AnyModal is alive and well and quite easy to work
with if you have an IT department on the ball enough to make it work with your regular platform. The only thing it doesn't do very well is formats, it's not much for left justifying but otherwise it actually helps with the bad dictators. Plus, it's good for a laugh now and then. I don't mind it anymore. I mind the low pay rate but if I can get 3200-3500 lines a day on it, I can pay bills. The first 6 months we had it, it was a nightmare. Now that it's been in operation a year, it's not so bad.

The misconceptions are overwhelming, aren't they? People really do need to open their minds and their eyes and educate themselves. This is why my relatives in New Zealand and England make fun of Americans, for being too afraid to travel and enjoy the rest of the world. Guess some folks just feel safer hiding under their little rocks at home waiting for the big, bad Muslims to come and get them. So sad.
Can you imagine if our ancestors had been too afraid to come to America? My family arrived in 1640, and raised tobacco in the original Jamestown settlement. Hardly a safe haven back then. Thank goodness I come from such stock. I've enjoyed visits to so many different places, met so many different cultures, it makes me sad for people who are scared into the corner by boogie-men.
Anyway, this is a fine opportunity for the right person. Racists and bigots need not apply.

Bea! Stop beating yourself up. This company sounds like the worst - they did you a favor.
I've been doing Radiology for 20 years - most decent companies don't force you to take these ridiculous tests which do *not* gauge true skills...
Never take a timed test - most don't allow you to correct mistakes except for on the word you are *on* and trust me THAT will slow you down.
Keep looking - decent companies are still out there, although I strongly suggest you not rely just on Radiology - as more and more of those accounts are being lost to voice recognition.

how great your company is and solicit referrals. Perhaps you mean well -- I will certainly give you the benefit of the doubt. But in my 30+ years of transcription, I have rarely found that it pans out to refer someone. Granted, you say that the recruiter knows that you do not know these people and are just soliticiting the referral bucks, but it just sounds wrong for many reasons. Heck, I have referred FRIENDS to companies I was happy with and either they hated the company and were mad at me (using the word mad loosely .. perhaps disappointed/whatever is a better choice) or they didn't measure up and the company was disappointed that I had referred such a person.
Regardless, I am happy that you are happy where you are working. THAT, for all of us, is the bottom line it would seem. I want to have a home where I can just work and be happy for the rest of my working days, which will probably be until I'm 100, so I guess I had better make sure I AM happy!

I assume you have contacted them yourself. Sorry, but I have no idea why they didn't give you work or why you had to pay shipping yourself. I understood the standard was they gave you a shipping label, you called Fed Ex and they picked up and delivered said package.
I assume you did deduct this as a loss from your taxes in the past?

Yes, Heartland does, and it is a good thing because you will need to have your death benefit available for your family to survive after you choke your own self for taking a position with them!

in order to figure how many line needs to be produced to make $500 per pay period. ie, how many lines an hour needed per 8 hour day --at your rate.
So say $450 a week would be $90 a day.
For example, if making 4 cents a line,need 2,250 lines a day, 281 an HOUR (to listen through and edit) to make this great wage of $90. a day FOR ALL THIS SAME SKILL, TO KEEP UPDATED WITH CHANGING MEDICAL COMMUNITY. nope Better at Jack-in-Box Pass it up.

what you do when there is no work. Well, there will be a lot of problems with this whole plan if they dont get things straightened out with this no work situation.

A few weeks ago I went to my clinic where they had recently implemented EHR or EMR, whichever you call it, and the doctor's back was to me the whole time he and I conversed because his nose was stuck in his laptop. To me, it felt a little more impersonal, but I understand he was doing what he had to do, but it seems like the bedside manner may go to the wayside if the doctors can't even look at you when they are asking you questions or you are speaking to him/her. I know this is relevant to your original post, but just an interesting fact that I had not anticipated. Anyone else experience this?

I know that I make more than probably 70% of the people there, because they know I produce a client ready report and that I can do anything they throw at me. We don't have levels, but I guess if we did I'd be at the highest level. Telling how much you make isn't so bad, but when people know what company you work for and then what you make that isn't a good combination. The ONLY people I have ever discussed what I make with, are my husband and my MTSO owner. Talking about your salary/pay is enough to get your fired in lots of companies.

Specifics such as no or late checks, line counts being messed up, no work, taking bennies away with no explanation. Things that matter, not the recruiter.

I wish some MTs would start thinking about the business aspect of the industry. For example, this is a public site, so go to Google or another search engine and type [the co's name] and per line, and voila! now everyone knows how much you pay your MTs.

They will take 6 weeks to send you a paycheck for 2 weeks pay, trim 30% off your line counts to supposedly cover headers/footers, and stiff you for your last check if you leave. Leave while you are ahead if it is them.
