The platform used to be Apex. The worst thing I have EVER worked on.

I quit after a few days of struggling with that garbage. I made like $9 in two days LOL. I just remember typing a half hour only to get 30 lines and it was like over a full page of text. I'd say rip off...

APEX PLATFORM
Can anyone provide me with insight on how to make good line counts on this platform.   I have been working on this platform for more than 2 weeks and I can't get above 135 lines/hour as opposed to doing over 200 lines in my previous position.   If I can't get any better, I will be quitting.  Thanks for your input.
Transolutions Apex platform

I was just wondering if any Transolutions people here use Apex?  My account is moving over next week, and I have heard only a little feedback here and there.  Any opinions from users of this platform would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Platform (apex) has problems SM
Hi there:
I have worked at Transolutions for almost 6 months. I wanted somewhere I could work for less than fulltime and get benefits.

The PTO is not bad at all (2 weeks of vacation a year, work half-day 3 of 6 holidays, other 3 are PTO, plus a week of sick leave and 1 personal time day.

The health and dental benefits for me are not quite as good. I live in a rather small city and if I ever needed to go the hospital I would have to travel 80 miles, same for in-plan dentist. If you live in a larger city you might have better coverage.

The company is small, around 180 transcriptionists. So you get lots of personal attention (customer support knows you by name). QA is not too bad. Management seems fine so far.

The real downside is their platform. Their new Internet based platform is called Apex. There are major performance issues, with it being impossible to transcribe while downloading (it freezes while downloading), freezing even when not downloading, just plain downtime from servers down and what not, disconnecting if there is any fluctuation in your internet service.

There are also several flaws in the program itself: Autocorrect glossary will not accept a 2 word abbreviation (i.e., doe snot to does not). You cannot add your autocorrect glossary from spell check. Spell check suggestions are usually useless. The program doesn't automatically spell check on download. Find & replace doesn't work at all. No change all option on spell checker. Slowing down or speeding up the sound drastically distorts voice. Work types are listed in no particular order (makes it fun to search through 40 different ones if you need to change). Physicians listed in database without their specialties. There is also no way to review past jobs, voice or text.
Apex platform leaves a lot to be desired
I couldn't make any lines on it.  Feel free to email me if you want more details.  They do seem to be nice people.
Be wary of their platform. If it's Apex, I'd run. No money to be made there.
I would do whole pages and only end up with like 30 lines. No thanks. I would have starved at that rate and it could be their line counting system too. They do it based on only black visible lines which obviously means no spaces. Good luck though. If I remember right, they send you the footpedal but it's been a while.
Worked on Apex, horrible..
As far as I know Transolutions is the only one that uses it. Worst platform I ever worked on. It is very difficult to get a good line count so you aren't the only one. Lots of other gliches with them also, quit after 2 weeks, making twice with another MTSO. Good luck!
Is Apex an internet word-based platform? Havent heard of it...
x
Yes. Not the best but not the worst. The best thing is that I do not
run out of work, and I am a high producer. That is very important to me.
The worst thing is that most of these SM
companies actually work to hire and keep the 2nd set--the ones who really don't want to be there.  The rest of us, well we can hit the road if we don't like it--that's why we have to hop around so much.
The platform is one of the worst

go down.  If you need help with tech support, you  have to email them and it takes hours, sometimes days for them to get back to you.  Then sometimes your report does not show up on the line counter and you have to notify tech to get paid, because somehow it did not go through and another MT typed the same report.

Any account you go on will eventually be on VR, and they only pay half  your line rate, the standard is 4 cpl for VR.  The program is not user friendly.

No matter what they tell you when they  hire you, they will eventually put your account on VR, and it can take months and months to get it down because the system does not seem to learn.  Also, my training, well they kind of throw you to the wolves.

Also no production incentive, etc.  On VR, it can take longer to edit the report than to type it.  You can expect your checks to drop when they switch you to VR.  All they will tell you is to be patient and it is a learning curve, keep trying, etc., etc., etc.  In the meantime, your bills get behind, you can't afford things.

I am sorry I went with this company and am hoping to get out.

The worst part about the whole thing
was that SHE was the person who called me up to ask me why I was quitting after I had sent her the email with my resignation. Of course, I just made up something because I could not tell her that SHE was the reason I was leaving. I was hoping like crazy that someone else was going to call me to ask me why I was leaving, but only she contacted me.
Cant that be done on any platform though. Why does it seem DQS is the worst. Is that why companies
buy this platform.  I wonder if you asked a company about it if they would be honest about every little thing they do to take away lines.  I only know for a fact that it reduced my lines tremendously going from a DOS program to DQS on the same account with the same dictators.
If that is the worst thing Spheris did, I happy as a pig
xx
ESL's are killer, worst I ever worked on SM
Disagree about email. They leave you alone to do horrible work.
Worst company I ever worked for.
Sounds files are horrific, worst ESLs ever (and I'm very good with ESLs and do greater than 85% ESL), all kinds of internal problems, etc.   If you look back for previous posts you do find an occasional good post about them, but you'll find 10 bad ones for 1 good one.   There have even been people who ignored all the bad comments and went to work for them only to come back here and post that the bad posts were right and they were sorry they didn't heed them.    There is always work because there is such a turnover in MTs.   I also worked in QA and was offered a management position with them and the quality of the work I saw was so bad that I had to pretty much retype every file.
I second that-worst company I ever worked for also..nm
nm
DSG is one of the worst companies I have worked for
and I think they have a very high turnover rate. I did not even get my start-up paperwork for 3 weeks and I honestly feel this is because they have so many people quit the first 2 weeks they wait to see if you make it that far before they bother mailing out the package to you! I lasted 4 months - I was absolutely desperate or would have quit sooner. Their accounts are absolutely horrible, management is the worst I have ever seen - do not answer emails, demand you be on IM but only to IM you - never to answer an important question, if you bring up a legitimate question on an account specific they ignore you as if not important, inconsistent as heck on the account specifics, ask if they can call you and then finally call 2-3 days later, make a huge ordeal about minor things. Only thing they have going for them is the platform - other than that they pretty much are a horrible, horrible company and I would steer clear of them seriously.
Worst company I have ever worked for
I recently worked for Central Transcription Services (CTS) out of Michigan.  My account manager was great.  The pay was great - when I finally got it.  I don't know if they have cash flow problems or just poor management, but they NEVER  paid on time.  My last check there was 12 days late, which is why it was my last check....I quit!
Worst place I ever worked. Much of the same
info in the archives.  There is a reason they are constantly hiring and new accounts isn't one of them.
I have worked for a lot of companies and can tell you this has the worst mgmt of sm
any company I know. They are unprofessional and they do not know how to manage.  They are running around like chickens with their heads chopped off, play people against each other (watch behind you if you go there) and you really do not want to go there.  They do hire outside the U.S., almost everywhere actually-not just India, the Phillippines, but as far away as Australia. Their tech support is bad and the company could care less about those that work for them.  On an up note, they pay on time. That's all I can say about them that is good.  You would do better working for any other service that is around than working for them.
Yes, and it's the absolute worst. I've worked on a

POLL:Worst company you ever worked for and why?

nm

CBay is the worst place i EVER worked.
Liars and thieves. I do not like to be lied to and they did, all the time.
Worst on-line company ever worked for
There is NO communication for MTs, between supervisors, QA, or anyone else. Company is highly secretive. QA is very rude!!! Receiving paychecks is consistently late. I would not advise working there for anyone.
Absolutely the worst company I have worked for. SM
Extremely disorganized, outdated platform (in terms of MedRiteXL), unprofessional management.
I worked for this company and it was the worst experience of my career.
I would advise you to search the archives on this board. You will be able to make your own decision based on that info.
Worst place I've ever worked. I hear a lot about

a better than average pay, but no one ever says what it is.  If you do QA they need to pay hourly.  When I was QA I was better off retyping the reports.

They use Start/Start and require you to purchase it.  When I worked there they got a $20 discount if you told the company you worked for SoftScript, not sure if still that way.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, but I do still have my foot pedal and software if you're interested.

Getting the worst shift and worst work are two different things...
If you are new, you may not get the best shift, but everyone should share in the difficult work. No one person should be stuck with ESLs because they are new. Maybe the new hires won't get first pick of holidays...things like that, but shouldn't get stuck with all ESLs. Doesn't make sense.
You know, it would be one thing if VR ACTUALLY WORKED

Yes, it seems to be true that SOME VR is better than others, especially when it first started out.  However, from what I have seen these days, most is GARBAGE.  Especially if it is being trained by the numerous Newbies/ILPs on it now.  VR is just an excuse to maximize the profits of the MTSOs in these tough economic times by forcing the MT to take YET ANOTHER WAGE CUT.  Let's take my MTSO as an example:  Dictaphone is maybe paying them 12 cpl.  They are paying the MTs 8 CPL.  Imagine how much more of a profit they would make if they could get us to work for 4 cpl on VR.  Hey, you do the math.

A disclaimer:  I am just using the above figures as an example based on my years in this biz.  I have no idea what payment Dictaphone has contracted with the MTSO.  So, please, no messages about how I don't know what I am talking about, that isn't the rate they get, blah blah blah.  That isn't the subject here.  The RIPOFF that is VR is the subject here.

I worked QA on that platform and they had ...
just updated it. It is the WORST platform I ever worked on. I'm so glad I moved on. I am now working for the best company - I love my job now.
I worked for this company. The one thing they do have
Maybe you should ask for backup accounts, more than 1. They never run out of work, at least they didn't when I worked there 6 months ago. On the other hand, they have been hiring a lot lately. Can't hurt to ask for a backup.
depends on what platform you worked on

They arent all great, but they arent all bad.   When did you do your time there?

I have worked on this platform for years at MQ
and have not found this to be true at all. If you are going with MQ, just know that you do not get paid for the demographic info a/k/a ADT info.

I love DQS and have found my line counts to be accurate.
Has anyone worked with Iscriptor platform?
Does Iscriptor only work with ExpressScribe voice player?  I have had problems getting ExpressScribe to work the way I would like it to.  When I let up on the foot pedal, I would like the recording to back up a few words rather than just picking up where it left off or even moving ahead a little.  Any advice?
Not sure if related but I worked on Neo PLATFORM,
x
the platform I worked on was sten-tel
still have the bookmarks - must be a few different ones that they use.
I never, ever heard of such a thing, even when I worked in-house.
nm
I have worked at Webmedx for 5 years now. The platform sm
issues are continually being worked on. I think the platform is slow when work gets low. Very flexible place to work. You get 12 hours to do your 7 or 8 hour day (35 hr/week is full time with benefits). I like the ShortHand and the platform, very user friendly, very, very simple to learn. The accounts I do are high ESL but that's fine by me. I have an ear for them, so not too much of a problem. My boss is wonderful, the QA folks are very helpful, and tech services can't be better, in my opinion. Hope this helps.
Have any of you ever worked with EXText and RISS rad platform?
Very interested in pros/cons of the RISS and how it interfaces with EXText. Please feel free to email if you prefer
I agree. Extext is the platform I've ever worked with. nm
x
That is who I meant, worked for them years ago. Like there platform, so simple.
nm
Worst of the worst...I agree with RUN
Please - don't learn the hard way!  You will only waste your time and run the risk of not making anything to boot unless you have a relative who is a big city lawyer.  Under the sugar coating is something very bitter.
apex = horrible
nm
Apex is awful
I just quit working for a company that I otherwise loved because of Apex. It does EAT reports. Run away!!
Apex/Rad editor

Is 4 cpl reasonable pay for Rad Editor requiring 10 yrs exp?  Seems low to me.  Anybody know anything about Apex Radiology?

Transolutions Apex
Do you have high-speed DSL or cable? If so, I don't think you will have many problems. There are some bugs to work out, but they are constantly working on them and will have them figured out soon enough.

APEX IS AWFUL
Numerous problems each and every day. Constantly calling support.
The Apex Transolutions uses
is a proprietary system developed in house.
Used to be Apex or something. Bad program!!!!

It's still Apex and it still stinks sm
I'm hoping to leave there this week.  It is Apex and it really is the pits.  There is nothing MT friendly about it.  I also came to realize they only have 1 account so with that always running low there isn't much hope for making a living there.
Apex is HORRIBLE &

you have to agree not to do any Java updates and keep your system bogged down at 5.0 (Java now at 6.11).  It makes your whole computer slow, as well.  I don't think the dictators were too bad on the account I was on (maybe 20% were horrible), but we did have our share of cherry-pickers that would leave only the bad ones when we were low on work.

he owner is nice.  The office folks are nice.  QA can be a little crochety.  The thing that irritated me the most was all the formatting rules and how the rules constantly changed. Nitpicky stuff.  Also having to constantly clear your file cache and the Apex POS being constantly down.  Junk!

If you quit, remember to update your Java & your computer will be normal again.
