don't burn your bridges
happened to me too. there were six of us, they kept one. they kept telling us, don't worry. our job then ended. my advice, don't burn your bridges. i know you are angry. tell them you will be there for them in case it doesn't work, you will edit for them, etc. in my case, they tried their new system or whatever the hell it was and it didn't work. they hired be back to edit and eventually to transcribe again.
Never burn your bridges. You never know who is

Take a leap. Just don't burn your bridges.

my opinion, don't burn bridges, especially in this business...
stay in good standing, if you can.  this is assuming you had a good working relationship with no problems (?)

I left a few months ago, and only because of needing full-time work and more money.  they were perfectly understanding...
Don't burn your bridges with this guy. With either of the suggestions mentioned below, he may

Yep, just did with TT, well worth looking into if you didn't burn bridges. nm

I'd have to third that motion. In this biz, I never burn bridges I may have to cross later or sta
on. I do my best to work both until I see how it will work. Trust me, I have seen in only a day if there was potential or not at a new job. You get a feel for support, difficulty of work types, and overall general feel of what this new place is like.  Besides that, when I first came home to do transcription and had to give notice, as this is what i had one previously in the outside world. Boy was I shocked when after giving my 2 weeks notice I found out I was locked out of the account. Apparently, my 2 weeks notice ended NOW....so beware and be cautious.
This is the most classy way to quit. Remember, never burn your bridges either! nm

Good reason????
No one ever has good reason to give out personal info, especially if illegally done.  You cannot justify this action.  Also I am the OP of the fact or fiction post.  You are WRONG.  You are dead wrong.  There were 2 pay cuts at KS within the last 3 years.  It is in the archives.  They are there publically for any one who wants to take the time to research it.  You are foolhardy to call someone out when they are speaking the truth and it can be documented.  Before you take a stand, take the time to make sure your information is correct!  Also, as I said before, I have every email from the day I was hired to the day I left.  I have every bounced check stub and I have every piece of information to back up my posts.  They are public records as far as I am concerned and I can back up ALL of my statements and that is a FACT.
There is a good reason.
Not a stable environment to work with.
Probably for good reason SM

you may think it's a wonderful company, but wonderful doesn't get reported to the Dept of Labor.  I hope every person who gets a questionnaire FILLS IT OUT and RETURNS IT.  These are hard economic times, folks, it could mean money for you.

If you worked overtime every week, BE HONEST.  Don't protect the company, they should comply with the law like every other company has to.

There is a good reason why we work on production . . .
and that reason is production is the only way we will make money. You don't get raises with wage pay and you're basically locked in with no chance to increase your earnings.
Well, you should have no reason to check if you're one of the MTs who gets good line counts.

Burning bridges sm
If at all possible, don't burn any bridges in this business, but if you absolutely will never work for them again, then just quit. There are good companies out there.
No way...TROLLS hide under bridges
And those things are annoying and smell bad.

I took it to mean.......too good to be true. However,
I emailed just to see, right? LOL.......made dummies of all us, I guess.

Posting on MTJobs has V.P. Transcription pay for a radiology accountn at 16/cpl for NO experience.  Am I not reading this right?
If it looks too good to be true
that is what the story sounds like, millionaires all over the place in just 25 years. Yep, just sign me up today (Not).
Thank you so much!! It sounded too good to be true! :)

So very true. A good laugh. Thanks n/m

What sounds too good to be true - REALLY IS!!!
Gads! Three phone lines? What in the world could you possibly do with THREE phone lines?

What freaks me out about that posting is

$12.50 AN HOUR SALARY
STRONG ESL

At the end of the day, babe you will have earned every penny of that money. My head hurts just thinking of working that dictation puzzle.

Those dictators are the worst of the worst and they can't find anyone who wants to do it. ECK!

Not true. Good things have been said. sm

Actually only one person said anything negative and that was that they didn't pay, but others who have and are working for them countered that and said they do indeed pay.

I started with them last week and am happy so far.  Haven't worked a full pay period so can't say for sure on the pay/don't pay issue.

They have an office in Texas and an office in India.  If you don't like/want to work for a company that works with India also then it isn't for you, otherwise it has been good for me so far.  The account I am on is pretty easy and I am being very productive.  It is editing and transcription, from what I've seen about 1/3 standard transcription and 2/3 editing VR files.

Hope this helps.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. (sm)
Nothing is as it appears to be there. I would look elsewhere.
Sure sounds too good to be true.
If anyone has any info I would sure be interested. TIA.
True but they have more good qualities

Too good to be true but any QA jobs available

Sounds too good to be true? It is.
Ok, so you are a provider and you want to eliminate your MT costs. So you either go with VR or EMR (template point and click). So you think if I just buy this program I can eliminate my costs of creating a record. So you fire your MT (s) and buy into this electronic thing. But then you find that you need to hire IT staff to make it keep chugging along. So you are replacing someone who does piece work by working by the line with someone who needs salary, PTO, sick pay, benefits, etc to keep that electronic thing going. So in the long run you aren't saving any money. In fact you are creating another boondoggle by having to install a body on your precious real estate and in the bargain you must take them to raise. This won't last long once these idiot providers realize the costs outweigh the benefits of going electronic.
Burn-out. You have burn-out.

She tried to burn me bad too. Wonder how many she
tried this on? Always find it interesting when people advertise for account managers also - what their QA/MT not good enough to promote from within? Scary place - so glad I'm gone!
Burn out
In 15 years I've seen my income go from 120,000 a year down to 18,000 a year. The difference is all the waiting for work time -it takes as much out of you as working, but it's not as productive. Somewhere in the last decade MTs lost a lot of respect, and it's a job similar to sweat shop labor now, and no one cares except the MT.

It's not going to improve - it's time for all of us to find something else to do. I went back to school for the third time - a year from now, I'm out of this business. It's the best plan. Only when enough veterans of this business leave will the working conditions improve.
I feel if it sounds too good to be true,
there usually is a catch..susan
I don't think that's true or fair. Most of the posts about KS are good. sm
I work there, have worked there a while and am very happy and know many, many others who have been there a while and are very happy too. They have improved rather than fallen apart as many companies seem to do. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a fair, caring, well-paying, high line count, good benefits providing company. I am in acute care but know many others in radiology and ortho and clinic. Yes, we compare notes with each other (many came from Edix and MRC) and everyone is happy. They keep getting new accounts and the new accounts are getting bigger and bigger.

I agree that OT pay (or lack of) was a problem but when they said no more OT work, many complained to the point that they said to work the production you want.

It is disheartening to sit back and read posts that are so negative when I know the opposite to be true. It can chase people away from working for a wonderful company. I think we see more posts because there are more employees and because they are always hiring due to new accounts. I also know that every manager, including the owner, that I have ever talked to, really cares and really wants to continue to make Keystrokes better and better. I think they are doing a great job.

As for running out of work, I know that there are ups and downs in transcription and they try to be fair during those times, spreading the work around. I also know that sometimes when a new account starts, the volume will be go up and down because they are working on the perfect staffing mix.

If you are having a problem, not getting enough work, etc. you really should talk to them. They will bend over backwards to make it work for you.
Good for you!! Its true, IC status is a joke!

Agree!! Sounded too good to be true.
You do not get that kind of pay and only require 1 year experience!
Did not burn bridge, was well liked.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Testing burn out...sm
How many of you are tired, tired, and sick and tired of these EXTENSIVE test?  I know I sure as heck am and one place wanted me to do this EXTENSIVE 5 part test for SOAP notes.  No way, no how, no matter how good they say the dictation is or how easy.  I don't have time for these stupid written test, give me a few files, let me transcribe then and be done with it.  Jeez Louize!!!!
Good post, Amber. And true, too. All professions
restructuring.  But anyone with eyes can see that even though the MT profession has changed, there's still a TON of work out there.  You know, it behooves the employers out there to have doom and gloom run rampant and the MTs thinking that they can't do any better than 6-8 cpl.  Sometimes I wonder if they're the ones spreading most of the doom and gloom, and then some naive MTs are picking it up and shouting it too!
I've always heard if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. n/m

I did it for years.....no more though. Severe burn out. sm
I did it for about 12 years. Actually, I worked 4 jobs, about 4-5K lines a day. To be honest, looking back, it was not worth the toll it took on my psyche, as well as body.

I say if you really need the money and can manage it, do it for a little while. Eventually, the stress wears on you. Don't forget to take some time for yourself during each day, even if it is 30 minutes or so.

For me, I was working and working and working, and never had time to enjoy anyone or anything in my life. I realized that was not living life at all....and the money, while it was nice at times, really wasn't worth losing my friends and enjoying life over.

Would you just go away? Dont you have a flag to burn somewhere?

steady slow burn

When I see MTSO's patting themselves on the back for paying for spaces and actually bragging about it as if it was a fringe benefit, it makes me want to spit.

I am not impressed, people.  That should be a given!

How about a decent wage you pilferers!  I am sure you gave yourselves an annual raise at our expense.

I can't help thinking since this is a female-dominated work force that that is the reason we do not have a standard pay scale that reflects the real world and what things cost.

We really haven't come a long way baby after all.  We're are still being exploited. Anyone care for a Virginia Slim?

Girls, hold onto your hats. Say it isnt so...if something is too good to be true..it usually is.
An ad on the job seeker's for 12 cpl...yeah right. I hope that Janis Reed realized she just opened a can of worms and her inbox is going to be flooded. I just still wish I believed in Santa too. Everyone tell me the skinny if your brave enough to apply. I bet no one thought they'd see the day when they would become paranoid about seeing an ad for 12 cpl LOL.. At 6 cpl, I'm disgusted, at 7 cpl, I'm not impressed, at 8 cpl..maybe...if easy clinic account, at 9 cpl, taking a second look, at 10 cpl, you've got my attention, getting a litte skeptical that it isn't all ESL, 11 cpl, Right!!!!, but 12 cpl...NO FLIPPING WAY.. Keep me posted.
TT has paid maternity leave? Sounds too good to be true..
Just wondering if anyone has used this paid maternity benefit?  Is there a catch? This is such a rare benefit now days it just seems too good to be true.
Good for you, if that is true. It is really a losing game. Wouldn't advise anyone to pursue it.

You have to lie a lot, wouldn't you agree?  It is all bait and switch for the recruiters.  They promise a lot, but the companies do not follow through.  Care to say who it is you are a hiring manager for?  LOL.  Never heard it called that before.

This is not true. I have been there a month and get a good line rate and paid for spaces. ??? nm
