They do not have to send you a 1099 for what they did NOT pay you, However,

you still need to claim what you received regardless if they send you a 1099 or not and pay your taxes accordingly.  I would report them to the IRS in either case, because I am sure you have tried to receive your past compensation without much success.

1099

You can file without a 1099 -- as long as you have invoices, etc. that you sent them or copies of checks that they paid, you just report that amount to the IRS.  You don't send in copies of the 1099 with your taxes you just report the income.  Sometimes companies do not send out 1099 and figure it is up to the IC's to keep track of and report their income.  But be sure you have copies of all invoices or billings to the company to verify what you got paid.   That is why, when an IC you should invoice or bill out what your services to the company so that YOU have a record of what you did for the company.

no, you will get a 1099

Anyone rec'd 1099 from Sten-Tel yet?

Still waiting on mine.  This is from the Sten-Tel in Massachusetts.

Also, anyone know if they are hiring?  I'm thinking about begging for my job back.

thanks.

You'll get a 1099...

As a first-time IC, you may want to get some tax preparation help because you should have some write-offs that will most likely save you money.

1099 versus W2
An IC receives a 1099. You will see your total earnings under the section called Non-employee Compensation.

I totally agree with the other poster who said you should see a tax specialist, and I don't mean H&R Block. Ask friends and family who they would recommend. Don't just choose someone out of the phone book.

I'm also recommending that you get into the habit of deducting the money to pay your taxes with every single check you receive, unless you're really good with leaving your money alone (no matter what) and can pay your taxes quarterly. Also, a lot of people have different recommendations on how much you should set aside for your taxes. It can be anywhere from 20% to 30%, depending upon where you live. Discuss this with your tax specialist.
Ditto! Also add that they ignore e-mails you send and send endless IMs!

Oh, yes, it turned out I didn't need the 1099 after all
Just as said above, when I didn't receive it my accountant just told me to get my own information together and then send the employer a letter telling them that this is how much I earned, this is how much I'm going to claim. I guess I was just letting the OP know that I knew the feeling of not getting a 1099.

To the other poster above, I did get out of there as soon as I could. It was a local MTSO and at that point I was new and even now I didn't want to work for the Nationals so I stayed. The pay was good and as an IC I made my own hours. The only problem basically was the 1099 situation.
1099 Form amount
Isn't the amount $600.00? If you make that amount or more then you must be sent a 1099 form? I do have records of all of my earnings that I made last year. I made a little over $3,000.00 with this company. It was not that much, but enough to report in.
Has anyone who worked for CorTmedical in 2006 gotten their 1099 yet?
I know that a lot of us were burned last year by this company.  I am wondering if they are going to at least send the 1099 for what they should have paid us.  I am wondering if they do not send it, how am I going to claim what they did not pay me as a loss?  Thanks to all, hope everyone has found something better since that disaster.
Sudden change in 1099 status?
why would a company after YEARS of having IC's suddenly push everyone into an employee status?  Does this have anything to do with trying to make the company less likely to be unionized???  Or is there something else entirely going on that Im missing all the way around?
Still have not received 1099 form from previous employer!

Am I not correct that employeers are supposed to send out 1099 forms by the 31st of January?  I quit a company back in May of 2007 and I still have not yet received a form.  I guess I should contact these people?  You would think they would have sent it to me by now!  It's frustrating having to contact old employers because you really do not want to have to be bothered by them anymore!

Agree with Patti. MTOS sends 1099 as courtesy,

Well if you don't want it, send it to me! Better than nothing. nm

I would send a
certified letter, the kind that they have to sign for from the post office. Just to cyb ;-)
I can't say how much they send
to India, but they did state they are sending some there, they never said how much and that it was a pilot program.  They do use a lot of VR now.  I did not like their program and left recently.
Can you send me one too? I am considering going with them. nm
thank you
When did you send it? nm

If you don't want it, send it to me.

Why don't they send us some of
the scores of gifts that they receive in the office?  We are the ones that make their money for them.  I don't think it is greedy at all.  It is common courtesy, something that today's MTSO's trample on. I get Xmas cards.  My kids open it for me, and then they make a joke of standing there with the card shaking it to try to get money or a gift card to fall out.  LOLOL
need you to send to another ID sm
hey Nola, I figured out why I did not get it.  Send to ccba81499@yahoo.com  thanks!!!
I am sure they will send something
They always do, just not necessarily on the exact day it may be expected. But I do have to agree, enough work would be the best thing ever!!!
Dang. Tried again and still will not send
Sorry!! Try MTspot. I am there a lot, too
How long does it take MQ to send sm
the equipment after you are hired and filled out the paperwork?
Send her to either M-TEC or Andrews.
www.mtecinc.com
www.andrewsschool.com
I send many of my things to QA
I did not mean to sound like I just ignore verbatim altogether. I just do not leave in the ridiculously obviously wrong things that is all. I do not change the text or change words around. I guess you missed my point. Yes every account is different and there are specifics I know. The doctor I was referring to about the #ing just does not know how to count; not a system like you are talking about. So never mind.
Did you have to send them back
Just asking.
I don't want to send them a resume either
At one time, some companies put out ads by recruiter and anonymous names just to see who would apply.  Those who applied and were working for this big company were immediately fired just for applying.  Watch your back!
Did not send resume, but.....sm
I did write a very polite email stating that I was not comfortable revealing my personal information to an unknown company. I included my basic credentials and asked if they wanted my resume to please email me regarding their company information.  I doubt if they'll bother, but I've made it a policy to never submit my confidential information to any company who is not willing to reveal their name.
This is exactly why I know longer send anything. nm
nm
Did they ask you to send them your resume?
I took the test today with a 96%, and immediately was asked to e-mail my resume.
send me an email
I may know of a place for you
Send an email and ask
someone in the office who does the time sheets.
only 6? i had a company send 14 !!! nm
xx
why do they ask IF we want them to send WAV player
nm
So send an e-mail saying you are going
to ER, and get a note while you are there. The problem is that this will put you out of work a while if it is broken, but there is no sense lying about it since you do need the wrist to heal.

Or else the note will explain there is no fracture or sprain and you are okay to work in __ days.
I always send an email sm
and ask all those questions before testing.  If they don't want to give me that info before hand, they aren't worth it.
Please. Yep, they picked 1 MT to send it to.

I think there are 2? send them email and ask
.Just put you message in the portion where is says Apply Now (or did you see info elsewhere?
Send the resume!
They are an honest company and have proven that time and time again. When something comes up that is a concern, they always fix it. They will not jerk you around and they certainly do not play games. They have recently grown quite rapidly and honestly I don't think they realized this was a great concern until now. They are focused on keeping both the client and the MTs happy, rare in this business. There are one or two MTs here that are out to destroy their reputation as a great company and I suppose these few will come back at my posting in their typical childish manner, but disregard them. Send the resume, you won't regret it.
Well, maybe they don't want US applicants to send pic?
Thanks for clarifying. I looked and to be honest, thought you had put the synthescribeofamerica.com link. i'm just crazy, lol.

Thanks again.
I'm so sorry. I send hugs to you. Sure
xx
Do you know of one who will send me a tape?
xx
It's always best to just send an email and let them know - regardless what day.
nm
Why don't you just send this post to TT and sm
see what their response is?  Geez, do you really think you will get any results by posting on this board? Probably not.  I have work but I work across all worktypes on 3 different accounts and flex my time if needed. Doesn't matter to me what I type as long as I have work. Ask for another account and/or more worktypes.  It may help.
Be careful who you send your
resume to. Now the troll has all your information. I do NOT send mine until I have a firm offer and have basically been hired and after I have checked THEM out. I have not had to do this for five years, but still I knew that it is not good to give yourself away like that. I wonder what they are going to do with those resumes? Maybe those who supplied resumes should find out exactly who this is in case of identity theft?
Do they ACTUALLY still send that stuff out ? sm
My goodness, I had a total of 9 full binders that I sent back when I quit. Two huge boxes with equipment, supplies, paper, binders,a total of over 250 pounds that I sent back. I felt like a big weight was off my shoulders when I left there and had no more QA issues with anyone.
It would be really nice if they would send you...sm
some kind of response. I accepted a job from my second choice employer and then got a call from my first choice employer. Of course having committed to another company, I declined the offer and regretted it later.

Even an automated response that a) we got your resume or b) we're not interested would help a lot. As it is, you just sit in limbo and figure you better take the offer you are getting versus the one you would like to have.

As you said, all you can do is keep a positive attitude and hope the good things you hear are true.
