That is not surprising. Typical for how she treats people.

not surprising
A lot of these guys are just "suits" with no experience in this dept whatsoever. They usually have something else going on in other areas, so this is just not a priority to them, unfortunately.
it's not surprising....
that when people leave a job they lash out at the company, when in fact they need to take a good look in the mirror and ask themselves what prompted them to be let go. Shapin is a team company...that is just how we are and maybe some people just aren't cut out to be team members. So be it! Move on! If you don't like the wages, don't work here. Facts are that that is what the pay is. No one has the right to tell me what I should make and what I shouldn't. There is plenty of work to be done here, so if you want constant work in a very friendly, family oriented atmosphere, please apply. As for the disgruntled ex-employees.....get a life!
Not surprising, an MT would likely not be able -
to afford childcare (probably a major reason for becoming an MT in the first place), or to get the car fixed, etc. And every person has personal problems, and needs time off for a vacation, even if it's a couple of days. Nowadays we're even hounded about taking sick days, when we're SICK! And in my experience, it's often right about the time you land a new job that things in your personal life start to go awry. It's just the way life is, and Murphy's Law. Employers never seem to factor that into the equation with employees. That same old tired song and dance that if we can't function like machines, maybe we'll be replaced by them instead. I never took my vacations in large lumps, anyway; instead took a day here, two there, throughout the year. So yes, I AM 'always asking for time off'. But that just means I'm taking care of business, or my health, or my car, or my sanity. My job is important, but it is not my LIFE, as so many MTSOs out there seem to think it should be.
Not surprising...
I'm shocked they've lasted this long.....That company sucks and their format is horrible.  JMO.....used to work there.....but not for long!!!
Nothing surprising about an MT -----
having a bone to pick with a company. The only thing that truly surprises me these days is that with the way this business has gone the toilet for us all in recent years (and it certainly hasn't been for any lack of trying, or skill, or work ethic on the part of the MT), that one or more individuals havn't ultimately snapped, with the result being a tragedy. Look at what can happen to a youngster as a result of being bullied at school. Workplace bullying doesn't just happen between co-workers, or between boss and subordinate, it can happen between a company, or even an industry, and it's entire workforce.

I sometimes have to laugh at the mentality that says, 'If I just work really hard, keep my nose to the grindstone and my mouth shut, even when they cheat me, belittle me, and jerk me around, I'll be fine. Nothing bad will happen to me.' Not unlike all those fools who run with the bulls in Pamplona every year.... the ones who end up on the business end of a set of horns always thought it could never happen to them.
You are kidding - right? At 2 cpl he treats his staff well!!! nm
x
Unlike you who treats everyone with respect, you mean?
Sometimes it just takes time to find the right fit. I wouldn't buy the first house I saw, and one should not be satisfied with a job until it's one you can actually wake up and feel good about working it. There are a LOT of companies out there who deserve bashing. Maybe you should learn to be more tolerant of others' opinions - we are, after all, all entitled to them.
I would not say that Keystrokes treats their employees well...
and I doubt that they are over $50 M in revenue. When I was at Keystrokes, they had a few radiology accounts and clinics. This was two years ago. Stranger things have happened - maybe they are bigger than Transcend.

Bought by SPI which is a bad place and treats employees BAD.
I'd steer clear.
And if find one that treats you like crap, LEAVE
nm
Keystrokes accounts are stable. The company treats every customer
like their only. No accounts have been lost. I have been there for 3-1/2 years. Same accounts plus double since I started.
so typical
I wasnt fired, I left.  I did what I said, worked my shift if there was work.  I have always had good quality.  Keystrokes let me down in every way you could imagine.  I was lied to, left with no work most of the time, not given the pay they said they hired me in at on some of my checks, my pay rate as well as all other MTs was then demoted due to company problems.  I had bad checks written to me and had a hard time getting that fixed.  Not every MT was a bad MT that left Keystrokes.  Some of us are telling the truth and have every right to say what we post here.
Typical and not likely to get better.

typical
I have not heard this yet, but it is typical of the Flannery's to not share anything they absolutely don't have to until the last minute, keeping everyone in the dark, even eliminating positions without notice via e-mail. This is nothing new for them.
Okay, here is a typical day for me....
Up at 7 a.m., out walking by 7:30 a.m. for an hour, I do a rowing machine for 20 minutes and then 200 steps on a stepping machine and 3 days a week I do another 20 minutes on a treadmill, and another 3 days a week I lift weights. I eat 1500 to 1800 calories a day and I am still over 100 pounds overweight. I eat no candy, no sweets, no chips, no fast food. My thyroid is fine. So now what MISS KNOW IT ALL????? I work my butt off and I still have a huge butt, dang, I guess I am still fat by choice. Oh, and I have done this workout for 8 months now and I have lost a total of 7 pounds. So, once again, KISS MY -SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, that is not typical. Something is very wrong.
xx
You know that is a typical response if you have
a negative comment - maybe the issue is you and you just can't cut it.  I was a great employee, it just wasn't the company for me.
Are you a typical TT MT, with that mouth???
x
This sounds like typical DSG to me...
I have been gone almost 2 years and nothing has changed...I would say move on...
That pay is not typical. They are not hiring SM
for the higher level accounts that pay well. They are hiring new people at very low rate of pay. Then you are supposed to work your way up. Actually, my sound quality is pretty good. Still don't recommend because most work goes to India.
It's the typical rate

Typical Ignorance
You have to excuse people like that. The region of the country has nothing to do with crappy MT companies. Wonder why they apply for companies in the south, when it's easy to look up the company and see where they are located before applying? Perhaps they can't read, or maybe they lost their religion.
Typical mentality: TAKE, TAKE, TAKE ..nm

Typical bait and switch
They are nice in the beginning, then you get lost in their shuffle. You get mass e-mails that maybe do not even apply to accounts you work on - to the tune of sometimes a half dozen or so per day - that you are told to read NOW, before you start typing. Trying to get an answer to a specific question is like trying to reach the president himself. They tell you the accounts are good, then you get put on pure garbage accounts where you will struggle to make your line counts.

The thing is, a few years ago when I began with them they were great. It seems as they have expanded, chaos has taken over. I am currently looking elsewhere. Others have already left. Notice how they are always hiring now?!
There are better, there are worse. They are a typical national, and yes you have to pay for the com

A typical 'management' view of MTs. So sad. -nm

Sounds like typical tech
I was warned not to let Lexmark or Windows IT people get into my computer if I ever had to call for tech support - sounds like this guys is the same way. I hate techs who THINK they know what they are doing and just royally screw up your system. They are trained that your system should look a certain way and if it doesn't the first step is to FIX it - problem is fixing it usually screws up your programs. They are setup up that way for a reason!!

Anyway, my time at Landmark did not require logging into anything so that is probably why my time was so pleasant. I'm sorry they can't get their act together on this! It probably is the hospital and the tech person is desperately working with theirs to get it all fixed - but if communication is really that bad I can imagine what THAT must be like.

Sorry it didn't work out, I know you were looking forward to working with them!!
Right it's a typical office job sounds like.
You could always moonlight for acute care and make money to supplement.  That's what I did for 17 years at a 13 dollar an hour job until they outsourced without warning.  Just know that could happen to you at this new position (the work is there one day and gone the next and you are training your replacement), and you'll be fine.  Good luck!
Thats typical for rad report which are short. Have heard

Typical MTSO / Management mindset. - sm

Don't know, but similar to typical and very easy to learn. NM

You're right. You have no idea what I'm talking about. Typical. nm

Seriously, dont let them bother you.. This behavior is typical.
It is normal for some people here to react this way. It would probably be beneficial for THEM to get out of the house to remember how civilized people converse.
Typical holiday at Transcend - no work!

They musta sent all my stuff over to India so they can all get new saris for their next holiday.    Meantime, there goes my lunch for 3 weeks.  Ya happy now Transcend management?  You have managed to put us all in the poor house.  Hope your summer cottages burn and your boats sink.

Is it typical for decreased pay for not meeting line requirements? sm

I know every company is different but has anyone had their pay rate decreased for failure to meet line requirements?  I have heard of taking away benefits, etc. before but never heard of decreased pay rates for IC because of this nor have I ever heard of the pay rate being different for full time versus part timers within the same company.  I have health issues causing my lack of meeting line requirements.  It isn't because I just don't want to work.  I guess this is just another tactic to take money out of our pockets and into theirs like the pay rate isn't low enough already.  Geez by the time I cover my expenses as an IC, I doubt I come out with anything anyway.  I might as well just work for free for the government to donate all my money overseas!

Has anyone ever figured out how much difference is needed in pay between IC and employee to cover average expenses related to the job?  I know standard is 1 cent usually and that does not cover my expenses.

Webmedx work pretty low. Typical for this time of year? sm
I'm fairly new, so just wondering. Having come from the evil Q, it makes me nervous. While at the Q and a couple other companies, this is not the time of year I typically ran out of work--Christmas, T-giving, 4th of July, yes, now, no. Thanks.
Typical year round. They overhire. I left due to lack of
work.  About 6 other MTs left when I did, that I am aware of, due to lack of work.  There are accounts with a lot of work and frequent OT, but I was told they couldn't be worked on as a secondary account.  Made no sense at all to me.
So you work for free? Typical male response, jerk.
nm
"becausse" is high standards? nice. typical of the caliber of MTs they have.

Concerned about the low work at WebMedx over the past few weeks. Typical for this time of year?
I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.
I do know one IC that treats contractors as contractors
Only one though.

My suggestion is that all the IC's out there need to take back their rights as IC's! Don't allow general contractors to act like employers by not acting like employees yourself! Easier said than done, I know...
People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check
after insurance deduction. Maybe your bank is holding it. Maybe anything! But we GOT PAID. This is NO LIE. And I am sick of this board. Nothing but disgruntled exemployees arguing with employees who like their job. Ugggg. I am working. BTW: THERE IS WORK (clears throat) remember that? Work?
Keystrokes is wonderful!! They are the nicest people and care 150% about their people!!
Excellent company!!!!
I worked for SS and some people were very RUDE and I am talking about the editing people in some
instances.  It ALL depends on the person, as it does with any company.  They paid on time and the lady over me was very nice, but boy the person in QA was mean to EVERYONE!!  Never seen anything like it before.
Are people trying to scare people or just tell them what is happening. I am not scared just seeing
that things are changing very rapidly and not for the better for me. If I have no work and need multiple accounts everyone else is in the same boat now arent they that have my accounts. That is how people know what is going on.
Maybe due to the people that manage Amherst. I think MQ would be a lot better off finding new people
up there with all the problems you hear about that office. Seems like something is very very wrong there.
I doubt it. There are more happy people than unhappy people sm
at Medquist. I've checked out other companies but I liked MQ the best (I kept working at MQ while testing other companies).
SO right! People who get paid to bring people on-board -sm
to these companies (few, if any, are 100% honest, it seems), are going to be honest and tell you anything that isn't rosy and sugar-coated. Having a good prospective MT walk because the company isn't so great means less green dollars in their bank account every month. They're not going to tell us anything that DOESN'T make them more money.
More people will come into VR because the qualifcations to do MT are not the same. Lots of people w
to work at home. It's all relative to what you are used to. The nationals are counting on this. I think MTs will work cheaper rather than reenter the work force with no other skills than MT. The nationals are counting on this.
They named people's names. That is not right. People just sm

need to keep from naming names.  I thought it was an informative bit of information, but when you name names, then posts are way out of line.

I would really like to see a truly professional way of talking about a company.  I don't care what board you go to, somehow people just do not want to play nice when it comes to talking about people.  If those people could learn to be a little more professional and stop posting names to their wrath or anger, then that will be the day I can say I am proud to be in this profession.  When I see those types of things, it makes my skin crawl.  If it were me being talked about, I would be livid.  I certainly understand why the posts were deleted.
