The above post proves my point! You are out of line and that was uncalled for..sm

In Reply to: Not buying your retraction for a second - Yeah right, uh huh

not to mention utterly ridiculous to even read. Why are you reaching so high to make this MT look bad because she doesn't want to work a weekend? Get over it already. The OP obviously has a life, some of us do! Maybe it's time you get one!

It really honestly proves to me

waste their time doing what someone making an average of 15 dollars an hour doing; it's just below this physician to do his own documentation.

Sorry, but that is evolution.  I guess he'd also not be bothered emptying his own trash can either.  His comment of spending his time doing a task that someone else can do it really cheap does not mean he valued his transcriptionist, per se.  It just simply means he'd rather spend his time doing something else.

That's the point of my post --

We have no information.  We've only been given a few quick answers in a phone call.

The pay cuts everyone is referring to are to the existing Transcend employees, not the MTs from the MDI merger.  Nothing will change with us until January 1st.  The answers you received in that phone call only apply until January 1st.  After that, we're fair game for pay cuts.

I'm looking today, too!  I've had enough of sitting around hoping and praying for something good to come out of this.  If I jump the gun and lose 1 or 2 cents per line, at least I'll still have my sanity.  I have a feeling though, if I stay, I'll lose much more than 1 or 2 cents a line with Transcend.

This was a very stupid move on Transcend's part.  If they were going to do pay cuts, it would have been smarter for them to wait until after January 1st.  They've just given us a sneak preview of how they treat their employees.

I think the accidental memo proves a whole of it goes

which just proves further that the other companies really have NOT tried and can't be bothered. n

This link proves EMR is NOT taking off

I love this thread because it proves why I say
I guarantee those who are stating they want to strike and encouraging others have other means to support themselves or are doing well financially.

You can't get any 2 MTs to agree on how to handle any problem, nor what the problem is, nor what the future realistically is.

Just proves my point.

Re-read my post - that was my point! nm
x
You missed the whole point of my post. NM

You missed the point of the post
The writer was asking you why you don't simply get another job (or a second one)... Unless you are new to this biz, you have to know to diversify and have more than one job at all times.

Doesn't mean I don't sympathize - and I speak from experience. Rad is all I do and I wouldn't dream of being without a back up at all times.

I agree with your post, but I still want to point out
that it is me (and the ones who stood with me) who came out as the winners in this argument.

I corrected definitely wrong grammar (10 times the same mistake in 1 post) and I was NOT nit-picking, whereas I was consequently singled out and nit-picked on by questioning my style, whereas BOTH versions are acceptable.

I can with certainty say that posters who are 100% against me and even started bad-mouthing me, although I corrected righfully wrong grammar, are the MTs with the bad grammar and spelling, refusing to admit their mistakes and should therefore NOT be MTs, because they have generally bad morals.
At this point MQ only has 20% reduction in line rate for VR. (sm)
I know that could change, but it sure seems a lot better than so many companies who are offering half of the normal line count for VR.

There may be things I don't like about MQ, but this has to be considered a plus.
Not to belabor a point already made, but would you like a 15-line...
discourse on the difference between a hyphen and apostrophe? Does that really make your post more or less valid? I try to represent myself my best at all times, but I make mistakes, too. I have never had a breakdown to that degree over an inappropriate apostrophe or seen anyone else go over the edge over punctuation. Please relax.

Comprende?????!!!?????
You miss the point and the irony of your post!
They are mass hiring still and have NO work. The future is the future, and now is now. I certainly think it is unethical at the very least to continue to hire MTs when the ones who are there are scrambling for a job or 2. No matter now nicey-nice they may be, that is NOT nice, no matter how you slice it. They have no right to be hiring with work shortages, unless they state that up front, which, of course, they do not!
You totally missed the point of my post.
You just restated my point. The above poster is lucky that she started at 0.095 cpl. That has not been my experience. But I am thrilled to be working at 7 cpl. As I stated before, even at 7 cpl, I make more money than I ever did at any other job. I currently making over $17 an hour at 7 cpl and my pay keeps increasing each month as I get better on my account, so I am not complaining. No need to get down on me when you clearly misunderstood my post.
Your post makes my point. If IC, company is NOT
x
Well, yes. But my point is the OP said wanted people to post

positive experiences with Focus.  I've seen other posts like this where a person will ask about a specific MTSO and say something like just good things or no negative posts please.

It just strikes me as looking at the world through rose colored glasses.  How can you make an informed decision if you only consider one side of an argument?  It's just silly.  Why bother to ask any questions at all?  Just take the job and be done with it.  People take time to answer questions honestly here and try to help out fellow MTs so they don't make the same mistakes we've made and what thanks do we get?

Pollyannas like the OP who just wants to hear the good.

Now that was uncalled for...
I have not had the first personality problem with anyone at QT. Everyone is always courteous...well, there is one, but it is not the owner (s), there is a QA person who can be abrasive...anyway your comment does not fit in with my original question or the discussion concerning where QT is, just sour grapes.
That's uncalled for...
I've only been reading these boards for a little while, but I've quickly realized that this is NOT the place to come looking for support or sympathy. As a newbie I wouldn't dare post after reading the attacks on other newbies. Why is everyone so angry?
I think the point was to POST names of good companies for all MTs to see,
x
You missed my point in jobs knockin post and the
you want.  If you like MTSO you are with now, get more work from there.  If not go after what you want with different MTSO, different job, whatever.  Whats the big deal with askin for more work with MTSO you are with, if you like them.  No different that asking to work for (by applying to) any other MTSO. A real pro knows to get proactive and steer you life in the direction you want it to go.
EXCELLENT post. Thank you for a balanced point of view. nm

Yes. At what amounts to a lesser line rate, which is the MAIN point.
I'm sure we will see future downward revisions in this plan as well. All companies do it, so why shouldn't WX?
That was rude and uncalled for!! nm
x
Not uncalled for - just means sm
If the person had problems there, maybe they were wrong for the company. Just like MTs are picky about companies, companies have a right to be picky with MTs. To many of us forget that we are MTs plain and simple, we are not the boss, our job is to do our work - not analyze everyone else as to whether they are doing their job the way we would if we were in their shoes. The more we just shut up and type, the more happy we will be because we will make more $$ and will be treated better. I say this from experience, not because I'm being uncalled for.
Totally uncalled for
Well, I think you do mean to be nasty and rude. Why the heck else would you post a comment like that?  Let me guess your next post will inform us all how you type 900 lines per hour. I cannot believe that people like you have to post such rude statements to puff yourself up!
Jesus doesnt post on this board. No point in asking Him any questions here.
x
Try re-reading the original post...you're missing the point

That was exceptionally rude and uncalled for!
But probably true!  Though from the work I've seen from MTs left at the Evil Q, maybe not!  That's why there are still folks left in the cult, isn't it?  No one else will have you.  Sad...
I also found that remark uncalled for
It is my personal opinion that QA is essential. On the very rare occasions I receive a comment from QA, it is accepted by me wholeheartedly and I put in the extra effort to be more attentive to what I'm doing.

I feel a lot of MTs have it in their mindset that are inferior to QA. Then there are others who absolutely cannot take constructive criticism well and get on the defense if an error is found. These are both wrong attitudes. QA is just another set of ears to help out.
Only person I saw spewing venom was you. Such personal attacks are uncalled for. nm

I agree with all of your post except the last line!
It means they do not have control of their money, will probably never be satisfied with their work and may have garnishments and other legal issues for me to have to contend with.

Your credit score is a very good indicator of how responsible you are.

Her post says the 9 cpl is per line (no mention of) - sm
gross character, but that the 8 cpl is for gross character line. So on that info. alone, I'd go with the 9 cpl, as it appears to include spaces (which it should).
companies that do not post line rate...
In some of these postings (I'm talking mostly about the big nationals here), the recruiters spend LOTS of time talking about what they have to offer but are noticeably silent about line rate. If a company has so much to offer, it should be proud of the line rate it is offering. It always seems like they are trying to rope me in in some way & then will spring the bad news on me once they have a captive audience, like a bunch of used car salesmen.

If I don't see a line rate next to pay/compensation I just substitute embarrassingly low & move on to the next listing.

I've had the thought that the listings should be divided into Big National and MTSO --- and within that, willing to show line rate and not willing to show line rate.

Anyone else?
Hmm, post is about skewed line counts. Could that
x
Before you knock the MT, check line #6 of your OWN post..nm

If you're referring to the 20K-line post, I am NOT mgmt...sm
I make this type of line count because I'm willing to work on different accounts and work extra when the need arises. I LIKE paying my bills, so I am flexible - and that, in this day and age, is on of the real keys. Nothing is as it used to be when work was consistent and pay was better, but I need to pay the bills. I have a great communication with my supervisor, and that is another key. If you don't talk to somebody about your problems or lack of work of whatever, it cannot be fixed. I don't care if I have to learn every acct the company has - I'm going to do that, because it will ensure that I can maintain a good line count at the end of the payroll period, thereby affording me a better check.

The basic fact is that working for a company is no different than any other aspect of your life. If it's not working for you, then you MUST make a change. Complaining about something will not change it - and ultimately you will spend your life feeling miserable - and trying to make other people feel miserable, too. I choose the opposite.

I've been at a multitude of other nationals and, for me and for now, this IS the company that I'm happy with and with whom I intend to stay.

You can go ahead and flame away - 'cause while you're sitting here typing nasty responses, accusing me of being mgmt, or making negative responses about Transcend, I'm working away. Now if that sounds "condescending" to you, TOUGH!
Post from May said they still use DOS and dial-up modem, need a 2nd line, dock U for errors, and
s
Post from June 2006 said the ESL load was very heavy and you needed a Cphone & 2nd line. Used to
s
Excellent point, and point in case
look at the charlatan christian in the
Whitehouse who uses religion to push his agenda...

Christian IS as Christian DOES...
I understand your point, my point is why can't MTs and QA work together..
being QA doesn't mean you are above everyone else, you are just an extra set of ears...and why do so many MTs take offense to QA??? That is my point...you made have had bad experiences in the past with QA but not all QA are bad...
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.

1600 is not a fair minimum requirement.  Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

Means a line is a line is a line, even if it only has one word on the line
it is considered a line.
Actually, I can see your point AND the opposing point
.
My post should say the post above not the post below, Sheryl's post to be specific. nm
nm
"a line is a line" means gross line.
Gross line is a line, no matter how long or short.
Yes to old reports! Their ExText has all the regular functions except line counts are done on line
s
Thanks for the info! Do you *feel* like you make more with a gross line v. character line? (nm)

Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Keystrokes has very few accts on line using ExText. Most use Cphones/2nd line. Lots of Rad
s
Could someone help me with the figuring out of gross line versus character line? sm
I have generally been paid by character line, 65-character line.  Now, I have had job opportunities offering to pay gross line but it like 3 cents cheaper than what I am being paid now.  A few places I have read that gross line is MUCH better, but is it much better if the pay is so much lower?  Please explain how it works or equals out.  This position has offered me 6 cents per gross line - what would that equal out to in character lines?  Thanks...so confused...
Spaces are not taken into account with gross lines....a line is a line...sm

if there seven words on a line.

or two

one

or a full line of typing...all of the companies that I have worked for define a gross line as 1 inch margins, 12 pt courier font....does not matter what we type in margins or font.....we convert all reports to the 1 inch margins and courier 12 font and then count the lines.  not the blank spaces between the lines.

Hope this helps.
