Their test didn't involve all that dictation in the past. Wonder why the change? nm

Just took the test myself. No actual dictation to transcribe. Just a written test.
For 13 cpl, I might do it if the dictators aren't a total horror.
Anything on Transrx, before I get to this long dictation for test.
xx
Sure, but nobody can understand the Ortho test dictation, no pedal, no speed control...sm
...
If you have not passed the ortho test in the past 30 days and want to sm
know your errors, please email KeystrokesHR@aol.com and ask for the results. We have re-evaluated the procedure that we have had for the past 5 years and agree that this can be sent to those requesting the results. The test is harder than it seems; the coordinator is looking for very specific things and requires 100% to hire someone. Please send an email requesting this and we will get it to you right away.
I didn't take the test! LOL I had to
deal with her on another issue and it put her in an uncomfortable position. She certainly didn't know how to handle it then and her unprofessional claws came out! LOL

I didn't even test for KS rad
I got a call describing the position, then welcome to Keystrokes. So far there's not enough work, I'm begging for more and worried about tiny paycheck. Reserving opinion about company for now.
I had to test but I didn't think it was too bad...
nm
I didn't have to pay to test. sm
only thing so far that might run people off is that there MTs are overseas.
Sorry. I didn't have to take the test. nm

I didn't even get to test, they had an SM
ad, I applied.  I have 15 years of exp., CMT to boot.  Not a peep from them.
I didn't have to test so I'm not sure...wish I could be of more help!
.
Well, if you didn't take the test it's your loss...sm
they are still the best company to work for. You obviously didn't take into consideration their quarterly bonus info either.
Well, did you tell them you got thrown off and didn't even get to take the test?
x
Now I'm glad I didn't do so well on the test.
.
I didn't have to test and I can't remember if they
called the same day or the next day.
I didn't test because rate was low for me, but
Owner was just using AOL for ISP, so I'm betting they don't have their own website. Is it supposedly their site or a testing site such as mttest.com ??

I do know they are a legit company and phone numbers were on emails so maybe you can call and find out what's up with the test. Good luck! I've actually heard it's a decent place, but I couldn't take that much of a drop in pay, unfortunately.
That test was so easy. If you didn't know
 - you shouldn't be an MT.  They were very BASIC questions that you learn in Transcription 101.
Thanks! I was surprised I didn't have to test, but that obviously is okay with me. sm

I have seen many positive posts about the company, and I was impressed by the things I was told by the recruiter.  Thanks again for the welcome!

I didn't fail the test, but... sm
you would not have failed for blanks. In fact, they told me to use blanks if I needed to when I took it because they would not count off for blanks but would surely count off for an incorrect word or guess. I'm sorry you didn't pass, but don't give up. I think you can retest again in 6 months. I happen to think that Webmedx would be worth another testing because it is a good company.
What's the matter? Didn't pass the test?
Can't pass a test, you don't get the job.
I took the Ortho test and didn't have a problem with it..
maybe it was a different test than your family members but no trouble here...
They didn't test me; I just had a nice long

chat with their recruiter.  Very casual and enjoyable.  She is a nice lady, funny, and enthusiastic about transcription.  As far as equipment, if you need a Lanier they will rent it to you.  They sent me a foot pedal for the internet account I occasionally typed, no rent required on that.  I don't know the exact computer requirements but Bayscribe doesn't call for a supercomputer by any means.  Hope I have been helpful.

I didn't have any trouble with the test after I got used to the fact sm

that I couldn't use my foot pedal.  The first and the third parts were easy, but I couldn't hear a few spots in the second dictation and had to leave blanks, but I guess that was okay because I apparently passed.

Maybe give it another try -- don't let the no foot pedal thing spook you.

RN versus MT, which would involve the most money to be made. I am not sure if I want to go into RN
nursing or remain an MT.  I wonder which one pays best?
You could threaten to involve the media in their area.

I don't know what they wanted to know. I didn't take the test. I felt it was invasion of pr
nm
I didn't receive a score but the test was hard.

I'm almost afraid to ask what I got.

Honestly, I've been hired by companies that didn't test me.
I did not like those jobs one bit.  You start out immediately being stressed because they're out of TAT and desperate for people.  The work quality was terrible and I mean worse than any other place I've ever worked.  With your CMT credential, I don't think you'd have a problem finding a decent job.
Guess I didn't. Heard back within a day of taking the test, sm
but that was several years ago.  Depends on current recruiters, I guess.
A company sounds strange because you didn't pass their test? SM
I LIKE working for a company that puts quality over everything else.
No, don't feel bad - I didn't pass the editing test, either, to my shock! ;) nm

I got 100% on the phone interview, and thought the on-line test was easy, but they still didn't h

I took a test for a company and my foot pedal would work with the test and I had keep going back
over the dictation time and again to get all the words because I couldnt stop and start it by the foot pedal.  What can I do about this.
I just took the test today - thought it was a great test of MT skills.

Nothing will change unless we make it change..SM
As long as we accept the exploitation that this MT profession has reduced us to, it will keep going on.  The top of this is the outsourcing.... well, get your legislators involved....better yet, the MEDIA.  How many patients know their private medical information is being outsourced to halfway around the world? The squeeky wheel gets the grease.  Do the patients know that their info won't be sold by some unscrupulous MT (halfway around the globe) to insurance companies, etc., making all this Medical records privacy a joke. It's not just our T-shirts being made in other countries; it's our most personal, private medical information, of which the public is not being made aware of.  Not to speak of undercutting out profession to the bare bone.  Granted, most US MTs are willing to work below market wage just to have a job, especially in economically-deprived areas, where outside jobs are scarce, and kids need to be fed and mortgages need to be paid.  MTSOs know this.  I'll bet they'll be the first to lobby against any action against outsourcing.  (Wouldn't you be...if you got people to work for pennies while you're raking in the big $$$'s ?  Still, notwithstanding the outsourcing problem, we're still going along with all the BS...working for pennies, whatever the client wants, he gets... ever notice how all of the MTSO flak seems to be re. unpaid work...mostly, demographic issues we're not even paid for... bec. It has to be done.. Part of the job... The client put the wrong info but we have to correct it...all unpaid work.  Just give me a job with nothing but straight transcription, w/o the unpaid/demo. flak..I'll take it even at the present, absurd pennies-per-line state of the profession.
There is no written test. Must have been a different company. I took their ortho test sm
and it was easy. You had to know your terminology but it was easy to understand AND I used my foot pedal.
Is the test through mttest.com a timed test? Thanks. nm

I didn't say I didn't care, I just don't understand
why the sudden outrage over HL offshoring.
Net Dictation
Any information on this company I cant find anything
I had some really bad dictation like that
when I had my older computer, which didn't have a sound equalizer.  Way too much time spent and way too many blanks.  I downloaded a free trial of an equalizer and - voila! I could hear!  I ended up paying about $18 after my free trial expired because it made such a difference.  E-mail if you want info.
ESL dictation
NM -- It is called being a professional. I realize that a lot of the newer MTs have not had the benefit of working in-house and having more experienced coworkers help them through this, but it is a big part of the job. I also agree with Lillybelle that there is a limit of what an MT should have to put up with. In my opinion that is when it goes to QA and becomes their problem. If you want to just be a typists and make a mediocre salary then you can due just do the gravy work and not improve your skills. But if you want to learn the job, act like a professional, and be able to demand an excellent salary for the job you due, then you need to be well rounded as an MT.
ER dictation
I'd love to find a job doing ERs, anyone know of any place that has an abundance where you could do only ERs?
I haven't gotten particularly bad dictation and
really good dictation.  I did switch from not using the quickbar to using it and I'm not sure if that's when I noticed the change or not - but it makes sense that if you are using the quickbar you are not typing out as much so you should be making MORE, not less.  Maybe I will go back to not using the quickbar and see if I make more again, but I don't really think that's it.  Something's funky is all I know.  If I could make $30 an hour on a consistent basis I would be happy, but I just can't seem to do it ever anymore.
Very low pay, they want 120 minutes of dictation sm
per day. I did all ER work for overflow account, never anything else. Pay is once a month, I was IC status. Platform not very MT friendly, had to put in all headers, lots of extras.
A Station For Dictation
Does anyone have any information on company called A Station For Dictation in Pensacola, FL?
Dictation Solutions
Has anybody worked for this company out of Houston, Texas?
I Know Med dictation platform
Has anyone used this platform?  If so, what did you think of it?
Dictation Solutions
I work there PT.  Great MTSO to work for.  Different accounts have different platforms and different pay scale.  Always paid on time and pay depends on the account.   I don't know anything about the pain management acct though.
Lanier at MDI is just for the dictation...sm

It connects to your telephone.  If you only have 1 phone line, it will stay busy the entire time you are connected, you cannot use call waiting.  You also pay the long distance.  The Lanier gives you the voice to type and you type the reports on your computer in the Bayscribe program which means you have to connect to that website on the internet.  Bayscribe does not fill in the Lanier screen info, job numbers, dates, etc.  You have to do that manually.  You do not have access to other reports, only ones you have done previously and you cannot access even that when you are in a report (unless you go out and come back and restore the report as if the power went off, which is way too much trouble).

One good thing is that if you have another phone line you could use dial up if you don't have DSL or cable.

Pay is by the minute of dictation.

There is a company on the Job Seekers board that states that the pay is by the minute of dictation.  I have never heard of this, has anyone else?
