Well sounds like nothing has changed. I work there now and it is exactly as you say.

Not sure how long I will stay.  I wonder what kind of turnover they have with the lack of work, poor sound, etc.  You would think they would get sick and tired of training new people.  Their accounts arent what I would call easy accounts to learn.  I guess it works for them or they would change their ways.  With all the complaining these hospitals they have do about things you would think they would try to keep good MTs.  I have never worked for a place with so much complaining about crazy stuff as they people do.

Sounds like they haven't changed much since they were Edix.
That was the biggest waste of time for me. I literally would be at my desk on and off for 12 hours to try to get 8 hours of work. We got the same excuse, holiday slowdown. BS is right! Hello! Halloween is not a holiday that people take off and vacation for. They were sending as much of that work to India as they could. Of course they asked us for a list of the worst dictators on our account, which we foolishly provided. A few weeks later, that is all I would get, the worst of the worst. They sent the best dictators to India, and we had to fight for the scraps of crap that was left. Get out, get out now, don't wait. Best thing I did was quit that job. It will suck you dry, monetarily and emotionally.
That's a shame. It sounds like things have really changed. sm

I was there for 5 years and always thought that D really cared about providing enough work for everyone.  Maybe all of the industry changes have caught up there too.  I hope things turn around for you and everyone else.  Although I do not have a family, I am my only source of income, and I know how scary the no-work situation can be.

Good luck!

Evidently things haven't changed since I left. Sounds like they've gotten worse - LOL
nm
Great people to work for, but I had to leave due to lack of work. Hopefully that has changed. SM
Most of us who do not live in California had to go IC. When I was there, they did not have statutory status, although they told me they did when they hired me. Their pay for VR is VERY low, not a living wage. Many of the folks in the office are ex-YOG and great to work for/with. Good luck.
The owners haven't changed, MT supe hasn't changed
I've been in their office. I know the people. It is a sweat shop and you will never be paid a decent amount or get respect. You won't know which is a good or a bad day for the person you report to until you literally get yelled at.

They have to offer bonuses because their reputation is that bad and nothing has changed. You may get work that has been recorded 3 times from some of the worst accounts you could ever imagine. They take accounts no one else will touch. That hasn't changed.
work when you want? unless that changed....sm
the owner is a really, really crude person....not nice at all, the threatening emails are CRAZY..how can they dictate a shift when you are ICs? I worked there for a quite a while and let me tell you, 1 year ago, that working when you want is NOT TRUE!
They changed buildings so maybe the phone number also changed...
They are still going strong...
I work there and things apparently have changed since you were there.
Not all the people you named are still there nor is the dental plan Delta. It is Guardian. Insurance is excellent.

Now, they hire employees and not ICs. They do that for a reason. They can better schedule and meet TATs that way. I think employee status warrants meeting your hours, but what I do know is that they do allow some flexibility and if you need it, all you need to do is say it as long as it is not 12-hr flexibility. If you have to run out and get the kids, tell them.

This company is a good company. The people are quite nice. Their QA staff is good. They do follow the BOS to a tee.

It's a personal choice, but if someone did not at least check them out, I think they are missing out. They are very good. Best QA staff I have ever worked with.
This is most certainly true. The work ethic has changed
And it is an old fashioned thing to stay, rather than throw away a long-term relationship or seek one out. Looking for something new and better rather than building seniority seems to be the ideal these days. I am not saying not to leave if something is wrong. Any intelligent person would do so. But to want longevity in a particular company that seems to be a thing of the past, not only in this business, but in many. Times change and people change. For me, bird in hand worth 2 in bush. :)
My how things have changed. I am now drowning in work from
the new clients, I guess, and they are bringing on two more this week.  Hip, hip, hooray!  Might even get a bonus!!!
Unless things have changed drastically, they are NOT nice to work for.
You will get calls at all hours to work, mostly because no one has enough sense to realize that there is a big time difference between the east coast where they are and the west coast where I am. I routinely got calls from Rose between 4 and 5 a.m. to see why I was not working when my schedule was for 7 a.m. pacific time. The accounts were awful. And the recruiter is just that - do not believe all the praise and glory she heaps out. She may be sweet but don't fall for her line of bs.
Used to work there. Terrible experience. They may have changed their ways, tho
xx
Sounds like you work for MDI - MD
x
Gee, sounds like someone I want to work for (NOT)
x
Sounds like we may work for the same co. Do ask..
I finally did and it is being checked on. I'm not that proud to ask LOL
Where do you work now? Sounds like
Webmedx.
That sounds like a lot of work to me. I have a
FT job, 12 hour window also, and then work as an IC as second job. For that, I pick when I work (if they have it). I have no line or hour requirements with them. That way, if I don't feel like working extra that day or weekend, I am not required to.
Boy, sounds like where I used to work.
The company doesn't start with a T does it. This QA person was extremely rude to me over something, and when the supervisor found out, she was reprimanded and then that is when my nightmare began. I could not do anything right and I could not take the constant nitpicking so I just ended up quitting. In my opinion, once you have crossed someone with that power it just ends up being a head game. I tried the going to the head cheese thing but it just got worse. Do whatever your instinct tells you though. In the end, it is a lot of pressure knowing someone is just waiting for you to fail and I'm so sorry this happened to you also.
sounds like you work at -
PAMF!
MT, it sounds like you work for a sm
wonderful MTSO, and I wish you knew me!!! I've had more than 25 years of continuous MT experience and have a 100% QA rating (have proof). I prefer transcribing OPs but will do whatever comes in my queue, and I'm not afraid of ESLs.
Sounds like the one I work for that just can't seem to get it in there on time for DD. sm
Always an excuse.
I work on an account that sounds just like the one being described. sm
The difference is that I stayed with it and make excellent money. There has been a lot of MTs removed and moved, but it is a challenging account in terms of difficulty level. I love it now. The funny thing is that you are all arguing a point that you know nothing about. No one can know what an account is like in a day or a week. Several of us have been on it since KS get it over a year ago and it has grown from a 2-person account to a 10-person account and I heard it will be growing again. This is because KS is willing to only put their best MTs on there and will remove those that cannot handle it. This is NOT a bash at anyone's skills, just a fact that this is a hard operative notes account. I might be good at it, but it is my personal specialty.

It also IS internet, not c-phone.
Sounds like you want to work PT, but get the benefits of FT!

There are minimum requirements so that the employee must work in order to get health insurance, PTO, etc.  Why on earth would an employer offer someone a FT employee status, but then not put any kind of line requirement on them?  That's just absurd.

As a manager of a transcription department at a hospital that pays their MTs hourly plus incentive, if I didn't have minimum production standards in place, I'd have a bunch of hourly employees taking a million breaks and surfing the internet all shift long!  And still walking out with a nice paycheck and benefits to boot!  And my minutes would be through the roof with doctors screaming at me every minute of every day!

I feel sorry for the company that gives you a job.  You're looking to get off easy!

Sounds like you work at my company.
They never respond to calls or e-mails and, when they do, it shows they never understood the question or problem. LOL.
Sounds like we work for the same place...sm
Same thing is happening to me.  I have worked 50 hours a week for the past 2 months just to get my lines in.  When I turn in my time sheet, I put down that I worked 100 hours in 2 weeks.  I got an e-mail from my company stating to please only put 80 hours down.  Now, this seems totally illegal to me!!!  They should not get away with this but what can I do?  I need to pay my bills.
I can see a lot of problems in this way of doing things. That sounds to me like everyone's work i
up for grabs so that would push those MTs that have their acccounts grabbed up go onto other accounts. If you think this doesnt affect quality I think you are totally crazy. There are a lot of people that simply cannot do a good job on accounts this way and they are very good MTs. Very bad way to do business. I am sure quality is hughly compromised. It is always always best for quality and line counts to keep people with what they know. Even the hospitals can see who is in there and they know there are a lot of unknown MTs in their accounts and if the quality goes down or a lot of work is tied up in QA those hospitals are gone to another company.
Sounds like TTS - Most companies using eScription run out of work often. nm

Sounds like you work for the company/account

I do FT.   I'm 17 hours short this week.  Fortunately there is plenty of work today, my day off.  I won't be able to get any overtime but hopefully I'll be able to make up most of those 17 hours.

Wow...sounds like a good place to work.
Sounds like they made it worthwhile.
So I guess if you are experienced and work for nothing there are job. Sounds bad. nm
:
It sounds like a good place to work..
which is why they are at the top of my very short list.  I also am a long-time MQer and the thought of leaving is a little depressing, but it has gotten to the point where I have no choice.  p.s.  Glad to hear you were treated well, and that everyone is doing okay.  : )
Sounds like the company I work for now. Horrible
it.  The company in general is also very, very strict on QA, so there's never a relaxed minute as the newbie on the block, and the cliques! Its cruel. I feel like I'm in school again, getting left out and laughed at and even set up for failure.  There is always someone calling out sick, etc., as you describe, and I am told I always have to be the one to cover due to seniority, or my lack of it.  Its so upsetting that I'm just about to throw in the towel myself.  I'm sorry I can't recommend anyone other than MQ QA, but I heard they are no longer hiring QA staff.  They used to pay really, really well and the conditions were fine.  Best of luck to you.
Sounds like you work at a great place
That seems like a much more reasonable line rate for VR, 0.065 - correct.  A lot better than the 0.03 0 0.045 that most offer.  Would it be okay to ask who you work for?
Sounds like the woman I used to work for. She is not located in -sm
NJ by chance. If so, things will not improve. Start looking for another job ASAP. I know it sucks for you right now but I found another job and I am making more $$ and I have a lot less stress. I too, hated the thought of going through finding another job, liked the accounts I typed and so forth. Good luck to you. I hope you ended up better off down the road.
Sounds like the place I used to work for. The one with crappy program?
nm
I saw they were hiring but there is no way I'd work for them. Their ad sure sounds good with shif
differential and good pay etc.. but it means nothing if they dont pay their people and you had to fight to get it. No thanks.
OhBrother sounds like a real piece of work, huh?
Oy vey...........
Sounds like several places I've been with! They can tweak the distribution of work any way they
s
Kinda sounds like you got scammed into doing some free work for them. I'd bail. They are underhan
I wouldn't trust anyone who does business like that.
Thanks for the advice. The idea of clinic work sounds good, but I do feel comfortable with acute ...
care. I have a lot of experience with operative notes, DS, consults, radiology etc.. but I am not that thrilled with ESLs. It is just harder to make money on them. I think I will look into clinic work. It was only the lack of work that was bothering me about these companies and mismanaging the accounts they did have, broken promises, and just getting the runaround.. over everything from benefits to work.
sure sounds swell. Sounds like 2350 ln/day @ 4 cents/ln=$90./day
in order to figure how many line needs to be produced to make $500 per pay period. ie, how many lines an hour needed per 8 hour day --at your rate.

So say $450 a week would be $90 a day.
For example, if making 4 cents a line, need 2,250 lines a day, 281 an HOUR (to listen through and edit) to make this great wage of $90. a day FOR ALL THIS SAME SKILL, TO KEEP UPDATED WITH CHANGING MEDICAL COMMUNITY. nope Better at Jack-in-Box Pass it up.
They seem to have changed since I did..
I worked for them 6 years ago. I was an employee, I see now on their website they only hire ICs. I was very happy with them, basically could work when I wanted as long as the reports were back when due. However, they somehow decided that their pay scale was unfair to new hires, so those of us who had been there, got knocked down to the new hire scale and everyone basically had to start from scratch to level the playing field. I quit shortly after, was not going to take a pay cut. I believe at this same time they also started sending some stuff offshore, not something I was ready to deal with. If they still have the same owners (I think the guys name was Ed), I found him to be very rude and only interested in himself and his $$. I believe about 6 of us all quit at the same time because they downright rude. I am now with a big national and making about double what I did with Accutype because of better systems and support.
So nothing has changed...
Thanks for the headsup guys. I passed the test with them and received an email, but I guess nothing has changed from past posts.

Thanks again
I see nothing has changed in the last
year since I left MDI. This is exactly how they operate on every level. A lot of people don't mind but I stayed for way to long and have a much better position now without all the drama from MDI! Good luck to you.
Pay Changed
I also agree that you should not take the job, but if they did offer to come up to the original offer I would still not take it. In my mind, this is a either a very unorganized company or a manipulative company and either way it is unlikely things would change once actually working for them.
Must have changed
Their training period used to be for 4 weeks--it must have changed within the last year.
Unless it has changed
you get paid for training what you will be paid for when out of training.
i changed this yr from emp to IC (SE)
left the Q for another job...and i'd have to suggest job #2. I have been an employee for several decades, and wish i would have found the joy and freedom of being an IC-type years ago. I have my medical insurance through BC/BS of my state, and do that so i am free to change jobs if i want to. I get a little higher deductible and the premium is not so bad. As far as a computer, i decided to have a backup for my desktop and just yesterday purchased a laptop online from Circuit City (sale goes off today) for a toshiba A215-S4697, $600 (includes printer/wireless router/security software). That's less than half of what i invested in my desktop. Maybe that would be of interest to you? Feel free to e/m me if i can be of any further help. Either way, good luck!!
looks like nothing has changed much...
the owner gave me some sob story about how she wouldn't make any money if she paid us more than 1.5 cents/line to edit. PLEASE!!
Unless they have changed
since last year when I worked for them, and I doubt they have, stay away from them. They STILL call me and want me to call them and act as though I never worked for them before; I worked there 4 months. Cannot understand any of them when you need to talk to someone, never had any work even after they promised there would be plenty of work. I finally threw in the towel and left. Couldn't feed the family that way. I definitely do not wish this company upon anyone.
Could have changed but..
I elected NOT to take a position with them because the pay was the worst ever. They had VR accounts that they paid 1.5-2 cpl on I believe. There is NO way I'd do ANY work for that.
