That''s great and I've heard they pay great as well.

I just have heard a lot of adjectives for a few accounts - zinger, killer, impossible, etc., and I sure know I couldn't hack it there. But I'm sure they know what they are getting into when they sign up.

Because of all the great things I have heard here - sm
I just finished filling out my paperwork for Futurenet. I have been looking for 3 months, contemplated many offers and turned down many offers. I think this is just what I am looking for.

The autocorrect that you use - is this the feature that is in the word program? I was told that there is a word Expander in their program. Do they mean Autotext? If so, is it easy to use? Thanks!
I heard great things too
which is why I am so hesitant to even consider looking elsewhere. Hope we hear something tomorrow. Feel free to email if you find out anything.
I had heard so many great things about KS too, though

it was mainly only a couple of MTs that posted.  I want to do more than be an MT and I thought KS would be a good company that I could advance with.

It just did not turn out to be a good experience for me.  They talked a good talk, but they never followed through with the raises or anything else.  I never ever got paid for OT, yet was asked to work extra during my work days and asked to work on my scheduled days off.  I worked because I needed the money, but 8 cpl just wasn't worth it.  I also had a lead that wasn't very good and you might as well have talked to the wall.

I think there are worse companies out there and if you are coming from MQ they might seem pretty good.  If you go back and reread your post it sounds like it is a no brainer.

I've had a great experience
so far in my year with Cymed (Spi-BSO). Apparently, some disagree, and while I did have an initial experience with a somewhat cranky supervisor who eventually left, admitting burnout, my experiences since then with new supervisors have been great. They always have work, they leave me alone and let me do my work; I do have a set schedule, but if I need to vary from it slightly, it's no big deal as long as the work stays caught up. I'm sure if you mention your situation, they'll work with you. They only hire actual employees, no ICs. They only hire management from MTs (i.e., have been there and know what it's like), have been around for 20+ years, and even the work itself is good--a few mumblers, but at least 80% of the dictators, if not more, are surprisingly clear-spoken. Check 'em out.

I've had great luck. it is hit or miss as with ANYWHERE..
depends what they are looking for at any given time.

Sponsors, companies know. can see through the padding.
Of those, I've only worked for MDI-MD, and they're GREAT...
Good luck on your decision. Sounds like you have some great opportunities from which to choose. Go with your instincts and I'm sure you'll do fine.
System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.

Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.

A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
You are pathetic! I have a great life, loving family, work for a great company.
You might want to fix that.

You really don't have to shout (angry person), but yes you are wrong!!

That is my last word to you!

I will add that getting a great pay check every other Friday from Medware really puts a huge smile on my face.
"Was" is the keyword here! Up until the sale, they've been GREAT! nm

I've never clocked in/out, great company to work for.

GREAT post. So true. I've been in this business
for 30 years, and never ever had more than an hour or 2 with no work. Not acceptable and doesn't happen to me. I work my behind off, am fantastic at this, and not 1 employer has ever done that to me, and probably never will. Just like you said, if I hit no work, I call and straighten the situation out. Don't ask questions about the account, about what MT can or can't transcribe it, just state that no work is not gonna fly with me, and I am always treated with respect and instantly given work, which I also thank my bosses for. Give and take - it goes both ways. I'm there when they expect me, and I'm there when they need me, and we're all happy. Can you imagine some MTs getting ANGRY at you? Again, another scream or throw up reaction from me. Some of you MTs really need some psychoanalysis, if you know what that is...obviously your income is NOT a necessity, and this is probably a job for you and not a career. You get out of MTing what you give and what you expect, nothing more, nothing less. Expect to be treated like garbage, expect slave wages, expect no work, expect disrespect, and you'll get it, and it seems like many MTs are looking for this! Thus the continual postings asking about companies we all know STINK. There is no other explanation - you want to be kicked to the curb and probably put little effort into your life across the board. Such a shame.
I did QA, didn't find their platform great. I've seen
a recent post where they pay 8 cpl.  Sound quality and dictators horrible and no way is 8 cpl enough.   They have constant tunover.
Great place to work. I've been there a year.
Exactly what do you want to know?
x-press - it's not all that great - heard they are paying late these days also
nm
Oracle is great. Bayscribe is wonderful great line counts.
The trainer at OTI will always answer any questions about the platform and if you have any problems they have already worked them out, so just ask. Good luck!
YOG - Lots of work, great office staff, great money. NM

Loved Alltype! Great management and great accounts.
wah  -  i miss it there!
It's a great company -- lots of work and great pay. sm
Web site is www.mditrans.net.  If you need anymore info, feel free to ask.
AXOLOTL - A GREAT COMPANY WITH GREAT INSURANCE
Axolotl has AWESOME, AFFORDABLE insurance.  Family plan medical and dental costs a little over $300.00 MONTHLY.  They also pay for family plan vision in its entirety.  STD, LTD, 401K with match and flex spending account, great PTO and HOLIDAY pay.  OH and paid downtime in the case you run out of work, which doesn't happen often!!!
Great pay, great benefits for 11+ years..sm
I've just started with this great company (eMTS).  I have 11+ years of experience and I was started at .10 per line as a regular employee, not IC, with a huge sign-on bonus, full benefits, very nice people, and a good account.  So far, this is the best experience I've had in my years as a transcriptionist.  Unfortunately, I don't believe they're hiring more right now, but you could always check in with them, they're online at eMTS.com.  The management seems to really care and they work with you.
Great company, great boss....

I use to work there.  The dictators on my account were really good.  They use Emdat/Inscribe.  Pay on 1st and 15th by direct deposit.

Great little company..I worked there for a short time, IC, and pay always on time, great owner too!
I had good dictators, they use FTP, and I had a 12-hour window to return the work.
Started small; great company. Rapid growth; not so great company
First year I was there was like heaven. Then the big growth spurt when they hired managers from another company (that I had run away from before because of their bad management) and let them kind of take over. Although I have no proof it was as though I got 'bumped' by these new people when they came in and I lost a good account, good manager, etc. My paycheck went down every month lower and lower, and it became harder and harder to make my minimal lines. Having any kind of advocate was nonexistent.

It depends on you and what kind of MT you are. Seems to me there are pretty much 2 types...

Sports like basketball where you have the pros who play with finesse, and then you have street players who think it is all about physical strength, period. More and more the physical strength is winning but the art of the game gets lost more and more...

As in this country where there are almost 2 sides now, those with intellect and thoughtfulness, and those who think the only way to be strong and be a leader is to beat up everyone who does not agree with you...and force your will on others.

Suffice it to say in my opinion WMX changed its philosophy of the way it treated employees and lost its heart when it grew, and it was literally almost overnight...

If you are a mass producer who has no care of what it takes to make money, if you are a 'street fighter' then it would probably be for you because you WILL have to fight for everything. Fight for the right account, fight for lines, fight to be treated fairly, etc. If you appreciate MTing for the art of MTing or have any kind of joy for the profession, my guess is you will not make it there very long...

This is happening all throughout the what used to be called profession. Seems to happening all through everything these days. Humanity and heart are being pushed down to the bottom...
Great company. I've been recommending this company for a long time.

Great pay rate on a 55 ccl, great lady to work for and work is not tough. sm

It is all IC work, although you still are expected to give a schedule if you are doing stat coverage.  Only major drawback is the big wait for your first check -- almost a month from the time of your first invoice.

Good luck!

Wow - you all have given me great, great things .. sm
to think about and consider. I know myself well enough that I realize I don't always things through well enough before acting.

I do appreciate everyone's comments - both pro and con. This is exactly why I decided to ask for opinions. Thanks so much for not laughing at me and just saying that a hospital job is always the way to go. I'm pretty sure that I'll apply, and I already feel better prepared. You all are great!
Yep, they get great lines and great QA
yeah I see your point - because all the crap dictations go to everyone else :( Kind of makes steam come out of your ears doesn't it LOL
I've heard only positive things about them. So, I applied, but haven't heard a word. Maybe fl
nm
I've only heard of Intellitype. Never heard of Teletype.
x
What the heck? I've never heard that in the 8 yrs I've worked here. sm
Go back to your STM or over his or her head.
I've been a QA 15 years and I've never heard
of any company only paying for the actual Keystrokes of the blank. You would literally make less than minimum wage that way. Waaay less.
This is the first I've heard about it...sm
and why would someone leave the company over QA problems?  If they're not a good MT then that's not the company's fault.
I've heard of them, go for it. nm
x
Yes I've heard of them
and worked for Tanya for awhile. She is extremely, extremely nice and amicable, but it just wasn't the job for me. Hope this helps.
I've heard both yes and no, so I'm not sure. Most say yes. nm
xxx
I've always heard...sm
that there are an average of 10 five-letter words in a 65-character line, which would mean there are also 10 (or 9 possibly) spaces you are paid for. So 55 characters without spaces would probably be about the same as as 65-character line.

I've done a few checks on reports by dividing number of words by 10 to get total lines and/or number of characters divided by 65 to get total lines and it is pretty close to a 65-character line with spaces... not always, because a lot depends on what you're transcribing, whether it uses a lot of big words or small words, etc., but I think overall it pretty much averages out. You'd have to try it and do the comparison on that particular account or work type to find out for sure. Hope this helps.
I've never heard of that (sm)
I had contacted Sprint to see if DSL was available and it wasn't. I guess I'll call them back to inquire about that. Thank you.
10-15 cpl for CMT? The most I've ever heard sm
was a half a cent or three quarters of a cent more than without the CMT.  I'd also question how much this person actually knows if she has to point out that CMT needs to be through AHDI/AAMT and not college, MT school, etc.?  I mean, last I heard there is only one place to obtain CMT cert.
thanks...I've never even heard of that before

I've never heard of that either.
We get paid per line, but like the AP said, we get credit for the full report. I have never heard of anyone that gets paid per correction. That's nuts.
I'm not really sure about PT. I've heard that they do or they used to and don't (sm)
anymore. You could go to their website www.keystrokestranscription.com and either contact them by e-mail or phone. I'm sorry, I wish I could answer you but I really don't know for sure.
I've heard the same about them.
Plus, my company is losing several accounts to them. They do offshore quite a bit of their work which is why they can boast low rates for clients.
I've always heard it used
as in jockeying for position, as in jones'n around to strike the first blow in a cat fight.
I've never heard of them, but
I looked at their website. They say American only. I find it curious looking at the executive management page that many of the management are former Medquist people. I don't know if that's good or bad!
Not So Great

Yes it is the Transcend platform (one of them) but it's not so great.  It's terrible.  Makes working with the AIM system a cake walk!

That's great!

Enjoy it while it lasts, and please come back next month this time and let us know how you're doing because you're in for a very rude awakening.

They are not that great anyway.
