Is this from the wonderful OSi QA manager?
This is what I would expect from her.
That is wonderful news!! I knew just by my
first interview that this company was on it.  I actually got excited.  Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Do you by any chance work 3rd shift?
This is true - the IRS can stick it to them
Contact an accountant or the IRS directly (slow time of year anyway). Ask them - there are 21 points companies have to comply with for independent contractors - find out what those are. I know they cannot tell you when to work, discuss how you work, ask about working for others, etc. - there MUST be something in there about the pay issues, as well. DO NOT LET ANYONE GET AWAY WITH THIS. They will push it as far as they can, and will only stop when they are threatened with trouble with IRS - so make sure they are not violating IRS guidelines for working with ICs.
Was it mostly the office manager or were there other issues?

I appreciate you sharing. Any other insight would be great too.

Martha Turner is the office manager. nm
    xxxx
I think that sounds wonderful. I hope they call!

Best of luck and keep us posted. I am all for MTs getting benefits and paid time off and working for the state or the county is always pretty much secure and great benefits.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Here is the dummy office manager's verbatim response
The allogations you just made are unbelievable. I want to see the information you have as proof. Please call me tomorrow morning at 739-7500. Can you be at PROSC at 10am with your unaltered reports?

    I hope it's great news!
We all need some good news anymore, LOL.
Keystrokes has great ortho accounts and a wonderful manager over the ortho work. sm
I have worked with them for 4 years and will never leave unless something drastically changes. I do not post here normally as it seems that there are so many negative people, but this is one I felt I could answer without being attacked.
NOT TRUE !!! I was a manager at a company that sm
was sued (and lost $450,000) because of a limb that was taken incorrectly based on the transcription. The hospital lost $2.8 million, the doctor $4.2 million and the transcription company $450,000. This was due to the fact that the transcription said one thing and the voice was gone so there was no proof of what had been said.

That error is partly responsible for the hospitals having the patient verify the limb and putting the x on it with the patient still awake and alert.

It was 14 years ago and I would not recommend a service to go without E&O and liability insurance, especially as the public is more sue-happy now than they were even back that short period ago.
I don't think this is a true manager, just a troll.

Not true, I get that for a WONDERFUL VA account. NM
    ;-)
Spoken like a true blue manager
Ahh loyalty..... what a wonderful quality. Defend to the end will we UNTIL the table turns on you!
True but I got news for ya - you aren't going to get steady work anywhere that way.-
An MTSO has an account to cover. Period. She will give the work to whomever is willing to be flexible enough to cover the account. Even an IC has to work within some framework, not just whenever I feel like it, right?
I hope you are right because my office adamantly denied until it happened that our accounts were
    moving and they are closing.
True, but if you worked in an office you could still do all those things
and get paid a decent hourly wage for 8 hours ;) See? I am shocked by many recent posts of MTs stating they type 150 or 175 lph, and at what, 8 or 9 cpl? That's like $12-16 an hour when years ago many of us made $25-30 an hour on average. I am fortunate to still be paid that well but I know it's not the norm. I just don't understand when or why this became acceptable, and just because you can work at home??? and/or can you actually live on those wages in some states???
Yes, it's true. The CEO and President and everyone who works in the office all came from L&H.
Also many of their QA staff and MTs.
I hope that's true, might make me feel a little better...
Even if they are being charged less, the rates companies are paying MTs to do VR is grossly unfair. There is no way it takes half the time to do VR as compared to regular. You still have to listen to the whole dictation. Maybe 65-70% would be fair, not 50%.
Very true. I would think and hope the forum would be open to all (m)
MDIers leaving, planning to leave, and not sure what the heck to do, and those waiting it out to see what happens. We could all compare notes, give insight when able, be supportive, etc. I hope there's a way to effectively do this privately.
True! I just hope the wrong person doesn't
    get banned in error.
I hope they keep posting. They're showing everyone their true colors. :) nm

No news is good news for me. I check my audited reports all the time
If I need to talk with one of them, I call or IM them.  But, no, I have learned that if I am doing a good job, they leave you alone to do your work.  They are not in any way a company that micromanages as long as you do what you are supposed to.  If you give them a reason to think you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing, they will keep an eye out on your work, etc.
They are wonderful! Pay on time, work always available, wonderful
    people
I thought no news is good news, too. Then got email about

Ditto, Keystrokes is a wonderful company with wonderful people! I love working for Keystrokes!
I am just not making enough money.  They are a great company though, just ask for a back up account.
I guess no news is good news! :-)
    Thanks anyway!
If no news is good news why is a person
    .
I agree - no news is good news - sm
They are busy making sure you have work and want you to stay productive and busy.  What is there to talk about?  I personally like being left alone to do my work.  As long as you get a check and the work keeps flowing, just do your thing!
Is this news should have been labeled NEWS ALERT ...
This is breathtaking information and everyone who works at TT or is considering has the right to know. It will be buried with a title like is this news? It seems as if you are responding to the first poster's complaint of no work.
I know I made over $60K as a QA manager. An MT manager
I am told is less money but definitely NOT as low as $36,500. I would not do it for $36,500.

The majority that I hear and see (and many are not advertised) are around $45K. You are giving yourself away for that. You might be working for a company that I received an offer from at one time. Great people but could not afford to work for that kind of money. Way too low to be on call 24/7.
The main office was in Bolingbrook but they built an office in Yorkville last fall. SM
I think that the owners live in Yorkville, so it was built close to their house. Nice office, just pretty far out.
Sometimes.....NO news is Good news. sm
Maybe you are doing just fine and everything is correct. Maybe they do no feel you need feedback because your quality is excellent!!

Good thought for the day :-) !!
good news and bad news ----
Good - plenty of work, just landed a new acct.

Bad - Check posts from a few weeks back. Out of the blue, everyone got a huge pay cut.
Just curious, is the MQ Nashville office the old Lanier office? nm
    nm
I don't work in the office and never claimed to. I am just saying that since the new office open
October with everyone of the admin staff in one place, these problems do not occur any more.
Can't get paid in the office if you don't work in the office.
JLG has MT's working at home, not in the office, not to mention working out of state.  The mail is the only way to get paid since they have temporarily suspended direct deposit.  The only ones getting paid on time are the ones that do work in the office, like the management and people answering the phone.
Closed FW office, Indianapolis office too. nm
    xx
    I stick to it
While others simply disappear during the day. Its very easy to work a management job and take on another typing job at the same time, or even another management job for another company all within the same hours!!! Dang double dippers, guess they'll be having a wonderful Christmas while I sit here having to put everything on charge cards. I have absolutely no respect for these people and I do know quite a few. I don't talk to them unless I absolutely have to.
Don't quite know where to stick this, but
does anyone know if there are different legalities on this sort of thing depending on who owns the computer that was used; such as, personally owned PC or one owned by the company that has a problem with what was said on it?
    Exactly..please stick to the truth.
    nm
    don't stick by their words
There is way too much of that in this industry.
Of course you stick it out with a smile. Really. That's what I would do. sm
Remember, she probably won't last long and then you one day may have her job. Don't let one person out of other really good ones spoil your new position. If it continues longer than a month or so, go above her head and speak your concerns. She's probably just testing you. You know if you are doing a good job or not, and if you KNOW you are doing a good job, then just take her comments with a grain of salt and continue working. Don't make a huge deal out of QA people who are rude. I swear, if I did that, I would have had over 50 jobs by now! Each and every single company I've worked for (3) have had at least one Grinch of a QA person and at first I would get all upset and then I grew up and realized that they are just grinches and the kind of people who probably really, really dislike themselves, so how can they like anyone else????

Why do ppl have to stick OSI on every post
    nm
I am in the same boat. Trying to stick it out
Glad that we have 2 incomes here. When I was a single mom could not have afforded to do this. What a shame!
I would try to stick it out as long sm
as you have your foot in there.  Most companies won't even consider you for acute care if all they see is clinic - you might actually like acute care once you get past the learning curve.  Good luck!
Perhaps you might stick to citing the law instead of SM
    psychotic-like ramblings.
Not to be a stick in the mud but what new account? sm
I know we were supposed to get 3 new accounts before November, but what is the rest of the story? Please e-mail me if you cannot post because I had no idea there was something going live.
I have to stick up for angry.
I am happy but I get unhappy when someone tries to push something off that is simply not true. She started her post with an untruth by saying she was in the trenches when it was pointed out in several posts that she is a team lead which is far from the trenches if you read the position open ads from Transcend - it is a lower management position that is used as a stepping stool.

She does not even give the same information about outsourcing that is given by the higher levels of management.

And her worry about offshoring or outsourcing or whatever word you want to use for sending our work to foreigners so they can take our jobs away is a croc - since the company was with before had a school in offshore.

If these positive thinkers would just post the truth it would be a lot better. When you start reading management posts that are not true, you wonder how much more is being hidden that you will uncover the longer you work for them.

You cannot say that any company is without problems. All you can say is how much effort is being made to correct what is wrong and let people make up their minds from that.

All we get is the short end of the stick. - nm

    glad I didn't stick
around too long at TT.  I thought it was bad organization myself.  Just my little input from experience!
