I guess what I'm confused about
is the insistance by the company that you be employee status versus IC.  I specifically agreed to employee status with a committed work schedule to try and avoid this situation.  Why would one commit to be available expecting to be paid if this is not the case.  I know how the whole feast or famine situation but I though the employee status eliminated that.  I guess that is incorrect.  Thanks for commisurating with me though.  I feel a little better
Then the above poster is wrong? Guess I'm confused again. nm

I guess I was confused...didn't realize poster...

was referring to hourly wages.  Whenever I worked an hourly job, lunches were not paid--had to punch in and out..  The 15-minute breaks were paid though...didn't have to punch the ol' card for those.

I just get rubbed raw at the hourly thing because the average at-home transcription gig pays on production and to mandate that someone has to be sitting in front of their monitor from such and such a time or else is just very disheartening.  We know we have to work our buttinski's off or we bring home a crappy paycheck and we recognize TATs that have to be met...treat us like the professionals we are and we'll all be happy, know what I'm sayin?

It has been a well-spread
rumor that an MT with this company has cancer and is being hounded about her line counts. Not cool IMO. Knowing management the way I do, I am not surprised.
QA spread

Have been MT for last 25+ years...QA for the last 12 years has been constant with all employees providing negative feedback consistently.  It will be forever.  Used Voice Recognition for last 1-1/2 years........

tricky stuff if mgr not transcription oriented or at least with knowledge base re MTs.

Now is all about the Numbers....cancels out passion for the process.

Whoever spread that rumor
I've been paranoid ever since the pay cut rumors post - thanks, rumormonger for spreading needless misery!
I have seen this with my own eyes SM
the place I work has hired no less than 4 or 5 people who absolutely can't operate in a Word environment, they keep talking about how great WP 5.1 was, pining for the old days....
Are all of their accounts out of CA or spread across the country? TIA (NM)
xx
Are your eyes open?
Do you work for OSi? If not, quit bashing them. If so, why haven't you secured another position due to your unhappiness?
time sheet
You have to keep a time sheet. It's done online and it's pretty brainless to do. I wonder about people who have nothing better to do than complain about things 98% of the workforce deals with.
RE: Old eyes/new screen
Are any of you having trouble with focusing on the new white screen.  I've been in DOS for so long I forgot what a strain the white can be.  If you're having trouble, how are you handling it (and not losing time transcribing)?
Rolling eyes here. They were being
sarcastic get it??
Tired, yes. But you already WON in my eyes!

****rolling eyes**** see what I mean everyone?

Get those $$ out of your eyes! No lawsuit here!
No defamation of character, TT Management!  It's all public knowledge.  That's right.  In the good state of Texas, one can look up this case and read the whole RIDICULOUS lawsuit.  Looks like something that would come out of that state!  Like our brilliant ex-Prez!
They absolutely do not! Please don't spread unfounded rumors like that.

Go spread your lies somewhere else. This is utterly false. sm
There are three people who do the training, and it is very thorough. How would you know anything about the owner? First of all, it is they not she. Secondly, I have worked at KS for 3 years and have never had any contact with either of them.

I am training to be a lead transcriptionist, so I have talked to a lot of managers, other leads and transcriptionists. All are very busy, and the accounts are not overstaffed. Every one of the more than 20 people I have been in contact with are very happy.

There have been no accounts lost in the past several years. If you were really an employee, you would know that no one has pulled an account and that there are new accounts constantly.

Broken promises? Very vague, don't you think? The employee book spells everything out. There are no secrets.

Either they let you go for one reason or another and your are bitter or you were never hired.

I think that Keystrokes is the most improved company I have ever seen discussed here or on other boards. They did have problems when they started but those are in the past. Current employees are either happy or being worked with to make them happy.

I am looking forward to being a lead and to staying with Keystrokes as long as they will have me.

Risking cancer spread waiting on ins
I was saddened to read that you are risking the potential spread of cancer by waiting for your insurance to cover testing and treatment.

First, I think the 12-month waiting period would make it Dec 2009 rather than 2010, but, still, waiting til Dec 2009...geez...I hope you reconsider what the consequences are.

You might check into other options for paying for testing/treatment, including extended payment plans, public or private financial assistance, loans, whatever it takes. This is your health and your life that you are risking by delaying. Is that worth the price?

I'm thinking about all the people who have lost their lives because an otherwise treatable cancer was not caught early enough.

I'm sorry for your situation and hope I haven't sounded preachy. Just hope you will reconsider your options. Best wishes.

That is good news! Glad you got to spread
xx
You fill in a time sheet
but why dread it? attitude is 60% of the challenge (or more). You might just like it better, i do.
Rolling eyes is quite unprofessional, IMO. sm
Get over it disgruntled.  My goodness, did they expect you to do horrible things like to  work 8 hours a day and meet minimums?  Shame on them for expecting such of a Primadonna.
No, it is a manual time sheet (sm)

Bonus is paid on total for pay period, not hourly bonus. I never put potty breaks on it, just my lunch break, cause that's longer.

All I got wa a time sheet via email from TT
I don't have anything set up like you do. That would be nice to have that.
Cross your eyes and your toes too. :-) The only
than I read but once you get used to it and it learns your particular account, you should be able to do OK with it.  It's picking up more and more all the time, less things you have to fix on certain worktypes but I look at it as job insurance, not displacement.  No matter how they tout this thing, it'll never replace us completely.  And it's good for a laugh now and then.
I agree. My eyes are open too and sm
I trusted these people to operate decently.  If they are giving work to a company that doesn't pay people for work performed (even if it's bad, you know they have to be fixing it before sending it back and collecting their pay on it), then they don't deserve my trust.  These people at WMX are just as sneaky as the other companies, it turns out.
what kind of attorney did u all hire and in which state? What if u are spread
all over the US and there are like 8 that were not paid? Do we get an attorney in the same state as the loser who did not pay us? Or what is your advice there? What did u do? How much did it end up costing u? Plz reply via email if you want.
Make yourself an Excel sheet to do the calculations for you.
Not hard to do.

Once I get my packet, I'm going to do that. If you want I'll post when I do that and would be glad to send it to those who want it.
Naaa, can put it on one sheet but you'll have a separate
column(s) for ASR figures.
How do MTs get paid if it is not on time sheet. Are they just working to keep
p
Right and if they are offering OT, you just note it on sheet. No biggee.
nm
my instruction sheet says 222 for for slow, 333 for speed.
nm
Luckily, I ALWAYS print out my time sheet, so...
that will be my proof, I suppose. Needless to say, 40 hours is IT for me, lines or no lines. And now I need to start looking AGAIN for a better job, if such a thing even exists. Don't bother lauding TT - been there and done that and with the honesty about them of late I won't go there. But any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Your posts make my eyes bleed -

Keep your eyes and ears open. I have worked
for Transcend in the past, as did several of my friends, and we had a really bad experience.  MQ was better, which says a lot.  Hopefully things have changed now and they have improved their act, but things were horribly mismanaged a few years back, horrible accounts with cherry-picking, supervisors and other leads telling untruths, etc. Biggest point I remember was huge favoritism. I happened to be one of the favored ones, just by luck of the draw, while my friends were not as lucky. Again, just a bungled mess and we all left within a few months.  I believe one of my friends still has their computer. They never even noticed she was gone. That sort of nonsense. Best wishes to you, though.  Maybe you will be treated well since you are part of a business deal.
Ditto to Queenie. My accounts have Overtime as well. Don't spread lies. sm
You need to ask for more work or another account. I have NEVER run out of work, but, I also have 15 accounts in my profile. Don't complain about running out of work when you can ask for more and get more.
You fill out a time sheet. If you need to make a change sm
to your schedule, you just email them.  They seem pretty flexible about everything.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a million!

You're a dear.  :)

A million thank you's for saying that
It's so refreshing to hear someone who stands behind the name anon to really believe in what they are saying. It gives you TONS of credibility. On behalf of the entire EDUCATED Mediscribes/Cardiscribes team (including the Indian employees, as you call them) thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sparing us the embarassment of being associated with you any longer.
I don't remember using the word "glued" maybe you should unglue your eyes and read again

You are most definitely upset that your Bush **s-kicking ways have rendered your eyes caught in the
Without MTs, companies would not exist. You and many others have no regard nor respect for hard-working MTS. You can't take it with you. I feel sorry for you. Do the right thing...and, you know what that is.
That's about 17 million more than he's worth. nm

Thank you a million times over - sm

I thought I had simple questions but after all those posts, you'd think not!  LOL!

I really appreciate your taking the time to answer my questions - so thankful!  Have a lovely weekend :)

I just won a million dollars!
I found one on her computer! Now I can buy out Medquist and return it to pre-2006! No more ASR, no cesspool and each of you only will have one primary and a secondary and generous quarterly bonuses which you can actually GET!
2 million lines
Exactly, that is what I asked and got some lame answer.  No way should we be running out in the morning.
The $70 million powerball

That's a lot of money.  $70 million with an estimated cash payout option of $37 million which means after taxes you bring home approx. $19 mil or so.  Yeah, that's a lot of money.

I keep trying.  Someone has to win it.  It may as well be me!!!

fatcat... you are one in a million.

I really do appreciate everything you have told me.  There are so many people on this board so quick to judge and then every now and again you come across a genuine, quality person such as yourself.

I know my schedule is difficult to work with, but these companies never seem to give anyone a chance to explain them, not that it would really matter.  They expect 1200 lines a day for full-time, but I have always done that in part-time hours (5 to 6).

To me, that is all that should matter.  They want 1200, I will give them that, but I cannot be put on a schedule for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.

I have only had 2 transcription jobs in 13 years, the most current one with the Q for over 11.  I have always done well on testing, from what I am told my last test I took for a company was 99%.

I just don't understand how all of you girls can comit to working every Saturday or every Sunday.

Ok, I am done complaining.  I am hitting the job search full force again.  Thanks so much again for your kind words and thoughts.  You are in my prayers.

PS... I am probably way older than your daughter, I am going to be 39 in May.  :)

Thanks a million! I'll be back....
.
Wouldn't matter if they had a million MTs.
lol
Wouldn't do QA again for a million dollars. (sm)
Biggest challenge - keeping your sanity while having to fix crappy work over and over and over again while meeting impossible deadlines for really low pay. Believe me, if you can be an MT, you'd be better off financially and mentally. Oh, and no one is going to pay me a million dollars, so I feel confident in saying that. :) Why on earth would you want to transition to QA? Did someone tell you it's a step up??? Reevaluate that statement by searching the archives for commentary on QA problems. There was a long discussion on here a few weeks ago about it. Good luck to you. Choose wisely!
And the MILLION dollar question is...
Does Transtech get work from Dictaphone? Does Dictaphone have any control over their workload?

THAT is what this entire thing is supposedly about...

Hmmmm, I guess we'll find out when the court case is complete.
