Platform bad, toggling between multiple screens, never got feedback
p
I highly doubt that. This is obviously a rumor. She is much too busy to bother. nm
nm
That happened to me numerous times with numerous companies. sm
I understand how you feel and what you are going through. I have been there myself many times. It is very frustrating. Keep your chin up and keep looking. There are companies out there where you can just do OP Reports, but you need to find them. Tomorrow will be brighter!

It is exhausting, but you will find a perfect fit soon enough.
She/they were emailed numerous times by numerous MTs
Welcoming emails and actually responding to those emails are apparently two entirely different things.

Busy does not mean disorganized. I would rather work for a busy company sm
than one with no work. I started with Keystrokes 3 months ago and it is the best thing I ever did. I have a steady paycheck and plenty of work.
Demo screens
For starters, there is way too much information you have to put into the demographics field, which slows you down considerably.  Another thing is over 25 pages worth of account specifics that are you HAVE to memorize all while having to learn another account, which has over 16 pages of account specifics to memorize.  A lot of the things you have to put in the demo screen could be taken care of on the other side.  Such as having to put allegies in comment sections in the demo screen that is already put in the actual document.  Just a bunch of truly nitpicky things that will drive you mad! I hope this helped.
Platform I was on had to flip thru many screens for
q
Exactly...too much flipping back and forth through screens, schedules, faxes....
and for what? A 10-line note about somebodies out of control diabetes or hypertension. It takes longer to fill in the DI screen than to type the note. I stayed for about 9 months because of the easy dictators, but found it was dulling my acute care skills so I left. I asked to change accounts, the answer was, no. I am MUCH happier where I am now.
I didn't try again, but once you got a few screens in, it asked for a $25 fee to your charge card
s
Had to toggle between many screens, no support or qa to speak ofl they dock $10 per document
;p
I much prefer Bayscribe. No messing around with multiple screens, doc lookup right there, etc.
It's very convenient to use. ExText seemed much bulkier and much slower to me.
If it's Apex, steer clear. I was on it with another company. It eats reports. Too many screens. s
The spellchecker doesn't work and it was REALLY hard to get a decent line count with it. It's also not compatible with too many expanders.
I think there are numerous "nm"
that come on here. How do we know who is who?
numerous accounts
Yes - I definitely have the same problem. I have a few different accounts, all with different styles (i.e. DO NOT number medications, number medications always, or number medications only if they say it). Stuff like that and it is very hard to keep them all straight...
KS has numerous accounts on....sm
many different platforms so I don't see how this question can honestly be answered. And there's no way of knowing which accounts they are hiring for until the time that you actually talk to the recruiter/HR.

I also see how one MT will love a platform that makes another MT pull their hair out!

So bottom line is, I don't think there is a definitive answer to the question!
I see the numerous complaints on here
This is pertaining to work, not my home life but pretty much of a recluse because that is how I like it, love being able to do what I want and when I want. People gripe on here about their companies. I like the place I work for, have no complaints. Most can say we are all in this together. Not me. Others can get lawsuits, try to hold MTSOs responsible for every little thing going wrong in their lives, have at it. Ok, I don’t really live for myself, I have animals around here also that I care for, how about that? Hubs is pretty special also but other than that, work is way down on my priority list.
Numerous posts below and in the last few weeks.

There is message board made of Spheris employees, which now has recruiters from Webmedx on encouraging people to quit Spheris. Believe me, Spheris is no bed of roses, but going on another company's board is hitting pretty low.
Precyse offshores, pay is based on numerous

things - years of experience, shift, CMT, etc.   Pay is average.

I don't know anything about the other company.

Heartland has lost numerous accounts before
nothing new! I trained on new accounts and then was told that a) they went to India because they could keep up with TAT and b) they no longer have that account..... time to start looking!
Scroll down and read the numerous posts over the
last week or so.  Also dozens of posts in the archives.
YES! I will get numerous reports from the same ugly dictator

8 times in one night -- these H&P's being 6 plus hours old, and each dictated with plenty of time in between, my knowing that there were other dictators dictating in between his -- so know that they have been holding them for me after the day shift gets off. They don't delay H&P's getting out for this many hours, so it is so very obvious what is taking place. I don't like companies manipulating the system for their favorites.

I absolutely despise this practice by a company.

Funny, I've been there 8 yrs and thru numerous new accounts sm
and I'm STILL HERE WORKING FULL-TIME! I know last year there was a problem with hiring too many people before a couple of accounts started, but it isn't like that now.
Numerous times I have been told our wages are lower because
we are now competing with (almost third-world) countries, who think 2 and 3 cents a line is a LOT. Therefore, to stay competitive, we must now work for a lower wage.

There are times there have been actual threats that we would lose our accounts, if we do not comply as hospitals would just take their accounts overseas.

Leaves a lot of room for corruption, i.e., whether it is true the hospitals would actually go that route (I think they might, considering CBay and how huge they are) or whether it is the MTSO duping us into accepting lower pay.

We are in a similar situation as in the 1800s (Funny you can almost substitute these people with 'MTs' and 'India', if you know what I mean:

(From Wikipedia) ...between 1830 and 1850, as the Industrial Revolution gave way to the Second Industrial Revolution, sweatshop production of inexpensive clothing displaced members of the tailors guild, and replaced them with lower-skilled workers performing piece work at lower wages and in inferior conditions. The trend away from tailors was accelerated by the advent of a practical, foot-powered sewing machine in 1846.

The terms sweater for the middleman and sweating system for the process of subcontracting piecework were used in early critiques like Charles Kingsley's Cheap Clothes and Nasty, written in 1850. The workplaces created for the sweating system were called sweatshops, and variously comprised workplaces of only a few workers, or as many as 100 or more.

In the sweatshop of 1850, the role of the sweater as middleman and subcontractor (or sub-subcontractor) was considered key, because he served to keep workers isolated in small workshops. This isolation made workers unsure of their supply of work, and unable to organize against their true employer through collective bargaining. Instead, tailors or other clothing retailers, would subcontract tasks to the sweater, who in turn might subcontract to another sweater, who would ultimately engage workers at a piece rate for each article of clothing or seam produced. Many critics asserted that the middleman made his profit by finding the most desperate workers, often women and children, who could be paid an absolute minimum. While workers who produced many pieces could earn more, less productive workers earned so little that critics termed their pay starvation wages. Employment was risky: injured or sick workers would be quickly replaced by others.

There you have it...Nothing will most likely be done until there is another type of revolution in this country.
I have been down numerous hours this year due to storms. 3 times with mandatory

There are probably lots of MTs still down due to Katrina and Rita.

Don't believe weather can't impact your life in a big way.  Be prepared to know what your options are with your job.

typos on this board are to be forgiven, but new company's numerous errors and the picture they

painted for our first impression of someone in whom we are required to put practically our entire life details in an email back to them left much to be desired in my opinion (by this MT).

Of course she will have a job. She had to get rid of yours so that they could afford to pay her!
xxx
Not only that, but who can afford them?

When I started out back in 1990, I was making 7.5 cpl and after 2 years went to a different company for 9 cpl as an employee.  We could afford to buy the books then because the cost of living was a lot less, deductions for insurance were a lot less, and even the books were a lot less.  Now people who are starting out are faced with 5 or 6 cpl as employees or 7 and 8 for IC.  How in the world can they make a living at 7 cpl for IC, let alone by all these books when the same information can be found on the internet?

I think if a person is trained correctly HOW to research, they'll be able to distinguish between the correct information and worthless information on the internet.  I think it's pretty sad that the transcription schools aren't training them properly.  For goodness sakes, I can't think of any school that wouldn't teach about chemistry profiles and doctor slang that they wouldn't know what chem-7 is.  In my opinion, that's worse than the MT who is at least willing to research using the internet.

How do you afford it?
My line rate now is higher than that as an employee.  I really don't see how I could afford to pay my own SE taxes, buy my own insurance, etc. for less than what I'm making now as an employee.  I have to be honest and say that I'm really scared about this.  I used to think that when some posted that they could make just as much money working at WalMart they were just stressed out that day.  But, I'm beginning to think they're right.  In my state (NY) our total SE taxes are 40% of our income. I honestly don't think I could afford this AND pay my bills AND buy health insurance.  I don't even know if I could afford to do this and pay my bills, even if health insurance wasn't in the equation.  Now I'm really stressed.
I can...... not everyone CAN'T afford a car....
--
Hah, some sure can afford it...sm
I wish I could show you the homes of one of the MTSOs that is discussed here often on this board, home, cars, boats, trips.  Living the good life while her MTs are struggling.
How can you afford to still be working
at that daily line count? Are you a newbie all around or just at Spheris? Great on your QA but you really need to pick up the pace or you will be moved to PT or possibly terminated.
How can an MT afford a Hummer? - nm

So true! And most of us won't be able to afford to
Unless I decide to jump off a bridge, or lie in front of a train.
1) You can't afford the BC you were diagnosed with
I have one thing to say to you that consists of 2 words and one of them starts with an F.

Go away
I WISH i could afford to do what you did that year!
Last year 'Christmas dinner' was a third of a can of cold ravioli.
I can no longer afford to do anything except
My gift-exchange days are over til i can find a REAL job. You know: one that actually pays you to do it.
Who can afford to wait that long?
No way would I take such a job - what happens if they NEVER get paid? You work for free, that's what.

It's not common at all - you'd be better of getting your own accounts!
SPI can't afford postage meter
What kind of so-called international company still licks stamps to mail paycheck stubs and doesn't use a postage meter?  I can't believe my eyes for the past few months!
Yes, I can't afford to have no work so I left TT
I dislike the turn of events as they were my favorite company. I have nothing bad to say about TT. I simply got another job.
can you afford not getting paid anymore?

Thats what it will come to.  You working and not getting paid.

I would cash the check.  if it bounces, then you have grounds to take her to court and get your money that way.  If it clears, then you are good.  I would also be reading the warning signs and just find another job.  I would not go to the docs you dictate for as it is not your place.  They really cannot do anything as long as they are getting their work done on time and having no other issues.  You will just bother them and might look like you are after their business for yourself.

But that is just my opinion.  Hope everythign works out.

Understood, but MTSO's cannot afford
to sue every poster on these boards because of their bad press, or whatever you want to call it.. defamation seems extreme, but I didn't read the comments made by the posters who are being sued. Most people here post general angst-y things about companies and if a judge were to read over the comments on this board, to get an overview of the climate and what is considered normal conversation and postings on these boards, they would probably see that this is a normal, everyday occurrence on message boards. Are they going to shut down every message board? Where would they start? As someone said, some of the angry, horrible postings in the political forums are much worse than anything said on the company forum. IMO. I believe that on these boards the MTSO's AND the MT's BOTH post angry things at times. No one is innocent here.
If you can afford to go to school, learn something else. nm

and they can afford to BUY TRANSCRIPTION SCHOOLS!!!
...and they didn't lower the cost for the HOSPITALS! They're just pocketing all the money they are making by RAPING US of our pay!!!!!

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!
I can't afford to wait for new platform
NO WORK AND OVER IT!!!!  5th week of getting less than 1k lines a day.  I started applying for other work a couple days before they dropped the bomb.  I can't afford to work here today, much less after a paycut!
I don't know how people can afford housing that costs that much!!! sm
My family lives in a 4-bedroom house with 3,000 square feet of living space (counting the basement, which is finished) and we paid $125,000 three years ago! Come to the Midwest, you can find a 2-bedroom house a heck of a lot cheaper than $600,000.
If even that much work left, and hopefully they will be able to afford aspirin. (nm)
zzzzzzs
How can an IC making 7 cpl on Emdat afford to pay taxes?
That is the offer from Allegiant.  Emdat is one of the most transcriptionist-unfriendly program going even when used properly (which most do not).  Historically, an IC was payed more, not less, than an employee since there were no benefits .... but not in the world of medical transcription.  This is getting down right nuts. Very sad.
But could you afford the ins? I had an offer from them, too. I really wanted to go but couldn't
nm
Ditto. Goose egg. Nada. Oh well, they can't afford s/m
an X-mas bonus for us, after buying that MT school, etc. :-/
I hope it gets better! Can't afford to sit here much longer with no work. nm
