Yup, still have to travel to NJ for a long training
course! Forget about it!!
I am going to retire in four years
and go around the world. I have always wanted to take six months and go to every country I have wanted to see and so I will.
I don't have to travel anywhere to work, hence, no travel monies required from MDI.nm
nm
Believe me, you'll work weekends so don't
go bragging just yet. Chances are M-F will find you running out of work.
I'll bet this one's a real joy to work for.....
;p
the pay is 10 cents a line and 11 on weekends, more than you'll at most other places

Not True FOR REAL
No, it's not true. People think just because they get a couple of accounts referred to them by Dictaphone that they have ALL Dictaphone accounts. Where do you people come up with this crazy stuff?

Yes, it's true you do not have to work weekends/nights
They let you choose your own work schedule when you start.  They use Dictaphone with Word.  It takes a bit of patience to get used to what you're supposed to do as far as finding the right visit or if the doctor inputs the wrong work type, etc., but as a program in general, it's simple to use.
If this is true that you offshore only for night shift and weekends, then PLEASE

explain to me the statements in your SEC about going to 35% by end of 2009 and the plan to continue to INCREASE the amount you offshore.  How can those be the company's goals if you only offshore nights/weekends when you cannot find US MTs to cover?  I can't make the two mesh in my mind.  I have seen this question asked a few times now with no response.  One of the posts even vanished from the board, which I found quite disturbing in and of itself.  If someone at Transcend would address this, I might feel a bit differently about their offshoring, but when they continue to ignore this question about their own statements, it is very unsettling.

I also saw a Transcend MT post and say they DO work the night shift and they canNOT make their lines because they see their work vanish around 10 p.m. nightly.  This would suggest that the work is TAKEN AWAY from the U.S. MT and sent to India, when there is a U.S. MT sitting there ready, willing, and able to work the night shift.  If you want the confidence of MDI MTs, then PLEASE give us straight answers about this hugely important issue.

We have also repeatedly asked if we would be able to have SE status, maintain our flexible scheduling, which is imperative for some of us, pay range, line definition, insurance questions, etc., and have received NO information, only vague statements about the foreseeable future, a case-by-case basis, etc.  Surely Transcend knows what their insurance plan entails, what their pay scale is, how they definie a line, whether or not they have any intention of honoring our current pay rates, whether or not they intend to allow us to write our own schedules or work a set shift, or keep SE status.

I can't for the life of me believe that NONE of these issues were discussed between the two companies before the merger, nor have they now been discussed when the questions were specifically set before them by the MTs and again reportedly brought to Transcend by Carlotta.  And yet we STILL have no more information than before the original conference call, only very vague statements.  So no, this does NOT inspire confidence to stay and give Transcend a chance.

I can deal with just about anything if I am given the facts and the truth.  It is the mushroom treatment that I simply cannot abide.

Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
I don't work weekends or holidays. MT FOR 10 YEARS
NM
See if you'll be producing more after 30 years of MT'ing and at 50+ years old.
I don't think so. My income increased every year also, until I reached age 50 and 30 years of MT'g, been downhill ever since.
I've been working weekends for 7 years and haven't heard of this.
dd
I have said many times for two years
That I am with Medware, they treat me fair and keep me in work.  The line rate is higher that MQ where I spent 4 years, the insurance coverage at Medware is $17/week for United Healthcare, the incentive plan is attainable, we get direct deposit every other Friday.  They treat you fairly.  Sometime I wish I did not read this board, but I still believe there are those who are looking for a better company and ask for information.  I happen to like working for Medware.  Calling someone an idiot is rude, I guess one must consider the source.  Time to go to work.
Have gotten cards from them svl times over the years. nm
s
I'm sure you'll get there before long. sm
I've been MT'ing for 23 years and the worst part has been the learning curve with a new platform and account. In fact, I stuck it out way longer than I should have with MQ just because I was too lazy to learn the ways of another company. I did take a position with a new company and will probably ditch MQ by the end of the month. Hang in there. Keep us posted on your lph ramp-up.
I've been with the company almost 10 years. I know the truth. Hawaii was a company-paid vacation.
.
I live in NY & have applied to them svl times over the years. Have never had a reply. nm
s
and she'll just keep running them off. Especially as long as
she keeps people who steal, cheat, and lie -- get fired from other companies for being a thief and a backstabber -- as supervisors. It amazes me how some of the serious bottom feeders can go from one company to another, lie on their resume, and never get caught.... especially ones who had police show up to their house and confescate all of their equipment after they thieved from the company they left. NICE JOB! That'll keep a company floating along.
It should, but you'll be searching a long
time to find it.  Seems 8 cpl is the going rate and 9 if you're lucky.
Not true. If enough people do it, it'll be noticed.
.
No, my check has been late 2 times in 3 years, PO fault, not StatIQ's.
I don't think you have to worry in the least that they are not paying you. I guarantee it has been lost in the mail. Please do call them. The times mine has been late, I have called and always been told if it is a week late to tell them and they will re-write a check and send it. They want to know if you don't receive it.
Wouldn't do it. You'll end up with lines that are in the 70 and 80 chars. long length. They

You'll work as an employee, not IC. Need your own C-phone and pay for your own long distance line

Is there any TRUE unlimited long distance (sm)

carriers besides Vonage and Comast?

I know AT&T and Charter Cable both say they have unlimited long distance, but they really have restrictions on their usage.

Anyone else available?

Thanks!

I made that working for a national...O/T, weekends...no live, now no O/T or weekends(sm)
so no more big bucks, at least from them...looking for second job to make ends meet, don't have husband to help...this sucks.
That may be true for some but I have been at MQ 6 years sm
doing radiology and always had work.
Don't think it's true, but in years of using it, there ARE
s
Yes it is true and if you were there 2 years ago as you claim
as well as the "not so flattering" picture of her that was in the company email newsletter at around the same time.  Nice try though.
I say that because it is true. I've been doing this for 20 years, sm
but 2 kids through college and yes I made more 10 years ago than I do now. If I don't feel like I'm being compensated I move on.
Six years is a long time.
Yes, I would completely ignore the opinions on this board. There are a lot of unhappy people that post here. I have a feeling that the people that are so negative here are the same people that would be difficult to work with in an office situation. The only difference here is that you can hit that delete button and forget about it.

I have not experienced anything like you did. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.
Even after years of doing this, it's NOT true for the majority of MTs these days. Look at how man

Not true - been doing clinic work for 8 years
and while yes, there are things such as px and other things you can make macros for, my docs say a lot of different things based on who the dictation is going to and what the problem is, also personal things pertaining to that patient. I have found OP notes have more of the same things in them than clinic notes and can make you more money.
Very true. I've also found 20-30 years in SM
makes a person resistant to any kind of advancement in technology.  I've seen MTs of 20+ years who don't even use an Expander because they don't want to learn anything new.  Then they complain that they can't make any money.
Yes, 6 cpl is low but three years is NOT a lot of experience. It takes that long to become sm
semi-proficient and we look for at least 5 years because of that. I would not go higher than 7 cpl with only three years experience and I think this is starting to be the norm.

Think of other fields ... plumbing apprentices, electrician apprentices, printing apprentices, etc. It takes 5 years to be a journeyman. They start at $8.00/hour and move to cap which is around $30/hour but it takes 10 years to get there.

Even teachers ... it takes 5-10 years to get top pay.

Any field.
oops, meant 10+ years--it's been a long day!! nm

Not true. I worked at Transcend for years and things have

For years people at Transcend were very friendly and the only time things got really heated on the forum were over personal opinion posts like politics and stuff.  Not any more.  More and more people are to the point of not knowing what to do with this company anymore.  People who have been there years and years have quit or are quitting, and I think most of the peers that are happy are relatively new and haven't seen the downward spiral.  A friend of mine quit a while ago and said she got a letter about a month after she quit asking her to sign a release saying she wouldn't take Transcend to court or be party to any claims relating to her employment with Transcend.  If things were that hunky dory they wouldn't be so scared that they need to ask people to sign waivers when they leave.

With MQ for about 10 years after they ate YOG. With Webmedx now. What K posted rings true for me.
I'm not wild about my STM, but that person is a definite step up from the Q. E-mail me if you'd like. Work is plentiful on the acute care, Enterprise side. OT is available frequently. No place is perfect, but they have decent incentives, although the PTO is a little bleak. Best of luck.
True. Most have less issues than the Q, though. I worked there 10 years before switching.
Webmedx definitely beats them. You can trust management at any of these larger places anymore.
They've been around for years. Some of us old-timers applied long
s
That's not always true. I have been editing a Powerscribe account for 2 years. The work sm
has actually steadily increased due to fewer and fewer radiologists self-editing their own work.

I know of at least 4 other Powerscribe accounts at Keystrokes that are also increasing in volume for the same reason.

I am sorry that the account you were on with Webmedx went to total self-edit. I know that Keystrokes had a few that did that too, just not all of them.
I actually have two real jobs with real benefits. sm
One is SoftScript at 10.5 cents a line, taxes taken out and PTO, insurance, the whole ball of wax.  The other is a hospital work at home job, same scenario.  They are out there.
Then retire.

they only wanted 2 years of radiology...i dont know why its taking them so long in your case, hope y

I do when I travel - SM
My husband actually got me a brand new for for X-mas. :) When I'm at home, I just work on my desktop.
travel
I was curious, because when I started the job I told them I would NOT travel.  I have a big fear of planes and trains.  I did not ask for smart remarks.
They need to have Deb retire completely
and have no contact with anyone they put in her place. She hates the world and passes her personal dislikes and vendettas down to everyone else. She has no management skills, no people skills, and operates like she has a mixmaster in her hands at all times.
Well I'm not worried. I'm going to retire at 50
so only have 5 more years to go.  I can't see VR being a threat, at least not on my account.  I do all Ops, mostly ESL mumblers.  My hospitals are so particular about every little thing that they'd never accept the work that VR turns out.  IF It should go to VR in the next 5 years, someone still needs to proof it and by then my wrists will surely need a rest and I could do twice the lines a day that I could typing.
Lucky you! Wish I could retire!

You know, it occurred for me to retire to one
of these off-shore places. Keep my dual citizenship. Live large on a tropical island, continue doing transcription and get the good work. Seriously. I'd make so much more over there for the cost of living and then, I could finally make ends meet...
What do you say, a bunch of us can infiltrate these places in the offices on the other islands, and then we'd have USA Transcriptionist as the offshore labor? No? Hmmm. Just a thought. LOL.
I'd go there, sue their dingies and retire.. NM
