ended up at the AHDI site at some point (creator of the BOS) or MTChat or here - references to BOS and tests come up daily.  How could you have been working and not know there was a BOS?
Re The Book of Style
Just a short note to say, you really need to learn the BOS, even if you don't think you need to, and no matter what anyone else tells you, for your own knowledge, you need to know the basics--the style basics. We all had/have to do it, you are not alone. It's all a part of the game. :)
I agree 100% with you. The book is sm
correct 99.9% of the time. Once in awhile you will find something wrong, but then you just write it in and change it. You never know on the internet. I don't think there is any substitute for sitting down with a book and doing research. I do understand that in this day and age it is not cost effective to do that. That is why I still believe that it is a disservice to MTs not to be able to work in-house for several years before going home!
with a book you wouldn't need sm
suggestions now would you. There would be an entry and it would be correct. Also there are still some places that don't do voice files through the internet so it wouldn't matter if the internet was down or not.

Obviously there IS A place for the internet but to say you can't or won't use books anymore is crazy!
I would also ask about looking patient's names up and such.

I don't mind..I'm patient (nm)

Be Patient...They are swamped...
It was almost 2 weeks before I heard from them. You might drop them a quick phone call just to let them know you are interested. E-mail me if you want more.
