I may do some PT/IC a couple days of the week just to keep my skills up and just in case they offer the lower rate of pay.

Gonna miss you Guys. Thanks for all your help.

Thank you for taking the time to post this! Appreciate it!

I'll help! I left MQ at the time of this original post
I found a great job with a great US company, and have my self respect back. Enjoy my work again.  Go USA!!  Go MTs!!
somebody must be taking it or it wouldn't be offered - whatever the market will bear, ya know--

I'll tell you how its taking work

Say you, and others like you, come on (or remain on) at the beginning of my shift.  The work volumes drop dramatically as YOU make up your hours - TAT issues or not.  By the time you've made up your time, there's maybe an hour's worth of work left.  That runs out rapidly as my shift was already FULLY staffed, and I get stuck sitting there the whole 12 hour window - and if I'm lucky enough work will trickle in during those extra 4 hours that ALL of us scheduled to work my shift that are fighting for it can get their time in and call it a night.

Night after night I run out of work an hour or 2 before my 8 hours are in.  Sometimes I only have 20 minutes left to type - but I am forced to sit there 4 extra hours in order to get that stupid 20 minutes - knowing I'll be short EVERY night, so if I don't make my 8 tonight, the chances of me making it up another day are very slim, because everyone is flexing all over the place.  Sure it gives us perfect TAT - it also gives us 4 hours of our lives a day, wasted and unpaid!

No I do NOT want to make it up on my days off.  I am already spending 12+ hours a day chained to my workstation.  My days off are sacred for my sanity.  Maybe it doesn't bother you, but it certainly bothers me, and I quit the last job I had where flexing 24/7 was expected.

I know you need to make your hours.  We all do.  The MTs are just doing what they have to do.  The only real solution is to STOP OVERHIRING.  Otherwise flexing eventually gets forced on every employee on every shift, whether they mind it or not!

I'm taking the same chance. I think I'll sleep better at night. nm

Maybe it's because they post jobs and never respond to people.
Has anyone actually had them respond to a resume?
Give them time, they will respond.
I wish you all the best!!
(Past employee for personal reasons only)
Don't have time to respond right now, but feel

free to e-mail and I'll answer some time tonight.    I've been told by someone else that the only positions they are hiring for currently are 10-hour shifts Friday-Monday, 2nd and 3rd shift.

Public board. I am free to respond to any post.

If you find the original post so offensive, why did you respond at all?

Why don't you get a clue?  A good number of people enjoyed this.  If you dislike it, you can just move on to some rosy-happy-fun filled post and leave the rest of us to chuckle without being harassed.

I have known this for a long time; that is why I NEVER respond to an email from ANYONE on this board

because it will identify your email address when you return their email.  When they ask me to talk via email, I just don't respond to them.  NO RETURN EMAIL FROM ME.

If you read your paperwork, you'll see that is an option they have. Also, the state of Illinois
does not have right to work law, any employer can fire you at any time without cause.
I'll keep that in mind when I'm offered 7cpl.

You are taking my post a little too seriously
You are also obviously missing the point. My post was purely hypothetical. Again...you totally missed the point.
Taking post down-sm
So far, only 1 vote to take the post down. Would 9 more vote to take it down, please!
If you see a post that needs deletion, please post the link on the Monitor board and we'll

review it.  This way, requests for post deletions won't appear in the newsletter.

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME IT IS
THANKS!
thanks JD for taking time out of

your busy day to post that.

Thank you all for taking the time to
post. I truly appreciate it as I might have taken the chance and gotten myself into a mess. Have a great day.
Okay, guys, it decision-making time...

Yeah I know.  Bummer.  Decision making is not one of my favorite pastimes.

I got an offer from MDI-MD.  Very tempting.  Pros and cons, but overall company appears solid.  Liked the recruiter.  Lots of longevity in the company which was a plus.

Okay, here we go...Yea or Nay.  Presently an MQ'er.

Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to answer
I am very interested in finding a QA job - how/where do you find a job doing this with no experience doing QA? What would be a fair hourly rate?
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply
I was contacted by them just a few minutes ago saying they had already hired someone for the position. I had not taken the test yet which I was happy about. It would have been disappointing to go through all that trouble to test and they had so few positions available like that.

However, I will make a note of your information for future reference.

Thanks.
In this day and time people are taking
pay cuts to keep their jobs, don't think now is the time to be asking for a raise. We are on a tier system, so there is no way we can get a raise. Other companies where I have worked have always had a cap and once you reached that there were no raises.
THANKS for taking the time to publish
this information.

If you think how EFFICIENT government usually is, then you know not to OVER-worry about these changes.

Yes, tongue firmly planted in cheek.

That said, anyone who doesn't understand by now that MT work is dying a slow death isn't paying attention.

This constant rebooting is taking up a lot of time.
nm
I could hammer myself everyday over taking time

Life is waaaaaaaaaay too short!  We have the option to work from home, so it makes it easier to do back-breaking line counts.

I absolutely refuse to sit and wait for work.  You're just a number at these nationals.

If you're lucky enough to sub for a small company, so be it.

I like being my own boss and giving myself an hour off or a day off or whatever else off.  What else can we do?  We need vacations and breaks just like the healthcare professionals we transcribe for do.

Thank you Rennie - I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. sm

But - all I can get is dial-up in my area.  Also I cannot work weekends due to family obligations, but I appreciate the information and most of all your time in getting it to me.

I think doctors are taking vacation this time of year
I've seen this in the past in the summer.
good post, but sad state of affairs nm

This is why I NEVER post my cpl. I'll post the range of
what the company pays, but NEVER what I make.  I know that I make more than probably 70% of the people there, because they know I produce a client ready report and that I can do anything they throw at me.   We don't have levels, but I guess if we did I'd be at the highest level.    Telling how much you make isn't so bad, but when people know what company you work for and then what you make that isn't a good combination.  The ONLY people I have ever discussed what I make with, are my husband and my MTSO owner.   Talking about your salary/pay is enough to get your fired in lots of companies.
I'm like to know the answer to her post also. I have worked for an MT company in NY state,
and while I lived in another state at that time, I received full benefits; Ic or employee status had no bearing on receiving benefits.  If I were the original poster, I would check this company out very thoroughly. Something just doesn't sound right tax-wise.
Wouldn't we all..but I did apply and have not heard anything. See the post below where they state
the work is consistent and sporadic.  I just figured something like that could be a good IC job and still keep my FT.
Today is Columbus day, and state offices and post office
is closed. Perhaps some docs took a long weekend. Maybe that is why on this particular Monday the work is trickling in. I am just getting some work now. So maybe it will come in later. Just an idea, about it being a holiday.
Caught that. Thx! Something about competition clauses at the time kept them from hiring in NY state.
s
Actually, they offered for me to come back any time.
They hated to lose a good MT.
I'll second this post!
Things have gone from bad to worse on my account, and I'm probably going to have to find a second job or jump ship entirely.  DO NOT apply unless you want to be out of work due to continuous overhiring.
Posts from May said they offered 6-8 cpl with spaces and pay was on time. nm
,
There is a part-time and a flexible part-time, just left there and they offered
me both. Flexible, however, is more or less when they need you (I.e. weekends), part-time is fixed hours.
Note post on main board re: MTIA forcing credentialing. Can we say police state?
??
In my state, if they hire you full time, then do not provide the work you can draw unemployment -
You would have to talk to someone in your state, but I was able to draw partial unemployment while still working in Georgia. I had to report in each week how much I made and they gave me partial benefits. To qualify, you had to have been hired full time.
Not okay - they'll delete post

Midwest, mid-sized company, not far from major city, US only.

I dont care if they ban me I'll post it

Oh, you'll get full time
but it will be full-time ESL. You won't get the full-time high line volume accounts unless you are a good ole girl. And the turnover there is frightening (because of the ESLs).

They'll definitely do it some time. You know they won't continue...sm
to pay us such a good rate when all the other companies are paying 3-5 cpl. If they all set their rates so low, there is nothing we can do about it if we want to continue to work. Their Town Hall meetings are always a pep talk followed by something that cuts your pay in the couple of years I've been there.
The pay is very low and they also offshore. If I can find the link, I'll post it.
.
From a 5/06 post, 8 cpl up to 1800 lines a day!!! Then you'll get 8.5. Not for this turtle

going to tell me what to say, or where I can say it. If they don't like our American freedoms, they should pack up and move the whole operation to India, Iran, Pakistan, or mainland China, where they belong.
You'll see this poster every time something is said or asked about Keystrokes. sm
He/she has a bitter attitude about them but never provides specifics. I think everyone just ignores this person. I know I did, and I am glad as I love my job at Keystrokes. It did take a few weeks to get started but they were waiting on my ID from the hospital. It was worth the wait. I have been there 4 months now.
