Transcription work is not a sure thing.

Physicians take vacations.  Physicians leave the practice.  Clients switch companies.  You cannot expect an MTSO to always have work when this is not the sort of business that you can promise anything.

This profession is sort of like take it when you get it and not when it's convenient.  Whether you have your own accounts or work for a company, this still holds true.

There are times when I see no end, and then there are times when I can take a deep breath and a break.  It's just the nature of the business.

Is there such a thing as cordless headphones for transcription?
My cord bothers the heck out of me and since I am in need of new ones I thought I'd check with the experts (you all!!) first.
Ditto - it's never a good thing to learn transcription

Hands-On Transcription does the same thing but unsure if they are good or bad...sounds bad though
I was inquring about a job with Hands-On Transcription company.  They did not have any website or physical address.  They had just posted on here.  I had emailed the lady several times.  She told me I could purchase a C-phone from her for 399.00, which I do not have any familiarity with a C-phone (never had to use them in my career as of yet).  Plus before she sent me the paperwork she wanted my name, phone, address, and SS#..I sent that, out of hesitation, and she has never sent paperwork back.  Though she did email me about something else.  I am scared now that maybe I should not have given her the information since I could not find anything on the company.  So, please be careful.  I should have went with my gut instincts....
Anyone work for Oak Transcription or Nicholas Transcription- please e-mail me nm

No work here for 1 and 1/2 hours now. Bad thing is my PT gig also has no work.(sm)
I don't mind flexing to get my lines/hours in but when you are balancing more than 1 job it isn't easy. Tonight I am scheduled to work on my PT job so can't make up TT lines unless it is really late this evening and that just ain't gonna happen.
OK, another thing is, if the work is low, it will go SM
to the people who have been there longer. That's reality of this field. Goes on everywhere.
Work there also and the only thing I can say
is I am running out of work and I really do not like that. I think they leave you alone to do your work which I really love after being IMd to death at my previous place. I am very happy here- have also seen the many posts against them but I have worked there several years and never had a problem.
Same thing where I work and I love it
especially when it is a difficult dictator or a really fast talker. If I can't understand him/her I will pull up past reports by him/her and look for the same type of report. Helps out big time!!
the thing is, SOMEONE will work for that much, which is an insult to us all!

The important thing is not how many MTs are looking for work. sm
What will matter in the end is your skills. There are thousands of MTs in the country, but unfortunately only a small percentage of them are well trained. Not bragging, just a fact; I know a lot of MTs. If you know the second-edition BOS well (which many companies require), are meticulous in your work, great at researching terms, and are dependable, you can get a job. It helps if you have an extensive background in various areas of transcription.

Put your strongest assets forward in your resume, and keep plugging. There is ALWAYS a shortage of good MTs, even right now. An MTSO may overhire, but if he/she is wise, they will keep the good ones in the end.

It's a little more difficult to get a job right now, but still possible. One of the biggest points is your resume. Make sure it sells your strong points, but is brief enough to be read.

Good luck to you all, especially at the big company.
Same thing here with the co. I work for..free time is

ok sometimes but I really want to work!

I work for them too and was wondering the same thing?? What gives all of a sudden?? nm

I was a little troubled by that e-mail, too. The funny thing is, I work
an IC job that supplements my pay, and I got a call just Monday because I had not met my producton goal there. Apparently another vice president decided to earn a check this week...LOL.

No matter how much they jump up and down, you cannot transcribe what is not there. I was more than happy to remind that individual I do not get paid unless I work, so not meeting goal is probably MORE critical to me.

I thought by busting my tush on 2 jobs I would be guaranteed never to run out of work, but both failed me this past holiday. For all the gymnastics, I will be working all weekend this weekend just to have a decent paycheck. Sigh.
I used to work for a defunct GA MTSO that did the same thing. I always went straight to the bank and
The other thing to watch out for these companies who constantly bounce checks is that there may be other illegal stuff going on behind the scenes, such as not paying appropriate employee withholding taxes or health insurance premiums. My old MTSO never did send my Social Security contributions to the Feds for over a year. It's part of why I stay with the big nationals. They have their problems but I know my paycheck is always okay.
She does not work from her living room. Why would assume such a thing? Why would it matter to you
do not post things that you have no idea about. If you have a problem with KS or any company, why not ignore it and move on? Why does it concern you?
The setting your own schedule thing varies. For example, physicians who work in the ER may be
independent contractors, rather than employees, if they are moonlighting on weekends or whatever. But notice they are told what hours to work... There's no way to keep a transcription service alive with people working whatever hours they feel like whenever they feel like. That's just not reasonable.
The thing is, if we just "suck it up" and send the work offshore to lower sm
the rates, there will be no work for U.S. MT's. There are plenty of hospitals and doctors that do not want their work offshore to keep us all in shoes.
Just be honest. Put down the shift you're looking for, what type of work, that sort of thing.
Be reasonable in the line rate, or I use "negotiable".  Let them know if you're looking for a large or small company to work for.
You aer required to work 3 holidays each year ... not sure about the quitting early thing. nm

The same thing happened to me 2 years ago. That Indian creep gets people to work

for him. He gives this scale of how you are supposed to be paid, but it NEVER, EVER is the high range that you KNOW you are owed and deserve.  So, then your production and earning come up and they are WAY off base.  On top of that, he either pays you late or not at all.  This is fair warning...DO NOT WORK FOR CALLSTREET!

You all have a point. I forget how this at-home thing works. I used to work in-house at a hospital.
and... we got paid extra for working holidays and even weekends and evenings. I am new to this at-home thing and it's pretty disappointing. I think I'm back to the hospital..

Anyone work for p.r.n. transcription
past or present?  Can't find anything in the archives on them.  Just wondering about the good, bad or the ugly on this company.
Debate is one thing, and posting is one thing,
but this is getting absurd. I think it must be the same person, otherwise multiples who cannot stay on topic?? Why can't you STICK with the subject? The subject of my post was NOT what your cent per line rate was or is - I could care less- and not how much money you made last year, this year, or in your life, but how silly the comment was that your cents per line rate means NOTHING, that its up to you - some fluff like that. That is just so silly. Again, working for the same company, same account, is one going to make more money being paid more per line? OF course! This is so frustrating and really makes me so tired of reading this garbage let alone posting. Its like a nightmare. And also makes me completely believe that the original company must pay peanuts.
good thing it is a temporary thing sm
because people with your attitude don't stay in anything very long anyway. Nobody has to listen to that crap to keep their job.

You don't know me either. you can say old fart all you want (when did 53 get to be old fart....too funny) but at least I am a valuable employee who can get a decent job!
Anyone work or know anything about TurnAround Transcription in CA? sm

The pay is gross line; however, a line is 72 characters.  Not sure if this is a good deal - I don't think so, but would like your input.

I am used to a gross line no longer than 65 characters.

They use MedRite - how is that platform?

looking for ophthalmic transcription work

I am a soon to be graduate of Career Step and prior to this worked 11 years for an ophthalmologist. I am looking to do ophthalmic transcription. Is there a company that specializes in ophthalmic transcription?

I don't work in a transcription office but I
certainly don't work in my living room or bedroom. I have a dedictated office in my home. You insult all home workes with such broad statements.
Anyone work for Hippocrates Transcription in NJ.
I used to work for this company, at the time they were in NJ, but I've also seen a FL address, so not sure if they moved or opened another branch.   Just wondering if the MTSO is as hot tempered as she used to be.

Landmark Transcription/no work
This company really has nerve. They've posted a job ad, but they have not had work for their current MTs for weeks now. They lost a bunch of accounts, tried to shuffle their MTs to the accounts that were left, but there just is not enough work to go around. So, why post an ad when there are MTs without enough work every day of the week?
Toth Transcription-DO NOT WORK FOR THEM

It has been a week or so since anybody has posted anything, questions or otherwise, about Toth Transcription.  I wanted to get the message out there to anybody considering even contacting this husband and wife team, DO NOT CONTACT THEM.  If you do, you are entering at your own risk.  If you do, you better "scour" over the contract.  I am genuinely concerned and feel extremly bad for anybody that has or will fall prey to Toth Transcription.

FACTS:  These people don't pay their MTs.  They will charge you about $100 to get set up on their system.  If they want to load PC Anwywhere or similar program on your computer, DON'T TAKE THE JOB.  You will have to constantly TRY to contact them whether it be by phone or e-mail just to get your paycheck.  Their excuses are "it must have gotten lost in the mail", "I mailed it yesterday, or I mailed it 2 days ago so you should get it any day now".  If you threaten to not turn in your work until you get paid, the husband will rip you a new %!# over the phone, and send threatening e-mails.  But, whether or not you turn in your work, you still won't get paid.  He tries his darndest to intimidate people.  I have known these people for a long time, and probably longer than most of you.  There is no communication between the husband and wife, and there will be none between them and you.

The husband files bankruptcy and uses it as an excuse not to pay his people.  He will only pay 5 cpl.  It is insane that they actually expect somebody to work for this amount of money, but then they won't pay you anyway.

I can't stress enough that you are just asking for trouble if you go to work for them.  I have posted other messages, but have only gotten 2 reponses in my e-mail.

Some posters said that their lawyers told them it would be a waste of time to sue them, as the legal fees would outweigh what Toth owes you.  The Toths know this, so that is why they don't care. I would pursue lawsuits anyway, just for the satisfaction of getting this so-called business shut down and preventing them from hurting other people.  They take advantage of anyone, especially newbies who are just trying to get their foot in the door.

The husband cannot hold down a job of his own.  This is why he took control of what used to be his wife's business.  They live high on the hog, but they barely make their bills.  You are paying their bills for them.

NEWBIES: There are legitimate companies out there that hire newbies.  You have to look hard, but don't jump in with both feet without doing your research.

If anybody has any questions about this, just post here.  I do check through the day.  If you do pursue any type of legal action, try to get as many people together as possible to do the same.  If you would rather e-mail me, just go to kahluasfight@yahoo.com.

You will be verbally abused, e-mail or otherwise, by the husband.

Does anyone work for Probity Transcription
I have a job offer from Probity and would like opinions from any current or ex employees.  I did not find may good posts on here about them and most of them are old.  Do you have a lot of dictators to work with?  ESLs?  Any info would be appreciated.  I would hate to quit the job I have now and end up hating working there.  Thanks.
Anyone here work for Hils transcription...
or know much about them?  Any info is appreciated, email me if you like.  Thanks.
Work for Transcription Solutions
This maybe the 3rd time I have ever looked at this site, but was informed of comments and felt the need to post a reply, which I am sure I will regret posting. 1.  We changed our name as we changed our services to our clients (offering work flow platform) and felt Solutions was a better fit. 2.  Bounced checks have happened and have ALWAYS been delt with including any bank fees. This was NOT a common occurance and have often been when major clients have not paid their bill on time through our factoring company. 3.  Tom Weber was an employee with this company. Its a real shame as we are a different company in the way we choose to operate. We do pay hourly, but have zero tolerance for cheating (which used to bite me regularly). We do not test, as I hire experienced MTs and feel that it takes 30 days to see/test and do not judge on a report or 2. Also, I think testing is just a way of getting free work. We are not perfect and have made our mistakes (some mistakes were in the MTs hired) and have had a lot of growing pains, but we have done our very best to make it right as quickly as possible. Our MTs have PLENTY of work and are getting all the hours they want. So....to whoever did the posts, I am sorry you were wronged, but I do know you were taken care of financially as quickly as possible since I have not had any contact from anyone. Obviously, there are 20+ others out there very happy to work for us and often refer friends. To those who took the advice of the post and decided not to give us try, thats okay too, but too good to be true does not always apply and there are always 2 sides. All you had to do was ask. Thats all you will ever hear from me and I will not even look for responses to this post. Thank you for your time.
The Transcription House - Anyone work for them?
I have done a search on this forum for a company called The Transcription House and I cannot find anything on them.  Does any work for them or know anything about them that they would care to share?  Thanks in advance
